I have been running ICS leaks on S-ON with the 'fixes' but would rather just run the new firmware and radios. I cannot find a thread how how to use the stock firmware and radios. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!
Your title says you are s-off with gb firmware, then you say you are s-on running ics leaks with fixes? If you are s-off, just run the newest leak ph98img.zip file in hboot.

So just follow these instructions...
Copy ROM to SD Card AND GB Firmware Patch to ROOT of SD Card
Reboot to recovery
wipe data / Factory Reset
Flash ROM <-- using recovery instead of fastboot right?
Flash GB Firmware Patch
Reboot
Profit!
From this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642217
I have already done the above flashing through Amon-RA and noticed that my SD card was not mounted at boot.
I am wanting to run a ICS kernel based on some issues that I had when I was S-ON with a previous 'fix' and an ICS leak. How about the radios? These don't seem to be included in this ROM.
The bottom line is that I would like to be as current as possible.
Thanks again!
If you want the new firmware you have to flash the PH98IMG.ZIP file for the new leak. Scott's Rom won't give you the new firmware or radios. Follow this thread.

If you are currently s-off, running GB firmware and have an ICS rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25829303&postcount=2
Thank you for the help. I have successfully applied the new leak, unlocked the bootloader again and am up and running.
I have been having issues with my proximity sensor in the ICS leaks, that's about the only problem that I am having.
When I first loaded the latest leak I experienced that the SD mount wasn't sticking. I then loaded the "new firmware patch" and am still having this issue. Is this common?

So if we were s-off on stock gb and ran the patchld firmware patch and installed CR 4.4, then flashed the new kernel and radios from the newest ics leak, are we still on gb firmware, or are we on ics firmware?. I'm a slow learner I suppose, and I'm sorry to have to bother anyone with this question. Still unclear after reading link.

I used flashed the leak through the boot loader then had to unlock the bootloader, flashed the new Among RA, and ran the new firmware patch.

There is lots of concern about kernels and flashing them with various main versions. There are 3 basic main versions floating around:
Shipped Rezound - Main Version = 1.02.605.6
OTA Rezound - Main Version = 2.01.605.11
Leaked RUU for Android 4.0.3 - Main Version = 3.10.605.7
I am not going to mess with the leaked RUU for 4.0.3 but I can help with the other two. So, all of the following can be flashed in recovery and will install the library then reboot to bootloader to install the boot.img.
This will at least help you install a complete kernel for whatever situation you are in to cure things like WiFi broken.
Choose the one that best fits your situation, copy it to your SD Card, reboot to recovery and choose the Install Zip option. When it reboots to bootloader press power to start and then follow the instructions.
Currently running a Gingerbread ROM before installing the OTA:
Main Version = 1.02.605.6
Currently running a ICS ROM before installing the OTA:
Main Version = 1.02.605.6
Currently running a Gingerbread ROM after installing the OTA:
Main Version = 2.01.605.11
Currently running a ICS ROM after installing the OTA:
Main Version = 2.01.605.11
NOTE: You must be HTC UnLocked
If you are running the stock OTA stick with that kernel
By the way,
The GB kernel is the unlocked kernel for ADB when phone is active.
The ICS kernel is the one for ICS 4.0.1
thanks for writing this up Nils, I think it will save alot of problems and questions arising from flashing different roms !

I assume your at the 3.x main version then. I can get you to the stock kernel but can't change the main version with this approach. You could try the gb kernel from the released version and see if you get the mainver failure. If you do you can use the manual approach to get to mainver back to 1.02.605.6
I'm currently on rooted stock shipped Rezound, no OTA. I'm having trouble flashing back to CleanICS, ineffibilis ICS and ineffibilis Gb roms. I was previously on CleanICS. Then decided i wanted to go back to a Gb ROM. So what I did was flash a GB boot.img then I tried to flash ineffibilis Gb, but then the installation gets aborted in recovey. I was able to restore my stock rooted GB ROM though.
I tried to flash your kernel for "stock Gb Rezound, before OTA", but I'm also getting a Mainver failure.
What do I need to do to Be able to flash ineffibilis GB ROM? I'm currently on Gb stock no OTA. Shouldn't I be able to flash other Gb roms without worrying about mainver?
Will the "curently running ICS before OTA" also install the new firmware?

In my case, I was on stock with OTA 2.01.605.11, and am installing Senseless 2.1 ICS. By your terminology, would I go with "running an ICS ROM after installing OTA", or stick to the stock kernel per the final bold statement?

If your going to the ICS ROM you need to flash the ICS kernel.
The last statement simply means if you are running the OTA don't bother with any other kernels.
Gotcha. Thanks Nils
So to go from your ICS back to a stock rooted nandroid restore what would be needed? The main version thing is confusing.

To go back to stock from my ICS ROM as long as you have not installed the OTA just requires running the stock RUU. You should not have to relock or anything since you still have the stock radio and hboot.
Now if you installed the OTA that is another story and there is a whole thread about that.
Part of my reason for starting this thread was to help others with main version problems.
The second reason was to help myself and other developers determine when we could safely cut our ROM's over to the OTA main version even if we did not use the new OTA kernel.
The downloads for these kernels, even after just 1 day, clearly indicates that most people have either accepted the OTA or installed the OTA ROM on their own. In other words, most of the downloads are for the versions that are based on the OTA main version to be installed on custom ROM's that use the old main version kernels.
I will watch the downloads for a few more days then decide what to do with my ROMs

Do the nand restore and flash the GB kernel with old main version.
Nils,
Just wanted to clarify one thing. I relocked, flashed original ruu, accepted ota, unlocked again and rooted. still using this rom which is essentially bone stock rooted. If I flash CR based off latest ota and later decided to restore nandroid of the bone stock, do I flash this kernel as well?
Currently running a Gingerbread ROM after installing the OTA:
Main Version = 2.01.605.11
my apologies for the question but I wondered in the case you are restoring a nandroid, do you need to also flash the kernel before restoring the nandroid. Hope I made myself clear. lol.
Ok, I am S-offed and running CleanRom DE 1.3, and on GB firmware. How do I flash the new Leak? Do I just install it in H-boot? Or do i flash it in Recovery? Do i still need too Unlock in order to re-flash the recovery IMG? I'm just confused because of the h-boot versions, and also, if I flash the leak, do I still have to flash the "Old_firmware_patch"?
Follow these directions, no need to flash the whole thing unless you want to run the leak vs CleanRom DE.

If you upgrade to the ICS firmware using my directions and you install ICS roms, no, you won't need to do any firmware patches anymore. If you happen to go back to a GB rom with the ICS firmware, then yes you would.
I saw this thread and was hoping that, since the OP looks like he has his questions answered, that it looked like a decent thread title to hijack so I don't have to start another thread. I posted this on the S-Off thread but no reply so far. I want to run the newest 5/8 leak, including radios and firmware, with 3.14 based ICS ROMs. I also want to get going on S-Off.
I am currently S-On with htcdev unlock, GB firmware, on CleanROM Kang Tapped Edition with GB firmware patch.
What is a good way to get onto the latest and greatest?
Should I relock and run the 3.14 RUU before attaining S-Off? Or is it easier to install a GB ROM, then S-Off? I read that people are having trouble with GB firmware on ICS ROMs with S-Off.
Is v0.4 of the ControlBear release with its included jb_hboot considered ideal if we want a bootloader with full functionality, including the ability to run fastboot commands?
Sorry if this has been answered 1000 times already, I feel like I'm sinking in a sea of posts...
you are good to do the s-off routine right now... unlocked, rooted...
do the GB firmware s-off. flash the hboot if you want, if it fails, it's because you got the wrong hboot for your firmware... just reflash the right boot.img via fastboot and you will be good to go.
EDIT: obviously doing a GB ruu before s-off'ing, will remove any variables from the equation

Okay, So I've got s-off, unlocked, rooted, all of that stuff going on right now. I've been reading through and I'm so confused on how to upgrade from stock GB to ICS. I see so many methods for different roms, Can someone point me in the direction in I need to go? I'm currently running software number 2.01.605.11 w/ PRI 1.13_002, 1.88_002
Depends what you want to do....
If you dont care for new radios and such, flash an ics Rom of your choosing and then flash the old firmware patch.
If you want new radios run an ics ruu (2 times, 1st time only updates some stuff and you'll have issues unless you do it 2 times) then flash an ics Rom of your choosing.
Also upgrade to amon ra 3.15 if you are on an older version. 3.15 is updated for the changes in ics

Ok, I would like the latest RUU, but do I flash through recovery, or rename and flash through hboot or something?
EDIT: I currently am running Ra 3.15
Flash through hboot as a ph98IMG
Run it twice then you'll need to put amon ra 3.15 again.
I'll attach a copy of amon ra 3.15..... You can rename it to ph98img and flash it in bootloader the same way. Or you can use whatever way you prefer.

Thanks, That's what I thought. I use to be familiar with this when I was using my thunderbolt. But "upgraded" to the LG spectrum and there was absolutely no development for that phone for the 4 months I had it. So I lost touch. BTW never get that phone. I honestly hated it more than any apple product...which to me is a lot of hate
Ok, so I flashed the 3.14.605.5 Ice Cream Sandwich ZIP RUU, I'm still s-off, unlocked and running RA 3.15 . but now it saying I'm not rooted.
Can't you root it again through AmonRa??

Hey everyone, I was just curious if it's safe to flash the ICS global RUU if I'm on the modified JB firmware? Edit: My current firmware is the latest modified ICS leak, not the GB version.
You should be good to go. The bricks were from turning the secure flag back on while on a modified hboot

if you are s-off and you are flashing the ruu. it will no brick unless you pull the battery when its updating.
make sure you are 60% or higher on battery life.
make sure you back up internal storage, ruu WILL wipe it automatically.
Cool, just wanted to double check. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!
You don't need to do the whole RUU if you're s-off, just use the Firmware thread in the dev section, there's already one packaged with the new firmware and the 2.25 Jbear hboot.
Hello,
I am experiencing some issues installing various ROMs on my Rezound. It is S-Off, I use HBoot.
With the following ROMs:
- PKMN_VIGOR_VENASAUR_3.2.0_51412
- Tonked_Rom_Bamf_Blue
- Tonked_World_Edition_V2
- Vigor_Stock_Doedexed_3.14.605.5
- CleanROM ICSE 3.5
My dial keyboard makes the phone rebooting when I press a number. When I try to call someone by clicking on the contact, once the call screen appears, the phone reboots. It also happened at various times, such as when writing a message. As you can imagine, that is quite annoying ^^
I considered changing an Android package, but I don't know if it is really possibe and how. And most importantly, I would like to have some advice before trying it.
Thank you in advance !

HBoot : 2.25.2525
Radio (baseband version) : 0.95.00.1118r/0.95.00.1223r
OpenDSP : v10.6.0.7611.00.0919
Android version : 4.0.4
Kernel version : 3.0.42-gae63fa3
Mod version : AOKP-Neo1.5 Linaro
I am currently on an other ROM than those I mentioned having a problem. But I think those ROMs are ICS. I don't think the other numbers are dependent from the ROM, are they? If yes, I can go back to any of those ROMs to give you the right numbers.
And.... I'm not sure, which number is the firmware? I can't figure out if ROM and firmware are the same things. I heard it was, but I also heard about people flashing a ROM and then applying a recent firmware.
You should run the latest ruu.. it'll make everything stock, while stock do a factory data reset. Then you'll have to flash your recovery again. Firmware is: the combination of the radios hboot and Rom and recovery together.. when people refer to firmware they are generally talking about radios and hboot. I.e. hboot2.27 with radios 2.22 is the latest.. from your hboot and radio starts your on the old gb firmware as where the link I gave you will put you on global ICS firmware.. then you'll flash your recovery and Rom from that point.
Your android version typically apples to what your Rom states. I.e. I'm viperrez which is android 4.0.3.

Ok, so I flashed the firmware from the link you gave me, it installed among other things the new radios and hboot (I'm now hboot 2.27 and radio 2.22). And I'm back to stock. And... everything works great !! Thus, I needed to have a global phone (european GSM network), and I was surprised that I simply could put my phone into GSM from... settings menu.
