ICS emoticons modding - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My main reason for this was to remove the annoying green android face with hearts in his eyes. The one that shows up when you type "<3". Ive tried transparent .PNGs and just deleting the image. Also tried getting some new emoticons in UOT. The only option that worked was the transparent .PNGs, which resulted in just a blank space instead of just showing the simple text heart. Do i need to edit smali in MMS.apk to get rid of the annoying android heart smiley?

[Q] Need help modifying framework-res.apk or twframework-res.apk

Hello, I'm porting a theme from the capti ate forums and for some reason my dropdown notifications have a transparent background and the text is black as well for any popup window like when you long press the homescreen to get widgets, and wallpaper chooser, so i think i need to modify either the framework-res.apk or the twframework-res.apk but don't kno exactly what file to modify to either get the text to white or get a background on those things... if anyone would advice me i'd appreciate it... thanks

Ok I pulled my Settings.apk and started Greying out a bunch of the Icons like I been doing with my SystemUI.apk but I dont know if i keep missing it but I can't find the Icon for the Connect to PC. And also how would I go about changing the blue border at the top of the settings screen and possibly even inverting the white background and black font?
BTW I am running an evo view with HC DeSensed-View Version 1.5
I haven't looked into this one yet on HC but the png should be in drawable-mdpi, ic_settings_connect_pc.png i think. If it's not there it's in framework somewhere. The top bar is in com.htc.resources.apk i believe (search for pngs with "titlebar" and "header" in the name) The background looks to be both a png and possibly a hex color in XML somewhere. And I'm not sure about the text colors yet..
I will be looking at settings, text colors and transparency in HC tomorrow.
ok now for the XML how do I edit that? And I just looked again it guess I already greyed it out but its still in color on my settings...weird I'm going to check framework now
Try looking at the theme links posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19712596&postcount=5

Click to collapse
It's it possible to look at the stock version of Settings.apk from a different device in an attempt to strip out the HTC theming? I don't 100% understand how the whole Sense layer works - does it kind of overlap the stock settings application or does it throw out the stock art assets completely in favor of Sense?

[Q] Question about changing the Notification drawer color.

Well, went forum diving, saw a few methods of trying this, but it doesnt look like swapping PNGs is doing the trick. I'm pretty much trying to invert my systemUI notification drawer background from white to black, and needing to know which xml/smali I need to edit, because like I said above I've tried a PNG swap and it had no effect, so it makes me think there's a static color being forced through xml/smali.

[Q] Transparent notifications in TW JB?

Been trying to figure out what to edit in TW JB StatusUI.apk to make the backgrounds of the actual notifications themselves transparent. Tried editing a bunch of xmls, but I've only found values for the status bar, the notification dropdown background, and the categories and whatnot in the notification dropdown.
I suspect that the files I need to edit are some of the .9.png files in xhdpi, but I've also found that I can't edit or add any 9patch files without causing SystemUI.apk to fail to recompile, so I haven't been able to test those files. Probably just doing something wrong, there, as I've never messed with those files before.
Looking through the GS3 and GN2 question forums hasn't yielded much in the way of answers for this, so I'm just going to ask here. Any ideas?
Edit: This background (from a different phone): http://s15.postimage.org/y8ad3u917/Screenshot_2012_10_03_17_59_49.png
I got my 9patch files working, still can't figure this out. I can make the status bar transparent, the notification dropdown windown transparent, the quick toggles transparent, but I just can't find what actually sets the background for the notifications themselves!
This is seriously causing me a massive headache. I've edited so many png files at this point that I think I'm losing my mind.
Hi there, willl this help?

Anyway I also want to know how did you make the statusbar transparent?
