[Q] No Signal After Flashing A Rom - HTC EVO 3D

Someone Please Help Me,
So I Just Unlocked My Bootloader Via HTC Dev
Then I Put TWRP Recovery Onto My 3D
So Now I Try To Flash A Rom Such As Newts One S
Wipe - Install Rom - Flash Boot.IMG - Reboot
Everytime It Boots Up But There's Never Any Signal , Ever...
HBoot - 1.5
Unlocked
Any Idea's ?

Dont know if its the same for you CDMA guys, but it might be a firmware issue. Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery?
Edit: same issue here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643638

I could be wrong, but I thought s-on users had to flash the kernel and then the Rom. You could also try 4ext as your recovery (see my sig). It allows people who are still s-on to easily flash the kernel while flashing the Rom.

I had a similar issue a few months back....
I was only able to resolve by booting phone into Recovery via CMD prompts on my computer. Something about the 1.5 S-On.

HBoot 1.5 - Can't Flash Kernel Anymore?

I was able to use the HTC method to root my phone a couple of weeks ago. I was able to install one of Chad's kernels - but the rom I loaded didn't accomplish what I wanted it to.
Today - I've tried to flash a new kernel, and no matter what I do - the older version of Chad's kernel still shows up. I've even tried to install a stock kernel and no dice.
Any idea what I can do? After several hours of trying, I'm at my wit's end.
Assuming you've seen/followed the procedure in this post?

Yep, that's what I used. I can still flash any rom - but the kernel always stays the same. :-(
I had the same problem with my HBoot 1.50.
I found out after doing hours of research that you have to either use Flash Image Gui or boot into recovery through fastboot by typing:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
everytime you wanna flash a new kernel because hboot 1.5 is not fully rootable (recovery.img should be the image file of the recovery agent you want to use, ex: clockwork or twrp). So if you used the fastboot method to get to recovery, you just flash whatever rom you want in recovery mode.
I suggest flash image gui. that app makes life much easier for hboot 1.5 users. you have to pay for the app on the market but you can download the same app for free here by the creator of the app himself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045797
Enjoy!
I think I'm really screwed now. I went back through the whole process - locked and unlocked, flashed through TWRP and STILL the old kernel shows up. Even worse - now all I get is an "error" when I try to activate my wireless.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Edit: Holy cow, Flash Image GUI was the key. I don't know why TWRP stopped working for flashing my kernel, but Flash Image GUI worked!! It's really weird, but I plan to use TWRP recovery to flash ROM's and then Flash Image GUI to flash kernels afterwards.
I've got some step-by-step info that may help in the future. Its Cwm, but the basics are the same.

I might have messed up

Guys,
I followed this guide to unlock my phone and gain superuser access step by step:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
I then installed Rom Manager, and restarted in Recovery.
I placed this zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421065 onto my SD Card, and did not rename it. Once in recovery I installed that ROM. It installed with no errors however now the phone gets stuck at the htc logo screen.
Any thoughts?
What was contained that .zip file you flashed, and did you make a backup of your system before you flashed?
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx
Did you wipe data cache and dalvik? If not wipe again. If it bootloops again try pushing the kernel with fastboot.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
The .zip contains the following files:
data
devices
kernel
META-INF
sdcard
system
CHANGELOG
check_data_app
mike, can you tell me how to push the update with fastboot, I'm kind of new to all of this telephone wizardry
I can get into FASTBOOT/HBOOT/RECOVERY, however nothing I do seems to help me get past the HTC Logo. Any thoughts? Maybe I'm not waiting long enough? Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to do (if I can even do something). I might just be approaching this whole process the wrong way.
Do I install a ROM from ZIP from Recovery? Do I need to fastboot an .img file first?
Sounds like your hboot 1.5 and your phone is hanging due to you need to place a copy of your recovery in your adb folder...
The while in Hboot
Using adb with phone plugged in and debug turned on
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then wipe and flash the rom you were trying to flash...
You can't just flash a rom with recovery since your s-on
Two methods
One is fastboot boot recovery.img which is easy
Other is boot.img pain in the ass
I tried booting directly into recovery like you just said. I am using TWRP recovery.img file.
Can this be caused by the type of ROM that I am trying to install?
Everything works fine, the .zip gets applied and seems to install correctly, but it still hangs at the htc logo.
I also forgot to mention that originally I used Clockwork Recovery Mod, which i got from the market, and selected the option to boot into recovery. I don't know if that makes any difference.
You should Google shooter ruu. Get back to stock. Retry this with another shot at reading the instructions.
You must plug your phone into pc while in fastboot and give it a command to boot recovery recovery.img .
Then reflash a rom.
Read more I'm hboot 1.4 and I can still flash a 1.5 hboot correctly cause I've read how to.

If u haven't figured it out yet, see if this helps:
[Guide] My Hboot 1.50 HTC Unlock/recovery/rom/kernel flashing notes http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1495358
If u have updated your phone to the newest radio in the 2.17.651.5 update you may have problems if the Rom is based on an earlier kernel/radio like I think Warm is, but I could be wrong.
You may have flashed the Rom incorrectly & not had the kernel get flashed causing the boot loop.

[Q] How to S-OFF if the phone is not booting normally.

My phone is HTC EVO 3D, and it's bricking after the ICS update from provider. It hangs on the HTC logo. I read numerous post about flashing it with update or rom, but it's now S-ON and when I try to flash from SD card in recovery it gives me :
Invalid Operation
Rebooting Reasonem-00
As far as I know I have to get it to S-OFF before I can use recovery to flash it, but I tried revolutionary and seems like it require the phone in a working state to function. Currently when I run revolutionary with usb connected on HBOOT-1.49.0008 menu revolutionary won't connect. I don't have CWM either and I don't know how to get it onto the phone without Market Place and S-ON.
Is there anyway to get it to S-OFF so I can move forward to fix my phone with any working rom? Fastboot is connecting no problem (at HBOOT menu) but I don't know if it allows me to flash or turn it to S-OFF.
Thanks in advance.
Gil
I don't have your phone but I know that if u search it you might be able to get the official ics update for your device and the put it on your sd card and update from the boot loader and your phone would probably boot up and be fine but like i said Google it bc you probably have to rename the file something special. I'm kinda a noob so sorry if this didn't help
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
the RUU from Rogers wouldn't update either.
I'm not able to flash the Clockwork Mod to the recovery using fastboot.
I tried flashing King Cobra but after the flash the phone still doesn't boot. I'm still on S-ON. Revolutionary still won't connect...
I read this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560279&page=21
that says I can flash the rom with S-ON with 4Ext recovery. But I can't do anything with the downloaded apk file as my phone doesn't boot up properly to the system. Where can I find the recovery img to flash it manually with fastboot?
Thanks.
Fixed this by:
1) Getting the official RUU on ICS.
2) Connect USB in HBOOT
3) Use fastboot to relock the bootloader
4) Run RUU on Windows and successfully flashed everything
So seems like S-ON pluse unlocked bootloader means no no to both official rom and custom rom.

[q] help! Phone wont past sprint logo after kernel update!!!

i was previously running Meanrom 6.4 rooted S-ON and i decided to S-OFF my phone
i have RUU my phone and unlock the bootloader through dirtyracun s-off but when i was about to run the final step which is RabiesShot.exe(to S-OFF), my laptop have barely any battery left so i decided to not do that for the time being.
after that, I am still running the RUU 2.13.651.1 - HBOOT 1.19 without Root or any mods.
I decided to flash the "PJ75IMG - Stock Kernel". i renamed it to PJ75IMG and put it on my sdcard and it did successfully flash.
the problem is that my phone wont boot past Sprint Logo(it would suddenly black screen of death).
also, since i have no way of removing the PJ75IMG on the SD card, everytime i try to access recovery, it automatically tries to flash that file then it would exit and reboot automatically.
the only way for me to skip that part is to remove the sdcard.
my TWRP is also gone so i cannot flash any roms.
i have no card reader so i cannot place any stuff on my micro sd. :crying:
i though about downgrading the kernel to the previous working version through fastboot but when i looked for the files, they say downgrading would result in a brick.
is there any way i can maybe fastboot jellybean or ics or the kernel to make my phone work again?
edit:
if i did flash the Jellybean with my current kernel, is there a way to achieve S-OFF?
i also havent found stock jellybean rom that isnt rooted

If i were you, i would go back through the s-off process if you can, that will get you back to stock and s-off, then install latest twrp, and then instal OMJ's custom release of the new JB update, it will give you root and the new update, Install the radios since you are s-off and you are good to go.
You need to finish that last step to gain s-off though lol. You should have waited.
Also, im not sure if that is just the kernel, but if it is, just the kernel and nothing else. Then you should be able to do s-off fine still.
Someone correct me if im wrong, i just learned this whole s-off process today so i could do the update.

the thing is the phone wont even boot past the HTC Logo then it would display black screen of death
edit: i found through google saying the error is rekated to the kernel version and i should downgrade first.
is there any safe/reliable method of downgrading the latest kernel from ota (i did not flash the one with the latest hboot but i am still s-on)
i tried to Fastboot RUU but i got an error saying FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)

I had the same problem.
1.remove the PJ75IMG file from exrtenal sd card.
2.reboot to fastboot pres factory reset
3. immidietly press and hold volume down, this should get you to recovery.
4. wipe
5. restore a backup rom
6.reboot
It worked for me after hours of trying other methods.
I just went through a bootloop mess. What i did to get my phone back was to use fastboot and use commands (on my pc) like
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (for TWRP)
fastboot flash boot boot.img (for Kernel)
That got my phone back up and working.
Have you tried this?

ok i believe, fastboot should get you twrp. As will it get you the boot flash.
Fastboot flash zip (latest twrp)
Fastboot flash boot (ICS sense rom's boot.img extracted from zip) (this will get you the kernel)
Reboot hold vol down and power to get to bootloader
select recovery
Twrp wipe and flash ICS rom you got the boot img from. (this will take a bit because it wont install kernel, but you already have it from step 2)
you should boot into the rom. then re-do Dirty Raccoon installation, go all the way through, and you should now be s-off
re-install twrp
Flash radios in bootloader (fastboot flash zip (.zip for radios) (link one from Original android development jelly bean flashables post) (optional)
Go to twrp, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, wipe syste.
Twrp Flash OMJ's custom JB release of this update, or stock with goodies, or jewel-swag.
Wipe cache/Dalvic
reboot.
I think this should work but i would immagine you've tried it already. Im running the new kernel and am experiencing no problems with it.
If you're s-off just use fastboot to flash a new kernel, no need to do a factory reset or anything else.
The kernel and ROM must be installed as a pair, just upgrading one isn't going to work.

Please Help me HTC Evo 3D GSM Bootloop,Cannot enter recovery,S-On 1.53.007

Hi All
Please please help me...
I was on stock ICS rom hboot 1.53.007 (S-On),battery drained out..and suddenly it started bootlooping.
Now i am in bootloop for 3 weeks.I have tried many recovery methods like installing ICS ruu, flashing boot.img,
I have read many threads, tried many steps, but still bootlooping.
Please help me..
I am able to enter the bootloader and i am htc dev unlocked.
Thank you
Sorry for my bad English
Try ruu again, also remove SD card and test.
Thank you so much for the reply,
I have tried it again....still in bootloop..
I think my 3d does not recognise boot.img.
Is there anything I could do to recover my 3d.
It would be good if you wrote which method you used to unlock the bootloader.
----new info----
Have you read the whole thread HTC EVO 3D GSM Boot loop?

Hi Thank you for the info..
Would you be able to share the download link for the RUU, which he( digitalyyy) may have used in the above thread (16 th post).
i have already tried this one http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.exe, but no success.
i had used the htcdev unlock method:
fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
Someone Please help me...
Need suggestion
Sorry for the bump.. I'm pretty much in the same boat with @princeof, stuck in boot loop and can't access recovery. I've tried these methods, but to no avail:
Flashed another recovery through fastboot (cwm 4.014 / cwm 5.020 / twrp 2.0, just the same).
Flashed boot.img (from my current Cool-ICS v18 ROM). Even after both of these are successfully flashed, it still goes into boot loop. I then use fastboot commmand to reboot-bootloader, try to access both boot.img and recovery, but still no dice, it'll just reboot the device into another boot loop.
Flashed RUU (tried the one suggested in the post above and another version that used to work); no luck.
Unlocked bootloader
Shooteru S-OFF
Hboot 1.49.0007
Is there any other method that you guys can recommend? I do have Nandroid backup, so if I can just get into recovery then I'm all set!
Edit: Finally got it to work!
Through PhilZ recovery, I wiped everyhing in sight (lol) and was able to use custom restore to partially restore my Nandroid backup (since it won't restore .android_secure, I got to extract it manually). Also, before the restore process, I need to disable MD5 check, coz it keeps complaining about missing fsinfo.md5 even though the nandroid.md5 is there. After that, I finally able to flashed & go into 4Ext to do a full restore properly.
