I hear a lot of folks saying "oh, I'll wait till the white one comes out" ....where did anyone read that there will be white ones? Is that just based on current brand trends of releasing white phones?.... Or that the og Evo came in white (kinda,was just the batt door) later after launch?
Assumption from the experience with the OG EVO & 3D.
Expecting it to come from Amazon/Best Buy/Radio Shack 1st or exclusively.

Same here...! Each year a white version has come out 2weeks or a max of month later.
If one does come out about a month later it wil be just in time for my upgrade to kick in

Every phone I've owned since the HTC Touch has been black.
I've been going caseless too & have done extremely well, I'm hoping to also dodge the fingerprint catcher.
I may just do a nice, matte white skin.
While pretty the white ones don't help me as I work in a dirty environment and catches dirt way to fast eventually gets purplely

It's funny cause I went to a radioshack today and asked about the evo lte and told em I'd be waiting on the white one. They seriously told me they were getting white ones and everyone else on launch day. I told them there's only black available on launch day as I've read no where that there is any availability for a white device yet. And they kept telling me that they were. These places need to train their workers better lol

I'm not gonna lie, I hate white phones. I don't need everyone asking to see my iPhone.
But even if I liked them, waiting 3 months would be tough. I'd start to get impatient and lose hope after one month. But with how quickly technology gets outdated, waiting 3 months would be crazy (to me). Your phone would already get bumped from top status, haha. Not worth it to me, especially considering how many people get cases anyway.

Yeah I've never enjoyed the status of having a contender for "best phone out" before, since I got my EVO only one year ago. However, I do presume that it will only last about 6 months, maybe less. However, I'm pretty confident this phone will stay incredibly relevant for 2 years, just as the OG EVO did. I still like my phone better than a lot of other people's phones. Thanks to the devs anyway, otherwise I'd be bashing my head against the wall like I was the first month (before I discovered xda).

It's not a bad wait, as your waiting out potential bugs.
The scariest thing about the wait for white is: any patches to any 3rd party unlocking (i.e. Revolutionary) or a new Hboot in tow.

yeah I saw that too, probably the last htc phone i will buy.
the phone may not be as solid as I had hoped (so many issues with gb), but I love this phone a ton.

T-Mobile tens to make devices discontinued for a while but bring back. Remember the HD2? That got discontinued, then back, then discontinued again, then back like how many times? Plus it's the less popular white one. Not a big shock.

These are matters of opinions which don't always go well lol. I wouldn't be surprised with in the next hr a war about black vs white broke out...
I personally love the white verison, but I'd imagine it is the less popular one, which is good to me as I'd rather stand out in a crowd.
This also was mentioned quite awhile ago. I have had my Amaze for the better part of a month and bought it knowing it would be discontinued.

When I went to buy my Amaze, I wanted the black, but they didn't have any in stock, so I got the white instead, and have to say that the coloring is quite pleasant.
I also bought a D30 case for it, and that is black, so I guess I have the best of both worlds!

It has a profound effeect on my opinion, and matches the minimalist model that has earned Apple many monies.

Evo 3D owners, who will be jumping ship for the EVO One? My area I live in will be getting LTE in the KC roll out so definitely a plus. My main concern is that the phone can be S-OFF... I hope somebody can find a way. I waited to get the EVO 3D til it got S-OFF... but that LTE will be so tempting.

Oh my.... they bought me with the ICS x Sense 4.0 UI.... and the 16 gb internal memory.
I will. This will definitely be good since they aren't going "LOLOLOLO QUAD CORE 5000GHZ" and are actually improving features that need to be improved, like screen resolution, etc.
I won't, the EVO 3D is perfectly fine for my current needs despite the lack of ROM choice for the GSM version . I will hold out for a new device with removable battery, external memory card support etc.

Yes, both my wife and I will both be getting the new phone. I'm the type of person that has to have the next thing out, exactly when it comes out. I'm hoping we get both white and black models so I can get each for my wife and I. We've never owned that same model phone at the same time, and that would just be irritating if we did and couldn't tell the difference without turning it on.
I am kinda of disappointed that the car dock that I bought for my EVO 3D won't work anymore. I like being able to drop the phone right in the dock and use it for navigation and Pandora, but it's whatever. I'll just get used to putting it back in my lap or whatever.

dood, phone has been discontinued by tmo, it's not got much life in it. I just happens to be one of the 2 soon to be 3 available hspa+ 42mbps devices! once the s drops you can expect more price drops on the Amaze.
The phone may be going EOL but it's probably their best phone and is still comparable to the new One S. Also those ads are completely one sided, note that they are using an iPhone for Sprint which is only a 3G phone. I used to be on Sprint before switching to T-Mobile and their 4G service was decently quick... if you could get it.

My friend up here has an EVO3D and never switches 4G ON. I asked him why and he said "by the time it even connects or finds 4G signal, the web pages could already have been loaded on 3G"
Don't know how accurate that is but Idk why it would take so long to connect.

That would only be the case if you switch it on to check one page then shut it back off again. It does take about 30 seconds or so to connect to 4g, much like it does to connect to WiFi. Personally that sounds like a dumb excuse to not use 4g. We don't have 4g here but if we did, I'd likely leave it on all the time since my phone is near a charger all day anyways.
Shame the amaze is end of the line I actually want to go back to it. The galaxy s 2 with ICS is nice, but for me I really enjoyed messing with the amazes camera and thought sense was really cool.

The Black Amaze is not EOL. Only the white version is. I personally would choose this device over the ONE S anyday.

It is nice even tho its a leak for the at&t skyrocket the awesome devs have got it working pretty perfectly for the T-Mobile s2. Ics just has subtle changes that really polish the way android works and steps performance up real well. I really like sense tho I use to have the sensation then the amaze, ended up selling the amaze but wish I would have kept it n just sold the s2 instead.

Yeah true, i dont really care for the lack of development considering im running NRGs rom and its perfect. I just havent had anything besides HTC and one moto device since the samsung behold 2 was out and that was a long time ago lol. Been wanting to try Nokia and maybe a Samsung

I am very interested in it, Asus is one of my favorite companys specially for gaming, i love their ROG series. i have the Asus G74 laptop right now and plan on getting the Asus Tytan.
Note that its never good to get any phone when its just released. i wait a few months for all the problems (if it has any) to be fixed and development to start and prices to drop. while the samsung galaxy ii already been out for quite a while.

edit: look at their website now. they updated the information about it. http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/ you can get 102 hours of battery from padfone (the phone), the station (tablet), and the station dock (keyboard). they all use the hardware of the padfone (cpu/gpu/ram/camera), but they all have their own battery. also its all one data package (from the phone). this is going to get huge IMO.
the camera should be better than the amaze as well, has the same aperture, but a better lense made my asus.
Well today I made it a point to go to the Sprint Corporate store to handle a EVO 4G LTE, and left totally amazed. I didn't pick one up because last year my EVO 3D performed like crap when I 1st picked it up. It was freezing and dropping calls until I replace it with a Photon.
So I figure I don't need a phone now and will wait a few weeks to see what head aches it has software wise with bugs. This is because 15 days is not log enough to find bugs and its unfair to buy a phone and be stuck with a a fail.
That said I like the thought of GSIII, but after handling this phone and how gorgeous it looks I say that the LCD 2 screen, SVDO and HD voice makes it the best android device on the market along with its camera performance. When I 1st looked at it I thought it was a demo unit with the screen that brilliant until I picked it up and interacted with it.
Speeds are blazing, there is no lag sense is not over whelming, and I just can't see anyone hating on this device based on my interface. for the 1st time I don't feel the need to use any other launcher. I feel that if there are no bugs that I can just use it and go until the next 800 LTE drops.
I barley use Wimax so going to this until LTE arrives in NYC will be fine for me. The user experience is that good IMHO. Some of you think sticking with and old device is better until LTE arrives, and that's ok. I say if you want a light weight phone that performs superbly until LTE don't be afraid to try this. Just hope that there are no bugs, or that they are just minimal like I am.

Just gave my 3D to my wife and picked up the EVO LTE. Screen is amazing. Phone is very well put together and very thin! Makes the 3D feel like a dated bulky dinosaur.

I think it was Android Central where an HTC executive said the HTC ONE will be their only flagship device this year and it won't be modified for carriers..... So where does the leave the EVO line?? Carriers always leave their best phones for a summer release and the ONE comes out next month.....No way Sprint won't have a flagship device releasing in May/June!!!!

Its confirmed that it's definitely a March release....we just don't know what day!!!!! It would be horrible if that's their summer release because I know I'm willing to wait for a device with the s800 and I'm sure most geeks feel the same way and HTC isn't Apple....geeks are HTC's bread and butter!!!!

You could be right, however I think there is another situation about to happen. As far as marketing and hyping up a phone, HTC will only be making noise about the One. So you won't see any big shows, commercials, or anything else from HTC unless its about the One. That is HTC baby for 2013.
But....that doesn't mean that Spint won't contract HTC to design an EVO with lets says a snapdragon 800, and some other goodies. But the marketing, and hype will all have to come from sprint. And for that reason, I am not sure how that will go over. But I do think sprint will contine the EVO, but expect no noise from HTC about it.

Nah, I doubt sprint would even consider that. LG doesn't have that kind of backing ot credibility to pull off an EVO. No history of updates, pro/con development, or releasing of source. Not sure many would opt to grab that over the One. I know I wouldn't.

That looks really nice to me! I've never owned an LG phone, but they have definitely been improving their Android game lately! While my next phone will definitely have at least a 5"display, I'm not so sure I want a 5.5" display as the Note 2 actually felt a little larger than I was expecting (and I had expected that I'd love that size display). Only complaint with the Optimus G Pro is that the display is only IPS, instead of IPS Plus/Super IPS. Both of my current tablets have an IPS Plus display, being the Asus Prime (TF201) and the Asus Infinity (TF700T). That article even mentions that the display is not as bright as they would have liked, and IPS Plus does exactly that - increases display brightness. I guess we'll see what all Sprint has planned for this spring/summer, as that will be 1 year for me with the Evo LTE and that's about how often I've been purchasing a new phone for the last 6 years. So far though, the Optimus G Pro is in the front of the pack. I'm hoping HTC releases a phone with a 5"+ display soon very soon, as they have officially said that they will be producing phones with 5"+ displays this year.

The One is HTC's only flagship phone, not Sprint's. I'm sure they're working with Sprint on a phone that'll be released in the summer to continue the EVO name. Remember, HTC had a couple different "flagship" phones last year with the One line. Now, they're sticking with just one phone (no pun intended). Now, I have been wrong before, but this is just my speculation. I'd buy the One if an EVO isn't in the cards.
If the One will be HTC's only flagship then the EVO is dead, unless they release one and it's a mid-tier device. If that was the case, why would you buy it?
Face it guys, it's over for the EVO.
As for Sprint, the only rumored device I see potentially topping the One is the Moto X. This is purely speculation seeing as there are no released specs, but I believe it won't be exclusive to any one carrier and Google wants to offer a non-Nexus device to beat Samsung's flagship. Too bad we probably won't get any details until May because I really want the One next month. It would suck waiting until May just to hear its not as superior as rumored, or that it won't go to Sprint anyway.
Yea, the EVO line is dead. I enjoyed it, but it's time to go. This will make advertising, accessories and everything else much easier.
I know people like the body design of the 4g LTE, but I for one think the one X on at&t was a much much better looking phone. The HTC ONE looks even better than that. I'll miss the kickstand, but I'm tired of explaining to people what an evo is and why it's actually still part of HTCs flagship line. It makes zero sense to keep making carrier specific models.

I for one am glad that the EVO line might be dead. The reason I am saying that is because this "should" make for quicker updates. One phone two base updates (CDMA/GSM). HTC can pour all their recourses into keeping these 2 versions updated. I know that carriers will add there bloat but keeping the base updates basically uniform should speed up the process. Just my 2 cents.
