Just wondering if anyone has kept root with voodoo and then tried to flash eclipse on the new OTA update.. since eclipse is 2.3.5 based would it work on the new OTA?
Tried but this was the result Copying files... E:Can't chown/mod /system/(Operation not permitted) E:Failure at line 294: set_perm_recursive 0 0 0755 0644 SYSTEM: Installation aborted.
Had to nand after.

I was on the 1.3.418 soak trying to flash Eclipse 2.1.

That's cuz of the su backup causing eclipse to bomb. Once you are rooted again delete the su BU with voodoo.
But wifi will not work from eclipse on /413 or /418 anyway.

Also, you can flash eclipse onto the new update but it won't have wifi, just like skwood said above.

I updated to Andrynalyn's V2 ROM yesterday, I was hoping it would solve the issue of SU crashing. it did not. Now SU is Force Closing, and I can't use Titanium Backup to restore or ROM manager to restore to previous versions. ROM M just hangs. I have root, S-off, but can't get SU permissions for apps. Any suggestions on how to flash back to previous ROMS or at this point stock root would be fine thanks. Also, any body else having trouble with tethering? probably related to lack of SU permissions.
Thanks.

What rom are you running? Did you apply rmk's su patch?
@jmiller
I am running Adrynlyne's first debloated ROM, i'm not sure what it's called. I rooted fairly quickly and flashed the ROM and then haven't updated to anything newer, just wanted better battery life and to lose crapware.
I just saw the rmk's su patch today, I downloaded the .zip and tried to install via Rom Manager, but ROM keeps force closing and not loading due to Superuser not working properly, I think. essentially I can't get the phone to install the .zip from ROM manager. I'm a n00b, and thought about using adb to push the .zip and load it that way, but I'm not sure of the commands I need.
Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks.

This prob needs to be posted under adrynalyn's thread so that he will see it. I would prob start over with rooting again though, it sounds like it did not root properly.

I have a feeling that it is screwing with my system. I tried to update to 1.19 at one point and the busybox installer told me that there was a problem and that I have multiple copies installed.
I just did a fresh install, wiping /system. However, busybox is still installed, and I'm sure it's in /sbin.
How can I remove it cleanly?
Bump. Please, I'm at wits end!

Busybox is baked in the kernel.
Clockworkmod needs busybox, if you build a kernel, then you see.
Only stock kernels doesnt have!
Thanks for your reply!

Im trying to install the swype beta on my DROID x2. I've uninstalled the stock swype from my phone using titanium backup. However when I go to install swype using the installer, it doesn't work. Anything im missing or forgettinf

I haven't installed the beta since I was on 2.2, but what I had to do then was remove the app and then go to /system/lib and remove libSwypeCore.so (if it's not that, it's pretty close to that). Then I installed the beta and it worked like a charm.

+1 this.. I had to set this up in the my rom to get it to work.
Another question on this topic.
How to bring it over into roms without going through installer?
Would setting up the beta then, bringing over the .lib and apk work? I tried something similar but didnt work.
I tried removing the core and it wont allow me to. Am I missing something? Im running eclipse 1.2 fyi.

Delete the .lib file then go to applications... Delete cache n data... Then delete the system/app.then go through install of beta.

This is because you must remount the /system directory as read/write. normally it is read only.
How would I go about doing that, im fairly new to most of this so any help would be appreciated.

If you have safestrap go into the app, select the uninstall feature and re try the install. No need to download anyones utility or no need to factory reset.
do you happen to know the download path of the ota? Due to safestrap mine failed.. hate to download it again..
Should be in setting/ about phone/ updates
yeah thats to download it again.. i was hoping it would just install it if the system saw the file there. oh well at 55% i can wait a little longer..
After the phone reboots, if the install takes really really slow then ur on the right path
What if I have installed BootStrap recovery????

Arrgh i swear i did.. While i was doing tb backups it slipped my mine i reckon.. really wish i could find the dl path for the update... hopefully third time will work!
Whether uninstalling the "Razr BootStrap" using "Managa Applications" is enough... Or I have to do some extra steps too????
Please help me... I don't care much about root, as the update usually unroots it and I can root again easily...
Bootstrap may be a dif problem. Like i said i used safestrap. I dunno what else you have done to urvphone. You might need the dev team to help you. I never used roms so i was stock i also never froze any bloatware.
Ummm. You're welcome....

I think i thanked you last night lol.
arrgh 3rd time failed no bloat removed just stock rooted.. temp unrooted safestrap uninstalled.. any ideas? guess i might need to restore back to stock..
Sounds like you have something breaking the install. I know ive done very little to my phone. Factory reset may be your option but i would get hold of a tech here b4 u do anything

You need to first uninstall the razr bootstrap app through "manage apps" (look under the all apps tab - clear data first while you're there).
Then, with root explorer or such, go to the /system/bin folder, mount r/w, and delete the following files:
hijack
logwrapper
Then, rename logwrapper.bin to simply logwrapper (just remove the .bin)...
Reboot, and it should be all cleaned out.
I would also recommend using voodoo ota rootkeeper to backup your root, then temporarily un-root (hide root) before doing the OTA install.
If you still get ota install errors, then you probably removed some system apps that are verified before installation... check /cache/recovery/last_log for errors.. then either replace those apk/odex files, or flash the fxz..

Thanks so much for the info. That logwrapper file was withholding me from updating.
I tried deleting and renaming the files with no success updating. I eventually just ended up doing a factory wipe and using Matt's Utility and flashing back to stock. It was a little frustrating, but the Verizon backup utility combined with Google services saved me. I guess i need to learn how to use Titanium backups. lol
this thread should be titled "How I got my Safestrapped RAZR to install ICS OTA successfully", as your issue was more to do with safestrap then specifically just being rooted.

Me too!
I'm having the same issue and am not finding a solution anywhere. Were you able to?
Mine was able too after 4.2 zip.
Anybody?... Am I forever stuck with 4.2? I can't possibly be the only person this happened to...

What about deleting with TB, or changing properties to r/w in Root Explorer and deleting manually? Then redownload from PS.

You won't be able to what fizzledizzle said because we don't have system permission while booted so neither tibu or root explorer will work it will just reappear when you reboot. What you have to do is remove it using adb while booted into recovery

The new app is now in the play store, so you can remove your flashed one (make sure you have adb and necessary drivers installed):
1) adb reboot recovery
2) adb shell mount -o rw /system
2.5) if that doesn't work run adb shell mount -o rw,remount /system
3) adb shell rm /system/app/Gmail.apk
Now you can install the one from the market, but if you find one you like online make sure the .apk is signed (I'm pretty sure that's your problem).
