Im asking this question because I dropped my note with the charger on and it landed the the charger and ever since my computer will not recognize the device. I also am not able to sync. I tried another synce cable but no luck. Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken, all updates are done OTA. You should be OK.
Edit: in the off chance that it would need to be done another way, you could always pull the SD card out of the back and transfer whatever file directly to the phone.

there is lots of ways to wirelessly transfer files. try kies air or just search play store
When I first purchased my note it had an OTA update right away, which should mean that following updates will also be OTA.
My Samsung Captivate did small updates OTA, but large os updates were downloaded via Kies. My guess is the feeding frenzy would overwhelm cell towers.

To be clear, on the Captivate you needed the USB because Kies on the PC figured out what phone model and did the downloading. The Captivate had no Kies Air, though.

Ok,
I took my phone back to complete stock last night using odin, this morning I wanted to update the phone so my kiddo could get the new market, after downloading kies and running the update the phone will not turn on at all. it does not show when I connect a charger and I cant get it to go into download mode. Any suggestions or is this phone now done?

I Tried this and it didn't work. I really believe my phone is completely dead!
So there is no sign of life at all? No leds or any backlight behind the screen? If not, then you are hardbricked. Kies is notorious for hardbricking phones.
You can call your carrier or Samsung and tell them your phone was bricked using THEIR software and see where that goes.

I had the exact problem you did. Tmobile sent me a replacement, and now I have a phone with no scratches or dings! :victory:
Well I've had mine since the day it came out, it it's out of warranty so t-mobile won't cover it, Samsung was not going to cover it at first but after it was said and done they decided to cover it since it was there software that bricked my phone

This happened to me awhile back! I called T-Mobile, but as I was out of warranty, no phone could be sent! Wish I would've seen this thread before I tossed it...

ATT isnt going to care whats on the phone anyway.
They are going to send it off to an authorized repair service...(samsung), and it will get plugged in for diagnostic testing, then repaired.
After that, it will get wiped clean with a fresh firmware image, and re-sold as a refurbished device.
Dont worry about the data on the phone, unless it's information that you cant live without. It's going to be wiped away....g
Videos should have been saved on a micro SD card then you wouldn't have this issue.

Whoa there, calm down. Some people have this issue after running casual. I don't, but Droidstyle's guide has jrloper's video linked and I had remembered seeing it a while back. So check this out, it will guide you through how to remove casual drivers.

Haha im calm. Just frustrated cause I downloaded the md5 vral file and tryied odin and nothing worked...but what was really annoying is the fact that giant didntbhave wifi and my mom laptop when you go to up date it it says the system isnt running. Wtf... anyways...
So there are drivers in casual that do not allow my note to register as file transfer o on my computer? They can be removed?

Yes, Casual installs drivers that have given some people problems connecting the phone to pc after unlocking. That video guide shows you how to remove them so you can connect again
It actually was kies that was installed on my laptop...go figure.
Anyways phone is reset back to stock and the text issue has not been a problem. Nock on wood.

Please!! im going CRAZY trying to root my Gs3 i747!! My usb mini port got bad so i got it replaced and now it wont connect to computer! not even in download mode it doesnt even show the icon on notifications. I tried framaroot, Ezinox abuse, root Z4, thru terminal with motochopper method and nothing!!!! my gs3 is 6 months old but i lost warranty, My only chance is if someone build a method for the i747 gs3 or i sell it for cheap and loose money please HELP!!!!! IM A FLASHOHOLIC and good rom tester!!

Is there a recovery already on your device? If there is and you have an sdcard try moving the root files to that card with a friends phone or something. If there isn't then you might be out of luck. Keep searching I'm sure there's something you can do.

thanks a lot man! yeah this been a nigthmare, i had it root, my usb port got bad i unrooted to take it to warranty the process went good but got me left with a binary count and custom binary (no warranty) couldnt root it back so i pay to get the part fixed, came back only charging, had a big discussion with the tech, spend every hour trying to find a solution here so i can root back my phone and live forever happy lol but !nothing! and guess what my usb port started having trouble charging now AGAIN!! SO i will have to either fight with the tech outside the shop or throw my phone to the wall and put a end to this tragic episodes hahahahahaha

Yes you need to be on total stock to take the OTA. Once you take the update there is no going back however which means no custom recovery or custom ROMs

The most easy way to take the ota would be to Odin the stock image of the phone then accept the update

If youre going to take the ota you might as well just flash me7 through odin. Then you dont have to bother with removing recovery. Flash and go.

If you altered your phone in any way like removed bloat, then just removing twrp won't help. The ota will simply fail. I'd just flash back to stock with odin. I'm assuming that your on MDK and want to update to me7 via ota.
well main problem is i would love to use odin for update but when i plug into my usb it keep connecting and disconnecting the phone. i have the latest drivers i have no idea why its doing that. i have it set t MTP but does not show up.
How do you have it set to mtp, the phone has to be in download mode which there is no options to change. However if you have a problem with a usb port trying a different one will sometimes resolve it. If youre not using the stock cable that could be it as well.

ive tried about 4 ports now it does the same thing even in download mode. connects and disconnects immeddiatly
Have you tried a different pc? Maybe your port on your phone is going bad

yikes phone isnt that old at all sadly. I really hope that isnt the case. only thing that happens is it charges, connects and disconnects over and over again. so far have had nothing but problems with this PoS.
Yeah that would definitely suck. Maybe try cleaning it as well as the cable but im sure you tried that already.

well i think my drivers are just screwed up or something now. i used my old ass ancient laptop and its downloading and going thru the update process right now. so now im just trying to find ways to uninstall Samsung kies and falling into a hole because it will not uninstall it, and shows up without an icon in the "uninstall or change a program" menu.
