I have been told by a friend who had a look at my phone as it will not switch on after I tried to root the phone.
I have been told that I put on the wrong OS on the phone & it has messed up the battery partition, so the phone thinks it has low battery power, thus will not switch on.
Is there anything I can do about this by unblocking it & if I can, could anyone tell me how to do it?
Thanks.
Thanks, you made me laugh (I genuinely laughed out loud reading your post, sorry).
No, you've broken your phone.
For this thing PM a developer they would be the right people to help I out

Charge the battery in a separate outlet for some time, try booting into download mode, if by chance you get it then you are saved. Just download any official ics roms and flash it via odin

This is terrible advice...
Sounds like you are suggesting that he PM a random dev for help when it appears like he flashed a firmware meant for a different phone.
Most of the time this happens, and the phone no longer boots AT ALL (as mentioned by the OP), then no one here is going to be able to help. It will usually require Jtag repair.

You should read the XDA developers rules .
This is not a fix my phone forum .
jje
I think the easiest option for me is to return the phone to my mobile provider (which they want £150 to give me a totally new replacement handset), which I don't think is that bad really.
I don't have another device to charge the battery up on, but I'm still thinking that it will still tell me that it has a low battery to download when put in download mode (which is what it is doing at moment, even though battery is fully charged).

You clearly weren't paying attention when it was said that no amount of help via this site would make a difference for the OP anyways. From his post, it sounds like he (or someone else) had flashed a firmware meant for a different device to his phone, and it now does not boot. That requires either Jtag repair or a motherboard replacement. Neither of which is possible over the internet.
And you seem to think this forum is some kind of tech support forum. Which, while people who are NOT paid are often kind enough to help out people who are having trouble with their devices, it is NOT. It is a developer's forum. Maybe you should give this a read.

I thought Samsung offered two years RTB warranty on phones. Sale of goods act should protect you as well you may be liable for repair if no fault is found.
Check all this.

Samsung offer a two year limited warranty .
Vendor usually twelve months warranty in the UK .
But as phone has been rooted all warranty null and void .
Flashing the wrong firmware likewise .
Custom rom the same custom rom counter above zero the same
So sales of goods act does not apply has phone has been modified by the user .
Custom rom root etc warranty voided see well posted letter to service centres from Samsung .

That's what you should have done in the first place. You might be better off trying to get a warranty replacement. If the phone is bricked, they won't be able to tell if you tried to do something to it anyway. Just an idea. Hope you learned your lesson. Should have been a given.

About a half hour of reading in the first place would have saved you the 600+ dollar paperweight you just created. In a half hour, you could effectively figure out that n7000 ROMs are a big no-no for the i717, learned how to root your i717, learn how to flash CWM on your i717, and flash an i717 ROM to your i717.
Not to condone screwing over AT&T, but I would suggest you do the following, if you by chance have the monthly insurance on your phone: report it lost or stolen, pay the $200 deductible to order a new one, then take your old one which is now completely useless, and smash it with a hammer, run it over with your car, burn it, spray paint it, burn it again, smash it some more, wrap a strip of firecrackers around it and light it off, use it for target practice for the nearest firearm or paintball gun, then put it in a display case to keep in a prominent location in your home or office as a reminder of what a lack of reading can do to your device. Then, while you are waiting patiently for your new i717 to arrive in the mail, take the time to READ everything you can about your specific phone so you know every in and out of it before it is in your hands.
All joking aside, the best you can probably do is report it lost or stolen, order a new one, and then see if somebody needs it to try out JTAG repairs for the Note. I'm not sure if JTAG has been accomplished on the i717 yet, but that's probably the most use your phone will ever provide again.

If you continually post these questions over and over and are still not sure, even given all the information people have given you, then I advise you not to get this phone; you seem more suited to get an iPhone.
Seriously, I'm not trying to be insulting. You've posted this EXACT same question three times now on three different threads. If you still are unsure about getting this phone after all the answers given to you by this point, then get a different phone.

I understand you want to be sure about your investment on a new device. Unfortunately I will not allow you spamming the boards with the same questions, specially when all the questions can be easily found in XDA or using Google. If your having a hard time with English then use a browser that can translate for you. Google chrome has a extension that allows this for an example. Thread locked
Hi,
I just gotten a new Galaxy S3 from AT&T and I decided to root the phone and wanted to flash it with a cuztomized ROM. My phone was successfully rooted and I tried flashing Android Revolution HD ROM ( a cuztomized rom from xda). Right after the phone done flashing the rom and was trying to reboot, it did not boot or turn on. I cannot even start the phone. The phone was just not gonna startup no matter what I did. I could not even go into the recovery mode or download mode so I could not do anything to fix it. Anyone can help me with this? Thanks.

Sounds like a brick .. sorry mate.
Well I think you might be able to get away with telling em you were doing an update through kies and the cord got yanked by your cat halfway through... or send it to someone for JTAG. There's a couple reputable buisnesses that do this and with a fast turnaround and relatively low cost considering the cost of the device.. maybe somewhere around $50 bucks (just a ballpark.. could be 60.. beats me) user connexion2005 does JTAG and I believe he has support for the S3!
..but lesson learned. Read, Read, Read .. I am sure the OP of the ROM you flash states plain and clear which device it's for. You need to know which device you have and are modding, and not by its generic name.. "GalaxyS3 international variant is an GT-i9300" .. not sure what the at&t variant is but its not GT-i9300
*edit* actually it doesn't state it in the OP that its for the GT-i9300 variant ... but it is in the GT-i9300 forum.

Yours is an error that people make fairly routinely. Since you are familiar with other phones, you think the same information applies to this phone, and then you don't take the time to read and verify your assumptions.
On the SGH-I777, ClockworkMod Recovery is built into the kernel, and therefore it is not recommended to use Rom Manager, or try to flash CWM separately. As you learned, that can be dangerous.
If you are unable to get any signs of life from the phone at all, then I would suggest you follow the advice above to use a USB jig first to see if that will get you into download mode.
If the phone shows any signs of life, let us know what.
EDIT: Or... if as the other thread implies, your sister's phone is SGH-I727, then ignore the above, and go look for help in the 727 forums.

Also before it's said I'm in the military and a firm believer the omitting the truth isn't the same as lying essentially if they don't ask you don't have to tell them or volunteer it same goes with anything in life if offered a great job that didn't run a background check and didn't ask would you tell them you have a felony? No you wouldn't volunteer that information unless they asked

+1. He damaged the phone by doing something without understanding what he was doing. The phone is dead because of something he did, something that explicitly violates the warranty. Sending it in for warranty repair is committing fraud.

Read my laundry list post above and technically it was deemed during the entire apple jailbreak fiasco that they can warranty a device not the firmware and that it's your device to do with what you want they may not cancel a warranty for changing software Samsung tried it to me and ended up sending me a new device 1 month after purchase because I knew the legalities and I read my TOS agreement he does have the right to send it in and Samsung will decide if the device is unrecoverable which he would be at fault or if it's a simple repair which they will warranty under user stupidity very few of you have called or spoken to Samsung let alone sent in for repair replacement so if you don't know what your talking about your best to step out of the thread as your only adding speculation at that point
SAMSUNG has apart of their TOS that says we will supply a warranty replacement for your device at our discretion and that they may reject a warranty claim if they accept said claim its not fraud under no circumstances do I condone or recommend fraud this is simply following their TOS if they ask if you flashed firmware I'd say be honest but it's your choice if they don't ask which they rarely do then they will run down list of things with you punch it and their warranty software will make a preliminary decision

This really isn't complicated. If you mess with your phones, like we are,.it voids your warranty. Trying to get them to replace the phone when you're the one that messed it up is not cool. I mean we all know the risks here.

They told me that they would give it for a cheaper price without warranty. Is that a wise idea? 1 year warranty
First of all wrong section
This belongs to ques n ans section
Secondly
Ur answer depends on u
If u get any software problm it can always b corrected bt if its hardware then u need to pay if u dun have warranty
And personal advice
I would have bought it...
Rest ur decision

I have bought it without warranty for INR 15.5 k i.e. 287$. If your hardware fails, you can always repair it. Hardly there's any problem with the hardware

I am kind of hoping to Root and install ROMs. I am afraid it might get bricked. That is my only fear. usually hardware failures are very rare. Is there some situations that is not possible to fix it again if it was bricked ?

Bricking is hell easy to correct

All u need to do is flash the official ftf via flashtool

great. but I have heard some stories saying some times phones can be bricked to a level that they can't be fixed/unbricked forever. This is rare i think?
If u do as per instructions ( of installing a rom)
U will b safe
At max u may get a soft brick
Bt if u install a rom of galaxy note on xperia p..... Hehehehe
U wont do that right
And yes thats an extremely rare situation what u wrote about

Well ... I own an Xperia U, and if you ask me, don't go for any electronic device without warranty.
My xperia u developed the infamous "touch screen not detecting in some areas" problem within a few months of buying.
Luckily, mine was within warranty and I got it replaced ASAP. So, for me ... no warranty is not worth buying at all.
I'd also not buy something without a warranty. My W810 had a speaker and camera fail, both can be fixed yourself, but better to get it done proper IMO.
Thinks like mainboard can't be replaced so easily, although they shouldn't fail anyway, depends how much you're paying really.
Or u can test all the hardware there

Hey dude.. Chill. I bought my Xperia U without warranty for a mere 11K INR. I tested much of the hardware there and I knew that software problems can be corrected. I have a sister who has a Galaxy mini and her camera was blurred. She didn't have warranty. She went to the Samsung shop and got it repaired. I had a Huawei ideos u8150. It got stuck in a bootloop because I overclocked it too much. I went into recovery and did a factory reset. That's it. No software issues.. No hardware issues. I would buy it.
By the way does Sony repair your phone if you don't have warranty and are on a custom rom locked /unlocked bootloader? They will charge you. But will they repair it?

No, very bad idea. Very, very bad. I've had my trouble with this. Often a fake etc. The people on eBay have seen and discussed this thousands of times, check it out if you're really interested.

Not in my case.
I got mine in the box.
All the papers.
Only no bill.
The phone is fine.
Even the declaration of conformity.
Idk what it is btw.
Only no bill

I didn't say that every mobile phone on eBay is fake. What I said was that I had a bad experience. When I asked for advice in the eBay Community they said that fake electronics - especially mobile phones - are quite common online and you have to take precautions.
Back to the OP's point, no, I would not recommend buying a phone without a warranty.
