If you are on ICS version,
this is not an app but, many versions of stock ICS rom have been rooted with this method, you can read the thread and try : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719

Ok so how about gingerbreak app. ??

As far as I know, gingerbreak has very rarely worked on the SGS2. Definitely doesn't work on ICS, as the name indicates.
Only 99% certain, here are 150 pages to confirm/refute...
ZacQ8's link is the only non-pc root method available - 99.99% sure about that.
Should be more popular because of that, IMO (said the man who doesn't use ICS...)

few people have posted that they sucessfully rooted their S2 through gingerbreak.. Only if you extract files in right folder...and also i am not on ICS till now.

Just use the method posted by @ZACQ8. It takes only few minutes, it's secure and works fine. That CWM "live" version can even do backups, restores and etc.

We really need apps like "universal androot'" for galaxy s2 .. I just rooted my motorola droid through this app its so simple and easy...just a one click away no need to get in to recovery mode.i hope someone is working on a similer app like this for s2 ..

@OP, your best and easiest option would be CF-root, and then go on from there .
KE2 version will work fine, but you might as well update your FW via Kies before you root. (unless you don't want to use the junk known as Kies - which is totally understandable )

Galaxy Note camera issues

Hi Guys
I'm having issues with my camera on the Unlocked international GT-N7000.
I'm running ICS 4.0.4 and I flashed it using odin.
It says "camera failed" and sometimes "running media scan" and then crashes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

is the rom ure using an official version?
cus on many ics custom roms or ported roms the camera does not work and due kernel issues u might get problems with the media scan as u statet
so try a samsung stock ics firmware i guess its available for the note
Yeah it is the German official ROM. I'm going to re flash the rom as it gave me an issue on the first flash. I hope that works.

Well that didn't work. I'm also noticing a few crashes here and there and reboots. Any idea why?

its the first place to search for samsung stock roms
I used odin to flash it.
Usually get my roms from Samsung-updates.com

It may work on ICS, but it may not. It does work for me on Samsung stock ICS, but I've not tried on CM9. However, that said; did you even read what Sun90 linked above? At all? Because it's a post from the guy who actually developed Chainfire 3D. You know. His name is Chainfire. Maybe you should read the post again, because it contains all the information you are asking about.
I DID read the link and the link properly said IT will NOT work on ICS. Only Foryo and GB! Now i need to wait people with CM10 paranoid.

I don't think any of the rooting apps work on the galaxy players.

If you're on Gingerbread you should be able to use dd to flash a CWM kernel. Then flash superuser from there.
See Entrophy's daily driver instructions for flashing this way.
Note: I checked and the stock U.S. 2.3.5 does have dd.
Wish I remembered how I did it, I remember it was soooo hard to do though, took my hours
