GPS Dongle - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Just wondering how long it should take Asus to ship out the GPS dongle. I applied two Sunday's ago and still haven't heard anything about it. Australia isn't one of the excluded countries is it. My box had GPS on it so it must have been availible in Australia.
Thanks,

GPS outside USA, Canada

Forgive my ignorance regarding GPS devices....
I live in the Middle East and I see the current thread regarding Bluetooth GPS devices for the G tablet. Before I buy one of the mentioned devices, has anyone been using them outside the US? Or better yet, if someone can tell me if they will work outside the US/Canada, I'd appreciate it.

GPS signal can be picked up in the middle east without a problem.
The real problem is finding the maps, if you can be sure that whatever application you are going to use on the GTab for the GPS navigation will have maps for your location then you should be fine with any of these BT GPS's.
By the way, the ebay seller mentioned on the other thread wont ship internationally, your best bet is finding an Asian listing, there is tons of BT based GPS to be had there.
Best of luck,
A quick look at the Android market had some apps that said they were worldwide apps so I may be in luck. If anyone has used an app in Kuwait, please let me know.
Thanks for the info!

[Q] Questions for USA buyers

What CSCs are you generally getting from resellers? Latest European?
Anyone buy from NewEgg? (30 day exchange for issue laden device)
What are the pitfalls if any with using International Versions on ATT. I can see the advantages.
Flashing methods seem to be the same from what I am reading. Even A TiBu restore may work from a saved folder from the Captivate. Have not read of any differences there in apps or TiBu.
VPN settings work?
Been looking to get this handset but not sure about about a few processes. I am guessing MobileTech can unbrick one of these should I have an issue as they did one of my Captivates. I have not read of any US repair support expected.
USA Buyer
I have a SGII here in US, bought from onthegosolutions.com, works well on AT&T sim card. No setup issues, nothing to complain about but the problems with the native email app and activesync exchange server, that is supposed to be fixed in KE7 if I can ever get it.
The phone is the standard EU version XWKE2
I got mine from Amazon and the CSC was from Chile. Flashed the generic European ROM soon after to update the build to KE7. Everything has been working fine before and after flashing and rooting.
THanks for the replies. Being a "noob" to non branded Android Galaxy (always bought Nokia before and had to set up VPN was the only difference.
The two branded Captivates which were complete turds initially have been very nicely polished by developers. (hence my support of donations to them and this site.) I believe in supporting the helpful developers with my wallet for ROMS and paid Apps.
I don't use either Exchange or the stock Email app. I like Gmail and K9. I will root for TiBi and root Explorer. Probably run Cog at first since DG was a force on the SGS I and still is. When I get comfortable with the flashing processes I will try other ROMs
I guess most processes are similar to the S1. I did notice two rooting methods. I even read somewhere SuperOneclick may work.
OF hundreds of flashes I bricked once (recently) but $50 late MobileTech and the JTAG had me like new. Small price to pay to save a few hundred dollar phone. IM guessing Josh cna do the same with the SGS II.
Does anyone know when it will be available for AT&T?
I bought mine from New Egg and received it Thursday and I must say it is a great phone. Mine came with KE2. I just flashed Cognition on it a couple of hours ago and its even smoother and faster.
I read on Android Central the other day that Samsung was having issues with the carriers in the US on getting them to pick up this phone. I don't know why since its an awesome phone and they already have phones on all the major carriers. I'm glad I bought it outright instead of waiting for ATT to officially carry it.

The source of all those stories was a Korean writer with no facts talking out of his ass. A dev just found AT&T LTE code in the 2.3.4 leak along with PNG logos unique to their network.
Here's a link to the story that started it all. You judge if its credible.

Yeah IM over Carrier branded handsets. I was glad ATT never carried the N82/N95/N97 Nokias...... I could not care if ATT never gets the SGS 2. Probably get an SGS 3 instead to compete with ifad 5
Bought one here from the Market place with KE7....Hasn't arrived yet.

Various people mentioned (including me) that it fails most of the time to listen to what we say. It could be accent. But trying American accent doesn't give up much success either. There are at least 3 reviews I read about Titan on the net that suggested the same. There was a thread somewhere in early days (a review thread) and they said the same.
strange, apart from when i have poor coverage my Titan out performs my HD7, both handsets are on the same network so suffer the same issue.

I think my handset was a little moody. I've swapped it for a new handset today. Now it seems to be flawless!
What I've been told from Carphonewarehouse today is - the first Oct batch had max problems and people have replaced plenty of those handsets. There was a Nov batch which is current batch too - I've got a handset from that lot and it seems to be working excellent so far! Only used and tested it for 25-30 minutes.
i got mine at carphone also at the end of nov and had no problems at all.knock wood well pleased with my choice.
Got mine from phones 4 U on 23Dec all seems to be working so far on the o2 network
I wish there was Tell Me for other countries as well. Tell Me and Bing Voice Search is not supported in the Netherlands, let alone support for Dutch recognition and Dutch ecosystem search support.

[Q] Where to buy in the UK?

Hi Guys,
I've been reading all the problems that everybody have been having with the transformer prime.
Do these problems apply to the UK models also? I am planning to buy one this coming week if i can find any in stock.
Anybody know where i can purchase one?
What should i do? wait till all the problems are over..
i dont really care for gps or bluetooth just the wifi..
As I am aware the TF201 units aren't having any hardware revisions, but there is going to be a 'premium' version come June the TF700 with a 1920x1080 screen...
As for finding stock, try this website...
http://www.nowinstock.net/uk/computers/tablets/asus/transformerprime/
I use it daily as I'm still waiting to get one...
Nearly bought a Motorola Xoom, but I think I'll hold off and twiddle my thumbs to the bone while I wait
I wish i had the patience to wait for the TF700 but i dont...
im just hoping once the UK has some stock, it does not have the wifi issues..
thanks for the link. i was going to pop into my local pc world, currys and carphone warhouse tomorrow to see if they had anything in stock
Dixons have stock of the gold/champagne ones right now. Their part code is 221790. I got my grey one from them. It has none of the faults that others have listed and the GPS has suddenly started to work indoors (weak signal but it gets a lock of sorts). 20-40 foot lock outdoors.
thanks pal. I'm going to have a look tomorrow if I can find any.
I'll take that part code and see if I can get one with that code

Speculation on Samsung's Silence (USA)

A lot of folks are bummed out that Samsung has been so quiet about the launch of the Gear S in the USA. Why do you guys think it's so quiet? I thought a dedicated "speculation" thread would be a good read.
I found it interesting that Samsung Mobile comments on almost every post on their Facebook page, but when I asked about the Gear, not a word.
Does anyone else find it odd that AT&T launched a "preview" so long ago?
Has anyone see a working one at AT&T with full functionality?

I was at a Samsung demo event recently & got to wear one for a while but no at&t stores have any yet. The most likely place for an early preview is the Samsung experience thing at best buy but nothing there yet either.
They're saying it'll hopefully launch by black fri, but who knows. Even Samsung field reps haven't gotten theirs yet. My guess is that the delay is because it's going on the at&t network & therefore requires a lot of compliance testing. Otherwise field reps would have had them weeks ago
There is Samsung experience nearby. I will try to check it out within a few days.

Great question, ha. I wondered the same thing. I saw one, but it was not working.
