Comerica bank app and superuser - HTC EVO 3D

I thought this was strange. For some reason my Comerica app is requesting superuser permission in the ics leak rom. I denied it and now the app will not load up and it force closes. Why would this app need superuser? I am a bit worried that it could be malicious or something. Sounds like a bad idea to give root privileges to a banking app.

I dunno why it would request that. But no way I'm gonna give su access to a bank app.

Try clearing the data on the bank app. Then open up Su. If there's a log entry for the bank app get rid of it. Then tap the menu and check for a Su update. If it needs one the update it. If not then reopen the bank app and see if it requests Su permissions again.

Now I'm getting a force close without a super user notification. I had the super user request come up at a random time before though, when I wasn't even trying to open the app.

Had my us bank app request it for the first time ever today as well. Also ics 3.6 rom.

HBO go app now asking for super user permission

There is a new update to the HBO go app - still does not play video on our phone - but more importantly the new update is requesting super user permissions!
Not sure why yet, just want to pass out heads up and for anyone noob who has rooted who does not fully understand what that means in LINUX just warn
Don't allow anything or any app super user permission (root permission) if you don't know what it is doing!

nevermind.....plays but no vid...weird...asks for SU every time
I opened it and saw the request for root permission. I hit DENY and then it still went to the main page, I was able to open and play the last video I started watching. I am on CM7 and the video and audio ARE WORKING.

Good to know it is working on cm7. Hopefully someone will find out what is up with the su request.

Asked me for su I said yes...worked for one episode of the wire...now blank w/sound again...

That's weird. I'm not getting a superuser request.

I got the request after an update from the market.

It finally works on the international SGS2 after the update. Before you'd get audio and a giant pause button where the video should be. It doesn't ask for superuser rights on my phone after the update.

[Q] Removing permissions?

So I am wondering if we remove a certain permission from an app, does the app still have the ability to use that permissions?
Example: Pandora can read contacts list, I remove that permission from the APK, Can Pandora still read my contact list?

How did you remove that permission?
Well from my experience of Android app development, the app needs the permission or it will not work.
For example: I was programming a BootReceiver which gets notified when the phone completed the boot but I was forgetting the BootReceiver permission and it was not working.
You can surely block permission using certain apps. Apps are lbe,droidwall,pdroid..

I'm asking if I remove them completely. Will it work?

If you use lbe it should as I think lbe fakes the information you deny the other apps use of so that the other app doesn't realise its blocked at all.

I'm still looking for a straight up answer...
I'm using lbe and it blocks/fakes the block permission and it works with no problem.

As has been said if you remove the permissions yourself via code then no it may not work with some apps but with lbe app it will because it fakes the permissions so your app thinks its still got them and so it won't stop working.

The app will not be able to access the permission if you manually remove it from the app, however it will most likely force close on occasion - specifically when trying to use the functions the permission was needed for. In some cases this won't be an issue, in others it will mean force close city.
In the case of removing the permission to access contact data, you shouldn't have any problems unless you try to share something with a contact.

Permission on Infected Eternity?

I was dumb and I was given to do permissions on Google Play, so I denied access to everything.
How do I change the access given to the app? It keeps saying I need a google account even though there is one on there right now.
It isn't like a superuser access, but I think a privacy one?
Thanks!
Anyone? It kinda sucks not being able to update or download any new apps lol
Try going to the setting>applications>management>
Select Google play and then clear the cache.

Use root explorer, find the app you are trying to fix, change to r/w, then long press and press permissions.
Sent From Under A Ghillie Suit
I couldn't find it using the Root explorer and I tried uninstalling the updates and cache.
Nothing.
I might just have to reinstall the ROM and start fresh or try something new ^_^
there should be an app in your drawer called "Pdroid"... open it and you should be able to fix it from there
Remove ur acoount from the phone in accounts and just log back in...

Permissions

When I use like root explorer or anything that's needs superuser permissions it tells me granted permissions on an inactive shell. What does that mean?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks everyone who has looked at this and not helped me
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
No problem. Sometimes we have more important things to do in life besides logging on every freakin day...like working and paying bills.

Are you sure it says inactive shell? Mine says interactive shell when out gives root permissions.
As to it's meaning, I don't know which is probably why no one answered before.
Read, Search, Read again, ... Then Ask with Tapatalk 2
I'm sorry it does say interactive.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
It just means the app has Superuser permissions and allows you to do things you'd normally need to be rooted to do. For example being able to modify system files. It's the equivalent of Administrative privileges on Windows. The interactive shell is just that; the things you interact with as the user.

[Q] New Download Permission for Firefox and HTC browsers?

Hello,
Iv noticed a weird new permission request when updating HTC & Firefox Browsers,
"Download Files Without Notification"
This permission is quite dangerous in my opinion!
Anyone has a comment about it? And why is it a required permission?
Strange, I opened Play Storr and I don't see such permission? [emoji53]

If you are rooted, there is an Xposed module that lets you see all the permissions an app requests, a while back google changed the way they present permission requests and made it quite broad and bundled together, no details as we used to get before.
Anyone?
