The bottom-most right-most corner of my display (in portrait) is not responsive to touches and is kind of annoying when typing. I have to usually try several times to get the response.
Stock ROM, only rooted. I just reset it again. I changed the lcd density back to 320 to see if that was an issue, formally at 240.
I used the S-Pen to do these drawing to demonstrate the problem area. The results are strange. In portrait the problem exists but when in landscape it doesn't appear to be a problem. Is this a hardware or software issue or anyone else experience this?
The local AT&T shop says it’s definitely not normal and I can go to their local warranty shop but I don’t necessarily want to get a refurbished replacement if the ICS release might fix it.
I dont have a note yet, but personally myself, I would unroot and take it back asap. Hopefully someone on here will be able to offer a better solution soon, but if not, then I would return it. Hope you get it sorted out.
Pretty sure it's the built-in offset. Go to phone settings -> pen options and change the dominant hand to left. I think you'll find that it is now the bottom left corner that won't respond. Also test with the phone upside down, and it should still be one of the bottom corners (but the other side, since you've turned the phone upside down).

Changing the dominance does swap the S-Pen's ability to recognize that corner and changes it to the other corner.
However, it's stll not recognizing my finger touches.
So to confirm, using my finger with the dominance swapped yields the same results as the images posted with the S-Pen.
When rotated to landscape and using my finger, I cannot reach that corner like I can with the S-Pen when rotated to landscape.
I would believe this is a finger touch issue and not to much S-Pen
Actually. I have a slightly bigger problem. Sometimes hovering my spen above the right bottom corner will trigger a touch. Mainly the space. Enter. Backspace. And m keys. I think I'm going to get it swapped out

that's actually been covered, there's a post here about putting aluminum foil tape on your stylus to correct the issue.
AT&T is sending me another one... we'll see what that one does and hope that it's just not my personal perception.
Replacement arrived and does not share the issue

Like the title says... Is this a defect or a galaxy note feature?
Sometimes when I'm using the s pen, it seems like it taps the screen even though the pen does not even touch the screen yet. I can recreate the problem especially on the bottom right areas.
What I want to know if this actually a note feature.
It's weird because in those areas I only need to hover the pen and it will click/tap the icons there.
Same issue here with Dot button in Memo thou.

Same here... Bottom right just over the back button ... Driving me nuts
Happens to me too....
It is a feauture if you feel comfy with it. It is a defect if you do not feel comfy with it. I dnt find it to be a defect

There's been several mentions of this defect here on the forums already.
Here's the short explanation: the magnet from the speaker on the back of the phone is screwing with the s-pen signal a little bit in the lower right area of the screen.
Here's the short fix: wrap a tiny piece of aluminum tape around the s-pen, right at the bottom of the button, as seen in this video.
Or you can wait and see if Samsung makes an updated version of the s-pen that doesn't get the interference.
I believe that my digitizer is broken, using the show pointer setting in developer settings, it seems as though there is a gap about 1 cm large where the phone wont register touches.
I've attached two files, one where I had swiped up and down over the suspected area, and one where I press the upper left corner of the bezel.
Both of these things leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the digitizer, am I right?
Can anything be done about it?
Thanks for your help!

I'm having some similar problem but my line is vertical just above the "w e s z , " letters in the keyboard. You can try this fix, it didn't worked for me but you don't lose anything
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719653
that didn't work for me either, I guess this is the end for the phone then.
Hi all, sorry my first post is asking for help, but I'm lost on this one.
It doesn't happen all the time, but I randomly get a dead spot on the bottom right corner of my phone.
It happens when I touch the app drawer, and the L key when I'm texting. It only randomly acknowledges I touched the screen.
Restarting the phone usually helps, but does that mean it's software or hardware?
Should I have it replaced?
Stock VZW Note II, no apps installed.
Ty for any and all help.
-edit-
It was replaced for a bad digitizer.
When using Multitouch visibility test, if you put more then 4 fingers on the screen, it locked up the phone requiring removal of the battery.
Perhaps instead of software, could it be heat?
It sounds like a dead/dying pixel to me. If it is only there on certain screens, then probably not, but if its there on say the boot screen or something, then I'd take it back.

I'm sorry I should have been more specific.
It's not a screen blemish.
It's when I go to tough the screen.
Like if I hit the L key on the keyboard during a text message, it will only register a touch like 50% of the time.
Or if I touch the app drawer, I have to hit it multiple times to open it up.
The actual screen is perfect, no dead or stuck pixels at all.

I'd return to Verizon, especially if you're not rooted so it won't be any trouble returning to stock etc.
It's probably mildly annoying to you now and it's only going to get worse over time. If there's no physical damage to the phone I don't see them giving you any trouble.

No damage at all, and I actually went through 3 screen protectors before I figured out it wasn't them.
Kinda bummed I have to drive 45 miles to return this damn thing though.

You don't. Call VZ and they will ship you another and give you a prepaid box to ship the old one back in.

I actually called them, and they told me to just take it back to the store in case the replacement has issues.
Which is troubling to hear.
I have a youtube video demonstrating the problem, but I won't let me post it so ohwell.
Will have to wait til I get 10 posts.
Basically, using multitouch visibility test, I roll my finger around the bottom right corner while never lifting it off, and it won't recognise my trying to touch the specific spot.
After I life my finger and move it around the screen it will recognise the spot. It's very random.
Here's the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGl9RoBLpjA
-edit-
The youtube tags aren't working?
So what do you all think?
Hardware or software?
After further messing around in Multitouch Visibility test, I can replicate this all over the screen, but it's easiest to do at the bottom right corner where L shows up on the keyboard.
Do u have a case with any magnets on it?

That would only affect the S-Pen, from what I understand.

Nah, it was a bad digitizer they said.
Whenever you put multiple fingers on screen, it would lock up, and require yanking the battery to reboot.
When you notice this are you holding the S-pen? I noticed if you get the pen near the screen (close enough for air hover to work) that the screen and buttons quit working to touch. For a little while I thought the home button was having problems, turned out the way I was holding the pen would result in it being placed near the screen when I hit the button.

The main reason I noticed it was when I was texting.
Whenever I went to type words like sleep, or talk, they would be missing the letter L.
Or when I would go to open the app drawer, and it would only work half the time.
All while the pen was in the phone.
The lockup doesn't sound normal but as far as dead spots if you have a screen protector on have you tried removing it? Marginal screen protectors will cause touch input issues.
When I push (lightly) on the bottom area of the display - the capacitive button area - there is a pretty loud creak every time, as if the display pops out of the case and pushing it snaps it back in. All I have to do is touch either corner of the bottom of the display and I get this creaking. At that point, it stops, but if I try it again five minutes later it creaks again. Does this happen to anyone else, and is it a big enough deal to consider an exchange?

I don't have that problem. In my opinion, that is something pretty annoying and I would look to get a replacement, if possible

I experienced a similar issue on the TOP of the screen, where it the screen is flush with the body on the left side of the earpiece, but NOT completely flush on the right side of the screen (just under the front facing camera). The right side of the screen pops out a little bit. Anyone experience this? I am going to bring this to AT&T to see if I can get a replacement.

i had the exact same problem with the onex, what ever you do, dont squeeze it back in, you will end up with a yellow spot from what ever is underneath it, i went round the whole xcreen pushing and sticking it back in,it was all flush, no popping out on the corners or creeking, after about an hour i started getting yellow spots and lines at ther top under the speaker ans in the corner where it was popping out before, i actually got angry in the end and smashed the screen lol, cost me £170 from htc repair centre, phone is now better than when i purchased and a i regret to say its better than the onex+ i purchased while phopne was in repair, the scrolling on the onex+ is reall peaing me off now, its double clicking things, when i scroll it rubberbands and goes the other way lol, also it clicks on stuff in a different area to where my finger is sometimes when i scroll,i have a thread and im reporting it to htc after christmas, and i hope everyone else is, i want as many people as possible to get in touch with them so they no its serious, with a bit of luck we might get 4.2.1 earlier or at least a hotfix ota.Improved scrolling my ass.
Problem with "dead zones" on screen, where touch is not working. Am I the only one?
Hi!
I have some problem with my Honor 10. I believe that it existed since I bought it brand new from the store. On the left side of my screen is a narrow "zone" that have few millimeters and where the touch is not working. This "zone" is a narrow "strap" going from bottom to the top of the screen, along the left edge of the screen. Usually I don't notice that but sometimes it is a little irritating when I am touching "a" letter on my keyboard and nothing happens, and I have to touch it a millimeter more on the right, than on the left. There is no such problem on the right side of the screen.
I installed application to test touch screen called "Touch Screen Test".
and here you can see what do I mean by that "dead zone" - I ran my finger across the left edge screen on this app, trying to go as much to the left as possible and there is a line on the left, where the touch is not going completely to the left edge of the screen. Here is a photo (sorry for not using IMG tag, but when I used it, the image did not work):
i.imgur.com/2COvHvA.jpg
( the white line fading to gray are where I touched my finger, couldn't go more to the left, as if touchscreen was broke there)
On the right side, there is no such problem, or the "dead zone" is much smaller:
i.imgur.com/rcLQFnK.jpg
Does my device have some kind of factory problem, or all Honor 10 users have this thing? Is it to prevent people from accidentally touching their screen with finger while holding the phone? Maybe it can be turned off?
Thanks for any help and information!

Unfortunately what you have is a factory problem. I don't see why they would put some sort of protection only on one side.
I did the test as well and this is my result. When I draw a vertical line the screen protector doesn't allow me to go exactly to the edge but with a horizontal line I could. And I have the same result on both sides

I can see that you have FHD+ resolution on your Honor 10. I've set mine to FHD+ too, and did the test again. I can confirm, that on mine, the line is somewhere between the letters "e" and "n" in word "open" (there is "Open menu by the volume up" on the upper side of screen in this app). On your Honor, the line is much more to the left, much closer to the edge, between the first letter "O" and "p".
And on mine, even when I do horizontal line, it stops there, do not go to the edge.
Thanks for helping me. So seems like this is just a problem with my Honor 10, not some kind of weird feature. Lesson learned - I will check things like that while buying a phone in the future.

My phone is still under warranty(support app>me>my device>), probably yours as well. June should be the last month. Try to see if you can have it fixed or replaced it is worth trying even if you are going to move on with another phone ?
