Water proof RAZR - Motorola Droid RAZR

My wife and I both have razrs and today hers ended up dropping into the toilet after she have finished. She pulled it out and proceeded to wash it off in the sink. Of course she would since she had just taken a leak. So once she notices that it's still working she decides to tell me about it. I took it out of its holster and got more water out then removed the same and sim and blew out even more water. After making sure I had gotten all the water out that I could without splitting the case I put it all back together and all seems well. I guess they really are water resistant.

Water resistant = Being splashed with water / can withstand being in the rain for a while
Being fully submerged in the toilet and then WASHED under a running tap is not what a phone is designed phone.
It's advertised as water resistant, not water proof.

It's not waterproof, but lucky.
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2

Extremely lucky. We have the extended warranty but it's $100 deductible if I recall. And toilet drops are covered.
Still nice to know that they are very good at being water resistant.
And hey, my wife leaks but the phone doesn't.

Your phone will work for approximately 2-3 months and then possibly will stop working due to corrosion. Swap up the phone if you can asap.

Or sell to a Tokyo businessman for a HUGE profit.
...just sayin'

Good thing she was just peeing. I doubt the Razr is poo resistant.

And when she dropped the ipad it cost $65 to fix the shattered screen.

There might still be moisture in the phone.. Bury the phone in a bucket of rice for a couple of days will do the trick.

LOL Amen To That!!!

Already have the replacement and the old pissy one boxed up to go back. I didn't want to chance letting moisture corrode inside so I sprung for the $99 replacement from the insurance. Besides, she had dropped that thing so many times I'm surprised it worked anyway.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium

She did it again with the replacement RAZR. And rinsed it off again. Don't think this one will pull through.

Bad news/ insurance question.

So, I dropped my phone just now and spider webbed the glass pane. Now it looks like most of the iPhones I see in the wild. The screen and touch matrix are still functional as I'm typing on the phone now. I'm just wondering if I should sbf back to stock before I go and see if insurance will get it replaced. I'm on cm9 right now.

Insurance won't care. just pony up the $100 and they'll send you a new one.

oh man that sucks. May I suggest the otterbox defender. I have thrown mine across the room on numerous ocasions and still looks brand new when I take the case off. Also I have never used my insurance but I would sbf just in case but thats just me.
No need to sbf for insurance. Only if you bring it into a store

Just make sure if you told them you still have the phone (didn't report it lost/stolen) that you send it back asap or they're going to hit your bill with a huge fee.

I would just replace the screen myself. It's probably a lot easier than you think and you can get the kit off amazon for $20. So you'll save money and you won't end up with a refurbished phone.

You won't know how to replace it your self, plus - the razr is one of the hardest phones when it comes to a full dismantle if you've cracked the LCD. I would say, send it to motorola

One of the hardest? It's actually really easy but you lose the water proof. The screen and digitizer is one piece making it a very easy replacement.
Try replacing a digitizer only on a nexus one or hd2 compared to them the razr is child's play

If you want to keep it water proof and make sure it has gorilla glass send it to Motorola. If you try fixing it yourself, and something else gets broken, you've voided your warranty.
I sent a RAZR MAXX to Motorola to have a broken screen replaced. They "misplaced" the phone and couldn't find it. So they waived the repair cost. ($179) I did finally get my phone back, fixed. 11 days after they received it, good as new warranty intact.
Compared to a any other 4.3 device..i would say this is the hardest
Just wanna say the phone is not water proof its water resistant at best.

Dropped My DROID Razr

I Dropped it from a flight of stairs at school and was all cement and not a single dent or a broken screen!! This phone is strong as hell!!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
I have some very minor chipping on mine on the side of my Razr Maxx, but the screen and overall structure is still fine despite repeated drops. Great build quality.
I bought the Otterbox Commuter case after a couple drops and have dropped it many, many times since then (falls out of my pockets a good bit), everything has been rock solid so far. Knock on wood.
My phone has smooth done some spiderman moves and has landed crack free every time.

That's because it's not a fragile iProduct. Most android manufactures take durability into account when designing devices.

Im a land surveyor, i was in the woods putting wooden stakes in the ground at the center line of a future road and a cat d6t (really big bulldozer) was knocking down trees for us. I dropped my phone near the center line, the d6 ran it over, it didn't suffer a scratch. It did have a cheap rubber case on it and the ground wasn't hard ...but still

Scree shatter

Ugh fell from couch to carpet and shattered. Heard of this happening a lot. I'm pretty sure phones insured (assurian like 6 Buck amonth?)
Either way....pretty dissapointed that a 600 device is this weak....
Can I talk Verizon into swapping for a dif phone. I like maxx but this build quality is crap. I've dropped other phones and no scratch....
Is it even worth trading for a gnex (assume that's all I'd b able to get)? Any shot of a s3 if I throw like 150 at em?
Thanks guys
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
That's some bad luck dude!! I dropped mine twice in the past two days and not a scratch. Plus it fell on a hard hospital floor. Do you have a case on it? Either that or that's one hard carpet, I would replace that before you get another 600 dollar device!! That's a huge bummer though. Unfortunately I don't think the carrier is into wheeling and dealing so you may have to get what you get or buy another phone on Craigs list or Ebay.

mine fell off my lap out of an SUV onto my foot which was in motion and accidentally kicked it onto pavement then it skittered 15 feet on it's face underneath another parked car. Zero damage, but in a dual layer"case-mate" case, and with screen protector on also. 30 bucks for the case+protector well spent.
I had the same thing happen to my og razr, i replaced it with the maxx, I think the og razr is to rigid and tends to make the screen more vulnerable to breaking. The maxx has a bit more weight behind the screen. My maxx was run over by a d9 bulldozer (i was ungodly lucky that the ground was soft, and the teeth of the track missed it) with out a scratch, only issue I've noticed is that the magnetic field sensor is stuck which sucks because I'm a land surveyor and a compass on my phone would be very useful.

How do we remove the dreading VZW logo off the home button?

I've read alcohol wipes, penny with tape on it and a sugar cube could work. Any more thoughts? It NEEDS go ASAP. That's the first thing I noticed in the VZW looking at the display.
Acetylene torch should do it
realize that this would take the finish and shine off of it though
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Hydrchloic acid should do the trick.... I recommend at least 8 oz and let it sit over night night
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Lol this is getting out of hand. I predict a locked thread
I'm going to wait until a video tutorial pops up, where I can watch someone perform the action to their device, before I try it on mine. I hate the VZW logo on the button as much as the next person, but I'm not going to risk having a screwed up button over removing the logo.
I don't mind the logo... not really that big of a deal but I seen someone used water mixed with sugar on a rag and wipped it off.
Sugar and water? Wow lol

Actually, this is the method I have been hearing for a month. You are supposed to tape around the logo and then mix water and sugar until it is pasty. Then you rub the logo off. The sugar acts as sand paper and grinds the logo off.
Now, my experience with hydrochloric acid definitely says for you to not use 8 oz overnight...

Yeah I'm wonder about this too. Trying to decide between the DNA and this, and that logo is killing me. I haven't played with either phone yet, but from all the videos/pictures I've seen, the logo is pretty stand out-ish. Yeah the DNA is pretty much Verizon color schemed, but in all honesty, flat black and red looks amazing.
Verizon seriously has some idiots working for them. Whoever thought it was a good idea needs a swift kick in the ass.

I had a pack of silver ones for my 2 Galaxy 3's & had one left.
