Contact pic resolution - HTC Rezound

so, since we all know the asshats at Google won't get off their lazy asses and actually fix a problem that's been an issue since the inception of android (yes, thats the 96x96 pixel Gmail contact photos that look like complete garbage on our high def screens), i've tried taking the matter into my own hands while trying to be able to keep syncing contacts.
so, has anyone found a server or email that will sync contact pictures back at the NORMAL resolution you upload them to?
my grad school email address uses outlook web, so i can use microsoft exchange to sync my stuff back and forth..problem is, that syncs contact photos really low as well when my phone syncs back..and i can't add photos from teh Outlook web app.
what other email providers sync stuff, and possibly sync contact pics at a NORMAL resolution?

I also wanna know...
As I remember, the contact pics are fine on GB stock rooted rom.
I've flashed to ICS now, and pics are garbage.

Yeah they look much better on CM9 and AOKP. There actually full screen contact photos

Use haxsync if you are on ics. Your pics will look perfect if you are syncing from face book. If you are on gbread use friend caster pro and it will pull HQ photos to fill that little box with a clean pic.

That resolution issue bugs the heck out of me too and it's astounding that google hasn't fixed this for years (bugged me on my old DINC too and that wasn't a HD phone).
I downloaded Full Screen Caller ID and you can replace any contact pic with one of your choice at a high resolution. I've found the program a tiny bit buggy on the Rezound (may have to do with my Call Confirm app which prevents accidental calls), but it does look good on full screen vs the tiny box on stock...

You guys can try out "BIG! caller ID" in the app store. Of course, the Pro version is better, but It's worth a look.

UltimateCallScreen HD is pretty good too

yeah I was looking into those apps... they replace the standard phone app right?
I'd use haxsync, but I don't have Facebook so I have nothing to sync to lol

Big Caller ID is probably the buggiest of the 3 apps out there like this. Worked fine the first few times, then just stopped working at all, even after uninstalling and reinstalling.
Ultimate Call Screen seems to work the best for the Rezound.

HaxSync working for anyone?

Anyone have HaxSync working? I loved this app on my Epic 4G, it would download high-res contact photos from Facebook and use them instead of the low-res ones from Google.
Every time I try to set it up I get the annoying "Unfortunately HaxSync has stopped"
I got it to work no problem, but it has the same crappy quality pictures that come with the FB app contact sync.

Yeah, I don't get it. On AOSP with Haxsync the pictures were beautiful. On Sense 4 it's just garbage, even when manually choosing the "Haxsync" picture in the inividual contact settings.
yup same problem here. strange how it worked on ics leaks and kangs but on an official shipped ics, it doesn't
I too am interested in this...
On ViperRom right now, it is not giving me higher quality images.
ALTHOUGH... I seem to remember before I rooted that it DID give better pics?
Ok I was able to get it to install. Had to uninstall, reboot (probably to clear the cache), then re-install.
It's not syncing my contacts though (0 contacts shown in Sense People) but it looks like that's a problem with everyone right now according to the HaxSync Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/HaxSync
Ok just checked their Facebook Page seems to be up and running. It's also downloading high res photos on my stock rom

Yes. You have to switch the photos though manually to use the haxsync photo instead of the Google photo.
This works for me too. Super annoying to have to manually switch pictures on every contact. Has Anyone figured out how to set haxsync pics to default?

Problem with Facebook contact pics and 3rd party sms apps

Hi,
I just got my S3 a few days ago and I noticed something weird. Ive been using Handcent SMS for years now and never really had any problems with it. Now, I dont see any contact pics in the app unless they're from the Google profile or from the phone. If I set the pic from Facebook it doesn't show up. The exact same thing happens using Go SMS.
Also, why are the Facebook pics such crappy quality? ;/
Thanks for any help.
Anybody having a similar issue?

Thats because your screen is too big
Facebook avatars aren't that large on the site to start with, so appear slighly blury on these displays.
managed... you have to sync the contacts with Haxsync everything works fine! money well spent!

[Q] Hi res. picture in Google Contacts

Hi,
Is anybody know how to get hi-resolution picture loaded into google contacts? Everytime I upload a hi-res picture "google" schrimp it so it look like crap if I use as contact photo??
This has asked again and again and Google doesn't seem to have this as a high priority. If you upload the hi res picture directly into the web version of Google Contacts it will convert it to low res. However, if you update the picture directly on your phone it will stay as a high res picture. Unfortunately if you wipe flash your phone you will need to change all your pictures back to hi res since when you resync your contacts it will bring down the low res images again.
Hi,
Yes I know.....I just thought that there maybe was a thirdpart app out that could do the job.............I got nearly 250 contacts.............it is a pain to edit all and update photo, just to do it again afrher flashing!!!!!
Preaching to the choir. I have updated my photos more times than i can count. Thankfully I am on CM9 now and planning to stick with it for a while which should minimize the amount of times I need to do this. I am amazed that one of the selling points of ICS at their launch event was the hi res contact photos but they are not updating Gmail to accept the sync. I suppose they had planned on a greater adoption of Google + but still i should be able to choose the photos I want and keep the synced with the cloud.

Someone on the CM9 thread just brought this up. Haxsync from the market works as an alternative, I've been using it since native syncing was removed.
FYI.

Contact Picture in better Quality

Hi,
is there a way to get better pictures for the contacts ?
thanks,
syd...
By using high quality pictures to begin with.........
You dont,t say
But i already assigend hi def to my contacts but after i changed to another rom
the pictures are now crapy again. Also wenn i look the contacts up in google contacts the pictures are very very low def
Reading some reviews of jelly bean, it said it is spose to fix this. By the sounds of it regardless of what image you use for your contact it said currently google converts it to like a 90x90 image (about that anyway). Jb will supposedly use a 720x720 image, so much better.

Download an app called contact sync that allows you to download 512x512 versions of your fb contact images.
Friendcaster has an option to sync the facebook pictures in high res.
anybody know of a non Facebook option? I sync between Outlook and Google contacts and I get the same problem.
use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync&hl=en
high resolution picture and also able to sync fb status update into contact..
Is this what you are looking for?

How do you feel about Hangouts (GTalk update)?

The update available in the Play Store drastically changes Google Talk. I haven't come around on it yet; feels weird.
How do you like it?

It's better. Just because you can now send pics with the app unlike before with gtalk.

Its tolorable, but can I for gods sake get back the ability to hide my offline contacts and for f***ks sake, the contacts who don't even have a Talk/Hangout/G+ account?
WTF Google? It's just got a huge list of contacts that you cant even contact ?
I miss the status messages.
Cant go invisible
Why are G+ groups mixed in with the contacts? Make it a drop tab or something.
Only thing going for it is the ability to finally send images.

Gtalk is quickly dying, and hangouts is not getting any better. Like a few have said the inability to view your online contacts is a really big deal. I have no clue how my landline non data contacts will ever be able to accept my hangout request, why must I be spamed by people I might make a phone call to once a year, I could care less if they are using hangouts. The people I talk to on gtalk enjoy using gtalk for its cross-platform ability and the nice services provided by google, sure we could use another "Instant Messenger" service like we did before Gtalk, do we really want to? looks like decision day is quickly arriving, google just about 100% killed Gtalk on android 4.3.
