Hi
I just flashed the newest leak ICS UCLD3. The new release seems to be smoother than the ICS UCLC5 leak but now I'm constantly getting a message..
"AT&T Software update...Communication failed" Is there a way to stop this action from constantly trying to communicate w/ the AT&T servers?
Thanks in advance for you help.
Tom
i think if u change ur date and time to a couple years in the future, then try to run the software update, then revert back to the original date and time u will be fine since its not suppose to check more then once every 24hrs. or u can do a factory reset and see if that helps

Thanks for the quick reply. I was about to go back to GB.
One more question if I may...The dialer lag is getting to me. Only happens in ICS both UCLC5 and UCLD3 but not in GB. Any options other than to dl a dialer app from the market?
Thanks again for all your help!!!!

I flashed DaGra8s AOSP App kit. It gets you AOSP dialer, Messaging, Calendar, and Contacts. They look and function better and are much faster than the Samsung apps.

Hi.. Just installed the update 4.1.A.0.562 on my Ray.. Officially, through update service..
Although all those exciting things are missing, like the People app, zero shutter lag in camera, and many other visual related stuff..
I mean, its all shown on the official page...
Anyways, I'm a rooter!! Any place where i can find these additions? Especially the People app..

I'm dying to get my hands on it..
Wonderful i too need to know! Hope someone replies soon!!!
Also no Nova Launcher....... (thats what its called on the Market..)
I guess all these are available on Android 4.0.4... I need the apks...
Camera...could that be dependable of the hardware also?
Other than that, SE has made quite a lots of modifications there, to keep their Timescape UI the most important one there.
Ok!! I got a Nexus ROM which has the required contacts.apk...
Now, i just need to know, how do i install it? Like, i know, its meant to be pushed.. but what are the other apps that need to be pushed along with it? ContactsProvider.apk or something?
Zero shater lag is hardware related . Not getting it with update
And u can't install people app
You should get an aosp or cm9 rom
DOes CM9 have the people app? Frankly, thats the only one i'm after...
camera? no problem..
Hi All,
I've been a long time Android tablet user, and after many years of BlackBerry use, I've finally made the switch to a Rogers Galaxy Note i717. I'm loving the LTE speeds, but am growing tired of Gingerbread. I've rooted and installed CWM, but as I haven't had much experience with Android on a phone, I was wondering what ROM you guys would recommend for use on the Rogers network (I've read that some are better than others in that regard)
Cheers
Ryan
I also have a rogers i717 Galaxy Note, which I also got tired of the Gingerbread OS.
I personally flashed the Hybrid ROM, but using only the phone side of the ROM since it is more stable. I like the Hybrid because the native tethering works fine on it and I had trouble with the tether fixes on other ROMs. The only thing is that you have to toggle the hotspot from the toggle menu.
As for the launcher, I did download the new Touchwiz UX from the Galaxy S3, but eventually moved to install the Nova Launcher which works better in landscape.
One annoying thing is that you may get errors like "Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" which means that some apps are getting installed on your SDCard which you need to move back onto the phone. Took me awhile to find a solution for that... but moving the apps back to phone fixed the issue flawlessly.

Under the lock, ftw
Please reread the rules. Pay close attention to the one that says search before opening a new thread.
Had you done so you would no there is no "Best Rom". Each rom will work differently depending on your device and how you use it.

Hi guys...I'm from the GT-I9100G forum......I'm running the latest cm9 on my phone...
Ok, back to my topic...When updating apps, it only downloads for a few percent as shown in Play Store...

}
But in my notifications drawer, it fills up very fast and the update is completed in a short while...faster then expected...but my apps still get updated magically!
It has been like this for many times...tried searching butI don't know what to search for...lol...so anyone else aware about this? My hypothesis is that Play Store only downloads the necessary files to 'patch' the existing apks...Is this possible?
Yes, you are right, actually. The Play Store now only downloads new content for each app, instead of downloading the entire app over again. Makes sense, especially for larger apps, like Death Rally, which is a 50MB initial download. VERY useful update for people who spend a lot of time on their mobile networks (not everybody has 4G or 4G LTE service available, or phones with those capabilities).
I noticed this behavior on my phone, and coincidentally read it online the next day on a random news post.
Wow...great feature......still remember the title of the news?kinda interested...

I flashed this ROM yesterday and so far everything has been working great except for one little detail. A few applications are being stretched off the screen. The two I've noticed this on so far are the ROM OTA Updater and the market app Fishing Superstars.
I tried completely wiping everything and reflashing the ROM several times but it's never made any difference. I'm starting to get frustrated and considering trying another ROM (but I like everything else about this one). Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?
Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about. I can't get the OTA Updater to come back up but it cuts off the "Accept" button so I can't ever do any OTA updates =/

What Rom are you using? The dpi maynot be set correctly for that app. It's more than likely a Rom issue.

I'm using SOS M | VER 2.6.1 found here. For reference, here is what the OTA updater (included in that ROM) looks like when I try to apply the ROM update.
179, chaimio
Anyone have any idea? I'd post this in the actual ROM thread but I don't have 10 posts yet =/
I am positively shocked this is not a larger issue. With the removal of the always listening options for Google Now this devices overall appeal has been greatly limited based kmy needs.
Does anyone in the community know why these features were removed or have any idea on if/when they will return?
with the newest version it's there if you put the widget on homescreen

I have everything up to date including google play services and have placed the widget on the home screen but am still only seeing 1 option. Which is to allow "OK Google" from the app.

That's not the same thing at all. For starters it takes a whole row of icons. Also it will only work when you are on that specific screen. It won't work if you have an app open and most importantly it doesn't work when the screen is off.
This certainly isn't a hardware limitation, but I think Samsung did this to get users to try the new (and greatly improved s voice). I bet their plan is to bring back Google always on detection in a later update after many people try out s voice.
Anyways in the meantime check out s voice, you might be pleasantly surprised.
I know..but all Samsung phones even nexus had have problems with that actual
