Homescreen not remembered? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So really often when I use some apps and then click the homebutton the homescreen has to reload first. I first see my bsckgroud and then all my apps come up. This takes like 1-3 secs but is really annoying. I don't recognize this behaviour, however, so does anyone know if this is normal or not. If not a fix would also be nice.

use english dude this forum is for all not a personell forum.......

Give some more info about your phone:
- GB or ICS
- custom rom or original
- etc
Most custom roms have a fix for the homebutton lag.

When put through Google Translate it comes back as:
"I do not understand you want to ask". Or in other words, he doesn't understand the question himself.

Im sorry. Im on the stock ics rom.

Go to stock dialer enter *#1234# this will give us some of the information that we require. While on that screen press volume down/power button at the precise same time. This will create a snapshot of your screen. Upload the snapshot or take down the details.

It's not homebutton lag actually. My guess would be that for some reason the homescreen gets thrown out the ram memory and it has to be built up again

The only thing i can sugest is you wipe the cache and or back up your apps and data using TB then factory wipe/reset.. Sorry but about your only options.

[Q] 2.3.5 Stock Browser User Agent Help.

Anyone come across a modded stock browser yet? I'm using Villain Rom 3 which is based on stock 2.3.5. Any help to get back to one with user agent switching would be much appreciated.
You could always type about:useragent in the address bar to change it. Not as convenient as going to the settings menu but its an idea for now.

dont try and be a smartyass like i did and try it yourself...cause i did and ended up losing my internet on the phone...followed the guide and everything but to no avail. then i read in the thread there are a few problems with regarding the mod to get on the rom and Pulser was going to have a look..
Now i dont know if its there now but drop a message on his thread and see what they say...always wait till the dev puts the tweaks in the rom or his apk app..unless you know what your doing then go ahead

can you post the source....from where you found this rom
What is working?
I do not know what works and what does not
on the site also does not say it
rom is booting, but i can't unlock the phone
a blue circle which is moving over my finger and all
Seems to me it's from this forum-
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=284507&st=40&start=40
This isnt a development thread, a moderator should move it to general section because its a link to another webpage only.
The main thing about this rom is the sensors are not working, the boot up is different and wierd. normal booting time. Sensors are totally not working. Force Close at start up.Well Its pre alpha so this bugs are common. just wait for andy's ics phoenix rom coming out soon.

Okay, i tested and flashed this ROM, its not at all similar to SWEATTAIMIs port.. this one uses .32 kernel while SWEATTAIMIs uses a .35 kernel.. i guess this has been done from the source as there are many different bugs...
I got a headache trying to unlock this ROM.. LOL.
anyway, wait for andys ROM...

[Q[ ram always high and phone is laggy

hi guys,
I got my S3 about 3 weeks ago, (a noob in android) i recently flashed the rom to an unbranded version because i hate the bloatware but one thing i noticed is that my ram is really high on the device and when scrolling through the homescreens there's sometimes a delay in response or goes to the next screen with lag. when i go to task manager my ram is always above 500mb of 779mb. Even when i clear the memory it goes down to about 400 but then comes back up.
what could be the issue. don't really have anything running in the background. i did download go keyboard and go sms pro but I'm pretty sure that is not the cause of it. it even happened when i had the branded version of the firmware installed.
any ideas?
Thanks
Go software is very laggy. But yeah I have very few running processes and have high ram usage. I don't know why. It was the same with my s2. But I'm not sure y your laggy. Mines a beast
Wipe cache?
it I do ever get laggy I just hold home button and swipe to end background running processes
Hope this helps mate.

thanks for your response mate,
Ive tried wiping cache stopping useless processes but even after that its still quite laggy and when i swipe to remove that even lags... pretty bizzare
RAM usage is supposed to be high. Please read the link in my signature. The lag must be something else. Possible drawing issue on whatever launcher you have.

The GPU may not be very good on the sIII, the GPU controls video, scrolling, animations, ect. But my guess would be that its just a badly coded ROM. Go on the forms for that ROM and see if its a common issue.

Have you tried:
Setting animation speed to 0.5 from 1.0 in settings/ development?
Enabling gpu rendering?
Setting maxheapsize=128 mb (from 256 mb) in build. prop?
Clear both caches, reset permissions, reboot
Also, removing all bloatware helps

you need to be rooted, edit /system/build.prop using root explorer or es explorer (the /system file system needs to be mounted read/write first)
you have to reset permissions from cwm (clockworkmod), again this needs root

So I restarted the phone again and it didn't give the problem again and the movement does seem much better now thanks for that. I so know it comes to my next question that when you I exit an app the home screen redraw, and this is why I'm wondering why is my ram usage so high when I'm not using much I can the background or not using any launchers. I'm using beautiful widgets super clock screencast button and spanner month with a live background surely those can't use up 500mb ram can it?

[Q] on ROM but how to go back to Sense?

So I've been running a custom ROM for just about 24 hours now, it's a great ROM great on battery life but there are little things that I miss/were removed on this ROM that well I can't do without (I get it some folks like it this way but hey I wanted to try something different and ok I want to go back to regular Sense haha) so what do I have to flash to get back to Sense but I want to stay unlocked and Rooted so I can do the things I want to do ( Wi-Fi tether, LMT launcher, flash a battery saving kernel and hopefully flash photo sphere) thank you in advance
What rom are you on? Did you create a nandroid backup before you flashed the rom? If you did you can just restore if you rooted before you made the backup ajdn flashed rom.
