I think the new processor will be amazing but I can't say that I'm liking the rounded edges. This thing is borderline pebble-shaped.
It will be interesting to see where they take the design to with the Note 2, to say the least

Does this mean no 1080p/1200p for the Note 2?
Looks like the gnexus

I dont like the rounded edges either. The only thing i like about the phone is the new processor. And they finally add the light notification, which is good. Besides those two things, Im not impressed. Everything else is just software update, which the note will receive sooner or later. I will stick with the note for a while.
My curiosity is how long it'll take for the Dev's to pull the good parts out of the GSIII's ROM and port them to the Note...
I like the bigger screen, but wouldn't trade my note for it.
Dislike the round edges
Like the bigger battery
Like the gorilla glass 2
Dislike that the ram didn't change
Dislike that the screen didn't change much other then the size
Like the new smart stay
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah, Im definitely curious about how SMART it's going to be, but like many have said before - the SGS3 is mostly software, which will eventually come to the note at some point. And if S-pen functionality can be kept too, then the Note with SGS3 SW will be all we'll need tilll the note 2 comes out.
I had been eagerly anticipating a device that would be worth switching to from the note because (lets be honest) who doesn't love a new phone? But I can honestly say that this one wont do it for me. I guess if there was a way to have quad core and lte living together then I might consider it but I just love the note so much. I know it sounds crazy but I just don't see them coming out with anything (other than maybe the note 2) that would be worth switching to from my current note. This is sad because I love getting new phones so I guess it bittersweet for me.
Love the note. If you're not on seraphim it might be time take a look in the mirror and make sure you get your priorities straightened out...lol

What about the rumor that the USA version won't get a quad core processor?
4.8" is close, but I don't think I could go back to a less than 5" screen.
i may just buy the international version of the s3 and wait for the Note 2 for my next LTE upgrade.

i think the US version of the S3 won't have a exynos processor......don't think its compatible with LTE modems........they may end up using the snapdragon 4core processor instead due the LTE compatibility
I agree, this phone isn't a game changer by any stretch of the imagination. It's basically the HTC one with a removable battery and MicroSD port. It is pretty, but so is my note. The quad core isn't that impressive anymore because of this:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/tsmc-ramps-28nm-arm-cortex-a9-chip-to-3-1ghz/
imagine a phone that can process that freaking fast! We'll see where the processor wars go. The note keeps me happy, I can wait.
Also if you want a little more in depth look, here's android centrals' post on the S3. Though I like AC in general, I think they were really humping samsung's leg when they wrote it.

My question is how long will the galaxy note last like years wise since its a dual core s3 and quad cores are comming out will the dual core phones be diminished like the single core ones have been
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
There is Still no quad core that's compatible with AT&T's lte.
The North American version of the htc one x has a dual core for that very reason.
No device in this market can "last" years if you wanna be on the bleeding edge. And as the price drops for the note others who wouldn't spend 300 bones on a brand new device will be attracted to this beastly screen imo
Do you think the note will actually become like cheap I bought mine for 320 with tax and I'm wondering like the infuse started at 200 and when down to pretty much free will that eventually happen to the note

If you are asking " How long will it lead the pack? " The answer is until something better comes along that has better specs and the same or bigger screen size... considering the pace of technology it wont be long.
IF you are asking " How long will the Note last Physically? " .. the answer is YEARS .... that is IF you have an i717. There are less moving parts on the i717 than the international Note .. it has that main button that is used alot. " Anything that moves .... eventually dies " . The parts that will wear are the head phone Jack, power button, volume rocker, and the USB port.
Hope this helps

The infuse had to be pried from my cold dead hands. Its still right here in the cabinet next to me with Zeus 5.2 rockin on it. I can turn it on right now and it's still sitting at 75% charge. I haven't plugged it in or used it in 6 weeks. My journey from the infuse to the Note went something like this.
SGS2: Cool.. dual core... smaller screen.. No way I go smaller screen. PASS
HTC Inspire: HTC Phone? Sense? LOL.. PASS
HTC Vivid: See above
SGS2 Skyrocket: Neat. Interesting. Not much better than my hyper modded infuse. Note coming out soon.. PASS

If youre the type of person who needs the latest and greatest, then I would say no dont get it. However, if the note fits your needs, by all means...pick one up. I dont regret it at all. Got it on launch day instead of saving my upgrade for the sgs3. If you care about quadrant scores and all of the braggin rights, wait for the sgs3 or just get the international Note w the 1.4 exynos dual core processor.

Quad core phones are overrated currently and not ready for Prime time, used the right way at least. Its all marketing hype & a battery killer. Look at the HTC ONE X. The new S4 processor is just as fast as the Tegra 3 model if not faster in some situations. The Tegra 3 HTC one X will be outdated before any application can take advantage of the quad core in the phone.
As far as the dual core vs quad core One X situation Snapdragon S4 IS the faster SoC ... Anandtech already posted benchmark results showing proof ... Tegra outperforms it only in multi threaded tests, which are a rare in a smartphone ...

I hope it does have removable memory and removable battery but won't bug me to much if it doesn't have a removable battery if it's a good size. I think all HTC devices on VZW have those things and maybe could be a requirement for HTC devices on VZW? Plus the Dinc 4G did and that's a variant of the one series.

You clearly don't understand sarcasm. A 16x optical zoom in a .5cm thick package is clearly impossible. If it were possible, the company responsible would have already showcased it at one of the popular electronics conventions, as an innovation like that would be ground breaking and would not be kept quiet for a phone release.
Besides the ludicrous camera claim, do you think corning would release a new glass with a phone before showing it off at a convention? No. Also, would Samsung release a phone with a 1.9 ghz quad core exynos without exposing the processor first at a convention? No. Along the same lines, we would have heard something about a tegra 4 already if it was going to be put in a phone. The solar powered phone thing has also been tried before, and it was a flop, and that was on a phone much less powerful than you described. So unless there's a new super efficient solar technology as well that they're choosing to let Samsung reveal with the Note 2, that claim is also BS.
Sorry, but whoever is telling you this stuff is clearly taking advantage of how gullible you are.

except for the rounded corners, the white looks EXACTLY the same on the front.
LTE? Nice talking with you guys, as in the SGH-I717R is probably going bye-bye. Good thing the accessories are interchangeable with the other GT-N7000.
Yep , After reading about it and how soon the ATT version will be here... will be grabbing it once it hits my store.

I'll keep what Ive got for now ...
I can only afford to screw up 1 device at a time ....LOL
I have big doubts about this being a us version.. The iphonish button was never adopted by att on previous device unless I'm mistaken I don't see why this would change now

$50 bucks says the att version is a near dead-ringer for international version. I'll bet it has the home button, quad exynos, everything. Samsung has enough muscle to dictate more of its hardware to us carriers. I'll bet there is little variation in note 2 specs worldwide.
Not to mention those leaked Verizon photos of the note 2,which I believe to be legit.
US note 2 will have a home button just like the gs3.

Running this exynos processor in my note 10.1 3g variant and the battery life is phenominal. On h+ all day and I'm getting 10h screen on with around 25h unplugged before hitting 18ish %.
5.5 inch note 2 is half the screen size of the note 10.1. 3300MaH in note 2 battery is just under half the size of the 7000maH in the note 10.1. Given the scaling, I wouldn't be surprised to see comparable battery life.
The processor, though running 200mhz faster, won't make much difference because it isn't running full throttle all the time. The only question is what toll will LTE take on the battery life in LTE areas. Samsung obviously came up with some new LTE tricks to get it to work with the quad exynos in the first place - I wouldn't doubt if improved efficiency is a part of those new tricks.
Samsung made a statement awhile back that better battery life was a focus in 2012 - so far they've lived up to it and I believe the note 2 battery life will be quite good. This processor is extremely efficient, as is the other hardware.
The note 2 is gonna be a well-rounded performer from what I've seen.
I've read several places that the note 2 variants with LTE are getting a 3300MaH battery instead of 3100. We'll see when it's released. Based on the scaling mentioned above, 3300 makes more sense.

with the release of the S3 to all big carriers I would bet that the note2 will be as well.

Well guys, I've been a fan of the EVO LTE since the customs preorder debacle. There have been quite a few hiccups, 3 dot menu, multi-tasking, frapple, but they have all been ironed out to make this phone one of the best on the market.
Having said all of that, I am looking towards the future. Say early 2014; what are some upcoming phones you believe will be successor to the EVO LTE? If not another HTC then what if anything do u have your eye on?
I am just curious to see what the future may hold. Have dreams of octo-cores and 8gb ram that could rival a gaming rig nowadays, lol.
Was waiting on windows phone but the ones sprint getting are wack. Checking fot the optimus g pro or g2 and this t6/htc one max phone
I have my upgrade in March 2014. I've been an evo nut since the OG but I'm anxious to see what will be available at that time. Samsung devices are much easier to root and I imagine there are more custom ROMs available due to their popularity.

@atheistevofreak you would think so with 40 million+ sales but if you check out the sprint s3 section they have as much to choose from as we do.
I upgrade in october but im probably gonna be holding out for the One Max hopefully for a deal on black friday. The Ultra Z is what i had my eye on especially with them saying theyre going to be on top of updates now and always dropping aosp builds for their devices but a 3000mah battery with that processor and display amongst other things aint cuttin it. The nexus 5 by lg based loosely off the g2 sounds nice even tho i want a bigger screen but i doubt its coming to sprint. The note 3 sounds nice also but i hate their current design and even more than that i hate how touchwiz looks which is a shame because the multi screen and other features are great. The Honami is too small for me but its camera is off the chain. I have no interest in the g2 even tho its not a bad device, just nothing special. And i have absolutely no interest in the moto x.
I am honestly, completely torn on this. Android has really left that newly-wed stage that was very exciting. I love what android has become but the aftermarket development has grown stale. It seems every rom is the same except for the boot animations and carrier banner. Aosp roms have all become CM/AOKP/PA omelets. And except for Venom and its tweak settings, Sense Roms are all Identical. Back in the Hero days, Roms were modded for performance and devs also put some creative, cosmetic changes, fully themed, new icons, different animations, and all custom notification bar icons. It seems like everyone is out to get there name in the books like they are earning money from this. Just relabeling some one else's work and calling it their rom.
I think this just might be my last Android Device. Not sure how Windows Phone and I will get along... Hopefully it works out...

The 1020 is a great phone.
As smooth as the os is, i dont like it.
To each their own though.
My buddy loves his lumia.
While they might have the same selection of roms as us, they definitely have a bigger user base

I want my battery to last all day. Seriously considering a Note 3 or One Max. I'll wait for reviews. My contract is already up.

It must have been some kind of magic trick... I'll try to reproduce some day. (probably not)
Just read this:
"Contrary to prior reports, HTC One max is powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 (4 x 1.7GHz)."
