Search the forum for "sleep of death". (SoD)

You need to flash a different kernel mate
Go check for a kernel which might work best for you. Deep sleep was/is a known issue on lp9...

Why are you cfrooting a custom ROM?
Why are you cfrooting GB kernel on ICS ROM?
Use the Singapore lp9, no issues like other lp9 that is horrible.

So, i've installed the SiyahKernel.
I've installed a rooted kernel cause with the one that i got when i've bought the phone it wont let me install a custom rom.
My target is to install a stock ROM (only rooted) with a kernel that allow me to install that rom, that's it.
With this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569686 (it have been updated some days ago) and syrah kernel im done?
Or you raccomend another kernel/rom?
Thank you for the answers, btw

do a neat flash use stock rom and ,for rooting use the cf root which is resembelent to ur kernel, rom, csc, etc and for getting rid of the traingle use the stock kernel z image an flash it(this is for gb)then u can take any custum kernel z image and push it via cwm...if ur on ics then better use a stable version instead of rc,alpha.beta..............cheeeeeeerz

Maybe you can give a try to Speedmod kernel. It's simple, fast and has good battery life!

slow down it takes tym to gt a reply..
anyhow i m here
1) All custom roms are rooted so u will not loose ur root access..
2)All rom developers have listed the samsung apps deleted by them, and they usually give it as an addon pack if some people want.
See it what apps they have removed , if the app u want is deleted good for u or u have to deleted it manually as u have done in the past..
Alternatively u can delete it from the rom before flashing too... if u are experienced.
3)This is a kernel related issue try changing/flashing a new kernel the problem should get solved..
i want to flash the litening rom, what is the newest version available?
my kernel is KF4 but most of the roms i found are for other kernel versions, how do i solve this?
The latest version of litening ROM is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but can i suggest Cognition as i have used both and i do prefer cognition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
Your kernel doesnt matter - each ROM usually includes their own kernel and when you flash the new rom the kernel from that ROM will also be applied to your phone at the same time
Is cyanogenmod for gs2 released?

[Q] Sim lock / suitable rooted kernel for i9100m ugma5 4.1.2

Hi everybody,
I used Kies to upgrade to 4.1.2, from a stock (but unlocked) ICS.
It now asks for a sim unlock code on boot.
I have searched around and apparently I can use Galaxsim unlock, but I first need to be rooted.
I've been looking around for a suitable stock rooted kernel so I can do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
From what I can see CF does not have a ugma5 kernel. Is there any other rooting method that is appropriate?

+1 to PhilZ. It'a full stock kernel, rooted, and the latest recovery is great.
BTW, there is no such thing as "UGMA5 kernel" - UGMA5 is the modem (radio) which has nothing to do with kernel or rooting.
Thanks for your replies.
I took a stab at the Siyah kernel last night and can no confirm that it doesn't run very smoothly.
It's a huge battery hog and restarts the phone at will.

Just curious, which Siyah version did you try? I had no such problems with v6.0b5 running on several ROMs (clean stock and customized stock-based). I usually have some stability problems with Dori kernels, but the latest Siyah has been pretty good for me, stable and with nice customization options. v6.0b5 is the latest version available, although not very recent (can't blame the dev for setting his priorities ).
But anyway, PhilZ would probably be the safest bet for you, just because it's a stock kernel, and then you can go on experimenting...

This kernel may not be compatible. try to install stock kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199288

No idea. may be there is no problem. But why you want to flash kernel first. Actually everyone first flash rom and then most compatible/recommended kernel.
Thanks alot. I will try that and hope its work.

i9100 stock with root: which recovery?

Hi everybody. I've been using my i9100 for a few months so far, rooted but without recovery.
I need to flash some files now and i don't know what to flash for having cwm or any other kind of updated recovery.
Can you suggest me what to choose?
i've found PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSW-OXX-5.15.0-signed.zip, which seems to be the perfect choice but i'm afraid it won't support kitkat rom (and also i'm afraid it'll break my current rom by changing my kernel and taking me back to old superuser binaries.
Hope you'll help me, thank you so much in advance :victory: :highfive:

The zip you mentioned is for jelly bean, not kitkat. Here is the correct one for kitkat: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9100/. Don't worry about superuser, you can always update the binaries (through supersu).
wonderful, flashed and it's working (i thanked you with the button as well)
just some more tips if you can: what are the best improvements that you would flash on the stock rom via cwm? thank you

Stock rom is pretty awkward, I personally recommend flashing SlimSaber + DorimanX for best stability, performance and battery.

I would think twice about either leaving it stock or getting the power button fixed, because if you mess up and need to get into recovery or download mode(bootloop for example), you are going to have a **** of a time. At least get yourself a usb jig and also familiarize yourself with using adb. Anyways...
First you'll need to flash the modified philz kernel from HERE to get root access. Read carefully, especially the second and third posts. You will have to match the kernel to the stock rom version you are using. Depending on which custom rom you want to install, you'll probably need to then flash a newer recovery, but take your time and read up as much as you can on the steps to take in flashing etc from the OP's and other threads and you should be ok. Follow each step to the letter, as you don't want to mess anything up with no power button!!

Yes there is, but not a standalone zip. You need to flash a kernel that has twrp like apolo or gustavo kernel.

Gustavos doesn't work, only works on later android. I'm not 100% sure apolo will work on stock rom either, it might. It definately works on custom touchwiz 4.1.2 roms such as neatrom(from 4.x branch). The philz kernel from the link I posted earlier(XWLS8) has touch ui if that is your main need. Only it would need to be updated if you were to try flashing a 4.4 or 5.x rom later though.
Apolo thread
Apolo works on stock 4.1.2. You need apolo v4.15b
Even if everything goes ok, the OP might still end up with a boot loop......In which case he's still gonna need all the buttons to boot into recovery to wipe data........
I've lost count of the number of times I've advised getting hardware repaired BEFORE flashing stuff......I owned the S2 and flashed it to within an inch of it's life, but I wouldn't have even considered flashing with broken buttons........
Get it repaired, it really will stop you facing problems.......
