Today is preorder day....so who pre-ordered? Im on the preorder page but kinda hesitant to pull the trigger. With all the ICS leaks going on and I'm currently on one I kinda dont feel like upgrading now. We also have some great 2.3.4 roms out. Decision decisions....

Pre-ordered at 9 AM.
IMO, ICS roms aren't really even relevent when it comes to the phone because its just such a huge leap forward from the 3D. The experiance on the 3d is not gonna be comparable.

What is it offer?
0.3 GHZ extra processor power.
8 MP camera, more pixel does necessarily means better camera.
4.7 screen. to me this is too big for a phone.
IMO, it is not worth the ship jump yet.
Haha I was gonna make a thread like this! I ordered mine at 8 right when you were able to

Well thats not really a valid reason right now as there is close to none LTE than Wimax at least for me right now. I don't know how long I'll have to wait for LTE in my area.

LOL, if you think what you just typed is it in a nutshell, then yes you probably should not be upgrading. Insanely better screen, the processor power is not even on the same level. Automatically better battery because of the power management in the chip. Faster GPU, better camera along with a better camera app. Better version of Sense, lighter, faster, less bloat. And if all that isn't enuff it has a freaking kickstand.

Did you get an ETA when it will ship? Usually with Sprint pre-order you get it sooner than release day.

Well seeing that its AT&T who caused that extra step being put in there, not sure how that relates to sprint. The rest of the One X's are all unlocked. Just so happens the model on AT&T ends up locked??? Seems like a carrier decision, and not the first time AT&T has done this.
Does Wirefly allow you to upgrade if you're eligible or is it for new accounts only?

You can upgrade through them. All of that takes place once the phone is available and you pay your money. They verify your upgrade and then you do everything else normally as you would through sprint.

OHH SCNAP!! you guys do great work so the Evo LTE looks like it will be in good hands.
This was my first time calling wirefly. I was on hold with wirefly for 1 hour and spent half hour getting the details of the upgrade price and accessories. Gave them my card number to process and I am available for an upgrade, but when they asked me for my social security number and the them being in the Philippines for them to verify my account with sprint, I have more to loose than saving the $50. I'm going to pre order from sprint and pay the taxes and the $199. Now I'm even thinking of canceling my credit card I gave them.
Has anyone been trough this with them?

Ok. The photon is my favorite Android phone ever out of about 14 android devices but I think I found my next phone. Plus I'm also in Houston where sprint is launching LTE by June 2012. It was fun photon but we're going to have to go separate ways. Its not you, its me..

EDIT: I will see you day one Kennypow3ers!!! I just wonder about battery to power it. I still need specs though!
photon is the best phone I have ever had but there will soon come a day where we must part ways
I honestly don't think this is enough of an upgrade to the Photon.....specially if you have to pay full price for it.
It still has a pentile on it, the processor and gpu are overclocked but are still older, etc.
Personally I'd have to wait for a 720p non-pentile screen, with either Tegra 3 or the new Exynos GPU's Samsung will start putting on the Galaxy S3 line. That would represent a true step up.

I thought their last patch fixed the LOS issue, i am cautiously watching them again, but i have been absolutely thrilled with the build quality of this phone so motorola will get a second shot if they keep up with updates.
When I first heard this this afternoon, I thought "Great, possibly will get this on my second line" but then I remember the un-timely updates, the radio issues.
Besides I love my Photon and it being a world phone is a added bonus.
Although I'll be honest, the Nexus LTE aspect is nice as well as the unlocked bootloader, etc but I wonder if it will be just LTE or LTE/CDMA or a world phone as well.
For now, I'll wait it out till Googlrola comes out with the next super duper Nexus X LTE/CDMA/GSM 2.0Ghz estravaganza.

OK, I have been in an uproar since this was posted. I have searched and read ever thing AGAIN (remember, I was looking at T-Mobile a few weeks back and got depressed!), and here are my thoughts. I will likely get this pre-order, I have the loot, but a few things have to be confirmed..................
5MP Camera? Not a deal breaker as it still shoots true HD.
16Gb Memory (real 16Gb, not 9.XGb Partioned!!)
32Gb MicroSDHC Slot!
RADIO!!!! Lets face it, if calls and internet are jacked, its a total POS!!!
Support - Both Development and Samsung
Battery life - I need 12 hours Min!!!!
Root! - I will need to Root for SetCPU as 1.5GHz will suck the life of above!
Market - ICS for Mobile is not widely supported, YET!
OtterBox Defender - I really love it, so if I bounce............
UNLIMITED!!! - No need to comment here, I like Videos and Movies?
GSM/CDMA - I dont want to be limited to the US!
Just a few of my initial thoughts!

As it seems since it's been a while since the last "what's the next phone to get?" thread...
I've only had this phone for less than a year and I am going to eventually bite the bullet and just pay full price for a new one. While there are some great ROMSs out there (Clean, MIUI, etc.), Frankly, I've never had a more boring phone when it comes to choices sans bugs. Sooo....what's the next Sprint phone to get?? I looked at their website and it seems the same phones I had a choice of getting when I chose the 3D. Anything coming down the pipeline? What would you get?
I'll be hopping on the Nexus bandwagon as soon as they get it. I know it's going to be already "old and outdated" but I think I would still be happy with it.

I will be getting the evo3d2.
Whatever phone I get to replace my 3D hasn't even been announced or rumored yet, so im just waiting and still having fun with my 3D.
I'm not going to jump ship but rather wait to pull up to port to see whats next. I would not even consider another dual core when quad cores are on the way. Next phone will also be LTE compatible.
My next phone will be on sprint and will support LTE on both of springt's frequencies, 800Mhz and 1.9Ghz(I think). Quadcore on 28nm die. 4.5" screen. After seeing what HTC did with the bootloader, I'd like to see a Nexus device on sprint that supports the LTE I'm looking for.
I love my evo3d, running Myns 547 nightly, Anthrax kernel and system tuner to keep the voltage low for great battery usage. As long as people dont chase all the developers away with their complaining, this phone will only get better with all the creative talent here at xda
Hopefully in about a month we will know what the next one is. Hope it's quad core and big

To be honest switching phones right now and extending your contract for a phone of this time is really stupid .

Yeah it's safe to assume that they read into it and took out of it what they wanted. Yes Sprint announced early opening for stores across the U.S. and I haven't cross referenced them with the locations that are getting LTE but I'm sure they probably match up. But that's as far as it goes, it's no conspiracy to release the phone in only certain markets. Those are just the locations that are doing early openings. Their larger stores. They even state to check with your local store to see if they are doing early openings in which I assume most will. They are expecting this to be as huge as the Original Evo launch so they are just making tha fare that goes along with such big launches. Both the Viper and Galaxy Nexus launched in all markets not just markets that were getting LTE first. So the Evo 4G LTE will be no different. Sprint knows people will buy the thing even if they aren't expected to get LTE anytime soon.

please see my previous post. Do not worry. This is not the case. Simply put if this were such a thing, you wouldn't be able to place the order for the phone to begin with. Let's not forget that when you go to Sprint's online store one of the things they require is your zip code. Anways don't worry you'll get your phone soon. Also please see Sprint's Website for more information that refutes that link. They simply took the news release and put their own spin on it. That is how you get clicks afterall.
I still think a lot of these threads that are forming could've just added information to similar threads.
I hope that's BS

Why? Is Mashable.com not reputable?
Ok guys i have been off contract with sprint for like 6 months and I've bought every EVO (Flagships) since the OG. What I exactly is the benefit of buying retail? I remember buying the 3d for $200 like 4 months after release and I bought LTEVO release day for $608 with body glove. The HTCO is an inferior device imo because I know s800 EVO or beast is coming but LTEVO land is pretty much dead. I may be forced to get The One because all the devs are migrating there... So I'm stuck.
***I Just Woke Up... Tell Me Where The Drugs At***
Not dead here man. Not everyone is bouncing to the One. HTCO is not inferior cause s800 won't be out until the end of the year, probably the Verizon "One" will get it but not Sprint, ATT and T-Mo. Sprint lets you upgrade every 18 months nowadays, not as good as 1 yr with Premier but still better than 22 months like the competition.

I hate when people make comments like that when their only contrbutions are discussion and picture posting threads..

Well maybe dead was too strong, but idk... I just don't have the motivation. Since Virus left and now Mikey I'm just sitting on Viper. The Sense 5 looks nice, but I rarely flash ports. CMX and all the others AOSP roms are nice... PAC has my interest most, but sound quality kept me from CMX.1 again. I can't stand not having the latest and greatest either. I want the One, but S600 just can't compare with the big beasts like T4 and S800 eventho they aren't released.
Could someone tell me the benefit of buying retail tho?
FYI... I may not have contributed much to android, but I'm a recognized Dev/Hacker elsewhere. Lets not forget transcendent mugen GOD

I dont see a benefit. If youre gonna be with sprint for the next two years i say take the subsidized price and sign the contract. You can always cancel later and pay the etf and youll still save $100+.

Yeah youd lose both. But if you sign right back up with them im not sure if you could just get the number back or if it goes into a hold state for an amount of time. Idk. Im sayin if youre gonna be with sprint for the forseeable future why not just get the discounted phone. Do you plan on jumping to att, verizon, or tmobile? You can always buy retail while youre on contract so why not take the contract and get a phone cheaper if youre gonna stay with sprint anyway.

port the number to another carrier before you cancel, that way you don't lose your number

I see no benefit to buying retail. I'm not even gonna comment on "dead" forum.
Maybe T-Mobile might be worth looking at if they have decent coverage in your area. You can get the HTCO for $100 without signing up for 2 years . I know you pay $20 a month but still seems like a good deal .
Regarding S800. I'm sure its a beast but how much more computing power do you need when you look at the ONE's benchmarks. 12k on quadrant or something ridiculous like that
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Does it really matter that the s800 or whatever has better specs? Android)/apps won't be optimized to use it for a long time and its not like you're going to be compiling code on your phone.

The reason I don't want to be on contract is just because how this economy is... Yes I work a good job now, but what happens if I fall on hard times and can't afford the bill? I don't want to be in debt because sprint 4g blankets my house.

If your LTE works why not keep it for another year? That would be the least risky thing to do

I just can't be on a device with dated hardware lol. Seeing as how the One is a qual device... Its sure to get s-off, so I may wait a month or two and get it on craigslist

So here's the guy who's been "bragging", ' I buy off contract', going, "wait, maybe that wasn't smart'? ?
Am I missing something?

Just was evaluating plans on T-Mobile etc and thought about my last decisions regarding phones. I don't think I'm really saving anything with Sprint . 4G in my area is good, 3G still blows, but I kinda feel like it'd be a mistake to shell out $700 this time.

When I click on the "view your order" link I got in my email from HTC, it shows that the phone will be shipped and delivered on 4/9. I did pay the eighteen bucks for same day shipping. What are your estimated delivery dates? And are you a psyched as I am to (possibly) get it early.

Pictures? This makes me tempted to order one if it comes in this quick.

Mine says that too and I ordered the 32GB Unlocked version, but according to the other HTC One M7 Section, someone talked on the phone with a rep and they said that it was a placeholder date. All phones release on the 18th unfortunately.
Aww That is a bummer. THEY CAN'T TOY WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THIS!!! :crying:
Seriously I almost ordered one based off this thread lol. I hate waiting!
That's just the LetsTalk system. It's not actually going to ship until the 18th/19th.

Nobody actually knows this for sure. It may very well ship Monday, it says so. That section is there for a reason, to tell you the ship date. Yes it could be a screw up but maybe not. This wouldn't be the first time that phoning a rep resulted in wrong info..
I'm being an optimist here because mine says the same thing lol. I just canceled my ATT pre-order because i'm afraid bootloader wont be unlockable like the OG ATT One X.

Maybe they are shipping to the US monday with the thought that they will arrive around the 15th-18th. What shipping option did you select?
It is possible that those of us that payed for next day shipping will get the device early. It wouldn't be the first time a device has fallen into the hands of customers before the official release date. HTC wouldn't have anything to lose, shipping the Dev edition early would just build hype for the phone anyway. I'm just sitting here praying I'm right..
will the unlocked version make rooting the locked version easier ?

Probably not cheezy. Why? because no hacks involved to unlock the dev version, they arent needed. Thats why its a dev version. Hopefully ATT will allow it and it wont have to be h4xed.
If you want the developer edition, it seems the forum you will be using mostly is the Internation/main forum.

Well its been recently discovered that the at&t/developer/international editions all have interchangeable ROMs
Its the CDMA variant that is the oddball

If they are using standard FedEX/UPS ground and shipping from one of the major hubs (Kentucky or Tennessee) then that's only a easy 2-4 day trip to anywhere in the states. I doubt they are doing this...phone would be there way before the 15th

It's probably not a major difference minus Ril configs for CDMA.

iPhone users go through the same thing when a new phone launches. Shipping dates are all over the place but all ship pretty much the day before public release.

That's a pretty major difference if you're talking about porting ROMs from CDMA to gsm and vise versa
Seen it plenty of times before, its always the last thing fixed on CDMA phones. At least the HTC ones
It may be different with this phone since the hardware from each other is nearly identical, but I wouldn't get anyone's hopes up

Nah think about the nexus s. The nexus s and nexus s 4g were separated by about 3 files. The sgs3 series uses mostly the same files. There will likely be a patch that can flash all the needed ones.
