Just a few days back i purchased a launcher called "LSense" ,by developer called LSC, from play store & now i can't see it on play-store anymore !!
Moreover it's a protected app & so whenever i change my handset i will not be able to get it on the new handset as it has disappeared from the store !!
Anyone who has access to this dev , how can we trust any dev on the store from now on !!
Edit .. It seems i have put this thread in a wrong section , mods please be lenient & put it where it should be !! I am really apologetic if i have posted in a wrong section !!
Might be that it's no longer compatible with your phone. Try using the website to search. If it really is gone just grab the apk from your current phone.
Tapatalked.
it was launcher pro mod? wasn't it? if it was you will never have any nwo version, just keep apk that you have from market
Nope Lsense was real launcher with some real sense widgets...
Nope it was a modded version of Launcher Pro(free) and with some addtional widgets. It was removed from the market cause they were re-selling the free app.
It was also uploaded by the developer on xda but after some time, the mod deleted/closed the thread because of the same thing.
If this would be allowed then I would have modded apex launcher to "adadaasdasd" launcher and sold on the market
that's sad
Entire episode is extremely sad but the point is that the app is "protected" & my handset is not rooted & hence i am unable to take a backup of the .apk (this app doesn't show in the backup folder of appmonster) !!
Any feasible solution to this guys , i am really banking on your expertise !!
Titanium backup
*Sorry* Wrong post..

After hearing that it was basically a stolen app to begin with...why would you be concerned with using it anymore?
Just cut your losses and know you got taken. Try messaging the Google market and see if they will refund the money to you. Explain the entire situation to them.

I think titanium backup works only with rooted devices !!
@ cwhitney24 .... It's not the matter of losses but i really like the launcher (the way it looks & behaves very smoothly) & hence the concern ... I really hate the entire plan (whosoever is responsible) of modifying a free launcher & selling it (absolutely immoral) but i hope you do understand my concern !!
A testament to why every android user should have root. If you don't have root, it's not truly YOUR device. And if you had root, you could just pull the apk from /data/app.

@ scottspa74 .... I had previously a SGS Plus i9001 which i got rooted but i hear that rooting results in warranty termination & hence i decided not to root my SGS II i9100G !!

No I still do not understand. Do some searching and you will learn how to mod apks for yourself. Then you can theme a launcher for your own personal needs...and you don't even need root to do so.
Theming something for yourself is very rewarding and fun as Hell. I bet you, atleast I would hope, would feel a lot better using it if you made it knowing it wasnt benifiting someone else who stole someone else's work for profit.
I got your 10char right here
Buy launcher pro and get the sense dock and icons. Best solution. Because honestly the app you bought was an already themed version of launcher pro.

Im suspicious of things you can buy jenga for 10p today but i can't understand why it wants phone call permissions? Why would a game want to know my phone number and call status? I can't think of a single reason, is there one?

Might have to do with this:
In Android Market Jenga Goto News Tab --> in "What new in this version":
"CHAT"
"Send a text message to your opponent with each move in an Online game"
Fair enough, i would just use the internet, not sure my what partner would need my phone number. Plenty of games use the internet without needing to know who im currently phoning, i think I'll leave this one!

Android apps that have silly requests for permissions is the worst aspect of Android.
I rooted and installed lbe security which allows me to block some permissions after the install.and asks with a pop up for requests at other times.
You have reason to be suspicious.
Good reason.
But most of it is just collected and used to better advertise to you.

I agree,
you have to be suspicious.
Even better than LBE (and the best if combined) is CyanogenMod with the possibility to block ALL the permissions (have to consider which you block btw => FC's)
But games want to know your phone status to be able to pause when a call is coming in, I guess... Not sure though.

Ah will try that nut pants!

just root your phone and download denied permissions
How is an app that has automated settings for denied permissions going to help ME understand wich permissions i can block.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
The same goes with me...
You can block anything that a phone may not support (any developer that makes an app that crashes because you have no internet should not bee installed)
I remove everything I don't like (which is everything) and bring back what I'm willing to allow if it FC's.
Google needs to have developers give full reasons for required permissions.some developers already do that, they are the ones I support.other I email to ask and i am fully willing to rate badly if no response.
Some one should start a Android full disclosure group to work together to get the info every one wants.
And get start up control (or something like that) you would not believe how many apps fire up when you get a text or change your network connectivity.
If any one knows of a Android security website or forum post it here.I have not found one worth reading.
You suggestion seems like it could benifit loads of people. It seems like you already have a good grasp what 2 ask the developers for. Maybe you can make up an format for me and others who are willing to email devs to get some awnsers.

I've had my i9100 for 5 months and just rooted last month. Before that I was on windows mobile, after10 years using a wm phone I bailed on ms forever because of all the unacceptable "features"of windows phone. I believe in security and being anonymous as possible to big corporate interests.Android being open source was my only choice as apple is closed and militant about it, even more so than Ms. (and imagine my horror to see all the permissions on my phone)
But to be honest I know much more about what I don't like than I know how to fix it.
I do know that Google makes more money from advertising and knowing the actions and preferences of its users than any other company in history.the app developers make as much money or more from advertising than from selling their apps.and in sure some make money by learning what you like and don't.
And almost none of them will abandon that source of cash.
When ics is out and ready for my device I will go to cm9ics and it's security options built in the kernel.
I hope some one builds a locked down Android that randomly fakes all the privacy questionable permissions so all apps work.but I don't think that will ever happen. None of the big movers in the phone market want that.
As for finding out why a developer asks for a permission just mail them and ask.if you don't like the answer uninstall and rate it why you removed it.
some times permissions are there for options that you may love like your keyboard needing your contact list so it can spell your friends names. But is there really a reason for that keyboard to have internet access?
Carrier IQ brought into the open just what your phone might do with it you knowing.sadly most phones don't need an extra app to monitor your every move.
Don't even get me started on the"cloud" and all the bad things it represents.
as I learn more I'll share more but right now I feel like a very big man in a very small boat fishing for information in a very big sea.
Good luck out there
I totally understand your feelings. And agree on most of it. I wrote an essay about digital privacy a few years back. The thing is i know my every digital move is being monitered and stored. I think your best option is to build a cutom rom .. maybe 1 wich feed the apps with bogus information. That way you can get the apps you like help the developers get random data/ advertising revenue and stay anonimous.

Here you find some sometimes ..

there was an app that kill wifi for all other devices on the network, and it was abandon from the market ..
There are loads of apps outside of the google store, and well the XS has a few stores of its own built in from sony.
But as for good apps, swype from http://www.swype.com/
Its the keyboard from the Samsung galaxy S series and once you swype you never go back. It takes a little getting used to but it is so much easier / faster / accurate to use!
It was one of the first things I tried on my XS and was so glad that it worked straight off.

Your S has Swype built into the default keyboard.
I didn't notice the default keyboard had support for 'gesture inputs' as they put it as the phone didn't mention it and I don't think I read it in any review either.
I shall give the default keyboard another whirl then and see which one I prefer
This is freaking awesome. I didn't know it was built in by default. I was using the Chinese keyboard and switching it to English.
Thank you guys!

There's several threads on this. You can delete them (use Titanium Backup to delete the apps) but you can't change or add new ones.
But the real answer is: You're on XDA; root and install ICS or a custom ROM; problem solved. If you just want stock, go to an android enthusiast forum.

Is it a case of either dealing with it, or just changing ROM? I like touchwiz and would love to keep it, I just want to change the icons (though from reading that's impossible)?

As in I like the app draw itself, I just don't like the presets, though I guess they won't ever be able to be changed unless Samsung releases the source code.
Never mind! Its no biggie, just weird that they wouldn't add customzation with such a primary feature.
nearly total noob here.
I got a Huawei Valiant, rooted and with CWM flashed.
I have been compiling files to produce various ROMS; one ROM with only original Huawei apks, one with all the bloat stripped out, and one with all the elite cool hacking goodies.
While I am able to easily tweak my ROM on-device, I am unsure about how to take one of my back ups and make it a distributable ROM without any personal data.
I have tried to search, but to be honest this site doesnt seem to like my phone one bit.
Thanks in advance!
No responses???
I'm really wondering whats the point.
79 views. 3 are me. And no one who read is interested or helpful?
Oh well, I guess no one out there cares.
Update:
I think I can take a nandroid backup and morph it to a proper ROM release. Still trying to figure it out. IMG, tar, etc format issues.
Have one backup of non-user data that is Huawei branded 100%. Huawei apps plus AOSP apps.
Runs smooth.
Got another wannabe ROM, Tor integrated as system app. All data is proxied around the world. All ad networks disabled through Hosts. This 'ROM' also has a bit torrent client, RDP/VNC, WiFi Scanner/Diagnostics, and 4 browsers. Also has working tether and ROOT. Primarily for my job use.
The last wannabe 'ROM' I'm working on is a completely stripped ROM. Having problems getting all the Google gone.
I could desperately use knowledgable brains.
Please reply even if you can't help. It is a LOT of work, and it looks like no one else cares... and it is too damn hard to read hundreds of half-dead threads for help.

Good Stuff!!
Looking for Custom Rom for Huawei Valiant as well. Got it cheap from MetroPCS
Please keep us updated.
Well, after a hard drive crash and a few soft bricks... I think I'll start by posting individual steps for individual programs/installations...
As a brief example:
Windowed Apps on the Free
Be rooted (I used impactor by sauric)
Use Xposed framework from here.
Xhalofloatingwindows. Install it.
Here's how to set it up
Blah
Blah
And then install this app, holoshortcut. The open source one works great to make shortcuts to existing apps that run in windowed mode.
Make sure the apps are not running when you click the windowed icon, else the original full screen app loads (force stop Browser then click the new shortcut so it loads windowed)
Running the non windowed shortcut resets the app to children until you force stop it and run it from the new icon.
There's also blah blah to make a blah blah etc.
Interested in that infos?

I'm sorry I can't offer any help im just aNOOB myself and was inquiring for a custom ROM with a custom theme (pink) possibly, and came up on ur post, I have a little trouble understanding the whole process but I'm learning and even though I can't offer any assistance to you I think your work on this project is highly un-appreciated and over-looked. You deserve a response from someone knowledgeable and as dedicated ad yourself. I have a Huawei Valiant and I rooted with the same method was excited to install a custom ROM but as you noticed there isn't much to work with and unfortunately I'm not as educated in this area as you are. I hope u find some help and if so send some my way......thanks
How did you root your device? I just got my Valiant and need to root it to get all this bloat off, theme & mod it and get my audio back up to par with V4 A, which requires root.

I totally agree.I suggest in many forums from various devs to make either a fb magisk module, either a modded app, either to add option to their custom fb app to have option to see feeds ONLY photos from our friends.FB has became as you said an advertising place.Algorithm also has changed to a way that you don't see friends photos, just pages feeds. It has became so boring..
