I have Sony Xperia Neo V. The Problem Is Weird.
I have updated it to the official beta version of ICS (4.0.3).
Now days automatically lights up on its own after each interval of 2-3 seconds.
So it eats up a lot of standby battery.
What should I do?

maybe you should update your phone into official ICS 4.0.3
Yer you using face lock or something I rember mine was same on beta

No. I am using simple pattern lock to lock/unloack my phone. not even any other app.
But yes i used face lock for a day or two. just to check it out!

I have already updated it to ICS 4.0.3. It worked fine for me. Just facing this kind of problem from past few days.
I had the same problem with GB, and it happened when a installed an app that was working in background (i Guess)... i uninstalled it, and the problem is gone.. Unistall the latest app that you installed and tell us
That also happens to my brothers galaxy s2 on ICS so its not isolated to sony.

I have only known apps installed, from reputed distributors. And these are those apps that i also had on GB.
But Thanks for advice. Will see any suspicious app and remove it. 'll inform you guys.
[EDIT] Problem resides. i have uninstalled all my apps.

yes. this is normal. there's other effect on "4.0.1.A.0.283" & "4.0.2.A.0.42" - slow central fade

me too) some guys try to use this effect in new stock ROMs, but just now its still not workin

Heh, my Xperia neo MT15a had the same simple fadeout effect both on 2.3.3 and 2.3.4. I liked the Nexus One old TV effect when I had it in my MIUI Milestone...
Anyone care to tell me where I can find this "Screenon&off" app? I can't find it in Market.

As we remember, 4.0.3 has came with lot of problems (laggs, jerking video recording, low performence in games, battery drain). I suggest to type here what has changed in new OFFICIAL rom for xperia ray (mainly if bugs are solved).

You will not see the information on your phone. You have to use PC Companion or Bridge (for mac).

But an updates note? i've installed this firmware on my ray, but i don't know what changes to 4.0.3
I updated yesterday but didn't notice much difference. I have to admit, I didn't check video recording (I hardly use it) nor 3D gaming performance.
As a few others have pointed out, the notification LED didnt appear to work after receiving an SMS or email unless you woke up the screen.

I understand, you have official 4.0.4. Can you tell what about:
- recording video in hd (what about jerking)
- games performance
- laggs
- battery consumption

ok, i have found the answer by myself on sony blog. Here it is:
4.0.4 update on Xray
Pros:
*ram usage is better.UI is much more smoother.no lagging at all.
*game performanse is better.(and when exiting the game home screen opens directly.no lagging here too)
Cons:
*Calendar widget is still not showing the next event (so What's the use of this widget?)
*Video recording still lags (playback still lags)
*Dialpad is still taking 2-3 seconds to start at first try to open.
*NO notification LIGHT when you recieve a message when screen is off.
I'm still waiting for another update. Good thing is that between first and second update to ICS it was a short time.
1-When u set pattern or PIN lock then sometimes slide to unlock appears automatically before that (some users)
2- whenever u restart ur phone then disabled apps automatically gets enabled(some users)
3- if u set only 3g or 2g network then after reboot dual mode gets selected automatically
4- camera still lags :-/
5-battery drains faster dan b4
6-led for sms not fixed
7-FB Music like giving time out error
First I thought its happening only with me but after searching I found that these problems are actually BUGS and almost every1 who updated to new firmware are facing this problems(problems can vary with users).
so IMO dont update ur phone with this update it sux.

1. Tested that, It still works like the previous updates. And based on your 'sentence' that doesn't happen to me.
2. Tested that, disabled apps from performance assistant/freezed apps from titanium still are disabled after many reboots so I'm not sure what you are whining about.
4. Doesn't lag for me, if not smoother it's the same as before.
6. Confirmed already it doesn't work.

Not everyone will face all above mentioned bugs but I think you are Lucky coz I also updated my friends Xperia pro on different pc with pc companion n guess what he is also facing this bugs... And i said disabling apps from settings not from performance assistant 2- not smoother= lag.
R u on stock kernel?? Coz u r using titanium backup... Plz check ur phone again after sometime n tell ur experience

'Disabling' apps from settings? You mean stopping the apps from the settings? You're not supposed to do that on Android. Yes stock 587 rooted.

I think u didn't get me... goto apps n disable any stock app like gmap n reboot ur phone.
n I think u r on stock Rom but with custom kernel.. is m ri8??

*facepalm* lol disabling apps from performance assistant/titanium backup/settings/even on play store are the same & it didn't caused any problems. I'm on pure stock kernel/rom atm.

ohhhk buddy now I think it happen only with some users coz my 2 lww n Xperia pro has this bug even after flashing on different pcs 4 times :-/
1-dont have

3-yup..but i reboot my phone once in a year so no problem for me
4- Camera LAGS !!!!!!!!!!!!! omg its 2x better than 4.1.b.0.431
5-it drains fast , but not faster than before .. install juicedefender and it will drain slowly
6-install from play store an application called smsawake , it makes your led notification work when you receive sms
7-its the application problem , look at all the reviews for FB application at the play store .. they all rate it 1 stars , 2 stars

Yes, i agree with you, Sony take 3 ICS update and the main important problem SMS LED still not fix. I can't belive that, what they're doing. SONY even not as good as SONY ERICSSON. We can see SE with GB rom is smooth and no bugs, but what we have after Sony with ICS rom.
is the thumbnail corruption bug fixed? (setting camera to 5mp corrupts thumbnails on pc and in quickpic)

It doesn't work for Whatsapp for esample ^^ And I think that this is a very stupid problem, and Sony could fix that, why do they waste money for a bugged ROM? I can understand the first ICS, but this 587..
Sms LED notification, is working for me, it always has.... lol. Im not facing any of the above problems, phone is so smooth dialer etc even when i set cpu on 806mhz.
Guys is there no face detection in stock camera app in ICS?
I've searched to no avail... i've tried what some people claimed to hav worked for them(removing sd card and rebooting phone until front camera options shows up) but it only provided a temporary solution... the moment i turn off my phone it goes away again and it is not easy to get it to come back... can anybody help me with a permanent fix to this issue???
i'm using xperia neo v... ICS build 4.1.B.0.587 stock rom by sony... previously GB 2.3.4...

Return back to GB is a good point ! GB is smoother for Gaming and Multitasking unlike laggy ICS ! Or you can use any custom rom !
I'd recommend JS and Revo ICS

Go to your camera app--> tap the scene recognition icon--> select front camera. That should work. I'm using Neo V and I can operate front camera in this way.

i considered that but i have read from other people suffering the same problem as me that though they flashed GB back into their phones the problem never went away... as for custom rom, i do not want to root my phone or unlock the bootloader...

yes i know that... but after the upgrade to ICS the "front camera" option no longer exist... i see only 4 options instead of 5

tried third party apps... still not working... will goin back to GB solve the problem??? i hav read from other post or sites of some ppl goin back to GB but the problem stayed wif them... some hav even tried factory reset but continued facing the same problems... could it be that the problem is more hardware related than software??? mayb flashing my phone fried some part of it's hardware???
Same here. Frontcam gone after using ics for a while. And we are not alone after a quick search on google.
Nothing much to do i think, not for me anyway as i have unlocked BL and rooted, and flashed.
Do not think my 2 year guarantee from the seller works anymore
A google search revealed that people were having problems with all Sony phones even 2012 ones

PROBLEM WITH OTHER CAMERA apk
My problem is that , my stock camera apk(ICS) is working properly but it takes long time to take that snap.
I tried to install other camera applications but i found that every application displays "INVERTED SCREEN" (When the Camera id ON).
After clicking on the button (to take the snap) it automatically reverts back and shows Correctly in the Gallery..

Phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo MT15i - New in oct 2011
My frontcamera is suddenly "dead"..and gone from all menus on my Neo.
It is not possible to choose from the camera settings anywhere.
It does not work in skype, or other third party apps.
When i hit service tests with *#*#7378423#*#*, choose secondary camera it says: "the device does not support this function"
It was avail for some time in camera settings, but when i chose it, it froze the whole phone.
But as describe above, now it is all gone.
Consider it lost and just move on?
Or does anyone have some other suggestion? Software fix?
PS: I tried flashing back to gingerbread and so on.. no luck.
Considered flashing. 587 again?

Seems like a hardware effect, but i am not sure.
Strange thing, seems like i am not alone with this, after jumping from GB to ICS on a neo mt15i
Also i un-installed cam app, and reinstalled again. No effect.
The only system apps i have frozen or un-installed by systemcleaner, are update center and update service and all Facebook apps.

Try to flash stock gb rom using flashtool.. Maybe it will start working again... Otherwise goto sony service center, its a hardware fault..
