ICS overclock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi there,
Just loaded the leaked ICS and rooted it. Now, does anyone know of a way to overclock? I just tried using Da_G's just for kicks...didn't work (as i figured would be the case).
Thanks to anyone who can help.

We won't be able to overclock until Samsung releases kernel sources for ICS.
I'm guesstimating that kernel sources will come out a few months after our phones get an official ICS update.

Kernel and such?

Hello everyone!
I have a simple question that I would like to have answered. I'm adept at running custom ROMS on my GTAB, but I've never really messed with kernel stuff before.
There isn't exactly a 'topic' that deals with this, and pershoots website doesn't have that much detail either.
So I would like to know what kernel would be the best for me to run.
I've got VEGAn-Tab GingerEdition running and I just installed pershoots 2.6.32.39-cyanogenmod and it should be the ginger edition
Is this the right kernel or should I be running another?
Thanks
There are basically two kernels that are being actively supported on XDA, pershoot's and clemsyn's (clemsyn has several kernels out, but they're all just slight variations on the same kernel). If you want to overclock above 1.4GHz and/or adjust the voltage settings, then you should try clemsyn's. If not, then stick with pershoot's. It's what I use. It's what most of the devs on here include with their ROMs. For me, it seems to run better with less work. But try them both out for yourself and see what you like better. That's the only way you can really know if you're running the "right" kernel.
Also, pershoot just updated his kernel to 3.6.32.40, if you want the latest version.
Froyo use clemsyn. Gb use pershoot. Jmho...
Hey Thanks! This stuff gets quite confusing.
Another question here. I have installed Roms but how do we install a Kernel? Do we install prior to the Rom?
Thanks in advance
I've tested out every version.
1- froyo -->clemsy
2- ginger --> pershoot
3- flash kernel as you would with any other zip file. Do not use calk wipe all zip.

[Q] Custom ICS kernels (Stock/AOSP)

I know this question might have already been answered, but since the official MIUI v4 based on ICS is coming on our device on the 29th, I was wondering how's the situation about Samsung and sources so that developers could build custom ICS kernels. I can't wait to try MIUI v4, but I can't live without some advanced features such as led-notif (or BLN, where unavailable), OC/UV and LOUDER.
No Sammy sources yet.
No custom kernels, hence.
Expect Sammy stock kernel sources about 2 to 4 weeks after ICS is officially available via KIES in the first regions.
Custom kernels about a week after that, give or take.

[Q] CWM for 6.0.A.2.45 yet?

Can anybody direct me if there is a new kernel based on the newest released firmwares? I did got my phone rooted with Advanced Kernel Build 14 then switched back to the stock kernel. Doesn anybody have any news on the matter? As when it might come out or so?:highfive:
Advanced Stock Kernel works fine on .45.

[Q] Possible to keep Gingerbread Kernel for ICS?

Well I am working on beagleboard-xm project, where I am supposed to upgrade the current Android version to ICS. The thing is, I have to keep the current kernel , because it is customized for some applications that run on that board. It is not me that compiled that kernel...
Is it even possible to keep the "old" kernel and upgrade to ICS? Can it be done in any way? Or a new kernel with new patches has to be installed...?
Thank you! :good:

i don't think it'll be possible for you to use the GB kernel for ICS
I used to have an HTC Desire S. After ICS was released all 4.0 roms on that phone used a modified gingerbread kernel for months, any attempt by the devs to use their own ICS kernel failed. I believe that HTC have now released the ICS kernel but it would be a good place to look. If I remember correctly the main devs for the phone I used were "superkid" and "mdeejay".
I now have a g nexus so can't give you more up to date info.

[Q] Difference between KEXEC cm10 and CM10?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801379
I find two versions of CM10 in this tutorial which are CM10 with and without KEXEC respectively.
SO what is the difference between of them?
thanks!!
I believe that kexec cm10 is a ROM version which has a custom kernel that " hijacks" the stock kernel when booting. But I warn you it has a lot of major bugs like no camera, battery drain, and much more. On the other hand Just regular cm10 is fairly stable and runs off the stock kernel (recommended). But remember since the new leaked jb ota came out for the RAZR. You just can't flash a ROM made for the ICS ota on the jb ota. UNLESS YOU USE KEXEC. THIS ONE WILL WORK ON ALL OTAs
Hope I helped
