Wifi Error Turning on... Viewpad 7 - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

Wifi was working fine at stock firm (original rom). Suddenly it stopped working.
When i tap on Wireless&Networks > Wifi, the status remains "turning on" for a few seconds and then shows "Error".
I've tried some things without success, then i decided to clean all the system, and flash a custom ROM for my device, such as EUViewpad7 v1.7b.
Flash was successful, but the problem persists.
My original configuration
Vpad7 w/ Android 2.2.1
Baseband version PR3.7_125
Kernel version Apps_2.6.32.9
Build number 1008_3_240
SWVer=3.240
Model: FM6-0001
HWVer=107
My new configuration
Vpad7 w/ Android 2.2.2
Baseband version PR3.7_125
Kernel version Apps_2.6.32.9
Build number 4027_3_420
SWVer=3.240
Model: FM6-0001
HWVer=107
Does anyone have an idea? Is it a hardware problem?
thanks

U must flash stock rom 2.2.2 with - SUT 1.7 - root - CWM - before flash EU rom, I'm found this problem, too. It's may like alot to do, but it not take a time than 20 minute.

ok. I'll do that as soon as i can find that stock rom.
The root procedure could be done using SuperOneClick 1.7 too?
thanks for the Glimmer of hope!

I flashed the official viewpad's stock firm 3.62, which was downloaded from viewsoniceurope web site. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1279231). After have done it using SUT 1.7 my old CWM recovery mode was changed to the original recovery mode. (Android system recovery utility <3e>).
System was restarted with success.
unfortunately, my device's wi-fi problem keeps not working. Click wi-fi to turn it on, but status is "Turning on" for a few seconds and then shows "Error". I've tried several times, but don't work.
Would be that a hardware problem?

I think so...after four ROM's (always wiping cache/data).
1) Store/stock rom v3.24
2) EUViewpad71.7b
3) Newest/updated stock rom v3.62
and now...
4) kwbr_Viewpad7_4.2

Wifi Error Turning on
I've found that if i save and backup my sdcard then use clockworkmod to repartition or clear the dalvik cache etc it works fine.. I think if you tried out multi different ROM then it is just left over stuff in the sdcard that cause these problems.

[Q] Going from 2.1 to CM7

My son has one of these ph's...
Soonish I will install recovery using odin & then make a nandroid of his stock rom...
once we have that done I'm guessing he'll want to try a custom rom
do I need to flash a 2.2 stock rom before trying CM7??
If so, which stock rom should I be using... I'm from New Zealand btw (next to Australia).
T.I.A
Pre-requisites:
Visit the Basebands thread and make sure that you are using a baseband that is recommended for CyanogenMod.
You need a rooted phone, ClockworkMod Recovery (first time users must flash with Odin), and ROM Manager. For more information on all three items, see the Getting started with ROM Manager & ClockworkMod section in post #2.

but...my sons ph is stock 2.1, so it already has correct baseband
You're saying I can go straight to CM7 (from 2.1) as long as I flash correct baseband along with CM7 install?
Once I have CWM installed & everything backed up I'll give it a nudge

I understand, but you already need the 2.2 baseband version before installing CM7 port. It won't work with 2.1 baseband. Just go to madteam.co forum and grab the latest baseband version for your region, then flash it, and finally flash the CWM.
Stuck @ Odin ^^

Odin won't detect ph??
Cable is working... (can get into kies)
Ph is in download mode...
Drivers are installed (those for when ph is awake [auto installed via Win 7] & those from Samsung site when ph is in download mode [manually installed])
Must be the OPS file!!
I need one for GT I5500...
when I select the OPS that came in archive from the 'How to install CWM & CM7' thread... it shows I5500 @ the top of tool & not GT-I5500 from the images in the guide...
Please advise
These are the steps that I'm using to flash stock and other ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13958380&postcount=2
You have to pass the three key combination in order to enter "download mode". After you are in, you will like to load the OPS file which is named EUROPA_v1.0.ops. Choose "one package" in Odin options in the left and load the baseband that you've downloaded at the baseband thread in "One package" down in the right. Then connect the phone and the spot called "Com port mapping" will light up in yellow which means that not only that your phone has been detected, but it is ready to be flashed. Now click the "Start" button and wait a few seconds. Your phone will restart and probably will bootloop. Take out the battery and place it back in a few seconds later. Go to download mode again and load the CWM tar as "one package". Then flash again.
After the phone restarts you will be within the ClockworkMod recovery. Now it is time to place the update and gapps (should your son need google apps package for some reason) in the root folder of your microSD card (or in some folder called eg. CyanogenMod). Flash the CM update, wipe all data, cache, dalvik, battery stats, fix permissions, restart and you will see the blue skating robot. If you have a bootloop, redownload the update file for CM and reupload it to to sd card... now you are using the CM port by psyke83

Dude!! I flashed the baseband from madteam and now I'm in boot loop
Knew it sounded fishy
baseband on my moto is changed after rom install... not before
I'd appreciate if you could point me to a stock firmware that I can flash with Odin or tell me the key combination to get into recovery mode so I can restore the backup I made...
Edit: Found a English stock 2.2 rom which I flashed using Odin...
Can't we get into recovery with a key combo?? Seems odd
Here is the sequence of upgrading from 2.1 to CM7 port:
Plan B
1. flash baseband for 2.2 (or flash 2.2 itself and it will replace 2.1 baseband with 2.2 one)
2. flash CWM and it will reboot in recovery mode
3. install CM7 from update file from goo-inside.me...
or:
Plan A (psyke83 prefers this one)
1. root 2.1
2. install GooManager from G Play Store
3. open GooManager, check for updates, download update and enter recovery to install CM7
It looks like you've just completed step 1 from Plan B. Now it's time to visit download mode again and proceed with step 2, then step 3 and you are running CM7.
I tried going from stock 2.1 to CM7...my G5 is from the Middle East, with XSG product code so it was sitting on 2.1 since I bought it...
No matter how many times I tried going into recovery, performing the "4 wipes" and then installing in the correct sequence, it wouldnt leave boot loop...to top it up, my stock JJ2 rom flashed using Odin was also boot-looping...
I only rescued my phone by first flashing i5500XXJED and then going back to my stock ROM...
Was this because I didn't go from 2.2 to CM7?
got CM7 on it no probs ^^
tried reboot via power menu options & ph stuck at boot!?
Spent the better part of next 2 hours getting back to working 2.2...
will try suggestions below...
Edit: CM7 on & working ^^ going to stay away from 'Reboot' option though ;-P
Well, should you find CM7 not stable enough, just go with 2.2 until a stable CM7 relase is up.
You could also try this one: http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/(beta-released)-mad-rom-2-5/
Sms text is white on white... Swiping up turns text black.
The biggie is no lock screen?!
Any one got a fix for this bug?
King_Rat on tap
We've settled on clean rom ^^
visually it's bit of a dogs breakfast
Extra large slider tabs!? Baby blue on baby blue!? No theme engine? (anyone know how to manually install this??)
Functionality seems to be good ^^ couple of the games he likes have a screen time-out glitch...
Otherwise all is good

The easiest way is to use the update.zip boot into stock recovery and keep hitting reinstall packages I normally have to do it three or four times. Make sure you have a new ROM to flash so that when it goes into clockwork finally you can flash it and keep root. If you don't flash a new ROM it will automatically take you to stock recovery every time you try to reeboot recovery

how do I check this ? I have downloaded the zip from the link which I have added in previous post its based on 4.1.
Go to settings>about phone.
BTW, you are running an old, no longer supported version of miui.
Also I wouldn't use ROM manager at all.

Internal memory almost dead on Galaxy?

I have a Galaxy i9100 from a uncle wich stoped to work, he said it sudenly stop and it doesn't want to come alive again
the reality, it was stuck on the samsung logo page, so i come with Vol+Power+Key to the recovery mode to make a wipe cache partition first (what did not solve the problem) and a data/factory wipe afterwards,
It worked, but only for a while, after I set up wifi and google acount and start download the samsung update, the mobile restart after few seconds and got stuck again the logo screen.
Wiped three times, always the same, after couple minutes of usage, it restart and got stuck
Also, it fails to load the "desktop", both the icons and the application menus
all I guess, is that the internal memory got corrupted or fails in some way,
how could I make a "memtest" or what else I can do to check if the mobile could be repaired?
the recovery mode says "Android system recovery <3e>" and it allows to apply updates from ADB, from external storage and from cache. Could I apply some update to make it work?
as I got told after an "interrogation", my uncle was using one of this "cleaner" and was removing own samsung apps becouse "I never using them" and suddenly got dead
that shouldn't be a problem if the internal memory is ok after making a factory reset, isn't it ?
If he used some root cleaner then not. Just try to download the firmware and update it with odin or check my link with xwms1 flashable zip in my signature. Then you only need to do if you are on stock to flash philz kernel temporary or the other one and reboot.
My build is included with stock kernel so no changes made. If you want full stock flash odexed. Cause all the normal official versions were odexes I believe
Goodluck with your uncles phone.

Then I installed the stock rom, and it fails again as earlier, stuck on loading "SAMSUNG" logo
once more Cyanogenmod, and then working
once more stockRom, and then stuck
so, I give my uncle with cyanogenmod, and he say that "this new operative system is more difficult and ugly than the other one..."
problem is, sort of, solved, but how comes I can't make the stock Rom working while cyanogenmod work ok ?

What am I doing wrong?

Hey,
I have since become a S3 ... I have rooted it and wanted to play another Rome.
First I flashed my Carbon ... that was wonderful, but I had no wifi. Then I tried another Rom (with aroma installer). When I had WiFi, but since I have the menu did not like it and it was me too many Samsung Apps.
Now I have flashed me the Resurrection Remix, but the S3 boots constantly new to the CWM.
The same I have with CM11.
What am I doing wrong please?

You need to install exactly like below don't miss any steps
-Installation-
1.- Wipe data / factory reset (mandatory if you coming from STOCK OR 4.2.X version or another ROM)
2.- Install the Main ROM
3- install gapps
4.- When you're back on recovery go to Advanced
5.- Wipe Dalvik Cache
6.- Fix Permissions
7.- Wipe Cache Partition
8.- Reboot
If it still not working flash TWRP recovery and use that to flash the rom
Hey,
I just did it. Then came the Samsung logo, phone restarts and I'm back in the CWM.
Have just flashed TWRP reboot (via CWM) Recovery and but still have CWM.
Grrrrrr ...... what for now
Better download official firmware from Sammobile and install thru Odin. Then Root and carry on with your favorite custom rom.
Yes I agree with KSKHH if problem still there return to stock with odin and start again..

Hey,
I have now taken me this firmware:
I9300XXUGML2_I9300DTMGML2_I9300BOUGMK3_HOME.tar
Odin started, specified in the PDA tar file, made my S3 in the download mode, USB cable ran ... it was detected and was also flashed. Now I sit for at least 10 minutes and nothing happens.
The Samsung logo always changes its color and the LED on the top left light blue.
