Hello, Im fairly new to the form and have been reading alot about getting ics on the htc amaze 4g.
Ive unlocked the boot loader and installed cwm, i wiped all data, and cache, then installed speed rom 3.0.0 and am now stuck in a boot load for about 20 min. any suggestions?

unless you achieve s-off you will need to separately flash the kernel for that ICS based ROM. You can flash the kernel manually using fastboot from a computer
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
or you can use a kernel flasher or you could use 4ext recovery (just make sure you select that you have S-ON when it asks).
I highly recommend 4ext recovery. Once you try it you wont go back

I have hboot 1.5 and rooted my Evo 3D using the HTC method.
Anyway my screen will work in hboot, recovery, and on the HTC splash screen, but after that it just goes black.
I know my phone is fully booting though because the notification light works when I get a new message etc, and I can swipe the lock ring and feel the screen vibrate on keypad for my pin.
I think this happened after flashing a kernel in joeykrim's flash gui app.
I've tried flashing new roms or restoring a backup in recovery but nothing works.
Considering that I still have recovery and hboot is there anything I can do?

Try wiping everything (data, cache, dalvik) then do a factory reset, then flash a ROM and boot.

I just tried that a couple times and the screen is still going black after the HTC screen
You may need to wipe more than just /data etc. Either go find a good super wipe or format /system /boot /cache and /data might as well wipe android secure on the sd card too. Most likely you have a few leftover modules from your kernel that aren't playing nice. After doing this load the rom you want on the sdcard. Then flash it from fastboot on the computer. You won't be able to use joeykrms gui since by formatting everything you won't be able to boot untill everything is replaced. Flashing through fastboot on the computer will accomplish this for you.

You shoot boot in bootloader then hit power button > connect usb > it should say fastboot usb> flash the boot.img from the rom you flashed using command fastboot flash boot boot.img ( make sure you copy boot.img in you fastboot folder) > then fastboot boot cwmxxxxxxx.img > then flash a 2.3.4 kernel not any other ( ziggy anthrax etc ) then try to reboot. If you have wiped you rom then flash boot.img from the rom you wanna flash then boot into recovey using fastboot > then flash rom.zip >then flash a 2.3.4 kernel
Sorry i wasnt able to explain clearly .....i wanna go to work
hope this helps.
Dont forget to thank if i helped you

Oh man thanks so much! It totally worked!
Am I going to have to do this same procedure every time I want to flash a rom from now on, or should things be fixed?

I don't know exactly if you have to follow same steps for different roms. Flash image GUI is to flash. recoveries and kernel. I had only used that software twice for kernel and never tried it for recovery. It has some issues with few kernels. Some work some dont. I use. the steps posted in second post of infected eternity rom thread . I don't follow all steps as all of them are not necessary.
And I think only 2.3.4 kernels work on hboot 1.50 with flash image GUI.Roms and kernels are meant to be flashed from fastboot using PC. untill we get s-off.
Need some help and am not having any luck on the forums.
I have an Hboot 1.5 Evo 3D rooted with the Synergy ROM. I have EXT4 files, and a ziggy kernal.
I have had the ROM or 2 months. I overclocked it to 1.8 GHZ the other day and locked the phone up. I kept trying to reboot and when I did it just locked up. I overcloked in SetCPU, and it was checked "set at boot", so I couldn't get it back down. I kept doing this, tried a factory reset in hboot, and now the only thing the phone does is tries to boot the rom and gets stuck after about 30 seconds.
What can I do? Is this phone fried? I tried to use the command prompt on my computer and can't get anything to communicate with the phone via fastboot USB. Answers needed as I have had a non functioning phone for 4 days. An answer or a link would be greatly appreciated.
Boot into recovery and flash a new rom (or reflash the rom). Make sure you wipe data/cache partitions/dalvik cache before flashing the rom and then wipe the dalvik cache again after flashing the rom.

Can't get into clockwork mod recovery to do that. Don't know what the problem is but I am about to just run this thing over and take it to Best Buy.

Reflash ClockworkMod recovery then, via fastboot. Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638.
Someone please help!!?! I cannot for the life of me flash a ICS rom. I have tried various methods but all to no avail. I have an Evo that I bought some time ago, rooted some time ago using HTC's bootloader unlock and then used adb to flash recovery and su to the phone to gain root. I have flashed many if not all sense roms no problem but now that I am wanting to flash an ICS rom It just won't let me. No matter the recovery I use after flashing an ICS rom it stays stuck on the first splash screen and will not load custom ICS rom. I have wiped all caches did factory resets and whatnot but still have not been able to flash an ICS rom
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Have you tried 4ext with smartflash?
ics
Hello are you using a super wipe tool after wiping cache and dalvik battery stsats then format system and format data and format boot and format all partitions except sd card and when this is done now use the super wipe tool and when its done it will reboot back in recovery and now you can flash any ics rom these are the steps i use with no problem's and yes 4ext is highly recomended
You're S-ON, you need to either use 4ext w smartflash or Joey Krim's Flash Image GUI in order to flash a kernel for ICS.
S-ON does not allow for flashing kernels except in fastboot mode, with 4ext/smartflash which was introduced 2 days ago evidently, or Flash Image GUI.
Easy fix
Thanks everyone. I finally got it to work using 4ext. I was so dead set on keeping twrp that I forgot to look for other recoveries.

I am have some issues booting any rom, i hav an unlocked bootloader, hboot 1.93.0003, emmc-boot and s-off with cwm touch recovery. I have tried with both speedrom and android revolution roms. They both instaled but they never boot up pass their boot animation screen, plz help
1st flash 4ext touch recovery using hasoon's AIO toolkit for amaze.
2) wipe /format
- wipe chache + delvik cache.
- wipe all partitions ( except sdcard )
3) install from zip.
- choose file to flash.
And then your Rom will work fine...
Hit thanks if I helped you !!!:thumbup:

Greetings from Florida,
Don't use Clockworkmod recovery, it's bad.
Use Hasoon's toolkit to flash 4ext. It's much better.
You also need to be Super CID and have the ICS firmware installed.
Once you have that settled, go into 4ext recovery by either holding volume down and power, and choosing recovery, or reboot from hasoon's toolkit's menu.
Choose format all partitions and then flash either ARHD or SpeedRom. I also made some Roms that you might want to try out.
Please press thanks if this helps.
Best regards.
Wipe that sucker!
Then update to ics!
Then do everything you did, all over again.
well I was flashing MIUI V5 UNIVERSAL - v. 3.7.12 for the 3vo and it got stuck in a bootloop. to try and fix it I tried to restore a backup and that rom played a little of the boot animation but then gets stuck in a bootloop. I also tried to wipe/format everything but, that didn't work. If a logcat would help i would appreciate a link on how to do that without being able to boot. I can boot to 4ext recovery. The cause could be that while flashing I selected the file to flash, I selected a file that didn't finish downloading. Thanks in advance for any help
Also if it matters my original rom was negalite blurom.

I ran into your same problem today.
At the time my phone was on latest sprint firmware, ICS coolrom (latest rom and kernel) with hboot 1.58 unlocked s-off.
The steps I did preparing to install MIUI was
1) wipe data/factory reset from 4EXT
2) format all (except sdcard)
3) Install MIUI > chose mirage kernal
4) rebooted
after reboot it was stuck at the logo, at least I thought it was, let it sit for about 5 minutes.
Pulled the battery and tried steps 1-4 again.
Kept getting bootloop at that point. Boot splash -> logo -> reboot.
Next I tried flashing the latest mirage kernel from 4ext.
No luck, same issue.
Tried repeating steps 1-4 again.
No luck stuck in bootloop.
At that point I tried to run recovery from a backup I knew was working.
Wiped all data and format all -> selected recovery from 4ext.
Result: still boot loop.
At that point I tried changing bootloader to 1.58.58 jbear. and wiping/formatting all and trying recovery again from known working cool ics backup.
Result: still bootloop.
Switched back to 1.58 bootloader and tried fresh install of CoolICS rom. (I always wipe all data and format all before any rom change.)
Result: still bootloop.
At this point I was getting frustrated but I had an idea that the MIUI install when selecting mirage kernel may have messed up the partition size for the kernel since the mirage kernel states it must be flashed from the flash gui app first to resize the boot partition.
Next I downloaded pacman rom and attempted that install.
result: could not install due to wrong bootloader.
Next I downgraded bootloader to 1.50.50 jbear.
Wiped everything and retried pacman rom.
Install success, before starting the reboot from recovery, I received a message that the boot image has changed and will make a backup/format/flash the new boot image.
upon reboot I was able to successfully boot into pacman rom.
At that point I tried to wipe all again and install CoolICS rom again.
result: bootloop, but probably because of bootloader version. Did not fully test it as at this point I just wanted a working phone again and wanted to try out MIUI.
Rebooted to recovery and wiped everything again.
Installed MIUI using stock kernel option. This time on reboot I let it sit at the rom logo without touching anything. I think it restarted once on its own.
Result: Success. Phone working normally now. such a headache I am just leaving it as is for now.
