I was going to write an app and make a million dollars because I can't find an app that I need. I think others would buy it. But I checked out the Android programming videos parts 1 and 2. I think I'll let someone else make the million dollars. Lol :crosseyes:
It may exist, but I can't find it.....
What I would like to find us an app that will let me toggle notifications on and off by time and day automatically.
It should be able to toggle email, by account, and sms.
Scenario: I have 4 email accounts. I want to be able to set when my email account checks email and notifies me. I want to shut off awork email after work hours and have it turn back on at a specific time in the morning.
I want to turn off my other emails and sms notifications at bedtime and turn back on in the morning.
But I still want the phone to be able to ring and the alarm to work throughout the night in case of emergency calls and so I can get up in the morning.
It would be preferable that the email and sms be able to be turned completely off so there wouldn't be anything showing up in notification bar until it turned back on in the morning instead of merely turning off the sound for those.
But at this point I would love just to be able to toggle sound notification by email account and sms.
If anyone knows of an app that does this please post it here.
If a dev would like to tackle it, please pm me just so I know. It would be fun to follow development and beta test. And I would let you keep some of the million dollars it will make. Lol
EDIT: It should be customizable by day of week as well. Ie. I could leave work email off during weekend but have others working. I also think students would like to be able to customize for MWF and TT settings.
I am on 2.3.4
Gmail app should be included too
My sensce email stock app has scheduals for peak and off peak. Off peak I have sync off and u can pic hours etc.
Sent from my HTC Incredible 2 using XDA
I guess I should say what I am using. Right now I have a moto droid x using the Motorola universal inbox for email and then the gmail app for my gmail accounts. Handcent for sms.

Didn't know if this was the best place to put this or not, but I'm looking for an app that will allow me to enter my Facebook and Twitter status without having to open up a full program, just by typing it all in the today screen field. Think Skyfire's "Update My Status" function but on the today screen like how the optional search bar field works.
I have a 2nd today screen on my Rhodium that I use to manage a few apps that aren't TF3D friendly, and have room for a few short lines for me to type my status into Facebook and Twitter while on the go. I like how Skyfire has the options to globally change status on both FB and Twit at the same time, so if you know of something that will do that, please point me in the right direction! I've heard about the Twitter tab for TF3D, but would rather update status through FB instead of through Twit because of the 140 character limits.
All help on this subject, including how you currently update your status quickly without having to load Skyfire or enter in a mobile browswer or through texts, would be greatly appreciated!
here is a solution for twitter : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/06/16/twittoday-15-post-twitter-tweets-from-windows-mobile-today-screen.html.. If u find a solution for Facebook ..let me know

that is PERFECT for Twitter, wow, exactly what I was looking for.... and like you said, now to find one that does Facebook as well! I've seen people link their FB and Twit status, is that something to look into and just use this for quick, 140 character updates?
EDIT - that only works for those who don't have "protected" Twitter accounts.... oh well!
http://www.ajvaynerchuk.com/how-to-link-twitter-to-facebook-a-twitter-tutorial/
BINGO! I knew if I kept searching I would eventually find it....
http://blog.steffanantonas.com/hack...tter-and-still-keep-your-tweets-protected.htm
Just used TwitToday and updated my status on Facebook, even though my tweets are protected on Twitter! Nice.........
Okay, in case anyone is wondering why Facebook SUCKS at updating Twitter status....... get rid of it altogether and use Yakket:
http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=48449043052
Worked on the first try and my Twitter status is protected. Doesn't take 30mins to an hour to update like the stupid Twitter app on Facebook does, and even Tweeter didn't work for me. Was so tired of having to wait for status updates that are time-sensitive to post on FB using Twitter, and this works!!! Thought I'd pass on the good news!
CycHowdy Messenger
You can try the CycHowdy Messenger that I just posted...
great
Those are great tools but I would like to see an app that actually provide me some updates as well. Something like Android does with facebook.
Is there any application like this ?
I was wondering if samsung wiz would allow something like that...
So I figured with all the DEV's in one spot I would start a thread were people just suggest what apps they would like created. Sorry if this has already been done but I didn't find anything in my searches. So any ideas as to apps that you would like to see? Or apps that you want upgraded with certain features?
Like an app that automagicly imputs what song you are listening to into your text signatures. (Not my suggestion, simply an example.)
I'm sure this will sound odd but, how about something along the lines of whats called an EVPmaker like this
Seeing an app with the basic features of this program, using the Speakjet allophones sound file built in, tying it to the phones voice recorder and forcing it into airplane mode could be an interesting experiment.
I have seen discussions about how you should not be using a cell phone as a "ghost hunting tool" however it's an idea for those times when something goes BUMP in the night and all you have is your phone.

That's my docking station I use d
for my defy. (That's the 1st one that broke on me in the back. She's a good back up battery charger. But as u see I need to have my defy upside down to plug it to the speaker. Which I do but no app can fully rotate my music player completely upside for me. So I don't have to.flip it all the time to read whats on pandora or a text comes in. If I hand any skill/know how I would make that app for myself and share

I was actually thinking of coding an Android app like EVPmaker, but first I have to teach myself Android programming. Meanwhile you can try "ITC Ghost Talker" which is a Flash applet and runs in any (mobile) browser.

i would like to see an alarm app that would allow you to set alarms (not alerts but a full blown alarm) based on calender events because of my college scheduled i have to set 3 alarms for the week and when i have a day off i normally either forget to turn it off a get woken up early on my day off or turn it off and forget to turn it back on. So since my schedule is in my calender it be nice to just set it based on that and not have to worry about turning then alarms off and back on
As the title states...(minus the calling capabilities of course)
Thanks for the info.
Rob
If you refer to google voice for text messages and calls and not google voice search as some people get confused, then yes it works pretty well, but for make calls it does not work with other apps like groove IP , gvoice and so because of the lack of the proper drivers for the mic and possibly speaker too.

Awesome thanks....yes I will just be using for the texting. When the NT is in sleep mode will it still notify you of an incoming message or do you have to manually check it? Also, when rooted do you get audible notifications for new messages and/or emails like you do on a regular Android tab or phone?

yes you can get audible notifications, and the notfications will not show up while nook is sleeping once you wake it up wifi will wake up too in few seconds and then you will have to wait until next refresh of google voice to check for new texts to finally show up in your notification status bar, i think it refresh every 5min but not sure and there is not option to set the refreshing time in google voice.

The only problem is that you cannot access your contacts list (since the Contacts application is not installed).

Nop, you can use your contacts while you sync them with your gmail account:

I've successfully texted using Google Voice with the NT (sent and received). I use GMail, but recently started using Contapps for viewing and text messaging/e-mailing my contacts on the tablet. It also has Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc integration. So far so good.
No go on the phone calling though.
Hi! Little problem here, an AT&T GSIII.
I'm using the stock email app to read my school email on Exchange. A few times, emails in my inbox are half-loaded and hitting "download more details" does nothing. But, if I forward the email, the copied email shows up perfectly. Like here, compare the inbox view and the forwarded view:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It's not just that table; the entire rest of the email is blank in the inbox and completely there if I forward it. Does the stock app not work with Exchange? I did have to manually enter the settings...
Thanks in advance,
~Ibrahim~
I started a similar thread about ghost emails from a pop3 comcast account when using the tw native mail app -
No solution as of yet...
Weird...I'm gonna call Samsung later today.
Are you guys using power saving?
If so, I noticed the same issue, because power saving will try to turn your text to white, and your background to black for less power usage, however, it fails to change the background. So if you highlight the text are, you should be able to see the text. I just disabled that part of the power saving feature set.

He shoots and scores ! Thanks for the tip, it looks like power saving is the culprit..
Shnaps!! You're right!
Thank you for the tip!

You guys are very welcome. It was something that I stumbled upon after trying to max out my battery life.
Also as a note, if anyone is interested, you can adjust the text color and background color of the email messages if you go to the menu while already in an email.
Oh! That's the issue, though. Even from within the email app, it changes the font color fine, but the background still doesn't change. Or is that just on mine?
backround
Mine does the same thing, exchanged and same result, must be a bug with Exchange and the email program!

I have 3 email accounts configured all with peak times set to 08:00am - 11:00pm 7 days a week (I'm retired) with sync set to MANUAL otherwise. It seems that GMAIL ignores these settings waking me up at night with email notifications (for junk mail! 01:00am and 05:59am this morning!) I don't see any settings for Google's data sync features. Just on or off. (Calendar, Contacts, etc.)
I need to keep the phone on for emergency calls but want it to be silent for text or email notifications. Seems to work with YAHOO and HOTMAIL??
Apps I find silence the whole phone.... not just email or text notifications.
Thanks!
Edit: didn't read all of post. Go to gmail->settings->click your email address->then disable notifications

That's great for gmail, but I'm sure the OP is asking about the stock mail app. I too would love this, I have my peak time set and manual sync during off peak, but I also get email notifications all night. I think I may have to setup one of my nfc tags to mute notifications and stick it next to my bed so I can mute them when I go to sleep and unmute them when I wake up just by tapping the tag.
I want notifications during the day!!!

You need something like sounds profiles. Here's one I found for ya:

Mbaseball3,
Thanks for the link however it states in the description for ICS 4.0 "Phone only profiles will not work!!"
There was however a user comment who used an app called "Llama" that looks promising.... I'm going to try it....
