[Q] Warranty for xperia neo v Bricked - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello i had reccently bricked my xperia neo v.
I had rooted the device and installed
Chainfire 3D
edited build.prop with one only item.
SD Boost
the phone will just boot loop it will show the "Sony" restart "Sony" and again and again.. always the same.
I would like to know if they can tell when my mobile is rooted or not.
I have locked bootloader ( i had never unlocked it.)
Also any good excuses?
Will i have to pay money because in other thread they say they paid around 20$
I am in Europe the phone was bought in Europe.
Also i would like to know if it is possible to fix it on my own risk-free ( i have been told that flashing can solve this but i have been also said that it is too dangerus... also if i try flashing will they be able to tell if i flashed it and lose warranty?)
Thanx in advance

remove sd card and try to turn it on.
if that doesn't work, repair software with PC Companion.

i have already tried.
But seus or PCC tell me that my phone is up to date and it gives no option to repair i tried in 2 PCs
(Seus doesnt shows my device's icon like before only the text message)

once you do a clean(full) flash, root will be gone
they will do the same, first they flash then they check.
but it's software problem I believe, so no need to take it to service center.

(SEUS only says : There is no available Software for your phone
At your mobile phone there is already installed the most recent software available
and there is only exit available.)
I tried uninstalling it and install it more than 3 times...

I dont think that the battery is the problem because it was working yesterday...
Also as i previusly said PCC and SEUS dont work.
They both say that the mobile is updated and they wont let me update.
I found a flash tool and i found SE ICS for nordic but i would like to find one for my country.

Use search function mate, just type flashtool. There are a guide too for how to use it.
You can search nordic ftf file too if you dont have it.
It wont brick your phone if you follow all the guide carefully.
I use it all the time since on X10, since i am a noob on android and never brick my phone.
Do it, you will never worry about software thing or bricked thing if you know flashtool.
And our phone hard to brick unless you flash kernel from other phone or you drop it from 12th floor
Sent from my Xperia Neo using XDA

so when you connect phone, and in upper part of screen it says "Your phone is up to date" Like in ss1(attachments), and when you press on that blue text, you get another screen which tells you same thing, your phone is up to date.
You will see a note under that, and at the end of that note you will see "repair phone". Check ss2(attachments).
Or even try this, click on Start on the support zone(see on ss1), then you will get another screen(ss3) click on Start under Phone Software Update, after that you should get same screen which offer you repair phone(ss2).
Are you sure that it doesn't say something else, like that your phone contains modified software and that you can't update it?

I've had same problem like you,and i've stayed 3 days with phone dead until i've find out how to reflash it. Use Flashtool to flash again the ftf file. Here's a little tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384535 Good luck.

beta4 requires baseband 2.1.54 - if you don't have that, that's probably why you had issues...
Soft bricked my phone trying to flash 2.1.54 and update service did not work but pc companion fixed it so maybe try that.

Does SEUS show a repair option? Use if yes, if not try PC Companion.
Almost impossible to 'brick" a X10, until bootloader is cracked.

X10 Seems to be dead. Urgent, Please Help

- Was using Free X10 Beta 4, Changed Brightness Settings, Phone crashes
- It will not turn on, but it does vibrate when holding the power on button
- The Phone is recognised by USB and comes up with the Green Light although
does not update in SEUS - "Product Cannot Be Identified" (I've deleted/replaced blob_fs, still same problem)
- Attempted to update firmware with PC Companion, Does not work, "Download Error"
- I've also attempted to installed a generic firmware through Flashtool, whilst it takes a very long time to flash it finishes although phone remains not working after.
What is wrong? I've simply changed brightness settings and it's crashed. Please help me get my phone working, I need it urgently.
This has happened once before although I've been able to reflash the firmware via SEUS although this time it isn't identifying my phone.
How was your battery level?
Ive never heard about this situation in particular but i believe if you search there are threads on unbricking an x10. Take a look around the forums and search unbrick x10 and see what you get.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Battery level was near 100%.
The Search seems to be down, could anyone link me to an unbricking tutorial on here?
Thanks.
Bump..
Unbricking method doesn't work (just flashing via Flashtool with generic firmware). On top of that it takes ages to flash via this method for some reason.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is?? The phone should be working fine, all I did was change the brightness setting and then it crashed.

I can't right now because I closed the Flash Tool although when it gets to flashing System it disconnects and the LED turns red, it then proceeds to saying everything has finished, disconnect phone and turn on.
Is your usb cable okay? maybe the problem is your usb cable. As of right now its IMPOSSIBLE to brick the X10 due to the bootloader not being cracked. The only problem can be your programs, cable, or maybe you dropped your X10 one to many times.
If you do get it sorted, you cant set brightness to auto, will cause a crash. This was highlighted in z's original freex10 thread.

It's not my programs, cables or computer as I've just flashed my friends X10 and it worked perfectly. I've never dropped my phone, It's done this after changing brightness setting on FreeX10 Beta 4.
It's also not the battery as I've tried using a friends battery and still the same problem.

Same old problem. Failed to detect product. I've been trying to fix this phone for nearly a week now. Still nothing.
Xrecovery
reaching, but you wouldn't happen to have xrecovery installed? i say try repair phone once more with SE site if SEUS doesn't work. how far does it boot? anything?

Tried EVERYTHING to fix X10.. You can brick your phone. [A Last Attempt, Help]

Basically I've mad several threads before this, and have been trying for months to get my X10 working again, I'm going to put it into dot points.
What Happened?
- Using X10 as usual (FreeX10 rom, rooted)
- X10 randomly froze, took out battery to reboot, Powered On, Vibrated but did nothing further
- X10 does not work
What I've tried: Everything
- SEUS: does not 'recognise the device'
- PC Companion Repair: gives me a network error after putting phone into flash mode, does not go any further
- Tried nearly every version of Flashtool up untill the newest release
- Flashtool simply takes an unusual amount of time to flash then phone dies (flashing red light)
- The newest Flashtool won't start flashing due to having to put the phone into 'USB debugging' mode, which I cannot access
- Tried on various computers, different cable, bought a new battery, different internet connection - same problems every time
What can I do?
- Basically is there anything else I can do?
- I've tried everything, I thought the X10 was suposedly unbrickable.
* NOTE:
Also could the reason the latest flashtool is giving the abort error possibily due to a baseband incompatibility?
I remember changing basebands at one stage (do not remember which) so could this be the issue? If so how can I fix this/find out what baseband I'm on and the appropriate rom?
Having said that I've tried flashing a variety of different basebanded roms and all give the same error.
[EDIT]
Fellow member Mootmetal seems to be having the exact same problem. See his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158807
Please help!
Example of Flashtool and my problem:
Note look at the time: It takes way to long to flash not even one file and then the battery will simply die.

The only time you need debugging is after the flashing is complete so that you can get rooted. Prior to that it doesn't matter.
As for flashtool taking long i can think of two things. One, your cable has an issue or its not making proper contact. Two, make sure you have wipe data enabled. Make sure your phone is charged as well, 50% should be fine. I dont think this is an issue but remove your sim card and sd card and try again. Hopefully you have some luck.
That being said I dont think your phone is bricked.
Edit; Was your phone very hot when it froze the first time? If so something could have been damaged from that time, which is causing the prob now.

Using the latest Flashtool I get this error:
-Wipedata is enabled
- I've tried with a bunch of different ROMS (1.6,2.1 etc)
- My cable is fine, I've used various cables
- No my phone was not hot when it first froze
Ive had that error before. The message that comes after about debugging is standard regardless of the out come of flashing. They should fix that.
Since you say the cable is fine, is the phone entering flash mode correctly. Since the first image shows that you got it in flash mode yet the second gives the impression it didnt.
Take a look at the flashtool thread and look at the errors others are having with the latest one, 0.2.9.1. Chances are you can find something related.
Gd luck

The first image is an older flashtool, it seems to go straight into flashing but takes way too long. Battery then dies.
I've searched my problem a multitude of times.

Also when plugging the phone into the wall charger, it displays the green LED although turns off around 20 seconds later. Why?
Have u followed this thread?

^I've tried this, does not work.
Step 1: Phone does not turn on after
Step 2: Phone doesn't turn on, so obviously USB Debugging won't work

I think it's a issue from battery. I know you bought a new one, but I had a similar issue. My phone didn't enter in flash mode, because of battery issue and I tried many cables, bla, bla, bla. So I bought a "universal charger", put my battery about 10 minutes and put again in my phone. After that, my phone worked again and I got charge from usb and even my "wall charge" work fine. I flashed my phone with stock firmware and then I tried many custom roms.
Good luck
Edit: "universal charger"

from china much ? i got my one of them from China.
OT: well, take out your batt, and reboot your comp. start flashtool. plug im your usb cable into your phone with the batt out. move the ftf file to another location - anywhere, your desktop. okay, flashtool select firmware and the location, should be desktop. choose your firmware from there. then, when it says plug in xperia, hold back on your phone and while still holding back, put in your batt.
best of luck.

Followed the steps, although Flashtool only selects firmwares from the firmware folder
(Flash>Pick Firmware - must be in the firmwares folder) so I cannot select it from the desktop.
Regardless this again leads to a very lengthy flash in which the battery will most likely die. It's taking forever.
-------------------------
I think it's safe to say that my phone is officially bricked. I've been trying for months on and off trying to bring it to life although nothing has worked. What do you guys think? Let it rest?
I think its an issue of your pc not recognizing your phone hence you cannot flash it.
Device not found.
Try this driver
and install with global generic and follow the x10flash.bat procedure.1
me I unbrick my x10 with this method
Really i don't have solution for you but i had allmost same problem. My x10 was briked 2 months and it rebooted allmost every minute. I tried everything above. Nothing worked. And my warranty papers are gone. But i managed to get it to the warranty, without papers and they flashed it somehow. And i really tried everything.
Oh, and i had water damage too. There is little white water dedector and it had red tots. I'm suprised that SE gaved me new phone.

Select firmware location at the top of where the files are, and choose desktop from the side. btw, use flashtool 2.9.1 beta... or whatever the lastest is. it has a thingy at the top where it says firmware location. choose desktop and okay. then your fw should be listed and tada lemme know if i helped!

Need tool to access my phone via PC
I have accidentally installed a theme that is probably of higher resolution than my phone screen. Now in locked mode the unlocking option/pattern/graphics is not visible as it is 'spilling out of screen'. Android debugging is on in my device (thankfully). Please suggest me a tool/method using which i can control the phone using PC(or atleast unlock the phone). I (obviously) cannot install anything on my phone, i found some such apps that need installation on phone.

during the repair there was following error:
new software found something like that..the process lasted for about 6 hrs
what to do?
Device Name XPERIA E dual 1605
firmware version 11.3.A.1.39
ROM: Stock ROM JB
Original Problem
device is on Rooted stock rom.
was trying to unlock bootloader..the process was successful and then I removed the usb and tried to switch on it only to realize that its in Bootloop
As stock ROM does not has recovery I dont know what to do now..Any idea?
Download "Sony Update Service" and restore your Sony Xperia E dual to original firmware again.
This will remove root access ( which you can apply again later).
For more detailed information you could ask for support in the Sony Xperia E forum as they'll have more information to provide than us in the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i forum

By all means, I'm dumb, so to get this clear, this means that, if he repairs his phone, the original firmware that came with the phone will be installed or it will just reinstall the newest update available?
Sorry... let's say I'm a bit frustrated with something dumb I did and I want to see if I can revert back XD...
THanks in advance guys
I'm quite sure that it installs the latest official Sony Ericsson firmware.
I've done it before, after softbricking my phone and it works perfectly. But after restoring you do need to unlock the bootloader again and root the phone before you can continue with installing a custom ROM.
With the flashtool provided, it is a piece of cake.

2. Click on the desired firmware & write down the PDA, CSC, Phone and Product Code...
3. Download SamFirm from SamFirm...
4. Open Samfirm Enter device model, select manual & input the PDA, CSC, Phone and Product Code...
5. Click Download...
6. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
7. Enter Download Mode on your device...
8. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...
***Updato Method - UPDATE - It's the Best Way - Recommended - Sammobile Alternative
1. Go to Updato Samsung Firmwares... and search for your device ex:SM-N930 ...
2. Select & Download the software image...
3. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
4. Enter Download Mode on your device...
5. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...

2. Download the software image...
3. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
4. Enter Download Mode on your device...
5. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...
***SmartSwitch Method - No Longer Works
1. Go to Samsung Smart-Switch Here...
2. Download smart switch, open it and hit emergency recovery, then device initialization, enter "SM-XXXX" or whatever is after S_-____ and hit search...
In my case I put SM-N930FD, that's my Phone - Enter all CAPS ON...
3. Enter S/N on the back of the phone... Smart switch will try to fetch the ROM if available...
4. It will tell you that everything will be deleted and sign-out from google accounts... but you can't do anything so just proceed...
5. Then it will ask you to enter to the Download Mode or Odin Mode ( Vol Down + Home + Power ), continue ( Vol Up ) and connect your phone via USB to the PC...
6. Smart switch will start downloading the Image to Wipe the phone and reinstall the ROM again...
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot of this as I already have done all these steps... but it's nothing but a small window showing progress of download and install...
7. Leave the phone, Don't play with your PC... You can Pray or go do something good so that when you're back, the phone would be fresh as if you just bought it...
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot of this as I already have done all these steps... but it's nothing but a small window showing Device initialization complete, Hit OK and you're done...
It will take time but Hopefully, it fixes your phone as it did to mine...
Updates:
Update 16th Feb 2018:
SmartSwitch Method no longer works, Samsung has removed it...
Update 25th July 2017:
This is not related to Galaxy Note 7 anymore, it's a solution to any Samsung Phone...
Update 2nd October 2016:
User azzicles reported that in Odin you need to check update bootloader to succeed...
Great work putting this up together, But Should've posted in the guides section as this more of a guide rather than a Development thread.

Thank you,
I am still new to XDA and I wished to help those who bricked their phone...
When I bricked my phone, I was so sad that I'd have to wait for loooong time till I am able to fix it....
So I have done a bit of research if it's possible to do it through Samsung SmartSwitch,
after all when you boot your bricked phone it tells you use smartswitch or contact service center...
when I fixed my phone, I felt relieved and Wished to share my discovery to make those who bricked their phone relieved as well...
So I put the thread here...
If the admins see that the thread should be put in the Guides Section, then hopefully they'd tell me how to move it there...
Thank you for taking to time to post the solution.
Will this work with T-Mobile version? When I enter my S/N in SmartSwitch, it keeps erroring out when I click "search" and then SmartSwitch immediately closes... Any help, much appreciated!

SmartSwitch Works with All Samsung Note 7 Phones and it's the safest tool to unbrick your phone...
The thing I noticed about SmartSwitch is it's case sensitive and the S/N at the back of your phone is tricky to the eye as it's small and light reflected easily could make you input it wrongly...
Revise what you Entered, better write it on the paper and count the characters...
The only error it would display is something like "Your phone is not supported yet" or "phone software not available" if your input is correct...
As I understand, you are stuck at step 3...
Please let me know if you still have issues, I'll do my best to help you...
Does it fix your missing recovery?
And no offence, please do not use so much color fonts in the post. It makes your article so difficult to read. Some of the colored sentences are even not import.
Using just bold, underlying, red , will be ok.

when you input the S/N, it locates the phone region, it searches for the latest firmware and installs it... Not the exact firmware that originally came with the device,
if say 6.X.X update rolled out then smartswitch will install that instead of the 6.0.1...
Patch Updates are done through the phone, they don't change firmware version...
