No! The ICS Custom Rom are using the older GB Kernel and 2.3.6 System for now. So you have to wait until the devs updated their roms.

Thank you very much for this. Looking forward to restoring this over the 4.0.4 Chinese ICS leak.

If you are rooted you can deactivate them using titanium backup. I also restored all my apps and data with Titanium.

Flash player doesn't work for me...
It's possibile to do a clean installation with wipe?

I dont think there is flash for 4.0 yet?

If you wipe, take care of keeping your root.

I'd like to know how it went.
can I go from LATAM 2.3.6 to the 4.0.4 leak or do i have to reflash tmobile 2.3.6 then go to 4.0.4.
it says we can't go back to 2.3.6, but will we be able to go to official ics from this leak?
is root available for the 4.0.4?

I went from RetailBr 2.3.5 -> CM9 (JDaddy's builds) -> ChinaICS 4.0.4
Now I'm attempting to restore just the system partition from the german leak over the Chinese one i've already flashed since this German Leak is supposedly more functional and has less bugs.
The chinese version of ics can be rooted however people are reporting mixed results with this german version. Also the fastboot version of this cannot be downgraded from which means that it can throw you off the update path quite significantly.

Hi smilez,
To go for ICS 4.0.4 (this leak) you need to be in T-Mobile 2.3.6 but it's impossible for our Latam Razrs unfortunally.
Wait evonc tell about restoring the system over the chinese 4.0.4 ICS leak.

Best ROM for battery life?

Hi,
Just wondering what is the best ROM available at the moment either 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 for best battery life?
Thanks!
i was using [ROM][2.3.4][XXKH3] Cognition S2 v1.5.1 with great battey life,
now trying some 2.3.5 based roms but too early to tell for now
I'm experiencing great battery life with stock KI3 Rom. Anyway, i flashed it yesterday so it's too early to tell, but that would be my suggestion.

The link you provided is for the XXKI3 Kernel, not ROM. THe link for the full ROM can be fund here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277020.
I'm no expert, but I understand that you have to be root user and have clockwork recovery properly installed and funtioning to flash any ROM. Anyway, once that is done, it's really easy to flash new ROMs, just reboot in recovery ROM, and install from zip file in SD card. If this is your first ROM I strongly suggest you prepare yourself and read the articles there are about it, how to do a full backup in case anything goes wrong, etc...
Also, if it is your first time flashing a new ROM, you must understand that you may have to try various ROMs before you find the one you like, but that is the fun of it.
I've tried all the roms in the original dev section, and to be honest most are similar, depends on kernel as well. Most importantly usage, what might give one user excellent battery life might give another poor battery life. Best way is testing yourself.
I like VillainRom for its stock like features with the ability for us to tweak instead of a fully tweaked rom.

You can flash the Kernel with Odin but you may encounter problems depending on the ROM your are on. I'm not an expert in the subject of flashing diferent kernels so I mostly prefer not to do it. Instead, I keep the kernels that come with the ROMs I flash since the dev that created the ROM and chose to use that kernel knows a lot more than I do.

Plus one. Using Cognition, trying to scout and see which 2.3.5 ROM's are decent!
I have now rooted my phone and installed GT-19100_XXK13_original.zip
I am unsure if it's overwritten the kernal I flashed yesterday which was the Frankenstein one
How can I tell?
Just go to setting, about phone and look for the kernel version (you have to scroll down a bit). If it says XXKI3 somewhere it means you have succesfully flashed the kernel.

to get a proper measurement of a roms battery performance should be either with "video loop" while screen being on all the time or with the screen being off all the time... (best with both battery times)

Will I get Jelly Bean?

If I root my international S3 now, without a custom ROM, will I receive the official Jelly Bean update like an unrooted phone?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Probably Yes if you connect it to Kies, but if you wish to use OTA it's better to be on stock kernel if you don't want to have any troubles.
On S2 I never had any problems with upgrading via Kies or OTA when phone was rooted with stock kernel. On custom kernel I hadn't so much courage to try brick it this way .
If you are not sure than it's better to flash newest firmware with Odin and root it again. It's better and safer solution if you don't want to stuck while OTA upgrading (there was situations like that reported by few peoples on this forum).
i9.0.1.3k galaxy imperator
If your rooted, you'll not get any OTA updates.. That's because Samsung has gone to the next step and setup a background service which continuously track the device status (root and other stuff)..
If the status is "Modified" in settings>about> status then your not gonna get the OTA'S.
But you may try kies.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I did get OTA when the latest update came, it works just fine, you only loose root after the OTA.

Correct 100% is if you have your original or its updated firmware and you do not have root . Then whenever your phone provider pushes out the JB update it will be available on OTA and Kies .
Anything else is sheer guesswork as OTA may fail on rooted phones . Custom rom will not update .
Two easy choices .
One wait for official updates .
Two join XDA Developers forum and update what you want when you want no waiting .

I pick number 2....

Is it so? Hurmm, I'm using Omega V26. From my understanding, I'll no longer receive OTA update right?:silly: Well friend, is it AOKP's have an issue with Btooth handsfree. Tried Resurrection Remix a week (about 5 days), found out my Samsung HM1200 btooth handsfree cannot make close friend with the RR ROM. about 0.5meter away connection lost. :crying:
If you have a custom rom, how can you get OTA stock firmware update, think about it...
OTA on a stock rom, rooted just works in almost all cases

The reason for all the different answers is just that it's a configuration thing.
I got OTA updates even with a rooted and modified device (German device, firmware etc.)
Maybe flashcounter plays a role, too.
Most important is that while OTA a stock recovery is running because an OTA gets installed via recovery.
Updating via Kies worked fine for me rooted with chainfire's root, with cwm recovery...

4.0.3 is alright.
Is your phone rooted, you never flashed it right?
If so, why don't you claim warranty. These devices shouldn't go off on itself.

I think you've installed a I9100G ROM instead of a I9100 ROM.
You have an I9100 phone right? Check below the battery just to be sure.
If you do, then:
Can you get to Download Mode? My guess is yes, so you can flash a stock ROM via Odin.
Here's a guide for boot issues & whatnot if the above doesn't work.

Hello gastonw, I could restore my phone, I did some mistakes but, everything went better than expected, so here are the steps I followed
1. I've downloaded siyah (great kernel btw) and then made a backup of everything on my phone.
2. Wiped Dalvik and factory/data cache
3. I've downloaded a stock ROM ICS 4.0.3 (latin america ROM) using google (hard to find, but everything is possible)
4. Flashed with odin 3.07 and was successful...then I turned mad 'cause I thought I lost all my data but... I made a backup.
5. Installed touch-CWM 6.0.1.2
6. Restored backup from CWM and voilá my phone was completely operative and functional with all my old app and configuration
Additional info: My software asked for an update from SAMSUNG.COM and now I have ICS 4.0.4 and runs too smoothly
Thanks for your support

AW: [GSM] Jelly Bean OTA 982.124.14.XT910.Vodafone.en.EU
I was talking about the CDMA JB Kernel, not about ICS. I've not tried to switch the Kernel to ICS. I just tried to boot some Custom Roms without success.
But no big deal, till now it's running fine and i know how to get this Rom to fit my needs.

AW: [GSM] Jelly Bean OTA 982.124.14.XT910.Vodafone.en.EU
But we have to delete the CID for that, right?
I've keept my Root, so i've not tried anything.
Just one User here in Germany confirmed that the Razr Blade JB Root doesn't work on this OTA
Edit: Just spoted the Thread...you mean this, right?

No.
This is a direct ROOT method w/o p18 trick .
I mean modding the china 4.1.2 root method .
Seems like i stay with Verizon JB for a while then and btw, judging from the screenshot, seems still very ICS-esque like.. :-/
and Btw, i haven't heard any other manufacturer who pushes the Carrier OTA before (or even worse, instead of) releasing the Retail OTA except Motorola. Really weird though. But maybe Motorola knows that retail number isn't as much as carrier ones. but still..

I'm not sure why you're answering my statement (it's not a question fyi) i just stated that the UI is still ICS like. Nowhere in my post that i said anything about kernel geez..

An little Warning: You can't change to the CDMA JB Kernel after flashing this Leak. You'll stuck in AP after that (I've tried both > XMAS Leak & Soak Test OTA)
Edit: And none of the CDMA JB Roms is booting.

Does is have Spanish?
Do you know if i can use only this kernel to flash with bmm to use for some roms on this site? will this kernel be compatible with roms which previously required verizon kernel, for example, can i use this kernel with WDSEA0588 v1.76en RC JB 4.1.2 rom ?
Would this work on the following rom?
SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTCEE_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml
secure version 7?
Thanks for sharing HSD-Pilot.
Confirmed working on a ME Retail device, down in South Africa. Very happy about this.

[SOLVED][Q] After all... Got a brickable phone?

Hi, I recently bought an S2 from AT&T and I upgraded it from 2.3.4 to 4.1.2, when I install the famous eMMC Brick bug checker it says YES, insane chip.

Then I saw this so strange, so let's try another app.
With the Chainfire app "Got Brickbug ?" I had the same result.
But this is too strange to a noob like me, because I heard the bug is from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4. OK, so, is my phone going to brick if I wipe something?
Thanks in advance.

Why risk it? Just flash a known, good kernel.
Jeboo?

Is Jeboo a good kernel for 4.1.2? When you flash you have root too?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Jeboo is made specifically for ShoStock3.

To gain Root, just use Framaroot apk found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37508806&postcount=1
I recommend that u select the tab "Install SuperSU" and then select the "Aragorn" exploit. Works flawlessly for me on i777 Stock JB 4.1.2 everytime.
And as for a kernel for i777 JB 4.1.2, i suggest AJK v4.8 "NoSwap", as of this post that is the latest version. U must use the NoSwap because of the Stock i777 u r on. Here is the thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36993409&postcount=1

I installed AJK 4.9 NoSwap but still the "Yes, insane chip" message. I don't know if this is true. Please tell me. I don't know what to do.
Thanks in advance.

AJK doesn't have the brick bug, so your app is giving you wrong information. I've used AJK for ages, performed multiple factory resets from recovery and have never had any problems.
My advice is to stop relying on third party apps to tell you whether or not a custom kernel is safe. The op in ANY kernel thread generally gives you all the information you'll need, plus you can check in their respective threads to see if any user is reporting issues.

Several different Samsung phones received kernels with the cap erase bug present. Some were bricked by it, and some weren't. In an effort to understand why, it was learned that some phones (of the same model) had a susceptibility to the bug, and others didn't. The "Yes, insane chip" message simply means that your phone is susceptible to the bug. However, if you don't have a kernel with the cap erase bug present, then no harm will come to your phone.
My phone has a chip that is susceptible, but of course, I have never had anything but a known safe kernel on it. All you need to know is that as long as you use a safe kernel, you have no worries. Remember that this problem occurred quite a long time ago, and Samsung has eventually understood the problem and prevented it from re-occurring, although they have never acknowledged it publicly. Anything Jelly Bean would be safe, even stock. And anything custom would be safe, because the developer would make sure the cap erase bug was not present.
Thank you the both! I will try if there's no problem with the kernel.
Thanks.
