Can't boot back into WebOS - TouchPad General

Hi
I used a tool in WebOS to automatically set my boot preference to Android, but the problem is now that I want to go back to WebOS, the volume key selection screen no longer appears.
Does anyone know how I can get back into WebOS? The power menu of my ROM doesn't have the boot to WebOS option.
Thanks

with TP off press the on button until hp logo appears, when logo appears hold the volume up button until the screen says to release. It should boot into moboot.

What changes did you make? Did you change the count down timer that shows in moboot?

Using Root Explorer (or equivalent), open up /boot, mount it was read-write, and delete the file that's called moboot.next. That should fix your problem.

From searching other forums and google I found the following:
You can enter update mode by removing the battery, then while holding down the VOL + button plug in your usb cord(i assume while it's connected to your computer).
Then you can search the forums here and find:

(the title is longer than this i just didn't put it all in here due to laziness)
This should help you in your quest of retrieving your phone from light up paperweight status. I don't really know though. Since I've never used your phone. Good luck.

power up your phone, when the buttons start to blink (or the cm logo appears or whatever boot logo you have) press and hold vol down then press power button (home key is not really needed like the video ) . it also works on stock rom if you have a recovery installed.
note that it won't work at the early bootup when the lg logo appears or when android is booted and ready.

It takes me in safe mode, i'm not even sure what it is (I guess is something similar to window's? It has less apps when I am in safe mode!
I'm not sure what to do, I tried to reboot in recovery mode with the ROM manager but it doesn't work (nothing of the ROM manager works actually).
Any ideas on what safe mode is?
Thanks!
UPDATE:
I tried this app to reboot in recovery mode
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&hl=en
It rebooted the phone, the android robot showed up with some stuff turning in the stomach (like this: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Android_Update_Screen.JPG) and then it turned on normally except that all my data now is gone (which is not a problem since I wanted to wipe it from the recovery mode, the problem is that I still can't get into recovery mode!
P.S.: it wouldn't let me post normal links because I'm a new member, I hope I didn't break any rule posting them like this! (after all it's not spam!)

How to enter in recovery mode for a Archos 35 Home connect?

I tried all combinations to enter in recovery mode in a Archos 35 Home Connect to install SDE firmware, without success.
I asked to archos support and they wrote me this:
"Turn the device OFF, then press the power button of the device and while the 1 st boot screen is on the screen press twice the power button to start the device in recovery mode."
But when I power on and hold the power button, it never pass to banner logo, reboot again in white screen. If I press power button twice in the white screen (instead banner logo), the boot stop and stay in white screen and hold waiting, and no continue boot, but never show the recovery screen.
So, i'm doing something wrong or recovery doesn't work. If any has success with this, it would be hepful.
has any body found how to do this? as I would like to know too.
Press the power button twice during displaying the first boot logo. It is a bit tricky.

no luck yet at entering the recovery mode though. i have tried about three or four times with quick double presses and longer slower double presses.
does a second boot logo screen show when you go into recovery mode or does it just stop at one boot logo screen?
I have not installed anything bootable yet.
It says by the power button "RESET: 10 sec". Has any one tried this?
I want to root following these instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197
but holding down the "Vol-" button does not work.
Hello divx118
Still no luck in entering the download mode, is it two quick presses on the power button or two long presses?
Exactly which screen do I do these two presses, the boot screen goes
1. white screen.
2. Black screen.
3. a screen showing the still "Archos entertainment your way" logo.
4. a screen showing the moving "Archos entertainment your way" logo.
I am running firmware version 2.4.82
Sorry, it was a long time ago I did it. It should be like this:
- Press and hold the power button until the ARCHOS banner is displayed and then release it.
- Press the power button twice (like a mouse double-click) while the banner is still displaying.
- A white Recovery screen should appear within a couple of seconds.
- To move from one option to another, press the power button. To select the highlighted item, hold down on the power button.

Don't forget the first step hold the power button until the first archos banner appears so the first screen with the "Archos entertainment your way" logo.
BTW the 10 second hold down of the power button is like a hard reset if the device hangs it will be forced to power down.

Are you guys rooting your home connect? If so, what are you doing after root?
Shouting I have rootzzz....
Sorry couldn't resist.
Access to recovery has multiple advantages:
1) If you really mess up your device or it does funny things you can reformat and reinstall original firmware in recovery.
2) You can install SDE and flash another kernel so you can also boot other OS for example openaos multiboot to boot debian, Gingerbread etc.
Is option 2 usefull for the home connect, no if you just have it sitting on a table and use it like it is supposed to be and yes if you like to play around with gadgets to learn new things.

I had some luck but only two times after hundred tries . It's very difficult to enter in recovery method. If archos not solve this in a more easy way you can broke the power button trying to enter in recovery. If someone could make a software to reboot into recovery by software, should be more hepful.

By software you need to be root and with adb shell type the command :
Code:
# reboot_into recovery
Thanks alephzain, I knew the script, but as you said only work for root, and previousloy you must enter in recovery. Finally after some hundreds of intents, I got the trick. I hope it should be usefull for some. The doble click with power button it's difficult to do in the exact time so I did this:
1. Power off
2. Power on and hold the power button for about 6 seconds
3. Do clicks in power button like a crazy men until banner appears.
4. But the most important is to stop doing clicks previously recovery window appears, because power button in recovery it's also the select option and if you don't stop, you will quit from recovery. It's very tricky, but with some tries you got it.
Now my archos home connect is rooted, and like alephzain "reboot_into recovery" works.
Any other instructions?
Hi!
I've read all the instructions in this forum and succeded in entering the recovery menu once. Then I installed the SDE firmware. Now when I start the device the first screen is a white screen and the method described in the above post doesn't work anymore.
The problem is the same as the original post describes:

Does anybody that has succeded in rooting their Archos 35 home connect remember how they entered the recovery menu after they did the SDE firmware installation?
Same Problem
I've got exaclty the same problem! After flashing the SDE I cannot get into recovery anymore. Booting the stock rom still works.
I also have adb-access in stock-rom, but I'm not root so I cannot set the 'reboot_into recovery'.
Anyone solve that problem?

I find out this method:
- Plug in usb-cable (and of course power supply)
- Press and hold down power button. for 5seconds. Release the button for just 1sec and press the power button again for 5sec. Release it again for 1sec and press an hold again (always the same procedure). At a couple of time, the screen get black. Immediatly release the power button.
- Now there should be a bootmenu, where you have 3 choices (Android, Developer, Recovery). Choose recovery, to enter recovery.
note: If you see the still archos logo, you already loose to enter bootmenu!
Feel free to improve timings/procedure to enter bootmenu!

This method does not work if the SDE is installed. You get a white screen, and there seems to be no way to get into the recovery menu. I've contacted ARCHOS support about this, but not confident that I'll get a reply.
According to this archos.com/support/support_tech/updates_dev.html?country=us&lang=en then the HOME CONNECT 35 is not even listed. I've tried both methods listed (hoping that the HC35 would be the same as the A28):
The recovery is triggered by powering on the device while pressing the 'volume down' button (or 3 consecutive short press on the power button for the A28)

I've read in different forums (English and German) that some people have been sucessful, however nobody has described how they acheived it.
The ADB command REBOOT RECOVERY also doesn't work.
Any tips from the experts would be appreciated.

Of course I read your text, that's why I quoted it. It doesn't work for me. Sure the white screen comes up, I press for 5 seconds release for 1 and repeat until the screen goes black. The white screen comes back for a while followed by the ARCHOS logo. Tried with & without USB cable, with and without MicroSD card. All results the same. No recovery menu.

That's strange. It work's for me every time! With and without USB cable works equal for me:
Power off -> Hold Power on 5-6sec (white screen appears) -> 1-2sec release -> 5-6sec press+hold -> 1-2sec release -> 5-6sec press+hold -> 1-2sec release -> press+hold again and after ~2sec screen get black. Release button immedialtly! The Archos logo appears for a fraction of a second (it just blinks) and for me a white screen with the bootmenu appears.
This method works every time for me! I have to do it to boot the developer kernel (I don't want to delete the original android fw). Did you install SDE without problems?

Exactly everything the same as yours! I installed the SDE a second time (copied the .aos file to the internal sd-storage and execute it with filemanager). Could that be the reason?

[Q] Need help..TP is in infinite boot loop [solved]

I was using the latest TWRP 2.1 and CM9 nightly. When I clicked reboot to recovery, now my TP just keeps blinking TWRP's logo page, like in a loop. Now if I press power and home buttons to restart, it will go to recovery directly and then enter the infinite loop again... Anyone knows how I can fix that
p.s. while it's in the loop, using webOS doctor doesn't seem to be able to detect the device.
webOS doctor will only recognize it when it's in dev mode (the mode with the big usb sign on it). It wont detect anything if you're bootlooping.
You want to go into webos recovery, not cwm
^^ +1
You have to reboot holding the UP button (which you should know if you installed Android). From there either doctor or ACMEUninstall and then reinstall... though I don't think doctoring will be needed if you can do ACMEUninstall.
If you are looking to doctor, make your device restart and then immediately hold the volume up button. This will display a usb symbol and put you in recovery mode. Start the webOS doctor and plug your device in when it asks you to.
Thanks for the help guys!! My TP revived! I forgot about the holding volume_up key feature because flashing android was like years ago

Help please!!!

[Q] Lineage OS / screen unlock not working / can't get to TWRP

Old LG G5 I had previously installed Lineage on. Was in a drawer until I decided to charge it up and let one of my kids play games on it. When I input the correct screen lock pattern, it goes black, then comes back to lock screen.
I am able to hold power button to then select power off, restart, etc. From power off, I power on and get the orange triangle recommending to lock the bootloader. But no combination of power and vol-down or power and vol-up will get me to TWRP. It just rolls right back in to Lineage.
Also, from power off, if I plug in to my Linux laptop, it will power on and go to fastboot.
Feels like USB debug got turned off and/or trust somehow got revoked, but I never had this laptop connected to it so probably doesn't matter. But like I said, my unlock pattern is working. I get different response with correct pattern versus incorrect.
I'm also able to see the phone from my https://google.com/android/devicemanager page. I tried to send a secure and erase thinking it might let me start from scratch, but I only see a notification that "Device Located" and it never does anything.
And finally, lsusb -v does see the phone, but adb devices never does.
My question is any idea how to get back to TWRP to wipe and push an updated image or even put an updated TWRP?
Try this ...
It's like getting into Stock Recovery. To get into TWRP Recovery using button combination (hard reset) you'll need to hold volume down button and power button simultaneously, releasing power button (temporarily) once LG logo appears then quickly pressing and holding power button again, all the while maintaining hold on volume down button. The stock recovery message (white background) will appear requiring you to select volume up/down button to continue to reset software (see attached image). If you select yes it will appear to factory reset but will actually boot into TWRP.
Hope that helps!
