I would guess we have a week or so before an official announcement on a release date, and probably a month or 2 until it's pushed out. What do you all think?
Would be REALLY great to see it sooner rather than later.
Notice the baseband and kernel version... UCLC5? Whats up with that...
that's kinda disappointing. So pretty much the same. What's the point then? Guess I'll wait until official is out then get a custom ROM version.
UCLC5 was the kernel and baseband build leaked first... Wonder why they would run that if they already developed UCLD3... Maybe when they loaded it, thats all they had and it was a special load for that display...
I wonder if they will release ICS on a new quad Note first.
Then in small print say " Oh, yes for the old Note losers, we will post an update to your in a few weeks"
wouldn't surprise me.
I posted this yesterday. Its a few pages back now.

The theme looks absolutely brilliant. I just ordered my Note tonight and the warehouse is relatively close to my home (guessing it will come around Friday or Saturday) and I'd absolutely love to put this theme on my phone.
I'm guessing there will be compatibility issues because of the different internals but I wasn't sure, so I asked here. Thanks for all help.

It would be great if we could use that, but no way we can yet. From what I hear the TPC ROM has some ICS theme stuff in it.

Well that's a shame. I read somewhere here on the forums that though Exynos is better in stock form, our S4 will be better when the development comes in full swing because Snapdragon is better for overclocking. I'll look to the positive on this then
Besides that, completely off the original topic, do you (or anyone else) think this link below of the ICS update applies to us i717 Noters as well?
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490986
Well, no one can be 100% positive when it comes to ATT and upgrades but the general consensus is that ICS is coming to the un branded international Note in March and Our i717 Note will get it whenever ATT gets through with it. Whenever that is??? Most people are hoping by the end of the year.
On a brighter Note, if you read the Development threads, it appears they're working on an AOKP version of ICS for our phone. So expect that ROM or one like it to come out sooner than the official update to ICS. So if you don't already know, start learning what you can about flashing ROM's.
Here's the thread about the AOKP ROM rumors:

And here's AOKP main page:

That is a great theme. As previously stated, dobt that it will work. Doesn't hurt to try it. That's what NAND is for, right.
Off topic again: What roms/modifications do you suggest I put on my Note when I get it?

End of the year? That's a shame. I'm semi-new to the Android experience. I got my Nook Color in December so I can flash and do the basics, but that's it. Asides from that, I really hope that "March to May" estimate on the International Note was close.

It is quite a beautiful theme. I'll try it out when I get my Note.
Just wondering what everyone thinks, when I got GB on my Atrix the test version that was used a week before was 2.3.3 but the actual ota update was 2.3.4 which was a wonderful surprise. Anyone think that could happen for the Note?

I'm going to say 4.0.3 unless Samsung had inside access to 4.0.4 and it's release. Samsung announced the delay for ICS on the Note a week before 4.0.4 was released so it's anyone's guess really. Maybe they knew about the new version and decided to build on that, maybe they didn't know and were just trying to save face before Q1 ended.
Apparently it's quite the difference...

Yea definitely does seem like it, although idc if it is 4.0.3 as long as developers can build a better one soon afterward.
Whenever Samsung releases their source code, Cyanogen can build us a really nice rom based on the latest kernel changes which right now would be 4.04
Android Central has a post up about seeing official ICS running on the note. http://www.androidcentral.com/ice-cream-sandwich-att-samsung-galaxy-note-ctia
Hopefully we will get it sooner then later.
Looks promising ; )

Isn't that the same build number as the first ICS leak? It would be so easy for anyone to flash the first leaked rom and make a video that gets people excited when its really just the leaked rom.
lmao thats the first leak someone probably flashed that and was like omg come look at my phone im testing ICS

In fact IML74k 144 is the build number of the first ics leak. The video is a hoax. It is the first leaked ICS rom. How could they not have noticed before posting that video? They must be in on the joke or simply not that intelligent cause I noticed as soon as I seen the build number that it was just the leaked rom.
I might be reading the article wrong, but I think that showing that video is intentional as they mention the leak build, but they say that the phone they are looking at (not necessarily shown in the video, though they should be more clear about that) is official.
In the video Phil says he is at the AT&T booth at CTIA. No reason to believe it is a hoax...

Yes he said he was at the AT&T booth but he never said it was there device and the fact that it was not strapped with the lock on the back so people will not take it tells me it was someones device and not owned by AT&T. I say its a hoax cause there is no way in the world the man with the Note in his hands or the people on the website didn't know it was the leaked rom and I believe they are just tryin to get peoples hopes up and hoping people would not notice theild number.
He also says "I am at CTIA and low and behold there is ICS running on the Note" but you could also go to the gas station or Walmart and see a Galaxy Note with ICS running on it. Maybe the device was owned by a worker at the booth that simply flashed the leaked rom.
I saw the video earlier in the day, i see there's almost no change in the look of the ui. Oh well better than nothing.

Just wondering if any beta testers have anything to report on the latest release from Asus ... When did you receave it, How is performance ? Does it address the I/O issues?
If you can - please update here to help everyone at xda-developers.com

Esp for those you wish to keep to stock!
I have not received anything since the 28.5 firmware update a LONG time ago.
If JB is coming in the "coming months" as announced today.. who cares about some updates to ICS now. It's old news.
I care, because, I'd like to have a tablet I can use. Right now, it's pretty damned annoying.
Just like "months" is irritating. I'd get excited about early august.

Exactly. JB is great and all, but how about providing me with a decent, usable tablet first. It's been almost 8 friggin' months now.
so, rather than agressively work on the next latest OS, you want them to continue to dilly dally with ICS versus just getting on with it? it takes them months between ICS releases and the issues are not improving. Why not take months and get on with JB and making it happen.
not me. ICS, forget about it... lets get on to the next OS versus wasting time, resources, effort, on an ICS

Well first of all, hello all Prime users. I am relatively new to forum and checking this section because I recently purchased Infinity. I believe it may perhaps be two different things. ICS & JB are OS but they can potentially fix the issue based on the Kernel if so they probably should as there is probably a good chance they are going to use the kernel on JB. So what I mean is JB may show up but if they continue to use the same Kernel and if it is indeed the issue.... So yeah if these firmware update are referring to OS tuning then won't worth it but if it is Kernel, which they use for both JB & ICS then they should fix it on ICS before potentially introducing new issue with JB.
Nothing they do to IML74K 4.0.3 will solve the 201's problems.. just my opinion
If they push JB they better have an updated kernel.

I hope so too. I suspect a lot of problems would be solved with a fresh kernel with updated drivers.

Lets try again: Where are all the many beta testers of alfa softwareversion, there should have been ready 8 month ago! Gary from ASUS mention them all the time. Can't se any clue of them....

I agree but no way to know for sure until Gary stops blowing smoke up our asses and actually posts new firmware that is if any actually exist.
For me I'd rather be testing new JB software with a 3.1.x kernel like the one on the Nexus 7 than dicking around with 4.0.3.
The thing is - they say "months". Which is how many, exactly, 3 or 5 or 7 ? And wouldn't it be a little bit unpleasant, if after 3 months of waiting we'd get same crashing crap, like 28 is ?
And damn I hate this secrecy. Honestly, waiting wouldn't be so much of a trouble if I knew what the problem is and what're the chances they're fixed in JB.
No-one would wait if it were for a TV, don't see how it's different for a tablet.

Based on the ASUS previous reputation/track record, which is now further strengthened by the fact they are the official Nexus maker for tablet, we will still see it before anybody else.
Developer Options Limit background processes
I would love to have JB and I keep coming back to the forums to see if there's any good news but never what I want to hear. I too would like to beta test any firmware that came down the pipe.... The one thing I have done and found it on another thread in here, Limit background processes to 4 in Developer Options. It has made all the difference to me on how the tablet runs. Its always quick and runs more like I had hoped. There's always a bunch of nonsense on why the tablet is terribly slow, but this has made me happy until JB comes out. I expect Asus to mess it up and continue to messing it up but when its all said and done I'm still pretty happy!

Any news on the new version Gary announced on 16th July 2012?
It seems Gary is too busy dealing with the damage control over on the tf700 forum unfortunately. I think the Prime's are going to take a seat even further back(although I didn't know that was possible)
only info known on it so far from speaking to him.

It will address I/O issues. Could possibly have some JB features/components in it. This is likely the last ICS update before JB. Beta version for testing hasn't released yet because its not ready yet, or at least when I spoke to Gary few days ago.
Well I don't know how much of a demand there is for touchwiz jellybean but I really like the functionality of touchwiz on my GS3 and would love to flash it on my gf note. I am willing to throw down $10(sorry I am broke lol) to any dev who ports over gs3 or note 2 ROM. If anyone wants to thrown down some bones the better

If it was possible we would already have it. Have to wait for official release or maybe a leak when it is ready.
Nice sentiment, but it's not about putting in the work. It's just that we're waiting for Samsung to release a working JB kernel. But when they do that, it'll be TW anyway.
Ok so its the kernel that's holding us back... damn samsung release already last year it was top of the line and to my knowledge is still being sold in both Att and T-Mobile so they should keep us updated
sent from my Samsung Gangster S III on the T-Mobile network
Once the kernel source drops, then that would open up all sorts of possibilites. When that will happen? Your bet is as good as mine.
Until then, Thread Closed.
