[Q] Instant force close upon new gingerbread install - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So after searching the forums, finding all the relevant information and following all instructions on a new install of this gingerbread rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548688
I constantly get
"The application "Lots of asian kangi symbols" (Process com.android.inputmethod.pinyin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
whenever I navigate with any buttons or try and enter text into any input field.
Being an "xda noob" I am rather proud I even figured this out, however I think I'm going to need a little help to fix this issue...
What do I need to do to fix these errors?
Edit: Tried using CWM to Fix Permissions.. still hard FC with every tap.

Fixed!
Nevermind folks. After some more tinkering I fixed it myself.
I neglected to
mount /data
mount /system
then back to CWM home screen
wipe data/factory reset
wipe /cache
I did all this and it booted up just fine and so far I have no issues....
To those of you like me, noobs with a dangerous toy,
don't forget those steps! lol

android.process.media stopped

I started with a new g tablet when I turned it on it wanted to do a update. I did not do the update from viewsonic. Then I loaded cwmod then then VEGAn-GE-7.0.0-RC1-Harmony-signed.zip. All went well start unit and I was able to goto and download from the market with no issues even downloade new flash from the market and worked very well. When I was useing it the market started to force shut down when I went to install app. it progessed to do force shutdowns.
So I did the proper sd partions reinstall vegan still same cant even get passed the google sign in in the begining. I then downloaded and load the tablet back to stock with cwmod when in the stock mode I did get force shutdown when I would mount the usb but that was the only time. Now I started over with cwmod then vegan still samething. Any thoughts would be great thanks.
update
I did some more reading and decided to do the fix priorites it seams to work so I did the google market fix deleating in maret and google then got the error rebooted now google market dose not open . I will have to do some reading on this. Any pointers
try this Settings>Applications>Manage>All> find Media Storage and then Clear Data... and reboot
update . So far so good I did a total restore useing NVFlash. Then when it booted up it wanted to do a ota update so I let it do it this time. I then reload vegan with all the clockworks then wiped data, cahe and fix priorites.
this works for me...happens once in a while...i'm surprised its not known more widely..many people seem to do a complete wipe to get ride of it
from another post:
I noticed at least two people in this thread have had this problem. The following worked for me... At one point I started getting this error also. Driving me crazy! Could not bring up the keyboard, and the message would pop like every 5 seconds. I searched and found this post (thanks and credit to KinkyMunkey):
process com.android.acore FC and how i fixed it
I didn't want to wipe data, so I tried it. I couldn't use ES File Explorer for this, but Root Explorer worked great!
The problem is a corrupt contacts sqlite database. As the referenced post says, you'll be able to tell if thats the problem when there is a .db-journal file in the folder. The folder is /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/ *Note* this is not the data folder in sdcard, but the data folder in root (/).
Just delete the databases folder in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts and restart. The contacts database will be rebuilt and re-synced.
This has worked for me twice (thank goodness). I don't know what causes the contacts DB to get messed up... it wasn't a drained battery for me.

Worked great! Thanks!
thanks gpzjack
It was a different database file for me but it solved it. The only thing is that a week later it happened again. This seems to fix it. But does anyone know the cause of the corruped database so we can stop it from happening?

[Q] Vibrant MMS Messaging Error

I have a rooted and unlocked Vibrant. Today I installed Root Explorer and moved some bloatwear to my SD card.
Upon restart and when trying to use Messaging I get this error:
"Sorry The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectidly. Please try again."
I found several lists of "safe" apps to move/remove and stuck with them, but looks like I moved one too many?
Thanks, noob the cat
Go to recovery and wipe cache, then clear dalvic cache (under advanced) then fix permissions, then reboot.
Beware of angry gingerbread man
Do I access the recovery mode with vol up/down power? That only gave me the option to clear all cashe.
I also noticed today I got a similar message when ending a call

ICS update failed: DMClient stopped

I've just purchased transformer prime, tryed to upgrade to ICS, then it started to download the update, but I needed to turn off the unit before it finish to download.
then, later I tryed again, but now I keep getting the error message:
"the application DMClient process com.asus.dm has stopped unexpectedly please try again"
and it won't start the download.
I've tried factory reset, cold reboot, clear and stop CMClient and DMClient,
but nothing helps...
Did anyone experianced this problem ?

No, but powering off during an update on any device is a no-no. At best nothing happens, at worst (consider this the more likely path) you corrupt your OS and will need to restore from a backup (not possible ATM) or reformat (manually reinstall your current update)
http://support.asus.com/download.as...sformer+Prime+TF201&hashedid=FqCKMQDqgvSncfFM
Again, never power off during an update (or any file reading/writing), this is a sure-fired way to corrupt system and personal files.
Thanks!
I didn't think that shutting it down while it's just downloading the file will cause any damage... I tought it will just cancel the download and the update...
anyway, I manually installed the latest 4.0.3 version from the web site (via sd card) then wipe and all is good.
Well, far as I know just downloading should have been fine, no clue what happened there.
Glad you got it worked out though!
P.s. I feel idiotic for not saying so in my first response, but of course installing from SD card fully formats the device and wipes out all information on the internal SD. Back up what you can regularly to an external SD/mSD
It didn't wipe automatically (I still had my apps and google account), but I still had "DMClient stopped working" problems after the installation, so I wiped manually and it's good now. I'm not sure about the internal SD, I didn't have anything on it.
I have had the same issue, but the error occured right out of the box... trying to fix now

[Q] "Process System Not Responding"

Hi guys,
Wonder if anyone can shed a light why this happens. It's been going on for the last few months – Originally I thought I'd wait and see if the problem resolves by itself. But seems to get slightly worse over time now.
I am currently: Rooted & Unlocked
Problem: System hangs after reboot at home screen with message “Process System Not Responding” - with option to wait or terminate the process – Whatever option is chosen, ATP will reboot itself.
Frequency: Unpredictable – But once the message appears after switching it on, ATP will reboot itself 2 to 4 times before I can use it again.
I had done a lot of searches, but there doesn't appear to be any solution / or anyone knows why this is happening. One useful comment I found recently said this may be due to some processes starting before they are meant to during boot up sequence – but no details were given.
What I had tried (based on numerous suggestions after searching the net):
Wipe Dalvik Cache / Caches
Clear “Media Storage” and “Google Framework Services” data
Remove my accounts (currently I have two accounts registered in my ATP) and re-register the accounts.
Remove all the widgets from home screen
Hard reset / Factory Reset
Finally – Multiple different combinations of the above
Getting quite frustrated here.
Wonder if anyone can help please?
Thank you in advance.
[Q] "Process System Not Responding" researching and even downgrading to .15 --> .21, I think the problem is finally solved.
Allegedly "Process System is Not Responding" may be caused by process(es) that hangs or take too long to complete during the boot up sequence. So I uninstall blindly one program at a time - and it appears that Cachemate might have caused it.
Prior to this, every 3-4 normal boots, were followed by 2-3 "Process System is Not Responding" until a normal boot followed. I am now 48 hours problem free. Hopefully it will stay this way.
Edit (11/06) - Ok, spoke too soon. Got the message again after 24hours of use and after roughly 15 normal reboots (I switched ATP off/on these many times to make sure the problem was well and truly gone). The Cachemate could just be a red herring then. However there appear to be less in term of frequency. I noted that the message came on after I watched a video (3hours long video - 600mb in size) and rebooted ATP. Tried disabling media storage (no real logic here, I thought I just gave it a go) - but the problem is still there. So this evening, I reflashed the asus .21 rom --> downgrade to .15 --> reroot --> upgrade back to .21 (again to real logic here, thought I give it a go).
I can't think what else to do. I wonder if large hosts file (mine is 8mb) could cause the problem or the wallpaper I use that is stored under /sdcard - but again, the problem/message only comes up randomly.
Edit (13/06) - Finally managed to narrow down the problem. Everytime a large hosts file (mine is about 8mb) is created, the problem comes (faithfully everytime). And when the original smaller hosts file is restored - problem is gone entirely.
Any input on workaround is very much appreciated.
alright i fixed it on my phone. i did a full wipe. tell me if i need to explain how to do this. reflashed the ROM and gapps. when i went through the setup the first time there was an option to restore from google. it was checked by default. i left it checked. same problem... system process not responding... wiped and started over and reflashed ROM and gapps. unchecked restore google and it didnt come back. phone hasnt crashed since. the problem lies within the wifi passwords restore. the problem started when i was trying to start wifi. i dont know where to report the bug or i would. good luck and any questions? just quote this so i get an email and ill try to explain if this didnt make sense. hope it helped. if it did consider buying my buddy a beer who is a dev and needs a new computer. http://johntriger-development.yolasite.com/

[Q] zte 967s can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log

Hi.
One from the biggest forum ever. Great team work.
I am in trouble with a zte 967s phone. Maybe it's bricked.
link to a photo for a better describe about error.
It came with it's original ROM in two languages. Chinese and English.
I install a Rom to have more languages and Google store too that are missing from its original Rom.
The Rom is V967s_NOTE [tested and working with more two same phones].
This one maybe is infected by a virus(from Facebook as my daughter says to me .. it's her phone ) and crashed down after a week that I install it.
I try to reinstall the same Rom cleaning user date, factory reset and cleaning davik cache too.
But I receive the error can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
I read 4 more topics here referring to that errors but didn't help me to resolve this problem.
With Volume + and start button it open in [recovery-cwm-6044.img] as you can see at the attached file
In normal boot is stacked at the 3G opening field in white background.
How to proceed to bring phone back to life?
Thank you !
