[Q] Country Specific Stock ROM - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm new to rooting the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I've done a ton of reading on this forum & was able to successfully root my GT-P7510 using bugs9477's stickied guide.
At the time I had a problem completing the root due to the scrolling screen with the CWM-based Recovery tool. As advised I unrooted my device using the P7510XABKMP_P7510UEKMP_HOME.tar.md5 stock ROM as per the guide.
I purchased an Australian Galaxy Tab 10.1. Now my device is using a United States stock ROM. It seems from my reading people aren't concerned about using other country stock or modified ROM's. I'm not worried about voiding the warranty using another stock ROM. But is there any concerns software specific pro’s or con’s I should be aware of when using another country specific stock ROM?
I searched for a stock ROM on sammobile.com. I could not find an Australian specific ROM. I did find an Open Asia ROM - P7510DXKG4. Did I not find an Australian ROM because it just doesn't exist & all Australian devices just use the Open Asia ROM?
At the moment I’m only interested in having a rooted device using a stock ROM. I’m asking all these questions because I’m thinking I might unroot back to a country specific stock ROM & then go through the rooting procedure. But if there isn't any real good reason to do so I won't bother hence the reason for my question.
I'm sorry if this question has been asked many times. I just couldn't find anything specific to my particular question.
Thanks in advance. This forum is fantastic & has helped me so much.
Cheers

Can someone please respond to my thread. Cheers.

No worries - thanks. I'm already happly rooted & used my first custom ROM yesterday being scrosler's CleanROM 1.4. Very happy with my experience so far.
I was only just wanting some answers regarding a stock ROM for my region. I'm not going to get to hung-up on the whole thing. I just wanted to know if for any reason I wanted to unroot & go back to stock for my region.

[Q] Custom ROM vs stock ROM

Hi people,
I've been reading up on flashing custom ROMs and might be interested to start using those on my rooted X10.
Question is though, can I easily go back to stock ROM in case I need to claim warranty?
I'm guessing by updating through PC Companion or SEUS, but I want to be sure first.
I couldn't find the answer in the forums, although I read quite intensively through the first pages of the dev & hacking forum.
Don't flame me, I've got my Android several months now but still consider myself a newbie, coming from WinMo...
Its easy to flash back to the original firmware with the flash tool. So if you wanna install a custom rom go right ahead.
Do I need to have the stock ROM at my disposal? Cause I can't find it for my carrier...
Yup. It's very easy to get back to stock firmware if you got an unlocked model.
However, if you are on a branded X10, you gotta find your exact branded version.
You can probably used the search button to find it though.

[Q] Quick question with flashing ROMs

So last night I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 and I’ve got a few questions regarding various things that I havn’t been able to find through searching around on the forums. If the answers are around the forums and I have missed them I apologize and hopefully you can direct me there.
1. Since I used chainfires rooting method. I’ve used Nitrality’s app to ‘backup’ my /efs and something else it backup up. Here I’m wondering if I use a custom rom such as “Lite'ning Rom v6.1 XXKH3” will the things I backed up with Nitrality app restore my original ROM and Kernel incase something hardware wise fails and I need to send it back in to claim on my warranty.
2. The second question im asking is regarding various Custom roms, if I choose to flash ;Lite’ning rom, will I be able to since it states it’s;
based on I9100XXKH3 firmware
baseband I9100XXKH3
The baseband I’m using is XWKE7, will I be able to use this rom?
3. since the version of android I have is 2.3.3 and majority of the Roms need 2.3.4 will it work correctly? If not and I have to legitly update to 2.3.4 will it successfully update since i've rooted my phone?
Hopefully you guys can help answer my questions. Thanks.
bump because I really need help :[
- Litening ROM is based on KH3 ROM, that doesn't mean you need to have a Stock KH3 ROM. So yes, you can install it.
- As I said it doesn't matter what ROM you currently have to flash a 2.3.4 ROM.
- Don't know about the Back up issue, sorry.

thankyou so much for your help
before I flash it will I need to upgrade my 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 though?

SGS2 - Root / Kernel / ROM?

Hi All.
I last rooted a HTC Desire well over a year (or 2) ago and I am now looking into rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2 - I9100, from Optus in Australia.
Although well versed, I am finding myself in noob land trying to read and firgure out what is the correct way to alter my phone.
Firstly I apologise for posting something that I am sure is answered out here. So please just point me to the right place and close this thread if so.
I can see that the standard boot loader (hope I refer to that correctly) appears to allow you to install another OS (ROM).
This appears to be called ODIN.
Am I able to load new ROMs by using the default ODIN on the phone, or do I need to load something like ClockworkMod?
I am intending to download and install the generic stock ROM (non-carrier) version before looking into other variants.
I am assuming to load other ROMs, like say Cyanogen 9, I would have to go through the root process.
Aside from rooting, I am reading posts that refer to updating the kernel. What is the kernel and why do I need to change it?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

[Q] i9300 Stock ROM (Australia)

Hey guys, got my S3 here, and need to flash it back to the stock rom due to selling it.
The buyer knows its rooted, its currently running CM10
All that i need to do is flash it back to stock, no un-rooting, triange away or any of that stuff.
Where can i find the stock rom for Australia? already checked the stickys and threads with all the stock roms, but they have almost every other country.
Is flashing the stock rom the same way as doing a custom (after the rooting?)
Done heaps of custom roms on >5 phones, but this is the first time going back
TLDR, i9300 Australian phone, VODAFONE. Need to flash back to stock rom, but dont need to unroot, currently on CM10
Thanks
EDIT: Someone else posted an almost identical thread to me, 6 min before this one. Ill copypaste this to that thread, thanks

[Q] The newest info on rooting/flashing i9300

Hello guys! I have an international variant of the S3, the i9300 since Jan 2013. Never flashed nor rooted the device, but the will to do that has been growing on me for a few months.
I've flashed only stock firmwares (the case where the newest firm wasn't available to my CSC) via ODIN, never rooted, never flashed anything else.
My question is: where should I look for the newest info on rooting/flashing the S3?
I remember there was a stock firmware released that changed the EFS folder, but I suppose that every customROM out there now takes that into consideration, right?
For the last year, I've been reading kernel this, TWRP that but never looked into the in depth definitions before but been reading into the matter since yesterday.
Also, flashing a customROM will make me lose videocall or the camera best definitions due to drivers or is it just a hoax/thing of the past?
Thanks in advance guys :good:
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, nothing has changed on rooting.
Custom rom is a personal choice, try them for yourself, those based on stock use the hardware better.
