Hi, we'll this blows. The other day I noticed my main yahoo email got a spam from MY Gmail that was created when I got the phone.
I tried to post on the contact google group "gmail" and it said I couldn't post (I was logged in with my gmail).
Now today I pick up my phone and it says I've entered a wrong password for my gmail when I turn on wifi (I've never had to sign in since I've got the phone cause it stays signed in -cept when I changed a rom sometimes) So it's notified in task bar and a screen pop up for signing in.
So I enter my password (and try some others; no good. Can't open market either, and my wifi is grayed out (usually turns blue when it's fully connected)
I'd submit a screen shot but the forum says I have incorrect JPEG file extension and failed to connect to the forum. Total fails this morning. Whoop De do
Only thing I've used the gmail for recently was tapjoy ads for in game stuff... Bout the same time I got the spam email.
EDIT I just changed my password through gmail, and the problem persists. I can't access google voice either. Rebooted the phone too. I also installed entropy_dd 03072012 last night on unnamed 2.2.1 with uckh7

Well I would say try to see if you can reset your password again, and set up 2 step verification because it sounds like the tapjoy ads is malware and got your password via the ads. I had my gmail hacked almost 7 months ago and I had set up 2 step verification and have not had any issues yet *just a pita trying to remember the 2 step passwords*.
HTH,
Charlie
I already had 2 step verification - I clicked it and it said to enter my phone number for sms and a secondary email for password retrieval. Both were already filled/submitted
Edit I tried to sign in with the new password and it wouldn't let me. So I tried to change it a second time and it told me I had to wait 3-5 days.
Why is google being so ***
I can't even contact them

Some how I got to change my password a third time and logging in finally worked. Apparently my email was hijacked even though I had the 2 step verification. My Gmail sent some sort of spam (dunno what it is) to everyone on my contacts list.
It all sent Apr 30th. What can I do to stop this? I believe this was caused by a tapjoy ad as its the only thing I've input my gmail into since I don't use it besides google products like Voice and Market/play store

Lesson? Don't give important information to 3rd party software unless you are 100% sure about them.

Hey jerk, my gmail was auto input into a tapjoy ad, not my personal info. No lesson learned, cause I've never heard of a tapjoy ad doing this before. I thought they were legit- unless it was SwiftKey beta 3 logging my info. Those are the only 2 things that've seen my gmail address. NOT even my password (since it's-was- always logged in)

Dude. Calm down. I never said anything negative about u. Just good practice to only give trusted apps your info. And obviously use common sense in which appz u install.

Don't know why. But I has been using several accounts on my phones and computers through wifi. I have rooted my streak and tried a lot of apps in market, but unintalled a lot too.
My xda app once worked well, but now it gets force closed every time I tried to post a new topic.
Any clue? Feeling very unsafe...

How did you come to the conclusion that your email was hacked? Sounds to me like you downloaded a bunch of things and maybe some of them didn't install/uninstall properly and now you're getting FC due to instability. Reset to factory defaults to see if it solves it.
I could not log to one of my email account several days ago. I used "forgot my password" and changed my pass. Today my major gmail account couldn't be logged in again. This kind of things haven't happened for years. It must be either my phone or my computer or my wifi is hacked.
Your phone, maybe? I had the same problem with my emails, XDA app and a few other forum apps. My passwords would not work on the phone but worked fine on the computer. I had to log out of the forums with my PC before I could log on with the phone.
I was trying to back up my sms of the other unrooted phone before I found my account was hacked. I managed to change my password again and then tried to install an app called "sms backup+". The
first comment of the app is now about email account being hacked after intalling it. I uninstalled this app on my streak immediately. But I couldn't believe this is the reason. It shouldn't have been so obvious, right?

Hey guys.
So something iv'e noticed on my photon. I have two gmail accounts connected to my phone (one primary and one that just syncs mail)
Whenever the market tells me i have updates, i click the notification and the market opens with my second account active and just shows google apps under "installed apps" with no updates.
to fix this i have to click menu > accounts and change to my primary gmail address then all is good, it shows all my apps and any updates i need.
this happen to anyone else?
Yep. That is a feature, if you have one address for work let's say, and one for personal use. Your boss needs you to have certain apps linked to your work account, (free and purchased), but tells you not to link them to your personal account, (because the company credit card can only be linked to your work account for purchasing apps.) It is a feature. Don't fret.

I don't think u understand the OP's question or maybe it's the way it was typed.
I have this same issue, not a feature but a bug.
It switched from ur primary account to the secondary account without ever notifying the user. U have to manually switch it back whenever you launch the market which is very annoying. Anyone figured out how to make it stop doing that?

Thanks for clearifying that. I now understand that this is a bug. Sorry for the confusion.
this morning i noticed that my secondary email account (it's an imap google server, but not the main account) stopped syncing. when i hit the sync button i got a response saying 'unable to connect to imap.vzw.net'
when i couldn't change/check the imap settings, i tried to delete the account, but it wouldn't let me. when i go into account settings and try to remove the account it lags on 'removing account' and then eventually tells me it is unable to remove the account.
i called verizon and spoke to both a verizon and motorola rep and both said that i would have to do a master reset on the phone. i'm finding it hard to believe that you need to do a master reset just to delete an email account.
also tried creating a second account, changing the default to that one, but still won't delete, and now i can't delete the second account either. tried clearing cache for all for email apps (email, email accounts, email engine, and email authenticator) and email accounts is grayed out, but after clearing the others, still can't delete the account.
to specify this is not the gmail account required for android, but an additional account under the 'email' app. after lots of searching it seems that other android phones don't have this problem, and can't find any specifics to the razr.
thanks
This happened to me about a month ago. Same response from tech support. The factory data reset works to fix it & it hasn't happened again. Do you use an app called Root Call Blocker?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
No, the phone doesn't have that app. It's not rooted. Kind of ridiculous that you need to master reset the phone to delete email accounts. Luckily phone is a few weeks old and doesn't have much on it, but if this happens a few months down the line it would be a huge headache to reset. Do you know if this is a Razr specific problem or related to android or motorola specifically?
took the phone back to verizon today, and then it started working. not sure what happened. but second account is deleted and first account works fine. best guess is that it was a problem with verizon's imap server which locked up the mail application.
Glad it got worked out. Mine happened right at the beginning of the first major 4g outage so it may have been related to that.

I just got my note yesterday and its great, I first installed Amazon appstore (I just googled it and downloaded it) it installed fine but tells me my email or password is incorrect. I know my email is right and I changed my password like 3 times using the "forgot password" tab. Each time I received a "password changed " popup....but I still can't log in, and I can't get back my free apps of the day. Any ideas?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
First try logging into your account via a PC\Mac to be sure of your user name and password. (Not trying to say you don't know what they are but this way it removes any question.) Go to phone and in Manage Apps clear the cache for Amazon Appstore. Try to log in now that you are sure of your credentials.
Also delete any registered devices you have in your Amazon devices your not using.

dont know if this will help at all but i have two diff emails i guess set up two diff accounts , any how i have to go back and forth betwean the two accounts some times one will let me buy apps some times the other will let me buy apps
when you in the adroid market , go to setting and it say manage accounts . then if you have two diff accounts switch between them and see if that helps ,,
i may be way off or may not even know what im talking about but i try
good luck
I just don't get it. I've tried all 3 of my emails address, 2 of which are yahoo accounts. The only one that worked was my second yahoo account but its not fully set up...if I try and download today's free app it brings me to a page to finish registration (credit card info etc) the email address It should be allows me to log into the regular Amazon website (even from phones browser) but it doesnt work for Amazon appstore. I've cleared data, deleted and reinstalled, reset password several time...i just had a thought as I was typing this, since the note didn't come with a sdcard I used one of my 2 16 GB cards one is from my infuse (the last phone I used with Amazon) and an other 16 from a different phone. I know that the one that's in my note isn't the one from my last phone (with working Amazon) I wonder if I swap cards if it'll work?

I think that my Hotmail and/or S4 has been hacked. Last Monday I received word that a strange email was sent from my account with a link to skin care or something like that, so I changed my PW. On Friday, I received an email from Outlook that says my account has been compromised and I should change my PW, so I did, again. Sunday night, I'm told that another strange email was from my Hotmail account, so I change my PW again, 3rd time within a week. Each PW wasn't overly hard, but always contained both letters and numbers, so not super easy to crack I wouldn't think. So I started to try to track down the source, I removed email accounts from my phone on Monday (I have the stock email app set to check 2 accounts and have yet to have an issue with the second account). I also noticed in the Hotmail access log that my account was being accessed in 2 other states while all this was going on. So, all was going well and today I set up the email app with my Hotmail account info so I could check my email from my phone. Within 2 hours, my account was accessed from out of state again, but as far as I can tell nothing was sent.
I've read that its pretty simple to send out an email using an account that you don't have access too directly, just set up to use as a sent address, nothing shows up in my sent items so that would support this possibility. It's the account access log that has me worried, they still seem to be accessing my account. I've had AVG on my phone for quite some time now and that doesn't pick up anything, tonight I DL'd Lookout and that also came back as a clear scan.
My phone is still stock, would a factory reset fix the issue? I'd question whether or not a reset would get rid of the keylogger/spyware/malware or whatever is creating this problem. What about rooting and flashing a rom? What else could be causing the issue? I'm afraid that if I close the Hotmail account that there would still be something on my phone that's giving others access to my accounts.
Sorry for the book, T.I.A.

I'm not familiar with Hotmail, but many email providers allow 2-factor authentication. I would definitely suggest using that if it is available to you.
Check the IP addresses on the accesses from other states - do they match your ISP? Sometimes ISPs give out addresses that show up as different states. If Hotmail doesn't show ISP, you can put the IPs into the search at http://bgp.he.net/ and it should show you the ISP.
It is indeed trivial to send email appearing to be 'from' any account without access/relation at all to the account. Unfortunately spammers often take advantage of that and there's not really anything you can do about it.
I did activate the 2 step authentication.
I did track the IP address and then Googled what came back from the search (Cellco Partnership DBA Verizon Wireless) and it appears that this is tied with VZ and the related towers. It just seems weird that at one point it says its being accessed in Minn and the next time in Colo but I'm in So Dak and haven't traveled far from home since all this started.
Regardless, last night another email was sent with my email being used as the sending address. I've decided to close my Hotmail account because of all the hassle. I'm still looking for some advise on whether or not I need to reset the phone or possibly root and flash my phone in order to get rid of anything that might be stored on my phone. Is it worth worrying about or should I just move on?

Can you PM me the full headers of the email that was sent? I should be able to see in them how it's being done -- whether through your actual account, hotmail's servers, or just forging your email as the 'from' address.
You'd have to get them from the person who received it... in gmail it's as simple as clicking the little arrow and then 'Show Original', but the method to show headers will vary by client/provider, should be easy to google though.
About the IPs, it's not unheard of to be assigned IPs from a state or two over. It's obviously not an ideal configuration, no idea why it happens, but it has happened to me several times in the past. But we can't say they were your phone unless you've been keeping track of what external IPs your phone has been getting...
It is a really good sign that they're not some weird server host in russia, etc... though.
It's very common for spammers to forge a sender's email address - they can easily send spam which is "from" you without having any access to your account whatsoever. Some of that spam will get bounced back to you based on the use of your address, not because it was actually sent from your account. The bounced spam should include the headers it was originally sent with, from which one can tell where it really originated.
Are you sure the "out of state" access isn't just legitimate access to the account from your phone? IP addresses are logical, not physical. The geoIP databases which try to map addresses to locations aren't perfect, and your cell carrier may in fact be associating your phone with an IP mapped to a different state.
