Hello. I am having trouble getting netflix subtitles shown on my TV through HDMI. I get the image and sound perfectly, but the subtitles are displayed on the blackened TP display!
Is there a way to display them on the TV screen? This was a feature I was looking forward to.
Thanks for your help..
I am having the same problem too. Anyone know how to fix it?
Apparently HDMI specifications do not include handling of subtitles or closed caption..
Is this on HC or ICS? I'm still on HC and will try it at home if I have the same issue.

This is on ICS.. Thanks!
Same problem, I have tested this in my prime with ICS and in a acer iconia a500 with Honeycomb, same problem in both... there should be a fix but I think that the app needs to be updated
The problem as I've seen it is that the hardware acceleration on the Prime doesn't handle subtitles and since netflix is using hardware acceleration, you get this problem. The solution with local videos is to switch the player over to software decoding, but such a thing doesn't exist in Netflix and I'm not sure if a workaround is even possible.
+1 for this problem. Although it happens to me on my TF101 with Tegra 2. The subtitles worked on Honeycomb perfectly, but since installing the Ice Cream Sandwich OTA yesterday I do not get to display the subtitles on the TV via HDMI out. Video plays nice, but the subtitles keep being displayed on the tablet only.
The difference I noticed is that under Honeycomb the video was mirrored, i.e. being displayed at the same time on tablet and on the TV. With Ice Cream it only displays the video on the TV...
Netflix subtitles over HDMI
I have an Asus transformer with the same problem, when it was HC netflix works fine showing the movie and subtitle at the tablet and tv at same time. After upgrade to ICS the movie is not showing on tablet and the subtitle does not appear on tv.
hello same problem fr me with dice player
is there any fix for this problem ?

Try disabling hardware overlays in the Developer Options (Android). It should fix the problem.

I tried. It worked once and then whenever I turn it off, then there's no image but just sound and subtitles when playing Netflix, on both the phone and the projector. Any solutions please?

Whilst I see that it is listed as a feature of that ROM, I'd personally like to call bull<insert profanity> on any HW acceleration of video playback claims.

well i have tried the AdyScorpiusMIUI-GB yesterday and the videos with 1080p 30fps played smoothly with normal frame rate.
p.s. i have noticed that the new Miui Special Edition v7 has HW acceleration too.
I'll give it a try today...

If these videos are HQ videos, then the problem is caused by the lack of OMX codecs for your device (armV6 on ICS lacks these codecs).

Thx for your earlier reply. So how can i upgrade that code or any solution for that?
the lag is because hq videos use divx codecs which is found on higher end phones........no way of upgrading it....google search for supported codecs for your device.it will be in spec list...then convert it the res supported by your device(also found in spec list) it will 320x240 like this....and choose your device's codecs using format factory or any other video converters...copy it to your device and enjoy

Qualcomm has not released the codecs for armV6 instruction set devices running ICS (because of incompatibility), so there is no way to update them.
small question please .... Does the CM9 camcorder problem means that there is no video recording at all or no recording HD 720p ???

No video recording at all. Developers havent yet figured out how to make it work on CM9 or CM10. Honestly I doubt that it will ever work. Keep your fingers crossed though. :fingers-crossed:
thanks man for quick reply ..... i think GB roms very stable and fast than ICS & JB, also everything on it working properly with no issues ...
Apparently, prime video shows license failure when trying to stream in HD with HW Acceleration turned on. Can someone please confirm?

thanks for letting me know. So it seems an issue on their side. I was getting worried.
Is it resolved yet. I don't even see an option to enable hardware acceleration.
