Hello fellas, this is my first question here so bare with me
I'm using CM7 with OnDemand governor, slightly overclocked with Apply on boot.
So my question is, installing SetCPU, do I have to disable this "Apply on boot" so " SetCPU takes over? Right?
Also, is there any addons or anything to take the best out of CM 7.2 ?
Cheers

Yes you will have to disable apply on boot to allow SETCPU to takeover.
As for addons, search for patches like beats audio, xLoud, Bravia hack etc in ur phones forum
Thank's for the reply, took me a while to find back my thread lol.
Will do, cheers

Hello Everyone,
I just flashed my G-Tablet with CM7 Harmony 7.0.2. I want to overclock this rom. I am currently at 1709 using quadrant scores. Please let me know a step by step on how to overclock this rom. Thank you in advance.- Jerome
Easy.
If I'm not mistaken, CM 7.02 has an earlier version of Pershoot's overclock kernel (though you will want to upgrade to his latest dated 4/30/11).
Hit your menu button, go to Settings, go to Cyanogenmod Settings, go to Performance, click "ok", go to CPU Settings.
Leave Governors alone
Leave Min CPU frequency at 216 Mhz
Set Max CPU Frequency to 1200 Mhz or 1400 Mhz
That's it. Play around, if everything works well, no force closes or lockups, go back in and check Set on boot.
Done.

Thank you very much...but how do you upgrade the kernel though?
Easiest way is to use the latest nightly from CM7, it has latest pershoots kernel pre-installed.
If you need to do it manually, follow his thread on the dev section, you can't miss it.

Ok great thanks...wow such quick responses...happy to be here with the helpful people...now if only the whole world works like this...we'd be living in harmony!!! - Jerome
Today a tried ogo2's beta3 ROM. In SetCPU I can't change the frequency. There are min 480-max 600 Mhz, if I change the value, nothing happens. That's wrong because it drains my battery.
Yeah, same problem here... such a pity because other than that its a great ROM!
Not really an 'issue' - the kernel isn't set up to allow overclocking, so why would it?
Not just overclocking. I can't go under 480 Mhz. That's a bigger problem for me.

I don't think the kernel allows you to change clock speeds from the MAX600 MIN480 HTC set as the default. Not an issue, but that feature will be added sometime (ogo2 said it would eventually I think)
OK, I thought that the default min clock speed is 245 Mhz.
Oh ok, didn't know it depended on the kernel, thanks.. This may be a totally noob question, but this is the Q&A section so, can I not just flash another kernel that does enable overclocking...?
Guys, cannot start neither beta3 nor beta4. When flash beta3 (through Clockworkmod 3), the system doesn't load, green 'HTC' letters tend to reboot. After beta4 installation the same screen, but static - without any reboots. I have S-ON. Wiping doesn't help.
Please, advise what to do.
Cheers!

I eventually answered my own question.. You can just flash another kernel.. Look under the Overclocking tutorial in the Dev section...
It's ok now, I am using B-ROM. In this I've got too much reboot, battery drain, GPS issues, etc. Maybe beta 5-6-7 will get a chance...

I'm using Blay0's ROM as well, haven't had any issues so far... are u doing a full wipe before you flash the ROM...?
If I installing a different ROM I always do a full wipe sure. I did not do full wipe, if I installing a newer version of a same ROM. Btw the most stable ROM is Blayo's, next Cyanogen, but there are no new sense...
Well currently I'm using MiniCm7 pro V21 rom and using stock kernel.
I go to setting>CM settings>Performance>CPU setting and ticked OverClock.
Whenever I try to overclock my phone over 600mhz,for example: I set the phone to overclock to 652mhz, return to home, and then I go to setting again, it revert back to 600mhz itself
Why is that? Is it because I'm using stock kernel?
Can't overclock in MiniCm7 v20 pro rom
I have the same problem, when i choose more than 600mhz, then it will ben chosen automaticly 600mhz, could anyone help us ?
i'm using cm7 v20
I had the same problem, I don't remember what I did but you can try maybe installing SetCPU? Or you can go bottom on Settings>...>CPU Settings and tick "Set on Boot", then turning off the decive just after that.
Just an advice, don't OC it to 748+, just leave it at 748. Why? Because, if more than that, my phone gets unstable and it reboots after a few minutes. Just happens to me, I don't know about others.

Hi, Jericho4869
I tried many custom roms. almost all version of MiniCM7pro too.
And I'm not sure about which version, but early versions of MiniCM7pro was I can over clocked.
But I can't over clock on after v15 of MiniCM7pro.
What's the differences between the both ?
So I got some idea, it's a modules, specifically differences of x8oc.ko and x10minioc.ko I think...
>x8oc.ko is a can over clock without problems but if not set over clock to make device to slow down and lag coming up.
(So when I was not use over clock, I did delete or rename x8oc.ko fot the save performances of device)
>x10minioc.ko is a difficult to over clock on some device but if not use over clock but no adverse effects to processing speed.
It's can not o.c setting to enable or over 710 mhz to get unstable or shutdown or freeze and restart, it has many cases on my U20i
Anyway, I can't over clock over 710 mhz on MiniCM7pro v21 and MiniCM'9'Pro v1.2 (based on MiniCM7pro v21) both too, because the both use x10minioc.ko for over clocking.
My opinion is: If you want to try over clocking, you should to be choose another roms with custom kernels !!
However now I'm using ZombiePanic kernel and I choosing custom roms conditional on it's supported custom kernels. Because no problems for testing o.c.
IMPORTANT NOTES: (I know, maybe you already to know)
If you want to try to over clock, please you don't try on main device !!
If in case of under 710 mhz but it is get a alot of load on cpu of your device.
keep on over clock in long time is a serious risk of failure to your device !!
its not possible to overclock in minicm7pro. u can if u flash simple kernel. it has inbuilt oc modules. so try it!
My SGA is on GB 2.3.6 (Russian ROM) and I have installed No-Frills CPU, but I am not able to use it to full potential. The Developer says I need some custom Kernels for this.
Which Kernels are these? Is it ok to use diff kernels?
what do u mean by "full potential"?
afaik for changing cpu scaling freq, cpu governor or changing disk io scheduler, u can do it even on stock kernel. maybe the selection is a little bit less, but it'll definitely works.
i dont know if cpufrills can also change cpu voltage, even so we dont have any kernel that support cpu voltage changing yet.
You might have seen No-Frills cpu, but few users are getting more governors than me using some diff kernel.
anyways, I want some other way, so that my cpu cuts down frequency really down when phone is locked, and jump up accoring to requirement. (Just like Cool'n quiet in AMD)
then u might wanna install cfroot kernel. it contain smartassv2 and interactiveX that do have automatic cpu down scaling when screen off.
but u can also set up profile to do it manually on other governors using setcpu.
What about the kernel by squadzone supposedly optimised for gingercruzt but it works for cm7 and has 6 IO schedulers, but cf-root is best for stock

My phone is already rooted and got busybox. So if I use cfroot, what would the affect on previous root and busybox? How do I backup current kernel if I need to go back.

no, it wont affect root as it also give root.
and just use clockworkmod recovery to create backup of ur whole rom. and if u just wanna restore kernel use the advance restore to restore just the kernel itself

Hey, I'm using ICS Final and I only have the InteractiveX and normal Interactive options but not the smartassV2. Where can I get it? I'm using the Smartass governor out of all of them. What is the difference between the two? (V1 & V2)
Thanx a lot for all the info mate. Can u just help me find one appropriate for my phone?

Install zImage-Mod v1.0 (you can find it in the Development Section).
I have some questions about tweaking LWW..
my kernel is rage kernel v2.7 for CM 7.2
my ROM is the latest CM 7.2
1. How do I know if the tweaks in the build.prop working? Does it have a compatibility in the kernel or ROM?
2. I tried to tweak my kernel governor and I/O scheduler but I think nothing happens, I tried using antutu benchmark and playing some games but the results is bad.
3. I added bravia engine tweak in my build.prop, how do I know if it works? Or do it even work for LWW because it has no built-in bravia engine.
sorry if I'm asking this questions, I'm new in android so sorry again.
Thanks for the answers I'll get..

1. If you have saved the modifications and restarted your phone, then these are working.
2. Governors and I/O schedulers have quite small influence on performance. Also, benchmarks do not show much useful information.
3. If you have files correctly placed and correct modifications in build.prop done, then you should see an option in Settings-Display. If not, something went wrong and do it again, correctly this time.

But if governors and I/O scheduler does not affect performance, then what do I need to do to have a better performance for my phone? And about the Bravia Engine can I even use it in CM 7.2?

The performance difference isn't big, governors change info about how fast can processor clock speed change.
Bravia Engine should in theorie work on all ROMs.

Thanks for another answer, I have another question. Does the installed ROM affect performance? If yes, what ROM is the best for my device? I don't want to have a laggy device.
By the way, can I use bravia engine even if I can't see it in the display settings but added the tweaks in the build.prop?

I don't think so. When the BE mod is done correctly, you should see it added to the Display Setting.
Can you give me a link to a working BE? Cause whenever i flash the BE via CWM it says "aborted" I think that's error? Right?
