Hello, I rooted my Nook tablet to CM7 using the SD card method. Now I found out I cannot access the 16G internal memory when I connected to the PC.
I did install the driver and it is shown as an Android composite interface device.
I can see the drive in the MY COMPUTER, but there is no information like size. Clicking it ask me to put in a disk or something like that.
Can anyone please tell me what is going on and how to fix it...
Everything is working fine except I cannot use those space for movies and songs..
no help
but i have the same problem

I feel like I'm missing something, and I'm hoping that someone went through this and can make me feel less inept.
Just got my new GTablet. I bust it open, run the update from viewsonic, reboot. Then, I go to install clockworkmod and I can't get my PC to recognize the SD card. When I look at the browser on the tablet, unplugged from USB, I see the "SDCARD" directory, but it is there whether I have the card in or not. I plug it up to the PC with the card in it and the only thing that shows is the 13GB storage on the tablet. Unlike my Android Phone, which shows the phone memory and the SD memory as two separate removable disks, I'm only seeing 1.
I've formatted the SD card on the tablet, which does see that there is a card, but aside from that, I can't get to it... ideas? Am I missing something obvious?
On the PC: the internal memory is seen as SD1, the external SD slot is seen as SD2
After you formatted your Micro SDHD card on your G tAb, did you mount it ?
I've mounted, unmounted while the tablet was plugged up and not plugged up. I threw it in my HTC Incredible to see if there was a problem with the card, but I can browse to it fine through my phone. I formatted it on the PC (FAT32) and tried again. I see The SDCARD and SDCARD2 on the tablet, but it never shows up on the PC. The only thing I see is "Removabled Disk" with 12.7 of 13GB free.
So, I've now tried a new card, with still no go. I mean, I added clockworkmod to the SD card via windows, tried to boot to it through recovery, but it goes to the unpacking splash screen and reboots after 10 seconds. I can go into the file explorer and see the update.zip that I added to the SD card at /sdcard2/... Any help would be appreciated. Help =(

This is normal behavior for the G Tablet. Only the internal memory will mount on your PC.
Thanks for that. I figured it out after reading through a lot of the guides that directed me to install from the internal "SDCARD."
Since reading your post, I've got everything up and running with Cyanogenmod installed and running... Thanks to everyone that threw your two cents.
Simple way to get started:
Read my STICKY in the General Forum

It will get you started. Also, on USB stuff:

In fact, it's a good idea to read all the stickie in all the forums.
They'll tell you a big percentage of what you need to know.

I promised that I have searched the forums, but I have not found a good answer, and any help I could get would be great.
I cannot mount my MicroSD card when I attach my g Tablet to my computer via USB. I can only see internal storage. Is there any way to get around this, or do I have to copy to internal storage and then copy to MicroSD? I am trying to load a large amount of media files, and I would like to speed the process up.
Also, as a side note, and speaking of MicroSD, with the Calkulin+Clemsyn combo, I cannot load Apps 2 SD. I am assuming this is expected, and there is no way to get around this? If there is a trick I would love it.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Same deal. I'm running Vegan 5.1.1, Clemsyn's kernel on Windows 7, 64-bit and when my Gtab is connected to my PC via USB cable the PC only sees the internal storage and not my 16 GB microSD card.
First of all let me say hello to everybody on this forum. (Hello!)
My problem is the following: I have recently bought a Galaxy ACE (Gingerbread 2.3.3). Everything seems to work fine, except when I try to use the phone as a USB mass storage device. I'm using Windows XP, which correctly detects the SD card and lets me access the files on it, but does not let copy files to it. Instead it just shows me that the SD card is full, which isn't true, as the card is new and files on it have a total amount of about 300KB.
Some additional info: tried formating the SD card from the phone, tried removing it and even the battery o).
Any thoughts?
Tried formatting it through Windows Explorer?
What about a partitioner?
I'm running Linux, and GParted has never disappointed me.
If that doesn't work, then seems like it's a problem from the SD Card.
Thank you! That did the trick.
Hi P9000 users!
I had now time to test some stuff with my P9000. One question: I inserted a Sandisk 128 GB SDXC Card (UHS) and formatted as internal Storage (want to move apps). Worked fine for the Phone and i was able to move apps to the SD. But after connecting Phone to USB (via MTP & unlocked phone) it only shows 32 GB internal SD. Also via File Explorer app on the phone i cannot find the external SD or mountpoint....
Anyone with same issue? I also changed connection-type to USB and then my OS (Win 10) does not open phone file system at all.
thx and br

We did an article about the SD card memory management in Marshmallow a while ago on the XDA portal that explains this, I'd suggest googling for it as I can't remember the title.
Edit: Something to do with the SD card being formatted as Ext4 (linux file system standard these days) and Windows not supporting Ext4 filesystems.
Thx for reply, so i am afraid its related to Android 6 default behaviour. So if SD is formatted as internal storage you cannot access via USB from PC or managing files on it via file browser app? Thats really disappointing for me since it then switches SD card to enhanced app storage only, useless for image, videos, music etc. Of course i can format as portable SD, but then no movement of apps are possible (via root its maybe the only option).
In SD portable mode, i also had issue that SD cards randomly disconnects and one time it even needed to be reformatted. Have read about that in another thread, that this is related to physical sd mount... will see to fix this with some tape :/ (gives me not a good feeling here)

Update: checked some forums and blogs, seems not to be android 6 default behavior that you completely cannot access the files on adopted SD-card anymore. after adopting as internal storage... anyone could also reproduce this? I will try doing factory reset with SD-Card inserted..
Howdy,
I had an sd card working fine in the Swift 2 but it suddenly stopped working and couldn't be read by a PC either. I have therefore bought a new one but I can't get it working right in the Swift.
The phone recognises when I put the card in so it's not broken. I can format it okay and I can tell Android to use it as External (for storing photos or music) or as Internal (for apps etc) but whatever I do it does not seem to work. I cannot download any large apps as I get a message asking me insert an sd card and if I try to use the camera or gallery I get a similar message "No external storage available".
Looking in the settings for Storage & USB I can see Android clearly recognises the card but no apps will use it. Is there another step to the set up I'm missing or something?
Thanks for your help.
