Thanks for your reply sir
maybe you should just wait until another way of rooting appears, the only way at this time to root xperia is with unlocked BL as you already might know. I ve done some research as well, and I ve found nothing about unlocking blocked bootloader either. if you hadn't tried yet, you could have a loot at this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
dont you worry there is root ,ones we get the 4.0.4 there is a way to root look on the xperia series 2011 if it will work on their 4.0.3 it will work on ours with some changes! pray that we get that quickly.
Problem with the 2.3.7 is that the it bug free everyony try to root in HTC, Samsung so companies did the fix so now is quit difficult to root !!! I mean without unlocked bootloader !!!
Stop cried it out about that be patient
edit There is no rush to root phone is fully work , at least my one there is no need to root nay way
- camera is work fine
- mp3 player is superb, equlizer+bass boost
-flash work great
- is not laggish
- Sony did good work with the ui view
2 reason why root only so is not to bad
there is no NTFS support one thing,
OC will be good but for now is still in progress, we can wait

Could anybody let me know please, how to root the Sony tablet with the Android Versio 4.0.3?
Thanks

Have a look at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515720
it can't be done at this stage on a device with ICS already installed. You need to preroot the ICS image on a rooted Honeycomb device before you flash it.

Thanks a lot for the answer. Is there any instruction how to preroot ?

Doesn't work
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA
4.0.3 Is unrootable for now maby the devs will find out how to root these kernels that came with the original update. Have a little hope guys
Still the good way
It doesn't work but it's still the good way to go : search the web and test / report anything found about rooting an ICS 4.0.3 device !
If many people do that, we will have a chance to discover something usefull.
Can't wait for ICS Sony Tablet S root!
You gotta love the Devs! That ADB All-In-One tool is amazing! It helped me to make my own copy of ICS to flash anytime in the future.... even if I screw-up my OS. It totally saved me from my temporarily bricked honeycomb Sony Tablet S. I'm happily waiting for their ICS official root tool.
root 4.0.3 ics
Are the devs close to rooting the sony tablet s ics(4.0.3). When do you thi k it will come out
Anyone hear any news on this? I know if they do make root for this version, I will never, ever do a stock update again. I soooooo miss my root!

Considering less than 50% of the people who promised a donation for rooting honeycomb actually paid up i doubt the original guy is busting a gut....
Where can I donate at? I am willing to chip in if it helps speed up the process
I would also donate!! when it help to root 4.0.3 (not prerooted). It a great tablet but i miss root

Pledge for rooting official ICS
Bring these back alive. Get them to a tempting amount for their efforts. AND hopefully everyone will pay this time
I hope we get root atleast, I screwed up tab and had to force update and got kernel 10 for my efforts lol.

Hello everyone.
I tried rooting my Xperia ray today using this guide: http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/root-your-xperia-phone-without-voiding-warranty/
Bear with me, you might find all of this tedious to read. My phone came with GB 2.3.4 build .62 which is hard to root. So as the above guide directed, I downloaded a .42 build firmware, CE(Central Europe perhaps? I don't know) and tried to flash it using flashtool. I disconnected the phone from the PC in between. My phone wouldn't boot. Then I used SUS and updated it to ICS, making the phone work. I then flashed it to GB .42 patiently, and with success. Alas, problems started immediately. Many processes such as media, calender storage, acro etc came up as stopped working. Even after selecting force close they would keep appearing. I cleared the respective cache/data and the notifications stopped. Then I rooted it using Doomlord's toolkit, and updated to .62 via OTA, keeping my root. A few things have changed. The keyboard name is the same, International keyboard, but it is different and I don't like it. Camera is not working. Screen goes blank if I open the camera. Messaging does not work and the messaging app crashes as soon as I open it. No contacts are found, despite importing them again. (They all show up when using the import from SIM option, it says importing is done but they are nowhere to be found). I called someone manually. While calling his name shows up but my contacts is completely blank. Google search is not working and it crashes too. There might be other problems, but I haven't checked. Anything in particular to check? Please help me solve all these issues. I'm glad my phone is rooted now, but it's next to useless due to all this. Please help me.
Great. Even the screen unlock security seems to not work. No slide to unlock. No pattern unlock even though I saved a pattern. I press the power button, the phone just shows the home. No security. How do I fix all this? PC Companion? SUS? And I don't want ICS so I won't use them if that's what they're going to update my phone to rather than fix it.
Do a complete wipe data/factory reset or flash .42 again, if this won't work take it to a service center cause it's a hardware issue

Oh my God. Yet again, a small step proved to be highly useful. I can't thank you enough! :good::good::good::good::good::good:
Side note: I'm thinking about unlocking my bootloader, mainly for installing a custom kernel to overclock and probably for using custom ROMs in the future. I know that I will lose my DRM, so I can't run trackid and timescape. What else wont I be able to run? Is DRM that important? Can I unlock the bootloader with a method that will keep my warranty? Thanks in advance.

No problem, hope it's going well now :good:
1. Overclocking can destroy your phone/phone's hardware. I've never overclocked and I wouldn't do it...
2. DRM are not important and trackid should work with the latest version. Not sure about timescape, maybe with an updated version it works
3. You can just keep your warranty by unlocking with testpoint method. Here is a great tutorial and sony won't notice it, only when your phone is bricked up
But testpoint is just working until a specific build number of the hardware, it should be mentioned somewhere in the thread!

Alright, thanks. I've decided to not unlock the bootloader, because all I wanted to do was overclock but I guess that's harmful.
Another side not: Have you bought an Xperia Sola yet? I read that you wanted to

Android 4.2.1? Oh just saw your sig you have CM 10.1. I've heard that Android 4.0 and above versions don't work well on 2011 Xperia devices.
How's it running? Is it better than the stock GB ROM? How's the gaming performance? If that's fine, I might install the ROM in the near future. Also, do you use Chainfire 3D? V6 Supercharger? Any other apps that enhance performance? Sorry for asking so many questions

No I'm not using any mods or tweaks, just sd maid to clean my sd sometimes, but jellybean is running smooth without any tweaks

I think you have gotten a lot of good advice from Mihahn and I just wanted to add some suggestions before you unlock your bootloader...you probably want to get comfortable working with CWM Recovery. It has been a while since I did this on GB but there are a bunch of tools that you can use to put recovery onto GB stock roms and a good place to start is this thread in Ray Dev: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426912
Also before you decide you just gotta have a certain ROM, take a good look at the OP for the ROM....there may be something not working correctly that would be a deal breaker for you....there are some features that only work properly on a stock based ROM. This is particularly true of the Jelly Bean 4.2 build for the Ray....the 4.1 ROMs are working pretty good.....but if you absolutely love the sony camera app then you have to stay on a stock ROM.
Have fun!
Hi, still NEWBIE here in android era.
i have an XPERIA MINI st15i. just got it last sept. 2012.
i rooted my phone but it is still LOCKED BL.
Just wanna ask about your OPINIONS/SUGGESTIONS about advantages of UNLOCKING the BL.
Aside from having custom kernel. is there any other significance?
and one more thing, if I unlock my phone, it can still be RELOCK from what i seen here in the forum.
if i Relock my BL, and flash the stock .ftf. will it be accepted in SONY, and my warranty will not be void?
asking with your help SIR/MADAM.
don't be too harsh for me if posting this thread is a total noob.
i will delete it if i made a violation in the forum rules.
THANKS and God BLESS+

Hi.
Do it and don't look back as the advantages far outweigh the negatives, and it makes modding your Phone so much easier in the long run, just be sure to READ READ READ! before attempting to do anything, not doing still catches advanced users out too from time to time, but it's even more important to do so when you're starting to learn.
thanks!
Thanks for the replies. Really appreciate your guidance..
Well i guess i know what to do now. Just read and learn more. I made my phone rooted and installed many roms. Therefore i can make it unlock too. . Heheh.
Thanks again. Thanks fiir the link!
More power!
My personal experience.
I have an lww, a very spectacular phone in stock ics rom... But when i unlocked my bootloader, a world of android community opens.
Modded kernels brinds your phone speed, look, smooth, and a lot of other characterist.
A important point is the Overclock/Underclock, wich is the reason because i decide to unlock my phone, and i 1.6 Ghz the change is notory, and dont lost much battery life in ics.
My opinion: UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER, and taste the flavour of jelly bean!

Don't overclock your phone to 1.6 ghz as it may burn your cpu....1.2 or 1.4 is ideal for daily use...(though I don't recommend overclocking the phone at all)

I think 10.1.1.A.1.253 is an earlier version. Mine was bought about 2 months ago and it came with 10.1.1.A.307. You can try Doomlord's root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333566). It works for me, albeit on 307.

If you're asking such basic questions, I'd just leave things alone or you're heading for disaster (and risk upsetting your mom at the same time by voiding her warranty & loosing all the Sony DRM keys)

Thank you for answer, altough I am newbie at these stuff, I am sure I'd keep up with marshmallow despite I have better experience on lollipop. My main question is can i even hope for making new root solutions for xperia z5 compact, as this is now considered "foreign" phone jn my opinion, because of a lot of new brands coming to the top. So can I even hope got it or should I just go on Nougat. I won't experiment until my warranty is over as I am new to these stuff so I'd prefer root solution for locked bl.
Again thanks for answer and sorry for bother i know these are moronic questions for u
I'm also still hoping for a root solution with locked bootloader. I came from z3 compact, and there was no issue there. Even worked with kingroot, so why not z5, right?
