[Q] How to get Voice command back - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a noobish question
I have just updated to resurrection remix 1.8 rom (been using it since 0.96 its awesome)
And with the newly introduced rom control in 1.7 I cannot figure out how to set a double tap of the home button or similar to go into Voice command like I originally had it, I use this often and its annoying. I do have it installed still, and can access it through the widget, just need to remap the short cut.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Home Key Double Press / Tap

Hi,
I've got Galaxy S2 on Android 2.3.4 (Basband I9100XXKH3 Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKH3-CL479037 Build GINGERBREAD.XXKH3)
There's a problem and another niggle I have.
The problem is that when I double-tap the home key, I get the Voice Talk asking me "what would I like to do?"
I want to disable this.
It seems that sometimes this happens by accident - either because I accidentally double-tap or because the hardware/software mis-interprets a single press as two. Read about this somewhere else on the web too.
All I really want to do is for double-tap to just return me to the home screen.
The slight delay that occurs when pressing the home key I'm told is because of the double-tap feature.
I've tried a few methods I found on line but none were actually solutions.
I found an alternative launcher but it turned out that the fix was an irreversible solution, which I don't want.
Surely this should not be that hard!??
How can I disabled the voice talk or double-press on the home key?
Can anyone help or advise?
Thanks in advance,
D
You need root to remove system apps.
You can use apps such as Titanium Backup Pro to remove or freeze the app, or use a file explorer such as Root Explorer to remove. Another easy way is to flash a custom ROM with that particular "bloatware" removed. These methods all require root access.

Not sure where I saw this option once but it removed double click. Tested it and it worked then reactivated it.
Maybe Google 'galaxy s2 remove double click'.

Check either this thread on how to do the edit yourself:

Or use JKay's Theme + Settings app

I disable double tap home key now I can't restore it. I reinstalled firmware but it doesn't work. How can I enable it again? Voice commands works but double tap doesn't start app.
Just tried this and it worked. Yay!!!!!! No more goddamn vilingo this was driving me crazy!!
No root, no custom rom, easy.

Launch the lockscreen activity?

Is there a way to run a script or command to run the lockscreen? I find the lockscreen quick and easy for launching apps, sometimes it's nicer than using the proper launcher app. If my phone is unlocked I would like to be able to press a shortcut or run a script to directly launch the lockscreen.
I know I could simply hit the power button twice to lock then wake the phone. I also know I could use tasker to lock then wake the phone. Both of these solutions are slow and not very elegant.
There must be an intent or activity or shell command which can call and run the lockscreen. I know this is an odd question and it isn't essential to find an answer but I'm curious. Any ideas?
If it makes any difference I'm running deodexed ICS 4.03 XWLPG with JKAY mod. (GT-I9100)

[Q] How to access core Android functions like app switching

Is there any way to access core Android functions like app switching (holding down the Home button for a few seconds), to be used in other contexts? Similar to how you can access Activities from the apps installed and use them as Shortcuts.
What I'd like to do is this:
press Home -> bring up app switching interface
long-press Home -> go to Home screen
Basically I want to reverse the two functions that short and long pressing the Home button does.
If not that, I'm also interested in being able to access the "app switching interface" via a Shortcut (like a Shortcut you place on your Home screen), or via an app.
For example, you can long-press on the Home screen and add a Shortcut (different than adding a shortcut to an App) which basically includes various context functions of some of the apps you have installed. I want to be able to do this - add a Shortcut - in which the Shortcut I add launches the "app switching interface" that you normally get by long-pressing the Home button. That way I can put that Shortcut in Wavelauncher or wherever else I want to be able to app switch without the annoyance of having to long-press something.
Maybe this kind of thing requires root and hacking, but that's why I'm here! I'd be grateful for any advice and help; thank you!
As far as I know you'll need a custom rom like cyanogenmod or aokp to do things like that.Being able to do that in a stock rom would compose of alot of work within the framework-res.apk, systemUI.APK, and button maps. To flash a custom rom require root and clockworkmod. I want to help you but first what type of device do you have?

I'll be getting my new LG Optimus G Pro in a few days. I was hoping, if I can't reverse the functionality on the Home button, that I could maybe assign the "app switching interface" to the programmable button on the side. Thanks for helping out by the way.
Is your device rooted? Also thank me with the button

I don't have it yet, but I would be willing to root it. I'm using my good ol' GS2 Skyrocket for the next few days until it arrives.
Well I have my Optimus G Pro and I've been using it for a few days. I saw an app by the makers of Tasker that allows you to build your own app. Could I possibly use that to accomplish what I want (build an app whose function is to show the "app switching interface" )? Or would I really need to root it (and if so, what then?)?

AOKP Nougat: lost process manager's knob

Hi there,
I'm using AOKP Nougat with my Samsung GS III LTE (i9305). I discovered this ROM looking for an alternative ROM available for my device. And I'm pretty satisfied of it, it's efficient, simple, light and in the same time very open to personal setup.
But I've lost a function that was very helpful: In my scrolling menu, I had a little processor (or RAM?) knob just beside the settings icon. Clicking on it allowed me to manage all the running and back task running apps.
But since a few time, this knob disappeared from the scrolling menu and I look after it different places like ROM control and many other settings menu but I didn't found it...
So if someone see what I'm talking about and knows how to get it back, I would be so glad!
Thanks.
