[Q] Upgrade from mini cm7 to mini cm9 - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Is ist possible to upgrade directly or must i downgrade first to the last stock kernel and firmware?
At the moment it works with mimi cm7 and the latest nAa kernel.

Its better to flash back to stock first and then upgrade to other rom...

Since for MiniCM9 you will need both a new kernel and a new rom, and you need to do a factory reset... basically all parts of your phone will be wiped clean, so I guess just upgrading from your current setup is no different than from stock.
At least, I had no problems with it, but then, all people and all devices are different

excellent 9

You can flash the new kernel directly. I did it that way and upgraded successfully.

I did a factory reset ,flashed the new kernel, than the ROM and google apps and it worked perfectly.

I update from mini cm7 to mini cm 9.I followed NAa´s instructions to install cm 9.And it works good.

No need to wipe
Well i didnt wipe and i upgraded... Totally OK. It just takes 15 mins to update and optimize apps.
Just (1) Flash new kernel via Flashtool(2) Enter CWM and flash MiniCM9 AND GApps, (3) IMPORTANT goto advanced>clear dalvik cache !!! (4) Reboot and let it optimize apps (5) It should work perfectly and preserve most of your old settings & apps.
In any case, if there are problems, just factory wipe
Remember to download minicm9 onto your phone before installing the kernel.
Enjoy MiniCM9 and ICS

[Q] Some q, about switching roms

Hi,
I'm started to read about roms and Glossary's
Currently now I'm running Trigger 3.2 that based on FROYO.
I.
As far as I understand (and correct me if I wrong) if I want to switch to another ROM (for ex. Project V) (NOT CM7 based rom) all I need to do is:
1. Copy the rom I want to phone (internal \ sd)
2. Ti backup
3. Full backup from CWR
4. wipe data\factory reset
5. wipe cache partition
6. wipe delvik cache
7. Install Zip from SDCard
Is this method cover ALL 2.2 \ 2.2.1 based roms?
II.
Is buying JIG from Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...0497761183?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item20b651b39f) is recommended (Just to be on the "safe" side)
III.
If I want to try 2.3.X based rom...:
A. If I already moved to any of 2.3.X based rom the steps are exactly like in (I.)
B. If I came from 2.3 based:
1. flash with odin to stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087)
2. install GB Bootloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990)
3. boot into CWR and continue like in (I.)
IV.
About CWR - I know that this is a part of Rom Manager, and it have versions too , BUT after\before I flash new rom (2.2-2.3.X) is it recommended to install\upgrade to the lasted version and make "Flash Clockmod Recovery" (all roms came with any version of CWR)
Is those 4 Q\A are correct? (special I\II\IV)
Thanks.
Can someone help and direct me?
Thanks,.
for the 2.2 roms yes u are right, thats a very good step list!
As fo gingerbread i use cm7 so my instructions are different but ill tell u how i install cm7.
Odin to stock
Then root with eclair method of installing update package, recovery will turn from blue to green.
GEt rom manager premium as its the easiest way to do cm7.
Then go into Rom manager premium flash clockwork recovery and choose vibrantMtd and choose 3X NOT 2x. Then go to download roms and choose cm7 nightlies.
For ur very first cm7 nightlie always choose all three wipe data, wipe dalvik and backup rom!
when u update ur cm7 nightlie again u only have to wipe dalvik and backup rom.
Hope that helps
what about flashing from say miui to a jvp based rom? i know they are both gingerbread roms but miui has a cm7 base so im not sure of any extra steps i need to take in order to flash

[Q] Upgrading Task650 rom from v5 to v6

Please forgive the noobish question..this is my 1st android product and I am still learning...
I am currently using Task650's rom version 5 along with the current pershoot kernal....If I want to move to Version 6
1. do i only wipe the delvrik cache, then flash version 6?
2. do I need to reflash the kernal after flashing version 6
3. what is the easiest way to backup all my apps if i have to wipe everything and then put them back?
i am using a rooted 10.6 wifi only...just really trying to get the hang of if there is an order to flashing roms and kernals like if i install a new rom or even update if i have to reflash kernal and reset setcpu?..thanks in advance.
download titanium back up ( free one from market), back up the apps you want
get into CWM, wipe/factory reset, clear cache. clear dalvik, flash, and done.
if you are on pershoot kernel, then you have to reflash the pershoot kernel after you flash V6 because V6 flashes a new kernel.
I usually flash rom first before i flash kernel, since ROM overwrite kernels.
you can just wipe dalvich and cache and you'll be good bro
Awesome, ty Task

[Q] flashing CM10 on stock 4.1.1 JB

I recently rooted my s3 i9300 and was planning to flash CM10 to it.
In the install instruction it states the following: "Make sure you run stock ICS rom. We won't care if you didn't and your Wi-Fi isn't working."
I am currently running 4.1.1 JB, so my question if I should go back to ics and how. Or can i just flash CM10 over my stock 4.1.1?

No, don't worry about that. You don't need to go back to ICS.. Just download the latest version of CM10 from here. And flash it via CWM.
But first
Take a backup of your current rom using cwm (Just in case you don't like CM 10 and wanna go back to how your phone was)

Thank you very much!
Do you recommend I do a factory reset via cwm as well?

Yes, that is always advisable when installing roms.
PS: Download Google Apps for CM 10
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
Install CM10 Zip
Install Google Apps via CWM right after flashing CM10
In that order

[Q] [SXU] FreeXperia 9.1 - few questions from a noob

Hi!
I'm using stock ICS 6.1.1.B.1.10. It looks great, but it is horribly slow! I have to use task killer all the time and reboot every few days to keep my phone usable. I was thinking about downgrading to GB, but first I want to try CyanogenMod from the Project FreeXperia. Before installing i want to ask you some questions.
1. How stable is it?
2. What's still not working?
3. Will installing FreeXperia wipe all my data (photos, music etc.)?
4. What about downgrading from FreeXperia to stock GB? Is it just flashing .ftf file with flashtool or is it more complicated?

4) no just flashing will do
It will wipe data from device memory not from sd

[Q] procedure for reinstalling. a custom Rom

A week back I had installed a custom rom, Revolution ICS hd, based in the official ICS....
I flashed a stock extended kernel, for the rom to work.
Nw a few days back, I restored to my stock rom, using backup and restore in the CWM recovery and then restored my originally backed up rom.
Nw I want to install the same rom(Revolution ICS), so my questions are as follows
1- Should I backup my stock rom again ?
2- Should I follow the same procedure mentioned by the developer to install the rom?
3- will I have to flash the stock extended kernel again ?
4- any thing to keep in mind, while reinstalling a custom rom over a stock rom ?
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:-
Phone- Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman
Bootloader Unlocked-Yes
Kernel- Stock Extended
Rooted-of course.
Help me and I will thank You
of course you will need to wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik cache), install rom, then install gapps that suitable to your rom. if you flash without wipe, you (may) face bugs that shoudn't you face in that rom. cheers, and good luck mate.
