64GB Micro SD - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Picked one up in anticipation of the EVO LTE.
I'm 99% sure it will work, but I will confirm once I receive my phone.
The micro SD slot is one of the EVO's strongest assets so I want the max capacity I can get (within a reasonable price).
Anyone else planning on getting one? They are $80 on Best Buy's website.

I'm pretty sure that the phone can only handle a 32 Gb card.

That's what the paper specs say, but people have had great luck with the card working on other android phones.
Confirmed to work on:
-Galaxy Note
-Razr
-MyTouch 4G
-Bionic
-GS2 (sprint)
-Captivate Glide
-Transformer Prime
and many more.

Great!
Oh wow. I am excited to hear your results.
I actually don't see any online for cheaper. In fact, Newegg.com has them for $91.00 apparently. And Google shopping finds them for 80$, bestbuy being the cheapest.
I will quickly jump on board with you bud. Following your thread to see your results

32GB on my OG Evo, although those nandroids eat up space like nobody's business with a 1GB ext partition =/

I have heard that people have had success with 64 GB microSDXC cards on OG EVO. If they use even remotely similar controllers, it may be possible. Apparently gives an error when first inserted, but after reformating by device, it works just fine. Maybe something to do with the way they make the exFAT partitions, who knows. May pick one up if I see it on sale, will post if it works.

http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=230276145&sellerid=18478224
And 75$ on amazon w/ free shipping. Says Class 6
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336847598&sr=8-1
Man now I am wondering if i should just wait till prices keep dropping, especially since wirefly orders of phone could be potentially delayed.
Does anyone know if the class 10 vs 6 matters?
Since from my research it shows after reformatting for our phones it really won't surpass class 6.

64 GB micros SD cards....
I would hunt around for the best price, like Amazon, or Pricewatch. I've seen some come in around $70. I have a 32GB right now and will wait awhile as the 64GB price goes down.

Already posted in a thread on this topic here - these will work. Definitely. They work in every Android device they've ever been used in, and they work up to the full storage capacity (~59GB). Used mine in Android devices since September last year, was one of the first to report on it here: http://www.androidnz.net/2011/09/sandisk-64gb-micro-sdxc-cards-confirmed.html (in fact my piece is the source that the Androidcommunity piece linked to on the previous page got their information from).

I have two SanDisk 64GB cards and they have worked in my devices all the way back to my Thunderbolt. I have one that works just fine in the EVO 3D that I'm typing this on to you right now.
I don't know if this ongoing "32GB" limit is just laziness from the product marketing people not updating their specs as new capacities come out, or if engineering is afraid to commit to it because the SD manufacturer changes between batches and some devices support the higher capacity and others don't.
Either way it's annoying to read, but thems the breaks.

Just picked one up off of Amazon for $75.00

this has been a big debate with sdcards...i dont know if there is a manufacturer standard that is 100% identical for all manufacturers to use. some brand class 4 cards will simple outperform other brands class 10.
edit: besides why not just move anything you need to access the fastest to the internal memory? i'd say go with the best deal and not let class 6 vs class 10 be a deciding factor
edit2: according to http://www.sandisk.com/products/mob...crosdhc-and-microsdxc-uhs-i-cards-for-android
Capacities Performance
16, 32, 64 GB Class 10 (UHS Speed Class 1†† ), up to 30 MB/sec
4, 8 GB** Class 6, up to 30 MB/sec*
^^ that tells me all the 16, 32, 64GB sdxc cards they rate as class 10 (even though amazon says class 6) i would venture to say check the manf# but they are likely the same exact card
edit3:
amazon: SDSDQY-064G-A11A
buy.com: SDSDQUA-064G-A11A
sandisk: SDSDQUA-064G-A11A (no SDSDQY on sandisk's site...likely another typo)

yea, the price difference was only about 2 dollars. However I noticed no one is selling a class 10 except this guy on buy.com (possibly the same guy at newegg at 110$, since its from a 3rd party with 1 review). And looking at his ratings, he has 1 review so far. Leads me to believe guy is just passing off a class 6 as class 10. His company address is a house in Illinois. Not building confidence in returns.
The amazon product is sold by Blueproton, who I have bought cards from before. So in the end might just end up going with them.
For anyone buying from Blueproton, if you scroll down as part of buying the SD card you are supposed to get a free reader.

1st of all I want to say this post has me excited. I am buying a 64gb SD card for my EVO 4G LTE.
I have been reading up and users that have conformed this to work on there devices. Several have said that there is a drop in speed. Can anyone conform this?
Price wise it is cheaper to buy a class 6, but I will be transferring a lot of music and videos to my SD card. Will the drop in speed make it necessary to buy a class 10 card?

32GB MicroSDHC Spotted

But is it legit?
http://cgi.ebay.com/32GB-Micro-sd-S...C_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item3efac7fa3e
This looks like a fake silkscreened 32gb. Either that or photoshopped. It could be a method of formatting a lesser capacity chip to show 32gb on the device but when you start putting files into the card, it errors out when reached to its original capacity. I remember ebay had a fake 2GB MiniSD card a few years ago. People bought the card but can only fill the card to 1GB then it errors out. Also notice it's a class 4. SanDisk's first 16GB was a class 2. It took almost half a year for SanDisk to release a class 4. and almost a year for other companies to release a class 6. Based on SanDisk's progress, how can a 32gb's initial release be a class 4?
http://cgi.ebay.com/32GB-Micro-SD-w...ewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item27ad8355e
This seller has no feedbacks which tells me it's not legit. also a SanDisk chip.

This one is interesting. The auction is for a Kingston but the picture shows a photochopped SanDisk 32gb microsdhc.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270480520707
This one looks funny too. It is a Kingston 32GB MicroSDHC but it looks like a class 8. Again no way a newly released chip will have such fast transfer rate. Also look at the user name on the picture. It's not even his. Also the buyer who bought it has only 2 feedbacks.
I Have emailed Kingstons sales dept regarding the availability of 32GB MicroSDHC. I'm awaiting their reply.

Dude, you should inform eBay about your findings. These people are obviously crooks who prey on unsuspecting victims. A 32gb Micro SDHC card is highly sought after and these people know it.
WOW that guy is quite the crook. Look at his feedback! I feel bad for those poor souls who already left positive feedback for their "32GB" microSD cards.
Looks like the fake 32Gb chips have been pulled. The bad thing is that the people who got scammed probably don't even know it yet. The Chinese make a number of fake chips like this. The chips even report, falsely, the listed memory capacity to the device. Problems arise when you attempt to store more than the real capacity though. These chips were probably 1 or 2 Gb, or maybe less. I bought an 8Gb "Ipod" in Beijing that turned out to be 256 Mb. Oh well, cheap lesson learned.
A lot of these chips from China also come with Viruses/Trojans pre-installed as well.
i wonder what happened? we all know sandisk had prototypes out in 2008. maybe they decided to milk the 16gb cash cow for a little longer? i cant imagine if they had working prototypes over a year ago that this isnt ready for prime time yet.
Deleted, apologies, as Jim pointed out, they were SD, not microSD

This day has been long awaited, but today Samsung Electronics announced two high-density memory solutions for mobile devices. gigabyte (GB) moviNANDTM memory device and a 32GB micro secure digital (microSD) memory card that meet the requirements for Micro SD cards of this days.
“Samsung’s high-density memory solutions bring the storage capacity levels of computing systems to small, mobile devices,” said Dong-Soo Jun, executive vice president, memory marketing, Samsung Electronics.
He went on to say, “The 64GB embedded memory, moviNAND, and the 32GB microSD card each greatly expand the data storage density of mobile devices, meeting customers’ memory requirements and ushering in a new era of mobile and IT device capacity growth.”
These new line of Micro SD cards come in 32GB, 16GB, 8GB and 4GB densities. The devices will begin developments next month and we should have this in store soon, and I am sure for a very high price. This is big, and hopefully our devices that have been said to “Support up to 32GB” will do what they are suppose to.

At least $100 is my guess.
This is great! Now 16GB cards will get cheaper and I'll buy one of those. I stay one stop behind as those have the best prices. 2009 was a stand-still in microSD cards. Its like it never happened. 8GB and 16GB micro SDHC cards cost the same now as they did in the beginning of 2009, they actually increased in cost and came back down.
DDR memory has actually increased a lot over 2009 and still costs more now then it did in the beginning of 2009.

Who would buy one in that range? A Class 6 16gb goes for around $60. Charging 4 times more for twice the space and a slower card is not going to gain a lot of sales.
Fresh Technologies are always 3-5x the price of the Highest Last Gen stuff.
The one's on ebay are fake

Wrong subforum. This is for the Touch Pro 2.
But overkill is a matter of opinion. I have a 16 GB card on my phone, having upgraded from a 6GB. Its nice to have the extra storage. I wouldn't have minded even more, but I decided the 32GB card was not worth the extra money.
I have one of those knock off china ones and it works amazingly... yeah the day i got it all the printing "rubbed" off but I kid you not its class 6 and 32gig and I have filled it to its max. I think I paid $19 shipped for it.
so be wary of the china ones but some of them appear to be legit.

Micro SD card, Best bang for the $

Ok, this is something I know a lot of people are possibly concerned about. I seen it noted in other threads but never really discussed completely. I've been doing some research about class 6 and class 10 Micro SD cards. Now the prices really aren't that bad anymore for the micro SD cards. I was really surprised to see a Kingston 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 for $109 on Newegg.com but I was not searching for prices rather searching for reviews from people who have used them. I don't care about what (1) person says, but of what (X) people have to say about a product to reduce the bias content. I am a fan on SanDisk and they claim a 15Mb/s read spead Micro SD card called the Mobil Ultra and is priced at $83.93 at Amazon.com
Through my research of it I found a review someone did of the 4GB model.
Before I go further checking other products though, I would like to know what the read/write speeds of the EVO 3D are and if that's not available then just the read/write of a phone with equal quality.
I just got a 16GB class 4 Sandisk from Walmart last week for $30, so I would say that you should not pay $84 for the same thing.
Edit: Just looked into it a little bit more and they claim faster sequential R/W speeds on the Mobile Ultra, I benchmarked mine and don't remember the exact numbers since I was more interested in the random R/W speeds. Either way it seems like a hefty price to pay for what seems to be an ~50% increase in speed.
Last night I picked up a Patriot 32GB Class 10 card from Frys for 84.00.
Is patriot any good? Im a little weary of going to brands I don't know. Also I read bad things about class 10 SD cards failing a lot.
Also in the review, maybe I should have posted the benchmark scores for people that didn't want to click the link.
"Testing showed that the Mobile Ultra microSDHC card offers more than adequate read and write data transfer speeds. Read speeds averaged 20MB/sec. and write speeds averaged 14MB/sec. This is significantly faster than a typical microSDHC card, and is a big jump in performance over a microSD card as well."
So I like those speeds. He used about 500MB of MP3 files for the tests.
Also the MicroSD cards used to cost like $100 for a class 2-4 16GB a few years ago. To me the increase of speed is worth it if the phone can use it. May allow for faster loading of games and apps saved on the SD card. I don't exactly know which is my reason for opening the thread and I'm sure others would like to know as well.
I had a Patriot 16GB class 10 that I replaced with the Sandisk. I had been trying to run a ROM off it for my Nook and kept getting FC's. If you only need it to do things like play music it will be fine, but I wouldn't be installing apps to SD if I were using that.
I've never even heard of patriot. I would definitely stick with known brands. Especially if your buying an expensive ass class10

I just bought a 32Gb class 10 SanDisk Extreme III at Amazon last night for 89.95.

It's amazon either refuse the shipment or ship do an rma to ship it back. Since it's your fault they'll charge you shipping or you can ship it your own way back to them. If you refuse shipment they'll simply refund your total amount when they get it back. Cancelling payment isn't the right thing to do in this case, plus they can get it overturned with the cc company if their delivery shows it was received.

It's called anecdotal evidence. You have given some and so have I. If you are refering to the compatibility list? Ok. Glad this is a thread for HTC which has excellent compatibility with this brand. It works great in the Xoom I had for a week. Works great in my Evo 4g. Worked great in my GF's Hero until she begged me for a Nexus4g... I have yet to have a patriot work near or less than rated speed. Always much better than rated. Sorry you have had a bad experience.

Well nothing really in that price range, but after experiencing hands on two counterfeits (Sandisk), I can say this one is the real deal: http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-MicroSD...610M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315997847&sr=8-1

Just going to bump this thread rather than start a new one. http://www.1Saleaday.com has 32gb Sandisk Class 4 micro sd cards for $35 including shipping. Had good reviews on Amazon and Newegg, not sure if it's the EXACT same Sandisk, but their Class 4's got great ratings. 1Saleaday is like Woot, so it's only good until 9pm PST Friday night, or until they sell out.
Checked some other threads, and some people say Class 4 might be a bit more stable than Class 10, so I'm going for it. Especially if you're not paying double the price for the card, so for the price you can't beat it really. It's been discussed in these threads the last few weeks:

holy ****.
well, i will suggest a sandisk class 4, or a PNY class 10!
can't go wrong with either of those. don't use anything less than a class 4.
Patriot class 10. Used it in my Evo 4G and now my 3D. Fast transfers and no corruption issues.

64GB Micro SDXC for $79 @ Adorama (3/26)

Don't know how long it's going to last, but for now at least Best Buy has the Sandisk 64GB MicroSDXC for $79 (online only). It was listed as "sold out" earlier today, but I guess they are getting more in stock. Been thinking about pulling the trigger on one, so this was too good to pass up. Just ordered mine, better jump on this deal quick if you want one.
Its only a class 6.. If your gonna go, go all out class 10. Nut up or shut up!

Samsung Micro SDHC Class 10 is the only Class 10 card I would recommend. Others are crap. 2nd best would be this, Sandisk Ultra Micro SDHC/SDXC 32gb/64gb.
The 32gb is $35 if anyone is interested.
Sandisk Mobile Ultra 16gb ($20) - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/SanDisk...uId=4120107&st=sandisk ultra mobile&cp=1&lp=2
Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32gb ($35) - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/SanDisk...uId=3695074&st=sandisk ultra mobile&cp=1&lp=1
Snadisk Mobile Ultra 64gb ($80) - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/SanDisk...uId=4120116&st=sandisk ultra mobile&cp=1&lp=3
May be the pricing is a little more than what we can find in eBay.

You mean the ones on eBay that are running for about $145?
Edit: sold out again.
Does 64gb Work?
Do 64gb SDXC cards work on the at&t Galaxy S2? I am told that 32gb is the limit.

I heard the same:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_ii_i777-4130.php
Card slot microSD, up to 32GB, 8 GB included
Internal 16/32GB storage, 1 GB RAM
the 64 works on SGSII you just need to format it to FAT32. I'll see if I can find the link. Good find on the price. Looks sold out again though

64 gb micro sdxc
I have received my micro sd card from Bestbuy and after inserting it into my Galaxy S2 i777 it stated that the card was damaged. Here is how you can fix that
Format The Sd Card via the format tag on your phone, and it should be recognized, but only 59.46 GB.

I kept missing the sale. Every single time it went live, I could never get there before they sold out. Now it doesn't even have the sale price, which leads me to believe getting it at a discounted price is over. The last time (about a week ago) it was 89.99. Well, today I found one on Amazon for $99 (free shipping) from a reputable seller. I pulled the trigger .
Anyone still looking for a deal on these should act quickly.

Lol, that's the seller on Amazon. Well, I lost 20 bucks, but it's ok. I'm just glad to finally find one ~$100. I had been looking for literally weeks.
Me too, I grabbed 3 when I saw it today on slickdeals

Holy crap. The name slickdeals sounded familiar, but I had never checked it out. That site is seriously something to look at everyday. I was just casually looking around and saw a Galaxy Nexus for ~$500. I've seen similar deals before, but with carrier branding. The one I just saw is the generic unlocked version. I might grab it. I still hate that it doesn't have a microsd slot though, which is why I'll keep my i777 as my everyday use device.

A guy above posted that one. It must have appeared today as well. I usually check Best Buy, Amazon, then Google Shopping. It appeared in Google Shopping when I looked, but I saw the one on Amazon first, so I pulled the trigger fast, considering how quickly others have sold out.

If you're flush then I'd splash out on http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=113599 (Sandisk Mobile Ultra Micro Secure Digital (MicroSDXC) Memory Card - 64GB - 200x (30MB/s) With Adapter). The specs claim that this could be up to 3x faster than any of the list you've got there, and the GS3 specs state SDXC compatible.
Apart from that, I'd drop that Sandisk off of my list (unless it's cheap) and go for a class 10 card. When it comes to storage I've never found the saying "get the largest amount of the fastest you can afford" to be wrong. I "upgraded" my old Transformer tablet to a 32GB Class 10 card in August of last year and it was worthwhile (although it was only a little bit cheaper than the price that 7ds above are doing the uSDXC card for - that's progress I guess! )
EDIT: Amazon have the same card 99p cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005LFT40G
Got this one

Surely any micro sd will work. I'm using the s2 at the moment and 64gb sdxc works perfectly. And I bought one for a mate and it also works on his note. So theoretically 128gb in your phone is easily accomplishable

I own a trascend 16GB class 10 from my old phone and I'm planning on using that one. I think this should be enough.

don't know about the rest, but I owned the Samsung one and it had great speeds, much better than most class 10 cards, especially when writing/reading small files (weakest point of most of these cards).
Please be aware, I have bought three Sandisk 64 gb Micro SDXC cards. I first ordered 2 of them, when i received the order, one of the cards was dead right from the box, other card was OK. I got a refund for that non functioning card and ordered another one, when it arrived, i tested it and it was OK. Today the other card from the first order died in my wive's Cowon J3 and i got a refund for it too.

Wow - sounds like you were "lucky" enough to get a bad batch of cards That said, from my limited experience Sandisk seem to normally have good quality control and customer service.
Fingers crossed that your one remaining card is a good one!
I'm keeping it for Asus Transformer Infinity

I have two of those Sandisk 64GB cards in my Note and GTab 7.7. Both have not failed once yet
General rule of thumb for flash memory. If it's too cheap then stay away. (there are way too many fake knockoffs on the market)
