Resizing widgets!!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is there any way to resize any widget without having to install a launcher. A tweak of some sort?
Sent from my Galaxy Note like a boss!

I am interessed to. Maybe with ICS..

App developers don't give much love for 5 x 1, .... 5 x 5 widgets. how come?

Once more 5" devices come into play there will be more "love" for bigger widgets. For now use a custom launcher if you want widgets to fit properly.

I know this. Was just wondering if there was a dev who has a gnote and knows if a tweak like this is possible?

Thanks for your reply. I'm just surprised that app devs don't take advantage of this.... Whoever does it first will get Note users switching to them perhaps... is that hard for them to do.

am just curious why even run the stock launcher?....adw ex is blazing fast and so many options,,, why do you like stock?...

I personally like stock launcher because of S Memo widget. I like to handwrite on SMemo for my task for the day and just cross them off just like I do in real memo pad. I deploy about 3-5 SMemo widget on my launcher.
This is the main reason I switched from iphone to galaxy note. So far I'm loving this feature a lot and it's hard for me to let it go.
Just wondering does adw ex allow SMemo widget? If not, is there other app like SMemo perhaps I can use in adw ex similarly? I'd love to try.

As much as I like Vanilla savor, I would also enjoy TW launcher if it had more features like rezising widgets and scrolling widgets. The launcher is pretty and there's absolute no lag!

whats wrong with using Go Launcher? 7 X 7 is pretty sexy.

Oh my God. I checked it out last night and this launcher rocks. I am very impressed.
Yes indeed it does everything stock launcher can do for my specific needs plus more customization..
Thanks a lot this is such a nice treat before official ICS arrival.

ADW or LauncherPro for MT4G?

Both launchers are great IMO, but I've usually leaned toward LauncherPro. I haven't installed either on my MT4G, and am curious to know what other MT4G owners prefer to run on their phone (after rooting, of course).

adw launcher all the way.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/fluxed-adw-theme/com.asimonds.fluxed
with that adw.theme.
[i bought adw.notifier too]
then put on something with a black wallpaper=ooommmggg
speed+eye candy
I just tried both and ADW is slow as a dog on my phone. LauncherPro flies faster than I remember it running on my old MT3G, but sadly I can't install/use any of the HTCSense widgets (most importantly the weather/clock one).
Keep HTCSense or LauncherPro? Hmmm.
I have been using LauncherPro Plus for over a week now. Decided to try ADW today. Although there are definitely some more customization options on ADW theme wise, LPP seems to run faster and more consistent. I will be sticking to LPP.
Also, the old version of fancy widget or the paid beautiful widget app can replace the sense ui weather/clock.

LPP all the way, by far the best. Get beautiful widgets if you want the sense style clock and the LPP widgets are just as good as the sense widgets.

same here... I love Launcher Pro and have been using Beautiful Widgets since they came back after the C&D from HTC, between the speed of Launcher Pro (not to mention the 2 extra launcher bars) and the customization of Beautiful Widgets you can't go wrong.
LPP! i love how fast it is and the widgets are amazing! the ability to also resize a widget on the fly is wondering
I tend to use Launcher Pro Plus more than ADW but both are excellent.
Used to go back and forth between these 2 before lpp. the widgets just put it a step ahead, 4 me. both are good though
Launcher Pro with translucent widgets is the best!
what do you all mean by "fast"?
like the scrolling speeds?

lp for me is the best also ...... its fast is clean and its smooth i got the regular one not the paid one......

I love LP but im using ADW now and i havent seen any slowdowns at all and i like the themes, maybe since its newer to me im digging it more now, i been using launcher pro since it first came out
yea both are great launchers and i have been using LPP since it came out too but lately ive been using ADW since it has many different themes and with the TeamSilence Iced Galcier Rom V1.0 and the Gr8Gorilla 1.7 Ghz OC, ADW doesnt lag at all... so it gives me speed and extreme customization too IMO... my suggestion is download both then see which one suits your needs...
+1 for LPP. I love the calendar widget and the dock with the glass background.
First time trying to use launcher pro, downloaded it from Market and can not find it any where. Went into my app drawer and t isn't there, checked settings ect. and isn't there either. What the heck am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Didn't think I was that much of a knuckle head but obviously I am.

Click your home button. You should have an option to launch HTC Sense or Launcher Pro.
Click Launcher Pro and now you're using that as your home launcher. If you click on the Menu button from home, you'll now see a Preferences selection. That's how you can customize Launcher Pro.
If you decide you like it, when you click the home button, make sure you check the box to make it your default launcher.

[Q] What is the best launcher?

I want to know what the best launcher is in terms of uniqueness and not just speed. I want a launcher that is different from other launchers and has actually been well thought out. Thank you.
Personal favourite
I quite like Launcher Pro - lots of icon packs and easy to customise! Can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Only issue is that it hasn't been updated for a while
If you want custom themes without having to pay for Launcher Pro Plus, then try GoLauncher - not a personal favourite of mine but is again very customisable and does pack in a few unique features.
I used to use Zedge for pure speed, but it was a bit limited customisation-wise and I overclocked my phone, so I didn't need a really fast launcher any more
i tryed many launchers...but Launcher Pro is the best choice for me...so i stick with it a long time now
deff Launcher Pro You can do what ever you want
<Mod Edit> External link!
i like launcher pro & go launcher too
I use Launcher Pro too... even I uninstall/erase other launchers.

Yes. I had also tried it. not very good. Instead ended up using Go Launcher Ex with ICS theme.
I just got ADW Launcher EX the other day from the 10c app promotions per day google is doing and i'm loving it so far.. lots of new features compared to the free version
Might be a good idea for people to keep watch incase it goes up for 10c again.. few days left of apps
Try this 360 launcher. Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345601 pretty smooth, not bad so far.

Yea 360 launcher is awesome. Just never have seen these app drawer animations in any other launcher. very nice and very smooth. And the themes are good looking too
Edit: I just noticed that there is a lockscreen setting in its preferences using which we can have a variety of lockscreens too. And there are lockscreens available for download within the app itself.
This is f**king awesome
Only 3 lockscreens are available. But all 3 are good especially The iPhone lock screen and ics lock screen are looking great

Apex launcher is the best. If your phone is rooted than you can use Titanium backup pro to convert the Apex Launcher apk to the SYSTEM APP and it will work perfectly fine and faster...

Used since ICS Nova for my old S1 and for my new S3. Changed some weeks ago for TSF Shell.. Costs around ten bucks I think, but has several nice features (I love the folder option) and works flawlessy on S3 with livewallpaper. Doesn't suck so much battery as thought...
Personally I like the AOSP Launcher
The CM10 Trebuchet Launcher
Apex & Nova
As for TouchWizz the launcher isn't the problem, it's the ridiculous amount of crap that comes with it that slows down the device, well that and I can't move the Menu button to the middle like Stock Jelly Bean
But to be honest it's all down to personal taste, I prefer the Google Experience cause I use most of their apps, I have 0 time for the Samsung experience stuff. I mean seriously S-Voice over Google Now
For now i use Nova Prime. But from what little i have used TW in JB roms i will be using TW when official rom comes out.
But in the end it is all up to you!

How's sense compared to other skins?

So I'm still debating whether I want this phone or not. I currently own a galaxy nexus and I must say I like stock a lot. Ive never had sense and I wonder how it is compared to stock. I played with it at the store but I don't think it's enough to determine whether to purchase or not. I hate touch wiz and the moto skin but to me sense has always looked nice. Is it clunky or cluttered compared to stock ? Does the skin make the phone lag at all? Just some information about it would be nice since everywhere I read says it's ugly or bad.

You hate moto skin ? The new one looks great on the razr m... Ok but to your question the sense skin is simply beautiful. They really took the time out to make it look great and the gpu can definitly handle it well. Keyboard sucks tho. And i wish they incorporated true mulittasking lioe touchwiz and lg ui did... One thing you will hate is that sense isnt optimized for the big display so luch homescreen and app drawer is wasted. This can be fixed by using nova or any other launcher.

Sense is fine and it runs fine on the DNA, it's not as intrusive as Touchwiz and it's not as simple as untouched Android. However that's exactly why I don't really like it. With my Nexus phone I get to experience the real android that I know and love. I get updates quick and I get to enjoy watching Android get better and better.
With my Samsung devices I know that I can't expect to get the latest from Google but I actually really like touchwiz for a lot of it's own things. Before the DNA I had the S III for a while and I loved certain functions like swiping with my palm to take a screenshot or putting the phone to my ear while texting someone to call that person. I loved being able to easily play a video on a corner while texting someone or just checking anything real quick. Touchwiz in my opinion manages to feel like a completely different experience.
With the Droid DNA, it feels like I'm just using a nicer looking version of original Android but without some of the nice things like swiping from my camera app to see the gallery right away and flick away pictures I didn't like. Not saying this is a bad thing, I'm sure plenty of people absolutely love that. Personally, i think it's lacking, but I still think the phone is amazing, I'll probably end up getting rid of my Nexus for a Note 2 and then adding some nice rom on this one to make it look Nexus...ish.

I personally love HTC Sense. However I have come to love the stock android experience.
Ive used sense from OG EVO, Evo LTE, and now DNA. Sense does some pretty cool things and its VERY polished. On the DNA there is no lag and thanks to the 2GB or ram i wouldnt worry at all about it. Ive never had a single issue with it. Its really organized and easy to find what you are looking for. I would say that its the most complete android OEM launcher. Icons are very polished same goes for apps and widgets. I really dont get why people dont like it... whats not to love about it? sure stock is wonderful but sense is just as good if not better.
Someone else mentioned multitasking windows. a side note to that... its only supported by a few samsung devices running crapwiz and its very under developed. Not even avail. to US devices (without root, please correct me if im wrong on this, i dont want to mislead anyone)
I would say Sense kinda ruined the rest of android launcher experiences due to the fact that Its just really that good. I dare you to give it a whole hearted run through and tell me that it just isnt all that... go ahead try it.

Those are just the widgets though, Sense is much more then the widgets. For example, you have all the great sharing options, the cool animations, lock screen widgets, and all the widgets you mentioned still have their apps you can open. So no, you don't lose sense just by switching launchers, you lose just the nice widgets, and you can find replacements for most of them in the play store. :good:

The Sense seems like an alternative launcher, where as the Touchwiz makes itself seem like a different OS entirely, due to all the Touchwiz gimmicks integrated through out the system.
I honestly love the Sense UI. I've used it since my Incredible, and every custom ROM I've put on that and my Rezound has had Sense. I don't find that it negatively affects performance in any way, and (for me at least) it greatly enhances the user experience. I was helping my girlfriend set up her new Asus Transformer Tablet running stock 4.1 Jellybean, and also her mom's new SIII, and the lack of widgets and functionality from Sense that I've now taken for granted was seriously bothering me. Plus, Sense is pretty

My two faves are Next3D and Nova. I bought Next3D when they had a 50% off sale about 8 months ago, but I've been using Nova more and more because...it just works great. No redraws, small memory foot print. I made the mistake and bought SPB Shell 3D back in June '12, and it's pretty much abandonware ($15 bucks). Yes, I could get the Yandex Shell for free which is a direct clone of it, but it has too many limitation, it's a memory and battery hog and redraws way too often.

well tsf shell is what I would consider the most "different" but definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
since its expensive, next is not bloated like GO thank god (HATE go lol) but it does take some tweaking to make it look nice (I like a clean holo-ish theme), fortunately because it is from the go dev team, it has a lot of theming support.
I would describe it as having all the customibility features apex or nova have but with the coolest animations and widgets I've personally seen.
best thing I can tell you is to go on YouTube and look at launcher reviews before you go spending money on anything.

I have tried a bunch too...even some of the new school ones like Buzz and everything Me...always come back to holo HD. 10x10 grid...hiding apps from the drawer, tabs and great gestures. Maybe one freeze every 2 months. Very solid.
