I had and odd issue with my nadroid backups a few weeks ago, I had issues with the rom I was one, I tried to flash back to a different rom but every time my phone booted it was still on the other rom. I than desided to flash my backup which I've already used weeks proir (so I know it my backup works) but when I tried to flash it I was told "file doesn't exist" or something like that. I than went to root explorer and opened my backup folder...there was zero data within the folder, I was at a lose. My only option at that time was to keep flashing alpha 2, it took 3 flashed (wiping data each time) before my phone was back to normal. Once back on alpha2 I than looked into my backup folder and my data is back. Wicked weird...may not help ya but just another weird backup situation.

Did you upload your backup to drive or dropbox or save it to your PC? I figure worse case I can always move that to my SD and flash.

I flashed CM7 Nightly Build 20 this morning and found out that it messed up my phone, so I odined back to stock, rerooted my phone and reflashed nightly build 17 which had been working on my phone. When I batch restored my missing apps with data (I made sure not to restore system apps) with Titanium Backup Pro it said that it restored everything but a lot of my apps are missing their data. I have tried restoring some of the missing data individually but TB says that it failed each time I try to restore any apps or data that way. Help!
Ur backup is corrupt I think?

I'm worried you might be right. The only reason I have any hope that it isn't corrupt is that I have TB set to store 3 backups and the one before my previous backup used to work fine and now it doesn't. I've tried searching but haven't found a solution yet.
tb does have a verify backup. U have to make sure u use that every once in a while so if it is corrupt u catch it. good luck

That's the weird thing, I made my most recent backup this morning and then verified it and everything said it was fine.
The same thing is happening to me using #22, data restore is not working.
Even for the same rom, if i back an app+data, uninstall it, and the try to restore it i always get "data restore failed"...
Please tell me if you can solve this, i'll do the same
where u getting #22????

I thought it was only me. I get data restore errors on both MIUI and CM7, so I assume it's an error with Titanium Backup since they just released an update today.

maybe because the build 20 cant mount SD
Titanium backup new update... it works now. They messed up with the last one for sure
Thanks for all of your responses. I just downloaded the latest update to TB and I am able to restore once more. Thankfully I now have everything back to normal.
i am new to all this but managed to flash kh3 and root it.
i paid for the pro version of titanium and backed up everything on my galaxy s2 but it backs up to SD. isnt this the internal sd storage and thus would wipe when flashed with another firmware?? i looked into the CWM that came with the firmware but this is just a recovery console isnt it?
i guess i need some guidance of how to properly backup but maybe i want too much. i really was thinking along the lines of a ghost image of everything even things like APN settings etc.
any help appreciated guys.
The sd card isn't wiped when you install any other firmware.
The recovery console has a backup/restore feature, it makes an image of the firmware and software that's installed on the phone.
when i clicked the backup part of cwm it took me to the recovery console where it had factory reset, wipe partition ( or whatever it said) etc etc, i didnt then see it do a backup?
cheers mate

Sounds like you only have Recovery console & not CWM. If you had CWM, you would see tons of options.
I always have a backup of my current ROM in CWM it's absolutely essential in case things go wrong which they have on occasions, i also back up my apps weekly witt Titanium Backup and delete the previous backup.

Which kernel are you using?
kh3 from intratech's thread.
i downloaded rom manger and did the top option to get the latest cwm i think but when i tried to backup it errored and i had to press home to restart??
I just use titanium, backup all my apps to external sd card.
Format phone or install a new rom, and just restore all apps with 1-click via titanium.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what the heck.
I have Titanium backup and it backs up to Dropbox. Now if I Flash a new ROM, how do I go about restoring the backup?
In WinMo I have a backup program that created a zipped up file of backups and a small exe file that unpacked and restored the files (complete restore, ROM upgrade restore, etc).
Should use both!

Batch restore.
Left button at the bottom of your phone > batch
Restore all from there.
If you set your folder location to an external sd card, you can format or install a new rom and your apps wont be touched. You can do a batch restore of all your apps from within titanium.

Combine titanium media sync with titanium backup and you are sorted.
I have set automatic backup once a week, all is then synced via dropbox when i connect my phone on charger. This way I also backup all the pics and videos I take.
One thing I was wondering is there anyway to have titanium and premiere key backed up initself....in the sense that whenever I restore I always have to go to market get the key and the titanium app then started restoring...maybe I could go to my storage install them from there then reinstall instead off faffing with the market?
apologies if this is a silly question
I have the key on my external sd card .

Hi, i have a problem, when i try to back up my phone using titanium backup the phone would freeze and reboot. Also, it starts to do the same after 5 mins or so when i start using the phone. This all happened when i was moving apps around in my apps page. I was able to make a back up using clockwork mod but, when i restore it, it does the same reboot panic. Is there a way to get my important data out of the clockwork recovery? Thanks for any help. BTW i was using chriskelo rom v32 and tried differnt rom's and just used the data part to restore and it still has a reboot panic. Thanks.

here's the thing i can't even back up the files lol. Every time i attempt to back up the files, the phone just does a soft reboot. I may have gotten around this problem i am using mybackup root and i am going to factory reset my phone. I don't know how this happened it just randomly happened out of no where.

ok thanks for the link i will try these points if i can even get on lol.
so i was able to backup my important info using mybackup root and restore it! I have also backed up my apk's using this and it's now ok.
I have unnamed ROM on my phone now. I want to jump into ICS, but I had a question regarding backups.
I have a nandroid backup, I have a MyBackup backup of all my contacts, sms, mms, apps and data, that kind of thing. I have plugged the phone into the PC and physically copied and pasted the entirety of the internal and external memory to my PC.
Is there ANYTHING else I can do to make this as painless as possible? The new ROM will undoubtedly call for a complete wipe and reinstall.
Is there any way to make a bit-by-bit image of the phone before I start, so that if I don't like it or it doesn't work, I can just go back to exactly the way it was before I started? Or am I asking too much?

That's pretty much what a NANDROID backup is as long as it doesn't get corrupted.

that's kind of what I thought, I ran it twice (one to internal one to external) just in case.
Once the phone's charged I'm off to the races I guess.
Might I suggest that you save your NANDROID backups to your computer? That would be a good precautionary step. They are under /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup or something like that.
Have you ever heard of Titanium Backup?
NVM you need nandroid haha
Careful about replacing system data from one rom to another with MyBackup! That stuff doesn't end well.

1.) Copy Nandroid back to your PC along with your Titanium Backup files.
2.) Run the MD5 file through a checker (I use QuickPar) to confirm the backup is not corrupted
3.) Backup your SMS with a market tool of your choosing
4.) Remember your settings and whatnot
5.) Make sure you have any flashable scripts you use availaable to reflash if you're using them on the new ROM.
6.) FLASH new ROM, then use Titanium Backup to install your APPS (not system stuff). Restore your texts, then flash whatever other junk you want back.
7.) ENJOY
Can anyone advice me on what can be done if anything?. I have a S3 LTE Gt-I9305 I installed Titanium Pro and CWM. Did back ups on both and then decided to only keep CWM and promply went on to flash my ROM. It looks like the Ripper ROM has loaded but the touch screen won’t work visually it works fine but to unlock the screen, nothing happens. What could be the cause?. Secondly is there any way to re install titanium back on the phone as I have titanium backup files and hope that will restore the phone back to normal. Any advice???.
CWM & Titanium Back backups are two different things. CWM does a nandroid backup which includes your complete phone setup at the time of backing up. Titanium only backs up apps (user & system) & data.
Hence if you want to return to your old phone's setup you have to use your CWM backup.
Maybe read some of the guides in the FAQ thread to get up to speed on flashing, backups etc. first before you move on!

Thanks!. I know they two different thngs, hence me asking if there is any way of restoring Titanium back onto the phone, as I think the reason the touch screen on my phone may not be working because there could be a system file missing which CWM has not backed up. And CWM won't restore Titanium files or not that I am aware of.

Sure you can restore from Titanium, but I guess a safer bet in your case would be to do a factory wipe and flash a stock ROM. Easier and cleaner way as CWM usually backups any file, would be strange if it misses a few.

Mmm.... Thats the problem I have done a factroy wipe and flashed a stock ROM didn't seem to help. Not even too sure i might have even accsedentally deleted a file from the phone when it was connected to my pc. and without the screen working I don't know that I can re load Titanium as the screen touch pad won't work.

even if you deleted a file, you should be able to flash a stock ROM via Odin in Download Mode (as far as the hardware buttons still work).
If you really flashed a stock ROM already, you could still try to flash your nandroid via CWM (should also support navigation via hardware buttons or not?), and if this doesn't work I am out of options :-/

Is this the right one /data/data/com.android.mms
IIRC it has the option to restore SMS
