Hi
I have a question. Is it not possible to receive .apk files through Bluetooth in ICS??
Cause I'm sure I received it through Bluetooth in Gingerbread.
Or is it a limitation for CM9 or AOSP ROMS.
Is there any app that can be used to bypass this limitation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201952
I read this post. An obvious solution is to replace the .apk to .txt and send.
But just curious if there is a limitation in ICS.??

Thanks but my main doubt is, Is apk file sharing a limitation in ICS?
Same
Yes. I am using Sandvold's ICS v0.16.1 it's the most clean version of ICS custom rom for HTC Desire. And I surely can't receive APK files with bluetooth. (I'm not using any additional bluetooth apps though I'm just using builtin bluetooth)
I was on cm9 and now on cm10 but have not faced any issue to receive apk files via system Bluetooth without any special app.
Maybe you can activate other sources under security settings and try. This is just a guess

I'm on Stock ICS LP7 and I send and receive .APK files with no trouble
On my phone, I can receives apk file on sammy rom, but not cm9 or other AOSP rom. I had to zip them every time before I can send them.
Remove the extension .apk doesn't seem to help.
same thing on Motorola Atrix 2 running ICS (stock)
Can't send APK files using the system bluetooth app though it was possible on gingerbread.
Though Google limited this feature , they've given us another feature which was not on gingerbread ... now it's possible to use internet using a wifi hotspot we creat using a laptop without any wireless router .. so it's good i guess

On aosp/cm/aokp send and recieve them only using zipped archieves. Sometimes sending to pc is ok. Recieving is an issue. Sending to other phones only works to phones with stock roms...

I want to switch dialer apk from one rom to another should just use take files and place them in rom from my computer using win zip then re flash the rom? is there an easier way... sometimes it doesn't take...
Take the dialers...
The original one located in system/app
Rename it from dialer.apk to dialer.apk.bak
Then put the other dialer in, system/app
Reboot see if it works fine.
If it doesn't you'll get fcs.
If it works then it works.
If it doesn't...
Go back to system/app
Delete the dialer.apk you got from another rom.
And the original you had remove.bak from it and reboot..
I suggest you only switch apk from vibrant roms, using others like... Htc dialer probably won't work and sometimes you may have to re flash rom.
P.s.
Use root explorer to do the renaming moving etc. it's a paid app, worth it!
If you want a free, use astro file manager

I have the one with the call recording feature but it is useless. Does your phone really record phone calls ?
The only thing mine does is create empty audio files. so I had to replace them (phone & DialerAct.) with the ones from an earlier Bionix ROM.
i never thought of using bionix...I like the the themed dialer..with rec...

What sort of files are you trying to send? There's an odd limitation on this phone that stops you from bluetoothing files above a certain size.
You can get around this though by installing Bluetooth File Transfer from the Market.
Hope this helps!

Jarmezrocks recently changed it so he's not releasing another seperate ICS ROM. He now packages his Wifi Calling packages for different ICS ROM's now. You can find it Here
Ya I saw that already me and another guy on the passion fb page tried to get one working but it was a no go something with the build.prop wasn't working

Wifi-calling
It's not working yet. In order to make a flashable for any particular ROM, it would have to have changes to that ROMS build.prop and framework.jar files. He is working on it, though.

hey Ray...long time no see
apparently Jarmezrocks has wifi calling for various ICS builds. I was holding off on ICS due to having no signal at home and needing wifi calling..now I think Ill try Passion ICS for vibrant and the wifi calling app.
Sorry Ive been MIA...things havent been great..still doing chemo and it hasnt been working..nothing life threatening..just annoying when there is no end in sight.
I did get to meet up with Jdan in NH though. That was cool
hi
if i use wifi no ads in xda free app. if i use data-3g i got ads. i push host file in etc folder and used adfree app but no luck.
pls a solution.

Buy the premium app.
The XDA app was probably developed by someone in their free time. If you don't want to look at ads in the free version, the least you can do is chip in a buck or two to whoever developed it and buy the premium app.
Quite simple, navigate to Play Shop, search for XDA PREMIUM, click buy! Voila, you now have no ads in XDA app

Could be the wifi router you are connected to when you are not getting ads has a firewall active, that is blocking the ad server.
pissyhun, are you still on krinyo's SlimROM? Or are you trying to push his hosts file to another ROM. That's what I want to do when I try AOKP, but have to research first - never done it before.

PM turned on, try again.
This thread is hilariously inappropriate in so many ways
FWIW, I have xda premium. My slightly OT question to the OP is regarding installation of hosts file, nothing else. Adfree doesn't work that well for me.
Adaway works better than adfree, the question could have been phrased better though.

This may sound wierd but i really really really really need a rom with no working wifi access at all (personal reasons).
Could someone please guide towards a ROM that has no wifi working or does anyone know of i totally disable the wifi on my samsung i5500.
I did try a rom from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489896
but could get CWM to open the package and i also realised that the mic isnt working on the that ROM.
My needs are very basic, texting, phoning, music and alarm.
Search in the forums about ROMs with wifi bug or something else.
Or Google if there is any way to definitive disable wifi I dont know...

first of all there is no rom without wifi (=every rom has got an built in driver)
so that means you have to deactivate the wifi function completely
or you have to delet the wifi driver (what i wouldn't do)
please let me know when you have found something or you got t an result
thanks
PS: i hope that i could help

What do you need.
A rom without wifi option or rom that don't support wifi.
You can try to remove wlan0 interface from build.prop file.
Also you can try to delete wifi folder from systeb but it may cause bootloop.
If you want only rom that don't have wi fi option you can use apk multi tool to decompile settings.apk and remove wi-fi option from it. (it should be in /res/xml folder at one of the files possibly wireless or something like that. it should be first and secound item but make sure it is it before removing anything).
