Dear all,
I have some issues with my LG OO and stock rom 2.3.
There are many threads about improving GPS but they are all related to aGPS. I don't use the mobile connection for the fix, only predownload GPS data via GPS status, so all those fixes about time servers do not apply.
I have the following issues:
1) Sometimes about 10 stallites are found and also fixed within seconds but still, the phone will not get a GPS fix, never, no matter how long I wait. This can be fixed by disabling and enabling the GPS via the status bar button. Then the GPS is fixed within seconds. Anybody has an idea why this happens? Why is there no fix although I have perfect reception.
2) GPS fix is present but suddenly, the GPS icon will disappear from the status bar and no app will receive any GPS data. This is also fixed by disabling and enabling GPS via the status bar button.
Those issues are specially annoying when using background services because in that case you rely on a stable GPS connection.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
DevDan

Hello all!
Since yesterday, when I updated the firmware of my phone, the GPS icon has been shown constantly in the notification bar. It did not use to happen before. I am afraid it might be draining more battery than needed but I don't want to turn off GPS completely as I wanted it to be "ready to use" whenever I need to use, for example, Google Maps.
Is there something I can do? How can I control which app's might be using GPS connection in every moment?
Thank you!
+1
Every once in a while I see the GPS icon light up for a couple of seconds without apparent reason. I have no auto geo locating widget or so running, which might be an obvious guess.
Edit: just noticed I had weather information enabled on the lock screen so that may be the cause.
Hello, everybody!
Please, advice on my problem. After some uptime, my WT19i starts having trouble with GPS. When I turn on some application, e.g. navigation, maps or even GPS status, it asks to activate GPS, and after activation doesn't start to search it. I went through the internet, and found problems, when GPS was locking very long time, but in my case it doesn't locks at all, even GPS icon don't flash in notification bar. GPS status and other kind of apps don't help. GPS starts working normally as soon as I reboot my phone. I'm using CyanogenMod 9.1
Thanks in advance!
I flashed 4.4.4 via flashtool and my gps has not worked since. GPS status app is reporting 0 gps satellites in view
I have high accuracy mode enabled in Location settings. Any idea what's going wrong? How do I reset this thing back to working?

Try one of the fastgps tools that sets the time server for the gps
Solved!
So the solution was to wipe AGPS log, then use "AndroiTS GPS Test" app to get a GPS lock(For some reason a lot of gps apps fail to keep GPS on while in background in 4.4.4). I also had to charge the phone sufficiently leave it in an empty space for about 4hours for it to get a lock. Once it got a lock, it can reestablish gps fairly snappily.
Reseting, Redownloading AGPS without the 4hour lock did nothing.
Just recently, my Alpha 850M has a problem with "Searching using GPS" every time the GPS is turned on. I've tried tightening screws in the back but that didn't help.
I found a temporary fix, but the problem would come back. Here's what I did:
1. Turn on GPS
2. Open the GPS Status app
3. In the GPS Status app > Menu > Manage A-GPS State > Reset
4. Turn off GPS
5. Turn on GPS
Doing this stabilizes the GPS. While in the GPS Status app, I can jump directly to the Maps app (by notification bar shortcut) and this will retain a good GPS. However, if I exit (not quit) the GPS Status app to go home, then open the Maps app, GPS is lost again.
Within the GPS Status app, I can now toggle GPS off and on many times and GPS will remain functional. So, the problem is software related (and not hardware)? Any suggestions on a fix? I'm running KK on stock ROM with Nova.
I am having issues with my GPS lately. I searched a lot on google and I found that updating my GPS would be a solution. I came across a list of websites to update my GPS. can someone help me through it?
@sam here
IMHO the easiest and quickest way to solve your problem is to toggle the GPS so that it gets a chance to refresh itself. You can turn the GPS On or Off from the notifications shade of your phone. Pull down the notifications shade and look for the GPS icon. Switch it Off and wait for at least 5 seconds. Switch On the GPS and allow it to check for the location again.
