What rom is the best for improved wifi distance? - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

Hi
I have been looking through the roms for the viewpad 7 and have to say there a little daunting with so many different issues within the roms. My main questions is which rom/s are most stable and is there any roms that will improve the distance for wifi connection.
I loose my wifi connection at roughly about 10 feet from my router.
My viewpad 7 info is
swver: 3.16r
model:fm6-0001
hwver:106
version 2.2
baseband version pr3.7_128
kernel version apps_2.6.32.9
build number 4027_3_16r
Any advice would be appreciated

Please do not post questions in the Dev section. Moved to General.

Anyone please?

All depends on your system is it ITE etc I think... too many variables... Like everything trying it is the best way to find out but learning curve can be bumpy

a few more have been released now! people should support the 2.3 gingerbread build!

Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.

Please Could You Separate Adroid Roms ???

Hi to all.
What do you think about separate Android roms from WM ???
Is it possible to make a new thread in HD2 section sticked for always ?
Everyone could have this what he need .
Anyone think it's a goog idea ?
For example :
HD2 ANDROID ROM Development ?
Well the real problem right now is that there is no true Android ROM. Yes you can run Android but till it's flashed to the actual phone like you would with a WinMo ROM it's not a ROM.
then name it just "HD2 ANDROID Development"
it would be great if there is an own android section
i agree! all Android Dev together
Yeah set it up like they have in the rhodium forum.
enough threads already exist full of spammers...one more?
why not call it "spam here if u want for hd2 android development"
I think it would work out great having another spot for Android. Soon most people will be running Android on the HD2 anyway. Makes sense
+1
this ended up being a huge help for the development on the TouchPro2 (Rhodium). Someone got mods to create a new forum and then they took the liberty of re-organizing all the builds and kept up with the development and its still running nice and neat.
I think this would be a great idea for the HD2, it is about as far along as it can get now and is already attracting more attention. No need to clutter up the WinMo ROM development forums
+1 Also
This made the HD1 forum better with a separate sub-forum for Android.
What I also think would be a good idea in ALL the forums really is a dedicated ROM release forum where ONLY roms can be posted and no general questons etc. That way you could cycle through the rom list without it been swamped with lots of other posts.
i agree, a subforum dedicated to this imortant issue (android on HD2) would be very useful for the general order of the forum according to me.
the android builds are beeing created and updated everyday (thanks to all the developers) but only two 3ds (in different subforums!) exist...
I found finding info about Andorid confusing so please separate in another forum.
+1 I love this idea.
i sign this good idea +1
+1 For a new subforum for HD2 Android development.
+1 its really necessary

+1 on both ideas !
+1 from me too never got into android for the tp2 but now i have got bored of win mo on hd2 i am enjoying playind with android
+1 here too. It would make life so much easier (and would get rid of people asking for it )
I dunno. There are only really a couple of threads that are relevant, and you can keep up to date with progress on the irc channel.
I seem to be keeping up ok by READING and SEARCHING.
+1 from me, it would make keeping track of things easier, assuming people read what's there instead of posting crap!

Best ROM for 2.2

Hi guys I am a little confused with all the different ROMS going around - which is the 'best' bear in mind this will be used for my HTC Hero (or G2 Touch as it is called on T-Mobile) and i'd like to use GPS & WiFi quite frequently.
Thanks
Moved to Q&A as not development.
This question has been asked countless times, and the answer is that it's up to you to decide. Threads such as this left open unfortunately gather flames and arguments.
Have a look at the releases of Froyo (2.2) ROMs in the dev forum (all are for hero), read the features, and try a couple. Keep an eye out for updates and what features you are after.
Thread shut to prevent flames and due to being asked before several times.

[Q] Why not use android versions instead of development and original development

Hey guys. I know I may be a noob but I've been doing android development for the past 3 years and following your forum for quite some time.
Now that ICS is out and there are quite a few developers building roms for it, why not separate the the forum into ICS roms and gingerbread roms? It seams a lot more sensible and organized to me than organizing by android development and original android development.
Any thoughts?
Been asked probably half a dozen times over the past few months & the answer has been no every time. As to the why of that, search for those other threads & you'll see a moderator or two explain.
In a nutshell if you have not read the stickie .
Android development
One Original development
Two Not Original development takes bits from others and stick them in a rom and usually heavily themed .
Eventually GB development will die off so that's going to be a dead forum .
What the point really just like the OP posted in the wrong section .
jje
I understand the difference between original development and non-original development but at the end of the day they're both ROMs for the same phone and the same software version of Android.
The big differences come between android versions. I think in terms of organisation it makes a lot more sense to organise forums by what users will be interested in finding and I believe people are more interested in which version of android a rom is running rather than if its an original development or not (not that this isn't interesting by itself but versions are more interesting imho).
As for it becoming a dead forum later, I think everything eventually dies as technology advances, not just roms but the phone models themselves so sooner or later all forums will be replaced by newer ones.

Your suggestions would be fair enough if this was a users forum. But as it's a developers forum, the way it's setup now works just fine.

[Q] Best No- Sense ROM? Coming from a pure CM9 Experience

Hi I'm coming from a Droid X running CM9 unofficial. When I got my 3D I immediately unlocked it but did not install a custom ROM. It is running Android 2.3.4 Sense 3.0 Software Number 2.08651.2 with HBoot 1.500.
I'm looking for a ROM that is basically stock ICS (or JB) without Sense (I really don't like Sense). Does anybody know of such ROMS?
From doing quite a bit of searching on the forum it looks like my best options are either:
SOS M
Or
d3rpics
If I did pick one of these two ROMs, would I have to get s-off using the wire trick? Is there anything I would have to do before flashing one of those ROMs?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
OK I think I'm gonna go with D3rpICS Bareback. Knowing my specs, how should I go about flashing? Can I simply flash it right now or do I have to get S-off, update HBoot, or anything?
Thanks!
You should be able to flash either as is, but being s-off allows you to flash the Rom without flashing the kernel separately.

Dastin's CM10/Kangnam Style is what I'm running. Even without the camera it runs great. My signature has my current setup.
Guys just to let you know, threads that have the best Rom opinion line or similarbl are getting closed. According to papasmurf, these threads creates a conflict among users about what is the best Rom and could potentially start a flaming war. Just want give you guys a heads up.

why exactly is this happening?
users like to know opinions of which rom they like using. so there should atleast be official discussion threads for sense and aosp. it's a forum to discuss things.
Well that's what the general section is for. If they closed threads over here based on a question asked, what's to become of the actual discussion threads in general? If you ever go over there, check out some of the threads. People have gotten mad and would call another memeber a name I can't really say but it started with an f and ended with the word prick. It could be just one opinion of a moderator but if you seen what I seen then its supported with that reasoning.

as those roms don't sound too familiar to me I'm going to assume that they're CDMA, in which case you might want to take a look at agragren's rom conveniently located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826747
bear in mind that agrabren publishes both GSM and CDMA versions of his rom, however it is a GSM thread so people generally tend to complain when someone starts talking CDMA. That said, 0.2.0 is about to drop which has a fully functioning 2D cam making it one of the rare JB roms with a cam.
please bear in mind that shooteru is the GSM version whereas shooter is CDMA
hope this helps
P.S. in order to properly flash this rom and a lot of other roms or rather their kernels you might need to get S-off

I'm not sure what thread you are referencing but IMO that should be an infraction for the user(s) involved rather than a reason to close down the thread. I haven't read the exchange you are quoting but it sounds like it would be in violation of either or both of the following rules taken directly from the Forum & Marketplace Rules posted at the top on each forum:
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.

If a thread gets out of hand and a number of users are violating the forum rules, by all means it should be closed. But if it's just one or two users that are flaming at each other the mods should be able to handle it without having to punish everyone by closing down the thread, let alone all related threads.

These kind of threads r not allowed on xda. Search download and try the different roms and make ur own opinion

Custom ROM 4.4.2 Opinions???

I am currently running an excellent 4.4.2 custom ROM on my I9100. Unfortunately, development has been suspended. I would like to continue updating my phone as time goes on (both for fun and for improved function). I've looked at several alternatives in this forum which interest me. However, I've decided that I'd like to install the smallest, most vanilla version possible. There is a SuperNexus version available, but it seems to be generally very inactive. I'm looking for a version that is being updated weekly, at a minimum, and has a fair number of participants.
Opinions?
Thanks.
Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
