I'm trying to activate my HTC rezound on straight talk. Is that possible? Straight talk do offer sim cards but only for GSM. The rezound can function as GSM. Has anyone had any luck with this?
I've done it for making phone calls only but there's gotta be a way because of this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=200732653713&nma=true&rt=nc&si=4c%252Fvs%252FcD%252Boz61BA6xj12f7cYHic%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_1934wt_1139 but maybe its like flashing something for metro pcs? im not sure.
+1 ive been using Droid Incredible 2 on pageplus, would like to know if its possible for the HTC Rezound to work on straight talk?
so far im using that vipor rom by team venom is a nice slick rom calling n texting works but data does not, try it out if you want its an awesome rom.
In case anyone is still looking at this thread.
This is what a straight talk rep told me:
You can go onto Straight Talk's website to purchase a SIM card to use their network. Go here:

yes you have to buy the open gsm sim not the t-mobile or the att&t one and just follow the intructions from there

Which straight talk sim card can I use for the rezound?
can anyone help with this problem can't find answer on the internet anywhere?
Rezound sim card
I am assuming that you want to use it on ATT or T-mobile GSM network? Regardless, it will take either full size or micro. Verizon is the subsiding carrier, and they typically seem to sell it with the micro sim card (and it is what I have in mine) so I'm sure it will work. It should work with either though.
your rezound has the micro sim card?
never seen one that did...
not trying to bust your chops but my sim is easily 3 times the size of my sd card... the micro sim card thats in the razr is roughly the same size as my sd
Is it a Verizon 4g sim or gsm? No offense taken. Just trying to help out as I have been helped on here.
But the resound is able to use either size. I'll post a pic shortly.
Edit: posted pics. I had the same question when I got the phone, but they said it would work with either size. Surprisingly, I haven't had any issue with the micro. No unseating or anything.
any idea if one is better than the other?
i've never heard that rezounds could use the micros...
very interesting, sorry to have been incorrect above
i've seen about 7 or 8 rezounds, and they all have the bigger card, and we all suffer a weak 4g compared to other phones around here...
i wonder if i should try the micro sim, isnt it like a v2, or the next generation of 4g sims??
i think i'll start another thread to see if theres an advantage, but i'm gonna google around looking for more info on its ability to use both, i'm still in awe lol
Well, I have only had the micro, but I can tell you that this thing picks up 4g in usually 1-3 seconds after I turn on mobile network and it doesn't drop unless I tell it to (or if I am in the basement of a large 3 story concrete building at work). It maybe the ics firmware though. I know others have had problems with it, but it has improved my rezound in every way. The only reason I would even think about going back is to be able to use a GB kernel that could undervolt, but the hit I'd take on the web browsing speed just wouldn't be livable not that I have gotten used to the ice cream...

Why is it our responsibility if you ****ed up? The Rezound will work on GSM bands, but as of right now, it does not work fully. You should be able to make and receive calls, may or may not have data, and SMS does not work.

I'm just saying people shouldn't say something will work when they don't know what they're talking about.

If you did some reading on these forums you'd know that there's a problem with GSM networks. Because a SIM fits into a slot doesn't mean it'll work...
As for flashing to Straight Talk, you shouldn't need to if you have a SIM. What the hell is Straight Talk anyway?

So do I have any options like can I flash something to get it to work? I see people advertising flashing it to straight talk and it requires a sim card that has been used on verizon which I have any help would be very much appreciated I currently have no phone.

Did you ever get this figured out. I know the t-mobile prepaid card works for me. I'm using Rezrom. I can't remember if it worked for stock or not. I'm thinking about getting a straight talk sim card just to play around with.
Around here straight talk uses Verizon towers. Anyone know how to flash this phone to straight talk? Or would it be ad simple as putting one of their sim cards in?

That's not how straight talk works. If you have Att in your area, straight talk will work. T-mobile and Att are the only networks that will work with the bring your own device plans. You have to get a specific phone to use the Verizon towers.
Straight talk does not have software for any phone other than the optimus they have on android. The tower type is based on the phone's letter. The 900g is att and the t is Verizon?
Edit: Cannot use a non-straight talk phone on straight talk. Even on gsm bands.

You can use non straight talk phones on straight talk just not for Verizon. The rezound will probably work with the att straight talk sim. You might get data but not positive. T-Mobile straight talk sim will work as well but only for voice.

Could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to activate my rezound for verzion pre-paid or any pre-paid for that matter, just want voice and text and 3g connection.... thanks in advance for the help
depends if ur rooted and if ur on the global ruu. way i did it was install a rom that allowed for gsm and a global mode. then just get the apn settings for the pre-paid network you want to run to get the data working. good luck

Easiest way to do it is to be on the global RUU and then just pop in a prepaid AT&T or T-Mobile SIM and apply the correct APN settings and you should be good to go. That's the easiest way if you want like page plus then its a little more difficult.

Only voice and text with Edge(2G) only in ATT or Tmob. The radio can't support 3G in ATT/Tmob, but not sure used in overseas.
There are tutorials out there for what your asking. One in this very spot for activating on att. They require basic knowledge of program operating and some common sense.
Here a link to a tutorial on att:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914122
Here's a link for Verizon on straight talk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975953
There's one for cricket around here somewhere too. Don't have time to link right now. Hope this helps. I have been successful at the att one. But its still a work in progress that we are trying to figure out.

I am trying to get my samsung note 2 onto the straight talk network that uses the verizon towers. My phone is a global phone so I can use the at&t or t-mobile services through straight talk but I would prefer to run off verizon towers as I would have better service. I have recently contacted Straight talk and they do still use verizon towers but they will not allow a 4g phone onto this network. Just as Verizon Prepaid plans will not allow a 4g phone I assume. They do allow 4g phones for att and tmobile however. I know you can flash a 4g phone to work with verizon's prepaid however I am not sure if I can do the same for straight talk. Will I even need to flash? Please help!
Android Version: 4.1.2
I hope this is the right section for this post. Thanks!
Just look for a good ROM 4.2.2 and below. I have had many issues with no service at all running 4.3 ROMs. All you have to do is Google the best APN settings for straight talk. I'm on net10 so I cant help with that, but yeah. I'm running avatar rom if that helps you with a rom to use :3

Yes, that does help. Now I know where to start. I will find a good ROM and try to find the APN settings. If I do find the correct APN settings will I need a verizon straight talk sim card for my phone or will I just have to go on their site or call them to activate without the sim? Any information on how I can activate my Note 2 to the verizon straight talk network would be helpful. Or would I just have to get the Verizon straight talk sim and just enter the correct apn settings and just plug in and use the phone?
I would not be opposed to using net 10 however. I am just looking for a semi affordable pre paid service that runs off verizon's towers. Considering I pay $130 a month for my service with verizon, it wouldn't take much to beat what I am paying now.
There is no verizon straight talk sim cards. This will probably only be possible with a donor phone.

Is there a tutorial somewhere on using a donor phone to get on the Verizon side? That is what I did with my fascinate and want to do the same with a note 2
To the OP, how's the new service working?

I'll probably buy a DNA this weekend or next week. The only thing stopping me are it's battery life and lack of SD slot (vs. S3 right now). I also want to flash the phone to PagePlus but there are NO guides on this. I have flashed my Rezound to PagePlus though so I have the necessary PRL files. My question is though, to manually flash the phone to P+ so call, text, mms and 3G work, would my steps really be as simple as: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45181878&postcount=2
Also, could I just follow Nevell's guide on flashing the S3 using the DNA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40464646)?
Thanks guys!
Bump.
So my first post was seriously flawed as I was basing this off of a Samsung Device (but HTC devices also vary too).
Would I be able to utilize the Rezound tutorial for PagePlus at all (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900163)? I've been looking around at everything but I haven't come up with anything yet.
I know there are users who've flashed their DNA's to PagePlus and have gotten text, calling, and 3G to work (don't know about MMS, but I can do this myself). Also would I need a blank 4G LTE VZW SIM card? Or would I be fine without it as the DNA is natively Verizon-based (so I wouldn't need a 3G donor phone)? For my Rezound I only need a SIM card (it's a GSM one) in it to get 3G / MMS to work.
Any help guys?

No. I did order the phone and it should come next week. I'll just flash the phone myself. I figure it can't be as hard as the Rezound was for me the first time (granted, my Rez had some serious hardware issues).
I'll write a guide for PagePlus when I fully flash my phone. The only issue I would have is getting 3G to work. I am confident that I can get MMS to work though without the need for GoSMS or any of that (depending on the ROM).
I'll post it next week or the week after.

hay bro iv been looking into it my self the DNA is an unlocked phone for cmda or for gsm so instead of flashing to page pluse just buy the $10 sim kit and bam there it is. ill be doing this this weekend my self so ill post again on it when i do it but there should only be miner setting changes that need to be done after the sim is in and activated HTC DNA is UNLOCKED.
I actually just flashed my DNA to PagePlus successfully today. I only bought a Verizon Micro SIM card for $5. I'll write up a guide tomorrow.

Flashing is re-programming the NV part of the phone for another CDMA provider. The SIM card is for GSM. What are you trying to do?

Save yourself the time and effort and get better service by using the Straight Talk GSM service. The Moto should already be unlocked. They have 2 different types of SIM cards, ones that use the AT&T towers and ones that use T-Mobile, so you can pick whichever works best in your area.

I purchased the $60 sim bundle and have successfully gotten voice and text to work on straight talk with my droid ultra. However no matter what I change the APN setting to I cannot get data to work. Let me know if you can think why this may be happening.

Straight Talk is notorious for having a variety of APN settings. It can be pretty annoying if you don't find the right one for your phone / update. Hop on wifi and try their app from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tracfone.straighttalk.stdatasettings or this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tweakker
