Video is lagging - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Themes and Apps

Hello, When i view any video on any player, it lags, the voice and audio doesnt sync, and it just slows down. What do you think is the issue?

Try different videos!

This happened generally when you try to play videos other than .mp4.
What type of videos are lagging? Is it in mp4 format or in any other format?

bro, our sgy doesnt have the capacity to play hd videos eg. 760p-1080p
even if you use mxplayer or any alike, doesnt change that and there is little the codec can help regarding that matter
but before converting the video, try it out first on the player, if it plays well then good, if not just convert it

Problem Playing Movies!!

Ok for last couple of days i've been trying to play movies on my x10. I've tried many players from the market and so far the results are:
Stock Player: Couldn't start/play any of the file.
Arc Media: Sorry, this video cannot be played.
Soul Movie: This video cannot be played! Please contact to the phone maker!
mVideoPlay: Sorry, this video cannot be played.
QQPlayer: Starts but wouldn't play anything (Force close when trying to go back)
MX Video Player: Starts well, loads subtitles and goes on for 5-10 mins with a little lag (which is fine for me) then starts to lag like hell and then video goes out of sync.
The video I'm trying to play is a BRrip, resolution is 1280x528 and is in mp4 format. (HD music video's I've downloaded from youtube seems to work fine with any player which is in same resolution) Some other movies in .avi format and lower resolution would play in some of that player but lags like hell.
NOTE: I've tried to set different settings of different player such as hardcoding and softcoding but they didn't work.
Any suggestion guys??
So only that BRrip doesn't play? You say youtube vids are ok...
Try Vplayer Pro, it works smoothly in my phone, so far i havent meet lags when playing any vids.

Ough..BRip in MP4..you mean in MP4 extention, isn't it..
Try to convert it to 720p resolution and change the Video Codec to Mpeg4 H264..
Can't play coz the resolution is not support by the player/phone..I guess..

No need of any conversion buddy, install mobo player from Market. Its free app. It actually plays anything u throw at it. Using it for over five months now. Plays even youtube .flv HD files flawlessly (Make sure the resolution is 720 or less). All the best...
Convert it to the same res as the x10, rather than letting the x10 do it on the fly. Your bound to get better results.
Try Mobo player. Plays any format and supports subtitles in .srt format. It would be nice to have option to change audio tracks in dual-audio files but at least works flawlessly.

Ok guys I tried mobo player it works, I mean it plays the file but it lags and gradually goes out of sync. This time the file was even in lower resolution. But convert seems to work fine. Now im gonna try different movies in different resolution and check which works and which not. Then I'll let u guys know. But in the mean time can u guys suggest me some good converter for x10? And the settings for those converter. I use Avs converter but its slow as hell.
Oh and guys I'm on cm7, just so u know.

MP4 is a simple format and can be easily played on our x10 on 720p(1280x576,1280x720)
MKV is used in Blu-rays now a days...
It can have many audios like a movie in 2 languages...
I play it in my x10 dual audio 720p...
The main thing is use doomkernel and overclock to 1228Mhz in interactive mode use MX video player.
Sorry if it sounds noobish but how do I use doomkernel and overclock in enteractive MODE?

I've found doomkernel to flash but can u link me to overclock?

I'll never understand why people want to watch 720p on a non-hd device. It's only eating up your resources.
Whether or not you can play videos depends on bitrate mostly but there are other reasons vids won't play. Just because 1 720p movie works doesn't mean they all will.

[Q]Video playing

I use mobo player and sometimes when i watch video, the audio is not in sync with the video and I know that the video is lagging. So I would like to know what is the maximum specs of a video(eg: file type, video screen size etc) that the hardware can support so that in future, I can find only of that and below so that my video will not be off sync.

Ace does not play HD videos(720p and above) properly. But 480p videos play smoothly.
Soft decoding is slow and causes that.
Yes, I use MX and there's an option between hardware and software decoding, first say not supported on your device.

Faster Video Playback

Can someone recommend an android app for increasing the playback of video files? I've found a number of audio apps, but nothing popping up for video.
QQPlayer and MX Player work very well on my Optimus One. Video playback is very smooth. Just dont expect to watch HD Video on an non HD device, playback will be slow then no matter what you use.
I recommend Mobo player, works fine on my SGSII
Qq and MD is best it support avi vob divx mkv all format
Best one I have found by far is Dice Player. Mobo Players is really good too but I use it mostly for running software mode to test stability.
BSplayer lite is quite good, very similar to diceplayer, but its free.

If you want to change playback speed of video. try diceplayer.
diceplayer can change playback speed up to x1.8(HW) , x1.5(SW)
Do any players support 3:2 pulldown and proper syncing with the refresh rate?

Galaxy S 3 can't handle video..?

Okay so I didn't really think I would have this problem with this phone. I put a mkv video on my phone and I went to go watch it but it stutters I'm not sure how to explain it but it's really choppy. It doesn't complete freeze though. I was using this in the stock video player. This was because I wanted to try pop up play. So I was bummed that I couldn't use the stock player which is the only one that does pop up play. So I tried mx player but it also has the same problem playing back the video. Wth can the s3 not handle mkv videos? I didn't have this problem on my note. Does anybody else have this also? Is there a fix or something? The screen is beautiful but it's not smooth playback its too choppy.

Need more information. MKV is a container codec, not a video or audio codec. What is the video and audio codec, and is it using something like 10bit color?

I've seen that happen on Epic Touch with most mkv format videos.
Try RockPlayer.
Yeah I was also having problems with certain video files. A couple of .m4v's that I tried to put on my phone would crash the video app if I put in or pulled out my headphones while the video was playing. Seems to be isolated to particular file types/codecs.
what is the res of the video you are trying to watch. what is the actual video codec on it and are there subtitles?
You could try VLC for android:

Try something for me , connect phone to your PC thro USB , and then try playing video on your phone , report results ?
I'm not sure how to see what is the actual video and audio codec, how do i check it?
The video files are mkv 720p blu ray rips.
I tried connected my phone to my pc via usb and tried playing video like you said and i couldnt really see a difference.
I think we need to wait for the video player app developers to produce extensions that work with or provide true hardware acceleration for our new hardware, the best player I've found right now for the GS3 is BSplayer lite.
Ironically BSplayer gave me the worst performance on the GS2.
anyway try BSplayer lite on your GS3.
720p bluray rips will kill most portable devices they are MUCH higher bitrate than a standard 720p movie. you need to downsize them if you want to play them smothly
Try MXplayer with their ARM7 codec pack.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=mxplayer&c=apps
I just converted a bluray movie down to 1280x536 with Handbrake and it plays like butter.

I also experienced problems with the 720p .mkv files I ripped my blurays to for portable use - but moreso with sound being out of sync with the video. I had the same problem with my GS2 when I upgraded to 4.0. I re-ripped my whole collection using the same compression rate into .mp4 and they all play flawlessly now. Anything I have that is .mkv simply doesn't play nice on both my GS2 and GS3 with 4.0.

MKV is not a codec...it's just a container format like AVI.
From my experiance/experimenting biggest culprit is always "stagefright" being enabled , screws up hardware decoding on many levels. On my ATT GS3 , it was enabled by default, i could not play my 720p 60fps music videos , i got "Blade Buddy" it lets you mess with some system settings easily (however i dont know witch setting specifically triggered it), after messing with it and doing soft reboot , my GS3 now performs as it should , can play even higher then 720p , latest one i tried was 1440x810 @ 60fps High profile H264 , all smooth and nice , [email protected] was to much though , all common <=30fps videos play problem free.
In Blade Buddy under Basic settings i toggled off "Compatibility Mode"
Under Advanced settings i toggled off stagefright , then hitting menu button clicking apply , and selecting soft reboot.
There must be something wrong with your setup or codecs or i dont know what because i have a NAS and i STREAM 720p blu-ray rips of about 5gbs a movie off my HDD attached to my router, i stream them and get 0 lag, even when i advance the movie, it takes 1/4 of a second to buffer and play the movie, and again i get 0 lag. i use BS player Lite
so its not the phone, trust me
I have played mkv videos and I have no problem ... the video format is hd 720 mp4
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
So it seems that some people can play 720 blu ray rips just fine with no problem while others can't and need to change the format. I find this rather odd. I haven't tried streaming these videos but ill try and report back but I think it would be worse because if it can't handle playing from the device the added pressure of streaming would make it worse. Somebody mentioned audio being out of sync, I don't have that problem at all. And it's not like the video is severely laggy its like it plays but it stutters as it goes to the next frame its so hard to explain ill see if I can record it and show you guys.

for a 720p bluray rip/hd rip movie, i still run it through handbrake to get the file size down. i set res to 1280xtakewhatevericanget from the original source. output as mp4 in that case (still h.264). i tend to crank the audio up a bit too, since it helps on airplanes or whatever with movie dialogue.
i haven't really tried dragging over a full on 4+gb 720p blu ray rip .mkv file...then again mtp sucks ass, so i'll do anything i can to get file size down.

Fat32 maxes out with 2GB files.
it's not the mkv that's causing it's issue, it's what's inside the mkv that's causing the problems. not just codec but bitrate and other small things could matter. Also, if it's software and not hardware like the ipad, even if meets the criteria hardware wise, it can cause an issue.

Video files.

Hi guys,
I have some news to share, if you would call it news XD
Recently, .mkv video files started playing on my player through the stock video player.. And before, it said "Video cannot be played." Weird right? Has anyone experienced the same, video files that are not supported by the player start working all the sudden?
Try with VLC for Android. In PC is the perfect video player...

No, I'm saying .mkv files started to play on the stock video player, which isnt supported..
The "mvk" is just the container of the "real video" (audio + video) and doesn't tell anything about the codec used in audio and video streams.
You can get both audio and video, you can even get only video or only audio and sometimes you get nothing, this is because the stock player can't decode the streams due to codec missing.
Just try a different player. On my PC I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and on android I found MX Player truly complete, so i'd suggest this.
