[Q] "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi all
I've a stock UK TF201running 2.6.39.4-00003 - xxxxx
My tablet used to update everything really swiftly and check the registered email account regularly. However, for the last 8 weeks or so, my calander hasn't updated and emails come through as and when. Quite often Gmail closes of it's own accord on opening with an error message allowing me to report it. I've been sending these off regularly but no remedy has been forwarded.
When I look at the "Account & Sync" page under settings, I see taht the Google account has a red sync circle by it instead of a green one (as I have on the Skype below it). Tapping on the @gmail.com account shows "Sync Browser", "Sync Calander", "Sync Contacts" and "Sync Gmail" all with a apostrophe by them and a check mark ticked. "Sync Google Photos" and "Sync Picsa Web Albums" however do not have a syncy symbol or the apostrophe but do have the checked symbol. At the bottom of the page almost like a note, there is the sync symbol with an apostrophe and the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".
Does anyone else have this or know how to rectify it? I've looked through the web and a number of phones running Gingerbread say to enable background data to get rid of this. I'm on ICS and this option is not available.
As another diagnostic test, I tried adding another gmail account that I have. This also shows exactly the same symptoms as my existing google account "experiencing problems back shortly" message.
It is very frustrating and I really don't think that Google are going to provide a solution seeing as it's been ongoing for over 2 months and they haven't even acknowledged this as a problem. Having said that, it may just be that some of my settings need amending or something.
Desperate for your advice and suggestions.
Regards

Why do some of my Google calendar events show in my calendar & some don't?

This is quite frustrating and I can't seem to find a solution to this. I have birthdays and anniversaries entered for my contacts which are sync'd to my phone as well. Most of the birthdays and anniversaries show up in my calendar on my phone but some don't. Doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it either. I noticed that on my HTC Evo LTE I can go to Calendar and specify which calendars it displays. Inside here there is the 'Contacts birthday's & Events' like what I have displayed on my Google Calendar on my PC and the color is yellow. The interesting part is that there is another calendar option called 'People' that is green and I think is an HTC Sense thing but am not 100% on this. The interesting part is that if I choose to display this all of my contact's dates are displayed in duplicate but some extra ones also display.. the ones that don't display on my yellow calendar. One might think the simple solution would be to uncheck the yellow one and check the green one and be done with it but there are also dates that show up on the yellow calendar that don't show up on the green one. The weird part is they BOTH take info from the same source so I don't understand this difference. I went through my contacts making sure they were all added to my 'Friends' group as I think this may have something to do with what events show and what not but it doesn't seem to help.
What gives? What am I doing wrong or what options should I be looking for to correct this? I've already missed a couple anniversaries and b-days a result and it's frustrating because when I realize I missed it I go to my contacts and there it is listed within the contact info but it never displayed in the calendar for some reason.
Someone who knows the calendars please help me out with this problem.
Anyone?
If anyone else has this issue I was able to uncheck the calendars that were currently selected, back out to let it refresh and then go back in and check them once again to get it to work. I'll keep my eye on it and see if it stays fixed but after backing back out the second time there were birthdays there that weren't prior to this little dance. If you're having this issue try giving that a shot.

Works for me, thanks!
Thanks for this thread! I can't believe 2 years later this problem is still occurring with Android (I'm on 4.4.2).
I experience this problem anytime I add a contact's birthday (or another date) to my contacts. In order for it to show up on my calendar, I need to select "Calendars to sync" in calendar settings, then uncheck "Contacts' birthdays & events", back out to the calendar, then go back into "Calendars to sync" and re-select "Contacts' birthdays & events". Once I back out to the calendar again it refreshes within a few seconds and the new date(s)/event(s) finally appear on the calendar.
Just performing those steps in the "Calendars to display" menu doesn't work.

Microsoft Hotmail Syn Issues

I get this error every other day it seems. I have Auto Sync set to ON and I get this error where Microsoft Hotmail would have red reload sign with a note at the bottom saying "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Anyone else experience this and are there any resolutions?
Thanks
Search is good but still no answer

[Resolved] Google account sync settings are unexpectedly reset

Hello,
I own Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) 4.1.2 with a root enabled. I've noticed that my Google account sync settings may suddenly reset. For example, I go Settings - Accounts - Google - <my account> and tick "Sync Calendar", "Sync Contacts", "Sync Gmail". Then I press "Sync now". Everything is ok so far. Now I can do my business, switching between applications, browsing, reading. If I then decide to check the Sync settings, everything will be ok, everything that I checked before stay checked. Even shutting down the phone and turning it on will keep these settings intact. At least, for the first check. The second or the third check already shows me that only "Sync Contacts" is enabled, but Calendar and Gmail are off.
What the heck?! Does anybody know what's wrong with my Android?
It's not the problem anymore I've realized what is responsible for that. It's Juice Defender app. Good app, I just didn't get the full understanding of one of its feature called AutoSync. Sorry for that.

Google Keep Sync Issues

Hi,
I'm having trouble using Google Keep.
It doesn't want to sync at all.
It says "Sync is Unavailable" under my account in settings, I checked and it it flag for syncing in the system preferences.
It doesn't seem to be link to my android because I changed ROM 3-4 times in the last days and it's always the same issue.
It seems to be link to the Google Keep server itself though. Here is a screenshot from my browser.

Contacts not linking with Facebook

I don't know if this has been addressed somewhere and I haven't found it, but I've been searching various forums for days now looking for my answer. I have resulted to this.
It's more of an annoyance than anything, but I cannot get Facebook to link with my contacts. Facebook shows up as synced in "Accounts and Sync" in Settings, but when I open a contact and click "link" and choose Facebook, nothing shows up. Just says "No results found".
The only cause of this I can think of is remotely logging off Facebook from all devices and locations from my home computer. Even then, when I've done it before I just re-log in on my phone and everything is fine.
My current rom is ViperOne M8 4.6.0. Which is on Sense 7. Android Version 5.0.2
Any help or advise would be appreciated.
