When I'm attempting to charge my atrix on PC or Wall Mount the touch screen response is terrible. I can't even unlock my phone and it's really annoying. Is there a fix to this?!

If your trying to do it on a desk, without holding it in your hand, it can wonk out and not respond correctly (quite frustrating when developing). Also, I have seen this before on my old iDevide, the power/grounding electrical stuff.can mess with touch sensativity. If it is really annoying you, maybe you have a defective unit and so go get it replaced. I can't vouch for what you are saying when u plug it in it stops working though. I have an otterbox defender on my phone.
Just mah 2 cents.

If you are not using an original charger or USB cable, it may happen. It happened to me with a Moto Milestone.
If actually your charger and cable are original, then your phone might be defective
Someone in Milestone 2 forum suggested use of a longer usb to microusb cable .. something around 1.5 m would do

hey everyone. ive been playing with webtop and i noticed that if my hdmi cord comes out of the phone. even the slightest bit. the screen cuts out and i have to press it back it. like. this is such a slight amount a small bump could trigger it. is anyone else having this issue? (also. i cant figure out if its the cable or the phone... )
That's odd for sure. My cable holds very firmly in place. My phone even slid off my tv stand one day and hung by the cable and everything still functioned. I would think its the casing on the Atrix might not be right or the cable might not be reaching all the way in ie cable was manufactured too short on the plug end. If you have a friend with an Atrix try out their cable if not call moto they might send a replacement but that idk never heard of anyone calling about that.
But thats just my 2 cents

So, the cable that I have doesn't plug straight in to the phone it's angled to run up towards the top of the phone. Whenever I plug it in to charge it, it seems that I have to run the cable awkwardly towards the top of the screen and underneath it. Not a big deal I suppose, but was curious if anyone else noticed this and found it a bit annoying?

My goes straight out to the left. Someone at the factory must have screwed something up. Get you a new one from amazon. I got 2 six foot ones for about $3 a piece.
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely annoying, right?

Yeh, everytime i go to type with the charger plugged in, it annoys me. Wish they had put the USB port on the bottom of the phone or at the top on the sides. Very annoying.
The charging port annoys the crap out of me. When charging, I just put it down and leave it haha.
i use a right angle adapter so the cable runs down the side (not up or straight out). allows me to actually use the phone while charging. (still kinda gets in the way)
Hi, well I just received my Atrix Lapdock. I've read in some forums that this accesory works with the Motorola Razr, all just have to do is some mods in the ports, well I just did it but not work. This is what happens when I plug the phone to the lapdock.
1. If the lapdock is closed, the options in the phone screen are, multimedia, office mode and music.
2. If I open the lapdock, the phone screen turn off and the lapdock give a message that reads "HDMI no signal" and then the screen turn off.
3. After that, the screen of my phone acts weird, the notification area has icons and text seems topped.
My phone is running Android 4.0.4. I thought this could be the problem but I connected my brothers RAZR running Gingerbread but same things happens.
In both cases, non of two phones gives "Webtop" option.
So what do you think? I need to reinstall something or the lapdock is defective?
Thanks for your help.
make sure hdmi connection is enabled under settings/display.

have you tried plugging in your phone with a micro hdmi to a tv?
if that doesn't work then it's your hdmi port on your phone not working.

Yes, I've tried it and is working.

Mine acted that way and my hdmi was in fact not fully seated although it appeared to be. I doubt I pushed it in another millimeter.

And after that push now it works? Do you have the Atrix Lapdock?
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app
i have one too and had to file down the plastic to get it to seat correctly.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Yes, I have the Atrix lapdock. I feel it's nicer than the lapdock 100 and the price was much better. I forgot about filing down the plastic, but I did. Mine came with short extension cables, but I like it better just standing on its head. The hdmi extension cable was a little loose fitting anyway.
texbuck
But I unscrewed and took off all the plastic and connect the cables directly and still don't work.

Same here. Scrape off some if the soft plastic molding around where the ports sit. This allows the HDMI to fully plug into the phone. Then you will be fine.
Now if only they had a palm rejection setting so that the keyboard would be sort of passable...

I had this exact same issue, turned out to be my phones hdmi port was broke. Got a new phone under warranty.

I believe op said his phone works when plugged into tv, so that would eliminate his phone port.

Just checked: double-tapping on the while LED in the upper left corner of the touchpad turns disables it. Another double-tap re-enables it. Light on=touchpad on; light off=touchpad off. As a side note, I got the HDMI error once, and double-tapping on that corner seemed to fix it.
For anyone having trouble with getting the Razr to seat properly, here's what I did: I took out the "spacer" that the Atrix would have rested in. The spacer was there so that even if the Atrix had a case, it would still work properly.
Tnx dude, I just did what you said but it doesn't works. The strange thing is that when plugged and the lapdock is closed the phone gave me the office mode, music mode, etc, but when I open it the phone screen turns off and then the lapdock says No hdmi signal... double tap on led and nothing... what could it be? After the last connection my phone screen act like the picture.

Same trouble using atrix lapdock with Razr XT910
Hello, I'm using tthe Razr xt910 stock rom. When I connect it to my lapdock the mouse pad and keyboard dont work, I get some flashes on the lapdock showing what its supposed to show but then suddenly its screen turns black and my phone turns on.
So I tested it with connecting it to my TV using hdmi cable, and it works everytime... Then I go back to the lapdock, connect it and it flashes as I described before....
The weird thing is that When I go to slot 1, using Safestrap, and load CM10.1 rom, which is not yet the final version, When I load this rom and connect it to my lapdock it doesnt show up on my lapdocks screen but the keyboard and mouse pad work!!!!
I go back to stock rom, and it wont...
Can you please help me...
I dont know if it has anything to do, but I have been getting deep freezes since I installed SmoothLiquid rom on slot 3, and I dont know how these deep freezes have spread to my other installed roms including my stock rom... it never suffered deep freezes but since I installed this other rom.
So I naturally deleted this rom, but the problem still persists, I dont know if that had anything to do with my problem.
I also found out that I connect a mouse using USB port and this wont even turn on....

Yeah.. I believe the webtop only works out of the Stock ROMs and its derivatives. I previously tried to mod my Atrix Lapdock by swapping the ports around but it never worked too well. I pulled out the plastics and run it directly from the cable as it is now. Its dodgy but works well.
If the keyboard/Mouse isnt working too well, then its most likely your USB contacts arent working or that it detected the HDMI port before it detected the USB port.
After a good long while my X2's microSD port stopped working. So now I can't charge it, or connect it to my computer. I took it to a Verizon Wireless store and they confirmed that the port looks fine, but doesn't work. They had me a replacement shipped. I have the one they just sent me working fine, but I have to return my old one. The old one with the messed up port has Eclipse v2.3 on it, and I don't know how to get it back to a stock ROM without being able to connect it to my computer. It says in the shipping paperwork that they can charge me the full retail price for several reasons, including "software alterations." I can get to the stock bootloader of course, but bootstrap requires me to be plugged in to the AC charger. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
When you say doesn't work... do you mean absolutely zilch or will it charge?
Nothing

Have you tried wiggling the USB plug on your cable when it's connected? Sometimes, it might be really loose. I'm assuming you and Verizon tried, especially if you took it to Verizon and they confirmed it wasn't working.
I'm also assuming you've tried different cables just in case? I do know that if you don't use a cable that was made specifically for the X2, it might not have enough power to charge. I have noticed that with my RAZR (and my X2 before that), using USB cables and chargers that were NOT specific to the RAZR/X2 worked fine for a while and then they wouldn't work or worked sporadically. I would have to wiggle the cable to make it "register" but one slight movement would then cause the phone to say it was disconnected from the charger.
But, if I used the car charger or charging cable that came with my RAZR/X2, it worked fine.
I know some people have also tried bending in the outside part of the USB port more towards the inside so that it results in a tighter fit for the USB connector on your cable and that has worked. But, you definitely want to be careful if you're returning it.
Otherwise, it's probably something on the actual circuit board inside where the port has broken away from the logic board and is no longer registering to the phone when something is connected. At that point, I think you're done.
Thanks for the Ideas

Thanks for the ideas, but I already tried all of those with no luck. There was about two days where I could still charge it with some manipulation of the connection, but no more.
What about a different battery, tried a ifferent one?? If the battery is shot, that can create a headache in its own world.
Battery's Good
