Hi guys,
I've the Atrix 4G 4.5.91. It is SIM unlocked and I'm using it in India. I frequently get the popup message asking me to update the firmware to 2.3.6, but I always cancel it as I'm planning to unlock the BL and flash custom ROMs.
Yesterday, I pressed the 'Update' button by mistake and the download got initiated, but as I was not connected to Wi-Fi at that moment, it left a notification 'Enable Wi-Fi to start download update'. This notification is not going away, even if I reboot the phone.
Now I'm not at all using Wi-Fi, fearing that the update will start. How do I get rid of this notification? Is Factory reset the only option?
Pls help. Thanks in advance.
didnt search the forum did you?

I did search. The page you have pointed out is for rooted users. I have not done anything with my mobile yet. It is brand new. It is unrooted and locked bootloader (as you can see from my signature).
And I did not ask about suppressing the updater popup. I already pressed 'Update' (by mistake) and there is a presistent notification on the notification bar asking me to enable Wi-Fi. I just want to get rid of the notification, as I fear that connecting to Wi-Fi would start the update, which I don't want to happen.

my friend accedentally pressed "cancel" when the ota notification pop up. when she went to settings to check for updates, a small window pop up n shows "access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. pls try later"
she tried to reboot her phone but still no luck.
any help?
thanks!:fingers-crossed:
I had this too yesterday when I tried to update from ICS to JB, this morning I tried again and it worked. :cyclops:
Seems that they have some kind of limit for daily updates or something :S
Unfortunately she couldn't get the notification again
When she try to check the update, same thing appears
Any help??

I had that all the time....had to do it through KIES in the end
Why don't you just use Odin? One quick download and then flash the phone. If you prefer using the phone and not a computer get Mobile Odin.
Hi all,
I've started to have an issue with my HTC One X+ where it won't automatically connect to (any) Wi-Fi.
If I then go to settings, Wi-Fi appears as 'Disconnected' but the slider button says 'On'.
If I try and turn it off, it wont turn off. Then 'settings' ends up hanging.
The only way around it is a reboot, but this happens every day now, seems to normally happen when I return home and expect it to drop 3G and connect up to my homes Wifi (as it always has done?).
I really don't want to do a factory reset... I can't say that I've changed anything to cause this...
Does anyone else have the same issue and have you been able to resolve it?
Thanks
I'm having the same problem, but for me I know it didn't start happening until after I did the update. Not sure how to fix either.
Are you both on stock ROM?
I had similar problem after OTA update from AT&T. It was worse than yours since I wasn't able to enable WIFI at all, it just stuck on the "turning on" state. I was able to fix the problem by re-flashing the boot.img following this post:

Btw my phone is rooted but running the stock rom.
Hope this helps.

Yes I'm stock and locked right now because I have some problems I need to return the phone under warranty for, and I have the problem where it is just stuck trying to turn on. Thanks for the link, but until I switch this one under warranty I don't want to do any modifications to void the warranty. As soon as I get the new one I will be unlocking and rooting it immediately, not doing so is killing me right now.
Well just reboot in bootloader mode and flash the correspondent RUU. You know how to find the good version?
[Q] bell galaxy s4, wifi wont enable (stuck at turning on) stock firmware, not rootedtore that unlocked it, the wifi wouldnt enable. The widget stays at the dim green, and in the wifi settings, the switch goes to the 'on' position, but stays grey and says "turning on...' without doing anything. I have searched all over the internet looking for a fix, but everyone is saying i have to either flash custom firmware or root my phone. I dont want to do either. Has anyone found a fix that doesnt invlove either of those options, without having to send the phone back? Is there a driver or something i can use to fix it?
I have already done a factory reset andchecked all the dial pad codes. Please help.

Flash a factory ROM. But this isn't a "Bell" forum (assuming bell.ca).
A safe thing to do is to install Samsung Kies and use "Emergency Firmware Recovery" to re-flash factory stock. That will return you to stock and hopefully repair your wifi.
You can also flash a no-wipe factory ROM that corresponds to the specific build on your device.

Thank you very much for your advice.
would you by any chance know of a no-wipe ROM build for an SGH-i337M on BELL from Canada? That would help out a lot!
I updated to Lollipop and up reboot it gets to the setup screen where it asks you to confirm the language, and a message pops up announcing "sorry the keyboard is non available" and when you hit Next, there is no way to select nor sign into a WiFi SSID on the list. With no keyboard, no go any further. I have tried a factory reset and still the same issue. Unless there is away to get the keyboard back this thing is a brick? Anyone have any ideas?

Is the bootloader locked? If it's not you will be able to flash another stock image with fastboot. Although, if you make a public WiFi network maybe you can choose it without a keyboard, but I've never tried it myself.
My phone showed notification of the new 20160531 stock ROM update on Saturday, but I needed to use the phone and didn't install it.
Now I'd like to go ahead, but can't find a way to start the process - the notification hasn't appeared since. I've tried rebooting, disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi. The Wireless Update app reports to be running, but wouldn't let me force stop and restart.
Thanks!

Could you explain your problem? May I just don't get you.
you tried to install your OTA Update, but it isn't possible anymore?
Restarting and searching manually for the Update via Settings should solve your Problem?
Sure - the OTA update notification appeared for a day, but I didn't install it (I needed the phone that day, didn't want to mess it up). Now I would like to install it (mainly for the promised battery optimisation) but the notification is gone and I don't see any way to get it back.

I haven't found anything about OTA update so far, just Android settings. There is a system app called Wireless Update which provides the notification from Elephone; just says it's running.

Well, go into Settings, below there search for 'About phone'-'About my phone' (at the bottom) and click on 'system updates'.
Is this working?
