[Q] Onda Vi40(Allwinner A10) - USB Brick - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hoping some of you guys with a little more knowledge round here will be able to help with this one.
I believe I've USB bricked my Onda VI40 v3 16gb, I can't access the internal sd card and the device wont communicate with my pc when its connected by usb.
I have CWM Recovery installed and can access and flash roms from it but pretty much all of the guides to unbrick the usb require fastboot and I cant for the life of my work out how to get it on the Vi40.
Can anyone shed some light on how to access fastboot on the Vi40 or any other suggestions for unbricking the usb.
I have flashed multiple different roms on to the device in an attempt to fix it with no luck.
I can access an emulated terminal screen on the tablet when booted if thats of any help.
I have also tried the image_flash and mtd0.img fix but I don't know the devices CID so that doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.

Go back to the original rom
check what version is your onda vi40 by checking the serial numbers at the back (ex Xxxv3xxx) means its a v3.
then go to onda.cn and look for your version firmware.
you nay have to use Google translate.
now once you have downloaded the correct firmware version pls remember to rename the image file which is in Chinese to any English name. hmmm on second thought go to slatedroid.com and search for the onda forums they have a detailed English guide to help you.
don't panic, the same thing happened to me on my onda vi10 elite but my mistake was flashing a custom firmware. just like you I lost some partitions but when I flashed the original 4.03 v1.1 firmware and selected format the tablet is fine again.

Vi40 16gb v3 - can you flash using osx?
Hi all, my vi40 was connected to my MacBook pro the other night ttransfer some mp3s and I think I may have turned Off USB mode on the tablet before unmounting.
Now every time I try to install an app I get the "no space left" type message altjough there's about 15gb of space left.
Almost like permissions won't allow write
Downloading from play store starts but never completes
I'm thinking may be best to reflash the firmware?
I only have macs though.
If I have a mate with a vi40 same model would I be able to clone his onto my tablet using mac carbon copy cloner app maybe?
Cheers
Chris

Ps every time I turn off and reboot it reverts to Chinese too

Easy, run BootCamp on your Mac, I have bootcamp on two of my macs and they run windows 7 pretty nicely

Hi ,
Have you tried to reflash with livesuite ? if not then do it with a stock rom and reflash cwm from there no ? remember to enable "usb mode" by pressing menu key then plugging the tablet to the pc ( the menu key act as a temporizer for the tablet to be detected in that mode afaik)

Prime is soft bricked - Help?

I recently purchased an Asus Transformer Prime TF201 from ebay with a custom rom preinstalled. I was not a fan of said rom so I decided I would do a factory reset and thought that the previous owner would back up the original OS. Now every time I boot up my prime it goes to CWM... I have tried every option but I am stuck in a boot loop with CWM. I tried to restore from a backup, when it is complete it says it was successful but I am still stuck in this loop. I have downloaded ADB and when I write "adb devices" it comes back with nothing. When I write "adb logcat" it comes back with "-waiting on device-". So I assume the drivers were not set up. I have downloaded the drivers but I cannot get them to install properly through my Windows XP system. It just says failed every time. I'm guessing it is not recognizing it since it has no operating system. What should I do? I feel like I have exhausted all resources. I can give any detailed information that you want, but just be specific about what you want from me. Thank you in advance, I am pulling my hair out at the moment.

You try to just flash a new rom? Also follow these steps?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088
I cannot flash a new rom since i can not move any file onto the internal memory since my computer does not recognize my tablet. I also cannot follow those steps since I cannot access my tablet.
anyone?
Use a micro-sd card?
Or SD card if you have the dock...
I don't have an SD card, I will have to pick one up tonight. I figured that was my only option. But if my computer cannot recognize my tablet, will it once it is in my tablet? I could always put a rom on the sd card with another computer and than move it over and try to flash. Is there anyway I could find the stock rom, I have searched high and low.

Getting an sd card is not going to fix your problem. You are stuck in a cwm bootloop which is called brick type 1a and you need to sort that first.
The link in the post above takes you to the page that shows you how to get out of brick type 1a but without adb you are not going to be able to do it so you need to get drivers working on your machine or go onto another machine and get drivers installed then fix that first.
Once that is fixed you have 3 options. You can either restore your backup and it should now work or you can adb push a new rom to the internal sd and flash that or you can flash TWRP thru fastboot and that will give you access to an external sd once you have bought one and flash that way.
Either way you are going to have to fix brick type 1a first.

[Q] Restore bootloader on Chinese tablet (BC1003), Superpad 8, Flytouch VIII

Help. I have a Superpad 8 Chinese tablet that will not boot.
At first, it would boot only as far as the "Andrtoid" boot animation and just hang there.
Then I started trying to restore a different ROm to it.
ADB sees it, and I was able to pull the /system directory from the tab.
After trying to flash a ROM to it using this "Livesuite" app I found, , which completed successfully, but since then, when the tab boots, it displays absolutely nothing.
ADB still sees it, but whatever command I send (adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader), it just reboots and does nothing...
Can ANYBODY help, please?
I am still very new to ADB & troubleshooting Android, so I need all the help I can get!
Thanks in advance, and if you manage to get this tab working for me, I'll buy you a beer or 5...

Hi Have the same problem if anyone can help Please. I'm still new to all this
same problem any ideas
any ideas to fit the problem?
Hello, I had a very similar problem which I had which might help with a BC1003 user.
first was the internal LCD cable came loose.. common problem...
Another was it would not boot at all. So I used Livesuit with "sun4i_crane_bc1003.img" dated August 2012... November 2012 did not work!.
It does appear to matter which .img file you use (unfortunately), because the WiFi does not work with the November version.
hi ... same tablet, some problem...

hi ... same tablet, some problem...
after 3 days trying every possible firmware, and booting them from external sd card
all i could do was change de logo at boot start from (mapan to kosaco, to oem etc..)
than i had the idea of removing the internal sd card to look at it ...
and guess what it still runs the same with out no sd card in or out
so i thought ... the sd card was never read in the first place cause is damage or corrupted...
so on the 4th day im trying to format and partition the new internal sd card... hoping for the best.
by know u may not even have that tablet anymore but is food for thought for a next android promblems.

help with Pyle Astro PTBL92BC tablet and CWM

Hello all at XDA!
I'm new here and to the Android OS. Got a " Pyle Astro PTBL92BC " for yule. (I bet you all have heard this before)
I managed to root it using " ROOTx " but now I want to Dive in to Custom ROMs and tweaks. I have been looking on the net, and found not much info about Pyle's Tablets at all.. looks like a Generic android tablet nothing special about it.
Have been reading and looks like I should install something like ClockworkMod Recovery but looking at CWM's site their is a lot of versions... I don't know how to find the right one for me.. So if and when I mess this up, I can fix it and not hurt my father in-laws feelings for bricking his present to me.
So what info do I need to find the right one? all I can tell you about is..
Model:
PTBL92BC
Android Ver:
4.0.4
Baseband:
1.5
Kernel:
3.0.8+ [email protected] #1
Build #: 913A.V2.10.TZX.R01.BT.eng.0826.1009
Thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, there is no custom recoveries for your device. With that being said, there really isn't much we can say about ROMs either.

Yes, I am a newb, but I thought ROOtx couldn't actually ROOT a device. Is this wrong? Could you explain further?
I have had success on rooting the device using the Kingo rooting tool for PC. I have rooted the device and now I am working on a CWM recovery for it which I have booted successfully into but haven't been able to mount sd card or anything correctly yet.

I was wondering how you got Kingo to recognize the tablet. Im having trouble getting windows to recognize the tablet once i put it in USB debugging mode. Do you have some Pyle USB drivers? Or is there a step im missing here.
Kingo "recognized" it once, but it was as a samsung galaxy so i assumed it would be bad to proceed with a Root when the program was assuming it was a different device. Any advice for me?
Thanks!

I was in the same situation after trying to flash some random CWM not compatible with this chinese tablet.
To reflash the original firmware on it you need the flashing tool: PhoenixUSBPro
AND
you need the firmware (.IMG) file . this one was provided to me by the manufacturer: PTBL9C
Image file only HERE
Only inconvenience is that it is not the one for the Bluetooth capable Tablet ( their mistake).
Once I have the one for the PTBL92BC ( bluetooth capable) I will update .
Instructions on how to use that tool is summed up in the picture within the file attached PTBL9C.
BUT
If you need clearer steps you can follow instructions HERE

Just follow these instruction from another thread in XDADev. : HERE
It works for that tablet. Now Once you have root you can install Super SU pro and set it as a native app.

Unbrick amlogic tablets
Hello stoio
I have almost the same Tablet. It's a Prestigio PMP5580C, for me it is labeld as Intenso Tab 814, but they are completely the same. I have tried to find the u-boot.bin in the stock firmware, but I didn't sucess yet. I've downloaded several tools which allows me to make my 16 GB MicroSD card recognized as a 512 MB SD card, there I have to put the files on it to unbrick my tablet, it's amlogic (like my username) (someone told me that this is the chipset). It has a TOSHIBA TC58TEG6DCJTA00 NAND flash chip of 8 GB capazity. I also need help by getting my tablet unbricked.
In the future Inwant to learn with this amlogic based tablet how to create custom ROM's, recoveries and custom boot splash screens.
Thanks for any help, I reall appreciate your help,
Please note that I'm from Germany and my English is not good as it should used to be, but I have a dictionary (as a normal book) where I can get good communication with you. I like the idea of using english only.
Every Image (.img) were made with the dd command, I need to look inside in the images and open the content, I used a hex editor and tried to strip off the 2k of data, but I can't success. I'm using this tutorial:
I'm using this hex editor under linux: Okteta
I don't know how to delete the 2k of data. I need to know what content the partitions have to unbrick my amlogic based tablet, cause I'm seeing still the white android robot, and the charging battery or charged plugin picture, but this tablet doesn't have a bootloader or recovery so I'm out of ideas, the only way for me is to use a microsd card like an live cd to automatically let this tablet flash stock firmware, but where is it? Please help me out, I meight be wrong, it's possible that different repairing ways exist, too.

Tablet stuck on EFI Shell. USB ports disabled.

Hello. I'll try to explain my problem because I really need some help.
A few days ago, I was normally using my Tablet ECS TR10RS1 Intel®.... I turned it off, went to sleep and the next day when I was going to use it again, the OS didn't start, so I tried and tried until I found a forum where they led me to restore a backup file because the original firmware/rom wasn't still available.... publicly. I tried that, but in the process, I accessed the EFI Shell... That wasn't trouble at all, I just plugged the keyboard and typed "exit", and then it let me to the BIOS... And that's when my real problem began: I restored the factory setting default... and it involves "disabling USB ports".... Now, AGAIN, I'm stuck on EFI Shell. But this time, I can not type "exit" since the keyboard is not recognized by the Tablet.
Then I pressed Vol UP + Power ON and I get access to another menu "DNX".... And that's what brings me here to your forum:
I was briefly reading that one of your members managed to flash the BIOS via DNX, so I was wondering if you guys could help me do that to my tablet because I'm not planning to have a really expensive paper holder.
Thanks in advance.
Jinky.
Not sure about your case. But as your tablet use clovertrail chip like my zenfone 5 n fonepad7 170CG, then there's some methods to unbrick like via fastboot, flashtool, or intel factory flash tool... all of above are required a valid firmware, at least a IFWI package then intel FFT can unbrick anyway. So try to find your need, as i tried to help u to find it, but most of webpages use spanish, then i didn't understand anything
