Wifi keeps booting me off. ... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hey, just upgraded to Uverse wifi. Significant problem, my Wifi keeps booting me off. Further my network won't retain the password. Any wisdom?

Uverse the wifi modem?...if so go into setting and see if you have the right setting enabled....perhaps you should reset the wifi...make sure your usin*the right password key....seems to me its a setting within your wifi device...I have a belkin N300 and have it set to 5ghz...and password protected...and no guest can log on...go into account setting and look and see if your device up is in the host log files so you see that's its letting you log on...or maybe changing the channel in wifi... just some options buddy...let us know

Also go to settings> wireless network settings....click wifi setting menu make sure your wifi setting for it to sleep is set to "never"....

I had an issue like that once so I unplugged the power to the router and let it boot back up and it fixed the issue.

Wifi auto connect

This seems to be a problem with android itself. Wifi never automatically connects to saved networks when in range.
I have to use an app called wifi fixer to monitor my wifi connection- it connects to a wifi network that I have saved when it is in range.
Below were my original questions I posted in the general section by mistake. After a lot of searching I found the folder organizer app can create short cuts to folder or categories for apps. So I can have a short cut in the launcher that goes to all my games, or utilities.
I haven't figured out how to make the cell radio being turned of be persistent. So I just have my device set to airplane mode- but when I reboot it I have to turn the wifi back on.

1. I'm on StreakDroid 1.6.0 and everything is gravy cept for WIFI not connecting automatically. That seems to be a problem with Android itself. For me it is a problem because I'm not using a dataplan because I get free wifi through my cable co. I'm using csipsimple with my old gizmo5 account that I bought with my n810.
2. Does any launcher do app draws? I'm using Launcher pro and it would be nice if I could put a folder in the dock to store all my games.
3. Anyone know if I can use 2 bluetooth controllers with this on emulators? I'm still waiting on my Datel classic wiimote but it would be awesome if I could use two controllers.
4. How do I remove the No Sim card message? I use this as a wifi device and I had it set to airplane mode for a while but then I found the app "any cut" and made a short cut to turn off the cell radio. Apparently if I have it set to airplane mode it turns off wifi by default- and I thought that was the reason why wifi doesn't connect automatically but I still have to manually initialize wifi. I have wifi set to never sleep btw*
5. Turning off the cell radio isn't a persistent setting it seems. Does the cell radio still use battery power if there's no sim card in the device?

Streak WIFI Issues
I am having the same problem. Running 2.2 with 318 baseband. Phone can find wifi but will not stay connected. Phone goes into an endless cycle of connecting and immediately disconnecting. I am able to get WIFI to work by putting the phone into airplane mode. Anyone have a fix??
Are you using the stock rom or dj_steve's? I've heard of people getting disconnected from wifi if the signal is weak. There's a way to turn of data on 3g under wireless settings. I believe that would prevent it from switching between 3g and wifi connections.
I don't really have this problem though. Once it connects to one of my saved networks it stays connected. It's just that android doesn't do this automatically when a saved network is in range.
WIFI Issues
I'm on stock rom. WIFI signal doesnt seem to be in the issue as I have been within 5 feet of the router and had the issue happen. I'm reluctant to turn 3G off as I need it on to make and receive calls in my house via Microcell.
You probably have to change that setting under wifi that puts the wifi radio to sleep when the screen turns off. I have mine set to never.
You may also want to run wifi fixer- which will automatically reconnect you when you get disconnected.
I'm going to try this:

The 2 programs that I use have helped me with my WIfi issues. Its not 100% but it does work 95+% for me.

Try rebooting your wireless router. I have 2 netgear wgr614's. One at home, the other at work. After several connect/disconnects, it goes in the connecting/disconnecting loop until I reboot the router. Go figure...
What I did that seems to have worked is to set up a static IP address instead of having the router assign it for me (DNS). Since then my Wifi connects every time. I could be wrong but it seems to have worked for me.

You mean DHCP not DNS. Mine always connects when tuurning wifi on but if left on and my streaks sleeps for an extended amount of time it will not connect till I turn wiring off then back on. I also have wifi sleep policy set to never. Had that issue with nexus one as well.

Wifi problem and another question

First off, I'm having problems with Wifi connections. My atrix seems to only be able to connect to Wifi the first time I connect to a network. Everything works fine but if I turn off Wifi or leave range I have to forget the network and reenter the info to connect again. Any ideas?
Another question, not sure if it has been answered already, but is there any way to remove the atrix signature when sending emails? Thanks in advance.

For the wifi problem, make sure that you have the setting to never sleep; I think by default it comes with sleep when the screen turns off.
For the signature issue, go into the gmail app, hit the menu button, go into settings, and I'm sure there is an option in there to change the settings.

[Q] Problem with connection to wifi

I searched in the internet a lot, but there's no clear answer. I have Galaxy Ace s5830 with system Android. I tried connect to home wifi network (this network is secured by WPA2), but my smartphone can't connect. I putted wpa2 password correctly for sure.
When I push "Connect" button, for a while it's "Scanning...", and then says "Disconnect". If I disable security of my home wifi network, I can connect and it's working well.
I don't know where the problem is: on the android system or hardware of my smartphone, or maybe on the router.
I heard that there are problems with Android and WiFi connection by WPA2, but is there no solution or I can't find its.
Thanks.
reset router
Try going to the router settings page & restarting your router. I had this problem on stock rom & this cleared it up for me.
Have you tried rebooting your phone? Its the solution 9 times out of 10
Are you rooted?
You might be locked out of your router. It happend to me yesterday. Try changing security settings to allow devices to connect.

Switch off your phone and turn it on again, if you use a custom ROM there might be a reboot option in power menu

It has done nothing. All the time it works this same. I mean it doesn't work. :/
Just disable broadcasting the ssid, add the hidden network name to phone and it will be good. You even mustn't have a password!
first, do you set your Wi-Fi setting correctly? look up on advanced setting, maybe it sets on static IP
second, try to reinstall your Wi-Fi driver on your SGA using code *#*#526#*#* via ur dial number
hope it's works

[Q] WiFi Connection Problems

Anyone with the Amaze 4G for T-Mobile USA notice that it often doesn't connect to remembered WiFi networks even though they are in range and it will only connect if you go to view WiFi settings/networks under settings then it connects?
Also, anyone have any issues connecting to WiFi networks where the SSID is not being broadcast? I can get it to connect initially but it will never reconnect to a hidden SSID network that it "remembers"?
Using stock gingerbread ROM.
I notice this happens every now and then... I will have to open my WiFi networks, then before I can click on the network, it refreshes. It happens only rarely for me, but I have noticed it at times

I had this problem once before IIRC. Do you have any apps or settings enabled that automatically turn the WiFi off when you're not in range? Something like Y5 Battery Saver or anything of the sort? If you have any apps like that, uninstall them or force close them then try and connect.
I don't have any app. But my wifi automaticaly turn off whenever my screen off. I can't connect any wifi :sly:

Wifi problems
Try this - Blade WiFi Fix
Its for the Blade but works on other phones, it keeps the WiFi alive when the screen turns off.
Hope this helps
Also if it works please post here and comment on the app so other people know if they get the same problem as you

Do you have access to the router you are trying to connect to?
If so try changing the channel its on.
Apparently (from reading on another forum) if there is another router in range that's on the same channel it can cause android phones to struggle with connecting.
You could also try - Spare Parts Plus which allows you to change the sleep status
And - Blade Buddy which lets you change your phones WiFi scan interval

Older thread but doesn't seem solved...
Looking at the above, have you checked your wifi sleep policy? It may be set to disconnect when the screen turns off instead of persisting in the background.
This worked for me
I had a similar problem and found it was DHCP. I have 2 iPads, 1 Droid pad, 2 Droid phones, and an iPod in the house. The Apple devices were attempting to seize IP addresses held by the Droid devices.
The Apple devices were trying to get the last IP they were issued and were ignoring the DHCP deny messages coming from the router and mindlessly retrying the request until eventually they either managed to get the IP they wanted or they just took it. (the latter, I think) When that happened, the Apple device would appear in my list of connected devices, the Droid would be out, and it would lose its connection.
After I entered static DCHP reservations for all the wireless devices in the house, my constant disconnects went away.
I would try setting a reservation for your Droid outside the DHCP range configured on your router.
The fix
Im not trying to revive a dead thread but im just trying to help. If you are having the constant disconnect and reconnect wifi problem , it's because your android phone sucks and cannot take the automatic wifi N. Go to your router settings and set to "Use G only". It will work.
Worked perfectly on my parents LG L7 (free phones from fido) I guess it didnt support N at all. My router was on "Mixed A/B/G/N" settings.
Hope this helps.
